Hi everyone,

Thought this might be a good starting place to announce Predict Coins!

Predict Coins is a new web-based Bitcoin price prediction game. Compete against other players by correctly predicting Bitcoin price moves. Refine your speculation skills, and use the current market sentiment to best time your trades.

http://www.predictcoins.com/

The game is currently under active development, with many more features in the works.

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions are much appreciated Smiley

Thanks!

That's a great looking user interface.  Well done.  Is there a reward for being a good guesser, other than community pride?

Did you code that from scratch or is it built on top of a framework?

Does anyone know if there will be videos of the conference available?  I meant to attend but just didn't have time.

This guy won $230,000 on Satoshi Dice.   Not bad.

This is a hilarious feed.

Besides that I assume the day quantum computers can do more than simple calculations we'll have encryption algorithms designed for them.

Exactly.  It just a matter of using longer salt values.  We use 256-bit encryption because its highly impractical to crack it without years of time on a supercomputer, but there's no reason we couldn't just increase the length of our encryption keys.

In short, unless someone is hiding a quantum computer that is 50 years ahead of its time, we're probably safe.

It seems like Alt-coins are an opportunity to make a lot money if you can spend a little on PR.  Penny stocks work the same way.  Its more than just "pump and dump" because people are creating real demand.  Savvy investors used to buy penny stocks low and then blast news articles about the company and how well it was doing and invariably there is a spike in price.

It's illegal to do this now for anything traded on a U.S. stock exchange, but since these alt-coins are totally unregulated, there's nothing stopping anyone from using those tried and true tactics on whatever coin they may be holding at the moment.   Why not try to ride the wave on an Alt coin that looks like its getting good PR?  I've made a solid return on my investment just by playing the Ups and Downs on the alt-coin marketplace.

As long as you look at them as instruments for day trading, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be mining them and trading them. Why not let the free market decide what survives?  Natural selection is beautiful that way.
