You can do both, buy bitcoin and some altcoin but it all depends on how much money you can invest, I suggest to divide your money to bitcoin and the other investment is to altcoin, bitcoin os a long term investment, altcoins have a short term investment like ripple that give you profit in a short period of time. For me I think litecoin and digibyte have a long term of surviving in this market, because of its demand in the marketcap and when youre planning to invest in long term investment these coin is worth investing. Though eth and bitcoin is good long term investment.

The best time to sell when youre doing trading Is when the altcoin or bitcoin youre holding is high price, but in your statement the other time you can sell your altcoin or bitcoin is when you badly needed money and theres no other option but to sell your coins, that I think is the best time to sell.

Yes it deserve to hold xrp now, though it is a short term investment but it has a long term invest also, for me I suggest that you should hold it because of its circulating supplies is huge compare to other altcoins so you can be sure that it would rise in time and gain profit from it.

In your list I consider ripple as a good investment the other three is you need to analyze and take a long time to observe its price in marketcap so you can estimate how will it dump and pump their price. Ripple I recomend.

Like bitcoin we can expect the same in ethereum it has large circulating supply and marketcap, we can expect that it will increase its price by the demand of investors investing in it.
