361  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: [UK/EU] Hardware - 5870's, PSU. UPDATED. on: June 15, 2011, 01:36:39 AM
BTC only or paypal too?
362  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Wait for 5830 or cancel and buy 6870 or 6950? on: June 14, 2011, 11:56:45 PM
So, I ordered two XFX 5830's at tigerdirect.ca.

Now, they were $130 a pop with $30 rebate. Plus tax, figure about $110 each.

They're sold out and on back order.

I emailed them regarding an ETA and got this:

Quote
Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your email.

We apologize for the inconvenience. The item was tagged that we will not be having this kind of item any more, however a scheduled delivery by next week was posted to somehow cover the backorders placed against this product. We would like to inform you that delivery listing was not a guarantee, we are still waiting also for the manufacturer to fulfill their delivery. In the event that delivery will be successful, we still might be able to ship your item couple days after the delivery was made to our warehouse. You have the option to cancel the backorder item, wait for it to be available  or we could assist you find a comparable replacement. Just advise us.

I'm going to be heading to the US in a week so if I wanted to get some GPUs without the tax, I'd have to order soonish so I could bring them back up.

Debating getting 2x Visiontek 6870 for about $200 after canceling my 2x 5830 order. Both have lifetime warranties.

So, what would you do?

Is this likely a latency issue with bitcoins.lc rather than a config setting on my machine? That's what I'm leaning towards.
364  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Very high rejection rate to bitcoins.lc on: June 14, 2011, 12:14:10 PM
I ran the fan at 50% all night. Woke up and the temp was 62C so it was definitely cool enough. I still had 8% rejection rate.

Ive not noticed any difference between running stock 750 or oc 790.
366  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Very high rejection rate to bitcoins.lc on: June 14, 2011, 02:17:52 AM
85C?!

Kick that up to 100% fan or plan on loosing that card in the next two months.

50-70C is the safe range.

At 50% it's now at 60C. I don't care TOO much about this card because I have 2x 5830's on the way... as soon as they get more in.

As I said, it's at 60 and I'm still getting 5.71% rejected.

89mh/s
66 accepted (94.9%)
4 rejected (5.71%)

My pool right now is bitcoins.lc. Whenever I leave the miner going for 8+ hours, I generally have about 10% rejection even though everyone else in the pool is getting less than 1%

I'm starting to think it's a latency issue because sometimes I'll run it for 30 min or so and it'll be fine. Other times I'll get 20% rejection.

Currently running a 4870 at 790mhz/790mhz mem at aggression 10 with phoenix and phoenix rising GUI miner. I've played with a lot of settings and nothing seems to help

How hot is your gpu?

It gets to 85ish then levels out. I have the GPU fan on auto.

I'll put it on 50% and run it for a while to see if that helps.

If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

I am getting 20% rejected at this point. It fluctuates for unknown reasons. Sometimes it's fine, others it's terrible.
370  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [170Gh/s+] Bitcoins.lc - Finally a usuable Bitcoin Pool! (EU, IPv6, 0% fee, LP) on: June 13, 2011, 12:50:35 PM
Well, I'm not sure why I'm having this issue but I'm getting more rejected. I'm at 5.6% right now.

I was trying to ping bitcoins.lc and the request is timing out. That could be one of the issues. Is there any way I could test my latency to the server?

edit: gone up to 6.13% now.

Are you overclocked?

And what are the temps on the cards?

overclocked at 790mhz clock and 790mhz memory. Temp is 85C, which is where it likes to be on automatic fan control. OCed or not it'll be at 85 with auto fan control on. I thought it was high but it auto adjusts so whatever.

I'll run it for a few hours on stock 750mhz/900 settings to see if that helps

Only thing different right now is running at 84mh/s rather than 89 (overclocked)

How do you see phoenix output? i'm using a phoenix GUI for mining.

I am using the command line phoenix.

Regarding my 10% rejection rate... currently I have 60 accepted and 0 rejected. So... that's pretty good. I'm literally doing nothing differently.

been running for over an hour now. I'm at 1.41% rejected which is by far the best yet.

Ok, call me blind but I've had to reinstall windows and need to setup my miner again, but for the life of me I cant find your miner config settings anywhere on your site? As a suggestion, perhaps you could put the host and port number etc under where we get our worker settings?

Click on 'generate bitcoins' when you're logged in and towards the bottom you should see:

with your info

What are these extenders?

I just ordered 2 5830's with a 1050w PSU. I was under the impression that I needed about 800w to power this rig with dual 5830's. Guess I'll have plenty of room to expand :p

Sooo is the payout going to be stopped until further notice or how is this working?

last I checked, I was getting a huge % of rejection - 20-40%

edit: since then it's not been that bad. I bumped aggression up from 9 to 10 and got a 2% rejection rate. I'm going to try it with aggression 12 right now to see if it'll be even lower.

edit 2: Aggression 12 = 29 accepted and 0 rejected. So far so good. I just didn't think the aggression would change the rejection rate.

edit 3: And it's back up to 10% rejected.

Check if it's better now
I made some changes...

7.94% rejected since you posted
378  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [170Gh/s+] Bitcoins.lc - Finally a usuable Bitcoin Pool! (EU, IPv6, 0% fee, LP) on: June 12, 2011, 06:31:14 PM
Well I had 1.4 and 1.48 in the same folder compressed so I decompressed 1.48 to make sure that's the one it was running
I'm pretty sure I'm running 1.48 though.

I'm in Canada

edit: So far I'm running at 100% but only started it a few minutes ago.

On another note, my 4870 is running at 85-86mh/s stable.

edit2: after making sure I have 1.48, I'm still getting about 4-5%

edit3: After a bit more tweeking, I now have my 4870 up to 88-89mh/s. Sweeeeeeet

So, after doing that, my rejected is up to 23%.

All I did was turn on phatk. I had fastloop on before too when I was getting 4%. I've since turned both off and I'll look into both to see what exactly they do. Ah being a nub.

Fastloop: the fast loop argument for Phoenix. Can possibly increase mining speed if enabled.
phatk: uses the phatk kernel, optimization for HD58xx series only I think? You MUST have phatk already inside the kernels folder.

I took out all flags (bfi_int vectors worksize=128) and now mh/s is back up to 89. Before taking out those flags I was at 85mh/s with 10% rejected.

Still getting 8.5% rejected

edit: Just turned off fastloop, currently have 13 accepted and 0 rejected while still getting 89mh/s. Will let it run for a while like this.

annnnnd same issue. 11% rejected as of now.

You've posted this three other times already. Selling an 8 piece lock pick set for $20 is a bit much.
