Important message from the CEO of the project Arround Neil Bryant: Dear ARROUNDers! I just wanted to catch up with you all, and let you know what we’ve been up to since our last conversation. When we started the project, we already knew augmented reality was hot, but we had no idea that it would attract so much attention from a number of global brands. For a start-up, that hasn’t even launched its main marketing campaign, to garner the interest of global multinationals is simply stunning. Given this demand, we understood that it would be better for us to roll out some custom solutions before the Token Sale so that we can actually show the world what we are able to do, rather than just talk about it. So back to the lab we went, and some stunning examples of augmented reality are now under development. We’ve also expanded our development team, if you follow us on LinkedIn you’ll have noticed Artem has recently joined us as our CTO. I’ll be making some more announcements about deals and partners in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. Right now, we are running a Private Sale, with the minimum contribution of 1 ETH, which locks in a 40% bonus at the time of writing. As ever, I am always here to answer your questions personally, so please feel free to get in touch anytime! Sincerely Yours, Neil Bryant CEO ARROUND INC

How measuring apps became a reality Many smartphone apps now claim to do the job of the ruler and the tape measure. Want to know the width of a table? Just fire up the camera, click on the start and end points you wish to measure between and let algorithms do the rest, with the final measurement presented as a number superimposed onto the screen. https://medium.com/@arroundsmm/how-measuring-apps-became-a-reality-9856251db571

Hands-On: Codename Neon From Niantic Is A Real-Time Multiplayer AR Laser Tag GamePokemon Go, for all it does right to get people moving and interacting with the world through an AR lens, has a lot of limitations. One of the biggest shortcomings is how it handles the social aspect of the game. There really isn’t a way for you to interact with other players in real-time in the game world at all and even though millions of people play the game every day around the world, it often ends up feeling like you’re all just playing by yourself. https://medium.com/@arroundsmm/hands-on-codename-neon-from-niantic-is-a-real-time-multiplayer-ar-laser-tag-game-1bdfbb54a7da

Why Brands Need to Pay Attention to Augmented Reality Now More Than EverWhile online shopping enables people to make purchases anywhere, being able to visualize the product in a physical space is crucial, whether it’s the ability to try on a pair of glasses or match a set of throw pillows to your couch. In fact, even with the rise of online shopping, the ability to see, touch and feel products is one of the top reasons consumers choose to shop in stores versus online. Augmented reality done correctly has the power to change that. https://www.adweek.com/digital/why-brands-need-to-pay-attention-to-augmented-reality-now-more-than-ever/

Augmented Reality smartphone dongle bids the tape measure farewellJust when we thought tapeless tape measures would be the year’s pinnacle of innovation in measuring devices, along comes a breakthrough that more or less gets rid of the measure to boot. The Arrim One purports to be the world’s first “professional” Augmented Reality measuring device — a small laser emitter which connects to a smartphone to size up straight lines, circles and angles, and shows those measurements in your AR view of the world. A Kickstarter to fund the project is hurtling towards its US$20,000 target. https://medium.com/@arroundsmm/augmented-reality-smartphone-dongle-bids-the-tape-measure-farewell-bfaa9d36eeb9
