362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gary Gensler WAS DECIDING VOTE IN SEC SPOT $BTC ETF APPROVAL on: January 18, 2024, 05:31:42 AM
firstly ark21 was the only january final deadline (legal repurcussions)
blackrock, bitwise vaneck, wisdomtree, investco, fidelity, valkery had final deadline set for march
globalX final deadline set for april
hashex final deadline set for may

It was possible for the SEC to ask ARK to reapply, so that they could get a March deadline along with Blackrock and the rest, then delay other funds on January 15, move them to March and then approve them, but what would that change for the SEC? They'd get more paperwork to review when it was clear that they'd eventually have to approve them or get sued. The way I see it, Gensler knew that and wanted it all over sooner than later.

They were denying ETFs before because that was the official stance of the party and Biden administration, especially after the FTX drama, but Gensler was put between a rock and a hard place. On one hand he was destroyed in court and later in Congress, did not apply the case against Grayscale, so he took a big L, knew he'd lose against BlackRock if he denied the ETF, so he wanted to do by his masters, but also did not want the SEC to be humiliated in court once again, which is why he voted the way he voted.

they wait for reports after the fact and then investigate
They act on reports from whistleblowers. These aren't investigators but normal people who usually don't do it out of the goodness of heart but want to destroy either their own company, or competition and make some money in the process.

Man, is this really how it works? Thats insane, how do I get in on this? LMFAO JK. That is seriously no suprising though, the SEC has deep pockets and they get to regulate everything so i'm sure if you have friends at the very top you can practically get away with murder. Its also pretty wild that such a decision like this was basically up to a very few amount of people that pretty much hate BTC with a passion.
Yes, check this out:

May 5, 2023 —
The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the largest-ever award, nearly $279 million, to a whistleblower whose information and assistance led to the successful enforcement of SEC and related actions. This is the highest award in the SEC’s whistleblower program’s history, more than doubling the $114 million whistleblower award the SEC issued in October 2020.
https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2023-89

Wow. It really pays to cooperate with the SEC if you have Intel Into a huge operation that can lead to bad actor and shady business tactics . They tout the incentive and how successful that program of theirs is, very interesting, the reward is chump change to what they seized too.
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We dont own enough bitcoin on: January 18, 2024, 05:20:23 AM
The thought and belief of not having enough of something brings forth the constant pursuit of that object. Thus, acting as if we never have enough of a resource will allow us cognitively to always be looking to acquire said resource and then eventually this will lead to a surplus, right? Gosh I hope so! Becuase I sure need to get more BTC and I don't have enough!!!

I was just watching a youtube from KITCO NEWs with Gary Cardone. Thats right, Gary Cardone NOT his asshole brother Grant Cardone LMAO!!!! Gary had a lot of great things to say that were extremely logical and bullish. I'll put the link in here later.

If we have this mindset then we will always be trying to get as much of it as we can. Lets face it, getting BTC is at this point more rewarding for the average person than buying Real Estate, Gold, Silver, Oil stock, etc. Lets keep stacking! I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH, WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH!!! STACK SATS!!
So where is the link you promised to put in here?

Stocking gold is  what people does over the years same as silver and other metal assets , others now are stacking their funds inside real estate in which also good source of passive income.

But good to know that Bitcoin now is one place where people are putting their money , online currency is the future of other people like us now.

Thanks for the reminder on the link! The portion I was talking about which is what I was meaning to elaborate on can be found here, start at 29 minutes in. The reason I made this post was because Gary seems to have a ton of BTC and other assets (more than enough for the average person) and even he said he feels like he doesn't even have enough BTC. It's worth the watch his 4 minute tangent on bitcoin is so great, he also goes onto talk about gold and silver and oil and real estate but he really paints a great picture of the opportunity that everybody has right now to front run the banks, and yes there is still more time! Its not quite over yet like he says, youll zee what i mean jjst watch( I meant to put this in the post when I wrote it but got off track) https://youtu.be/6t2wjT9s0xE?si=Opc4s1B8K83Q9SmS
364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Beers and Bitcoin on: January 18, 2024, 05:04:14 AM
Today I had the pleasure to attend a luncheon with a security expert and research analyst as a keynote speaker for an incident response (IR) firm speaking to a local insurance board. An incident response firm is a cyber security company that responds to ransomware attacks for SMB and larger corporate/ SLED organizations that have fallen victim to this type of online attack. Somehow someway they figure out how to get in, and I learned that one of the first thing that they search for is the insurance policy because if they find that they know how much they can get for certain because the policy has to pay out if they have that type of insurance (which most financial / government organizations are required to by law making them easy targets).

Anyhow it was such a great story, this fellow was working in IR at the time working negotiating with a very persistent ransomware group (forget the name will add) that wanted to only be paid in Monero. Long story short regulations in the US won't allow it because some big wig in DC didn't allow it whatever whatever. They started negotiations with the hacker group and it kept going on, and on, and on, and on. For two weeks the negotiations went on and they were relentless and wouldn't give in. They were demanding an extra 20% because they said that not being paid in Monero would impact their business operations, but legally the policy is not allowed to pay out in Monero only Bitcoin and also the insurance company was not willing to pay an extra 20% because it was beyond the policy limits. Many times they spoke on the phone, exchanged emails, over and over to no end. UNTIL one day the speaker said it was a Friday two weeks in (he was also Russian) he leveled with the hacker demanding the extra 20% and said something to the extent of "I am tired, weary, I haven't slept in 2 days and I am very stressed out. I want to be done with this and enjoy my weekend. How about we just forget the 20% and i'll buy you a case of beer (he said the name of some distinct russian beer he knew the russian hacker would know)". This threw the hacker off his guard and he laughed. They negotiator and the hacker both had a good laugh about it, and the hacker agreed and said "You know what you made me laugh and I liked that, we will waive the 20% send the payment and have a good weekend".

In this case that case of beer was worth $300,000 which would have been the extra 20% the russian hacker group was asking for because they wouldn't pay the ransom in Monero. It really was a great story, and I loved every second of it. I have more stories from the lunch with very interesting things i've learned in this new space I am very happy to be working in. For the first time in a long time I'm truly excited about what i'm doing, and it just so happens to be very relevant to Bitcoin and bitcoin is used in my line of work every day. Its a lot of fun, and I am learning so much and I hope that you enjoyed the story as much as I did. Stay tuned for more.

Wow this is so dope, these cards just got a lot more legitimate in my eyes if PSA is grading them. I can't believe that. I don't know why or how I never saw these graded, have they been grading them for long? It makes me regret not buying more and completing my full set of holos! I sold basically an almost complete set of commons on here not too long ago, wish I would have held on to them now! Good luck with your sales!

367  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the world soon become tired of the US dollar? on: January 12, 2024, 05:28:02 AM
The forum would grow tired of topics like this much sooner than the world would grow tired of the US dollar. Perhaps people would grow tired of fiat currency first before they would grow tired of the US dollar.

For all we know, joining the BRICS doesn't necessarily mean leaving the US dollar. And China, BRICS largest economy, is the top trading partner of the US.

Also, this is more of geopolitical posturing, and except those countries that have lifetime rulers, the rest could change their stance as soon as leadership shifts or changes.

I love this response hah.

BRICS is not the answer to a world w/o USD as the world reserve currency, think about it the world has been tied to USD since the end of the world wars and it has only grown stronger and stronger as a globally accepted medium of exchange for years and years up until reccently. The problem is that BRICS is too diverse and honestly not really backed by anything right now other than themselves its like a huge puzzle that has been scattered across a table and not put together right now lol. Taking tons of countries to combat one for the global reserve status is no easy task.

369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gary Gensler WAS DECIDING VOTE IN SEC SPOT $BTC ETF APPROVAL on: January 12, 2024, 05:16:04 AM
But in such case ARK would sue since it was their final deadline and they'd probably accept the others on the 15th. It would be stupid of the SEC to deny 1 applicant and approve the rest a few days later if all of them wanted the same thing, which is why I'm a bit surprised that 2 people voted to deny. Maybe they wanted this to look like a split decision for the media?

I'm sure there's more to it than we know from the media. For instance, the SEC allows companies to snitch on each other and pays them some of the profits from fines if the information leads to such fine.
Therefore the SEC allows these companies to manipulate the market. Company A gets some information about shady tactics at company B for instance from a former employee. That employee gets paid for snitching, company A reports to the SEC. The SEC checks the information and contacts company A about planned enforcement. Company A shorts B stock with leverage. The SEC goes public with the investigation, the stock falls. If B is found not guilty, A gets to keep profit from shorts. If B is found guilty, its the money from shorts plus the SEC pays A for the tip. A win - win situation for the snitch.

Man, is this really how it works? Thats insane, how do I get in on this? LMFAO JK. That is seriously no suprising though, the SEC has deep pockets and they get to regulate everything so i'm sure if you have friends at the very top you can practically get away with murder. 370  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New Crypto Tax Law In US 10k+ Transactions Must Report to IRS in 15 Days on: January 12, 2024, 05:12:00 AM
If you are holding your life savings in Bitcoin, move to Singapore and live a happy life!
Seek out places with greater opportunities, with lower taxes and fewer obstacles in establishing and conducting businesses that have the potential to make a global impact. If you contemplating potential destinations, Avikz has already suggested Singapore, and I would like to add Australia, Dubai, El Salvador, and Argentina to the list.
It's not as simple as that, according to IRS, you must file your tax even you're live in other country.

Since Bitcoin is using public blockchain, everything is recorded. I don't think changing a citizenship will make you able to claim your old earnings in US is subject to the new country. But that's if you want to being a good US citizens, you have an option to lie, creating a fake business or other way to lower your tax legally.

1. I’m a U.S. citizen living and working outside of the United States for many years. Do I still need to file a U.S. tax return?

Yes, if you are a U.S. citizen or a resident alien living outside the United States, your worldwide income is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where you live. However, you may qualify for certain foreign earned income exclusions and/or foreign income tax credits. Visit Publication 54, Tax Guide for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad, for additional information.

Yes this is correct, unless you officially annouce your citizenship and pay your exit taxes, which are absurd as well. Not that I would ever do that but my goodness its so ironic that America was created due to taxation and now we are the most taxed nation in the world it seems like (I am not sure if that is true or not). Given what happened w/ Covid I would not touch Australia with a 10 foot pole! At least I still have my freedoms here in the US. Singapore would be great, but who is to say they don't get invaded in the future. If you want to find a great place to flee to that doesn't tax go to Cayman!
371  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS Criminal Investigation Unit Is Taking on More Crypto Tax Cases on: January 12, 2024, 05:09:02 AM

The mine will earn enough in JAN 2024 that I will need to do two or three sends to avoid the rule.

if there are four 4️⃣ of us and I earn 30k in a month I will need to pull the coins out when they get to 9k

i wouldn't do that because they'll think you're trying to launder money:

https://www.idenfy.com/blog/structuring-in-money-laundering/

What is Structuring?
Structuring in money laundering is when criminals make transactions intentionally splitting larger amounts into a series of smaller sums to avoid scrutiny from law enforcement or compliance obligations. In other words, criminals strategically structure deposits just under the threshold to prevent unwanted attention.

In these cases, the individual or entity typically conducts smaller transactions without requiring the financial institution to file a report with a government agency. For instance, in the United States, a report must be submitted for all cash transactions exceeding $10,000 processed by a financial institution.

Quote
this is 3 or 4 times a month.

I will need to send the coins right away so they do not go to 10k.

more fees for sure.

Is Structuring a Crime?
Even if the person obtained the funds for structuring legally, structuring is still illegal and is considered a criminal offense.

That would be a good way to turn a legitimate business into a illegitimate one it seems like  Shocked

Interesting I never knew the actual term for this I just often thought of this as a strategy that money launderers used for obvious reasons. If you look at this new article I posted this report filing with the SEC it sounds like the same one is being implemented for crypto, not just cash transactions: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5480307.0
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Bitcoin in a Cashless Society on: January 12, 2024, 04:54:01 AM
Imagine a world where your grandma pays for cookies with BTC - wild, right? 🍪

It’s already happening in countries where people are free to use Bitcoin. I have read several articles about shops accepting bitcoin as payment, this revealation also inspired me to accept Bitcoin in my store. The challenge is not businesses accepting Bitcoin as payment, but rather customers prefer to pay with fiat than spend their bitcoins.

What's your take on its survival skills in a world where cash is as ancient as floppy disks?

If this happens, then we will face a bigger centralization problem than we have ever seen. The government is not going to become pro-bitcoin, so if cash no longer exists, people will be forced to accept CBDCs.

CBDCs are inevitable, what I am really afraid of is if the government tries to pull the same shit that President Roosevelt did with the confiscation of gold nearly 100 years ago and replacing with fiat when he forced the public to turn in all of their gold coins and put a huge penalty for those who didn't abide. They would surely have a very hard time doing that because i'm sure a lot of people would say that they "lost" their coins or got "hacked" or something of that nature. I really hope that it doesn't come to that. I don't think a cashless society IMO would carry really any benefit, if anything it will grant less privacy, and ensure that you get taxed on everything.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would it be like owning a Bitcoin in 2024? on: January 12, 2024, 04:43:47 AM
100,000% get your share of the very rare, very precious, very finite SATS! Bitcoin is so rare that not even a tiny fraction of all of the people on this earth of the 8 billion people could even own 1! That is a truly rare coin and a pretty epic statement when you think about it that way. Don't rack your brain how you're going to afford it, pick up on a side hustle, find ways to earn bitcoin by exchanging or trading goods or service shoot even manual labor for the chance to earn and get paid in BTC.

Good stuff and great idea Cygan! These commercials are great and will definitely help with the adoption, 4.6 Billion influx on the first day! Thats freaking wild man. I liked all the commercials for the most part, I really liked the one that hashdex did tho I liked all the attention that guy drew I couldn't tell if they used a clip of an old movie for it though, I guess this is going to be the new norm, which is pretty epic!

Honestly lately I have been really loving the manifestation ideas where you constantly think about already having the things you want to possess and then ultimately the universe or whatever will bring it all to you, the only thing that I am finding out here is that you have to also have faith that you actually have these things! Then and only then will you have your best chance at attaining them in real life  Wink
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another attempt at Bitcoin ETF..You knew it was coming once BTC raised above ATH on: January 07, 2024, 11:56:51 PM
There were three more ETFs waiting for approval from the senate.
This time one of them have to go through since bitcoin has raised in price by 10 fold since the last time they were looking at them.
And the economic situation has changed so drastically with the collapsing of the debt ceiling.

Honestly they seriously can't delay their decision much longer can they? I'm sure IF an ETF gets approved it will have both good and bad implications. I am mostly leaning more towards them being good and positive effects overall. One can only hope! There has certainly been a lot that has happened in the world to your point since they last looked at this.

Yeah honestly m8 I think it is still too early to tell. I don't think singlehandedly the banning of mixers has caused a huge lack of activity on the forum, just like you are saying its only diverted itself into new topics on the forum such as gambling. I think that you're definitely right that activity is shifting, and who knows maybe with time the activity will shift back but 6-7 days in is definitely super early to know for sure.
