Anyone got new news on China ban thing?

There you go "The ban will only apply to trading of cryptocurrencies on exchanges, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named because the information is private." "OKCoin, BTC China and Huobi, the country’s three biggest bitcoin exchanges, said on Monday that they hadn’t received any regulatory notices concerning bans on cryptocurrency trading. All three venues reported transactions on Monday, with bitcoin rising 6.3 percent on OKCoin as of 11:56 a.m. local time."

BCC had a nice spring back, dead?  Grin

BTC difficulty adjustment soon.

It's looking more and more as if both will coexist for now.

Race to the moon!

Both will co-exist there is no doubt about this and as for the upcoming difficulty adjust its looking like BTC will increase and BCH will decrease which will probably put BCH ahead in profitability and we know how that will probably turn out

Which date/day will this happen? (Sorry if stupid question)

At current speeds BTC just under 24hours and BCH just over a week

Thank you. Hm, so this will mean BCH price will probably go up a bit in that time if I understood you correctly.

No it does not work like that the price can even go down the price is what the users determine it is worth depending on how many want to buy or sell

If a greater amount is being sold compared to buyers it goes down and if a greater amount is being bought compared to being sold it goes up it has nothing to do with the difficulty most of the miners will just put hashrate onto which is most profitable

When BCH is more profitable you generally get a lot move over and this causes a huge difficulty increase over a few days making it unprofitable then they all leave again leaving it dead for a day until the emergency difficulty reduction kicks in

It's a combination of the two, supply demand side and miners throwing hasrate on the network which make cryptocurrencies kinda tricky to trade you gotta know your stuff in this crazy cryptoworld or get burn marked, right?

No Bitcoin is the real chain.

One is BITCOIN
One is Bitcoin Cash (a new altcoin, not the REAL BTC)

There was the original chain which is Bitcoin.

Then the core devs failed to understand the purpose of Bitcoin and limited the block size to 1 mb. Hijacked the discussion, forced the intelligent devs to fork their coin from BTC. Then they implemented new code which fundamentally changes BTC from a currency to a settlement layer.

Both are forks from the original Bitcoin. Segwit, Cash.

Listen to your leader Jihan

I really like the direction that the difficulty is going now. It has been oscillating the past few weeks between super high and super low which caused problems for everyone, but now we are settling on a difficulty that is getting close to the target of 10min/block:

http://bch.xbt.it/?interval=10

If this remains stable for the next regular re-target at block #485856 we should see minimal difficulty changes (compared to what we have already seen) and both BTC and BCH will be able to have a stable trajectory of mining hash rate.

10 times lmfao, fuck that shit, only have to read through not even once what the fuck!!!!

why do I have the feeling this article is a web of lies?: https://achow101.com/2016/04/Segwit-FUD-Clearup

Segwit fixes many underlying issues in bitcoin and creates a short term temporary scaling fix many that do not understand what segwit it just spread misinformation and call the facts FUD.
This short term fix then allows for a huge scaling fix that will carry bitcoin to the masses

BCH on the other hand have decided to leave these underlying security issues in place in favour of a slightly longer short term scaling fix but it is just still a short term fix if BCH does grow the blocks will get full and it is not immune to mempool spam just like BTC this will fill blocks very fast and there is no evidence yet how the network will react it takes considerably longer to verify a 8MB block so you will probably find empty blocks being mined just on the headers so far the average block is under 100k so yes it will run well just like bitcoin did when transaction count was low

@tek,

LOL now you can fud.

There is no huge scaling fix, segcrap moved witness data out of the 1MB file , the file is still limited to 1 MB, no matter what.
Which means by removing the witness data , you may have up to 60% of the 1MB file free.
And that is only if all of the witness data is using segwit addresses, if any uses the nonsegwit addresses they decrease that 60% much lower.
Segwit will be a theoretical Max of 1.7MB File size (1MB fixed+~.7MB segwit witness data)  according to Core own records.

Lightening Network is Offchain Transactions , totally a waste of time, Exchanges could provide offchain transactions without all of these shenanigans.

Nothing in segwit or LN do anything to stop spam transactions.
As they can't tell a normal transactions from a spam transactions.
All they do is raise the fees, and they did that before segwit activated.

And the so called Malleability Problem was caused by Core Devs when they changed Bitcoin to no longer process transactions in order, but allowed higher fees to jump ahead. And it has been an issue for years they never worried about fixing until now.

By the way a non-segcrap solution to the malleability issue is Flexible Transactions.

╥Aztek

Thanks for the clear cut answer. Now it makes sense, I didn't have to go through the details and the fallacious arguments.

-snip-

The correlation between hashrate/confirmation times to Bitcoin Cash price is that when the blockchain stops moving so nobody can move coins to the exchanges to sell them then it is a good time for a pump.

what about traders? aren't a part of the equation as well?

Yes, exactly what I was getting at. Traders taking the opportunity to pump while the miners can't get their coin to market to sell.

I see, very interesting, indeed.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: August 27, 2017, 05:52:50 PM
Bitcoin Cash difficulty already went way up close to 12 hours ago and hashrate dipped way down (as expected):
http://fork.lol/pow/hashrate

Currently, blocks are being mined approximately every 2 hours: https://www.blocktrail.com/BCC

What will happen next is that if there are fewer than 6 blocks mined in a 12-hour window (approximately-- see https://medium.com/@jimmysong/bitcoin-cash-difficulty-adjustments-2ec589099a8e for details), Bitcoin Cash will undergo an Emergency Difficulty Adjustment where the next block will then be 20% easier to mine. It will continue to do this until the difficulty is approximately proportional to that of Bitcoin (~$600/$4300), at which point each miner will decide that it's more profitable to mine Bitcoin Cash and will move hashpower there. This swing will continue to happen every 2016 blocks (which is the "normal" difficulty adjustment timeframe).

Interestingly, there is essentially no correlation between hashrate/confirmation times to Bitcoin Cash price... the most price breakout occurred while the hash rate dipped.

Now that is a very good observation, the relation between hash and price and do they track together.  Keep an eye on things this is getting interesting.

bids for BCC are @ $631 at time of post, while the BTC chain is more profitable and hash has moved to the BTC chain

The correlation between hashrate/confirmation times to Bitcoin Cash price is that when the blockchain stops moving so nobody can move coins to the exchanges to sell them then it is a good time for a pump.

I know I did  Grin... but I'm still holding some which I bought waaaay up there...  Embarrassed

Hold it till your last fucking breath, lol

I'm sure that advise was also gold when the value was over $800 too week on week it's been on a slow decline with the odd little breakout but slowly making its way back to $300

Sticking to the plan is an essential part of the strategy, never back down.

Nice little BCH breakout BTW, hope you guys saw this trading opportunity.
Yes, I paniced and sold 5 minutes too soon. Lost $30 instead of profit lot more... LOL... I'm an idiot. Smiley

You're not an idiot, just need to be more patient, I admit it's easier said than done when it comes to make money, frustration lurks in....

Hopefully Bitcoin Cash will be used more as the tx fees are way way lower.

BTC fees now are a joke, its like blackmailing. Transfers being denied, or taken hostage many many hours on the blockchain, punnishing users for paying too little fees. Ya right, very decentralized, where is the competition taking my lower fees? Oh yaeh, its a cartel of pools, very decentralized yeah sure. We went from fees was nothing, a few satoshi to now, 50K+ satoshi and fee still too low? Dang one can get many alt coins for these amounts. This is blackmailing in my opinion.  BTC is not cheap transfers nor is it fast. Banks are cheaper and faster now lol. Might be cheaper to buy altcoins for transfers even with exchange fees. BTC biting the hand that feeds them in my opinion.

Edit: Meanwhile BTC price went up millions of % but fees went up in satoshi too lol.
Exactly! The fee and waiting time when I moved my BTC was ridiculous, seems that BTC is only for the rich and the miners trying to use people's ignorance as much as they can and grab all the free money they can get!

I you refer to individual miners, I highly doubt they're rich people.
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: August 27, 2017, 02:11:10 PM

The miners have a big say on which coin will be a main coin, bitcoin ot bitcoin cash. Thus, whichever coin has more value, will likely that they mine that coin for profitability. Bitcoin been around for years now, wherras Bitcoin Cash just a couple months, yet receive lots of attention. What if Bitcoin Cash was named differently, wouuld the story be the same? in order for bitcoin cash value continue rising, it needs mass adoption like bitcoin to have value.

Bitcoin cash has not been around a couple of months it was born 1st august and the only reason it gets so much hate is because it was made to try and destroy bitcoin

Litecoin was a clone of bitcoin but gets no hate plus some other coins that use the name bitcoin that get no hate.

Bitcoin cash was created to cause confusion and to try and replace the dominant chain by bitmain this is what people take issue with not the fact it was cloned
I disagree, well, I don't know their true motives but so far, BCH is more "original bitcoin" than BTC because BTC is/will rely on third party and is/has moved towards centralization whereas BCH is still decentralized and also with MUCH lower fees. The only problem is that people are not yet aware of this fact.

In my humble opinion, they should have even named BCH "Bitcoin" just for the hell of it! *lol* (joking)

EDIT: Bitchcoin (jk)

Wasn't it created to keep the blockchain decentralized?
