I think investing into ripple would not be a bad idea anyway. Neglecting the fact that most people refer to it as a shit coin but i believe ripple is much more of a potential coin compared to some top 20 altcoins.

you can check out coinmarketcap.com and search for alt coins with low values. whenever i want to engage into longterm holding, i search for coins that have over 100 million total supply and bag so many of them, and then hold

what motivates me to always HODL is the good fact that someday the price of the token i currently have is gonna go over x10 of it's current prices. HODL is a bad idea nor is it a negative decision, it's just the right decision and don't let current market prices entice you.

Since you're seeking to invest in a coin i'd suggest you invest in both Bitcoin and Ethereum because they are potential coins. But in order to make short term investment and profit, Bitcoin is the best because of it's market volatility.
