361  Economy / Economics / Re: Will bitcoin be banned on Philippines? on: May 13, 2018, 12:54:01 PM
I don't think so. Just because some people are scamming through bitcoins that doesn't mean Phillipines would ban bitcoin entirely.

I think they simply want to regulate it and find a way to tax it, through accreditation and licensing of BTC traders.

362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is Bitcoin used to extort people? on: May 13, 2018, 11:42:57 AM
Yes, it definitely happens. Bitcoin has made ransom deliveries even easier and more untraceable than ever for criminals because at the core of cryptocurrencies are a decentralized network of computers that collect no personal information about users. Unlike the days of duffel bags and briefcases filled with bricks of ten thousand dollars stacked a hundred at a time, Bitcoin payments can be made without an in-person meeting.
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Venezuela’s President Creates Crypto Funded Youth Bank on: May 07, 2018, 05:06:07 PM
Also I read that last week, Venezuela had offered India a 30 percent discount on crude oil purchases. The discount, however, would be applicable only if India makes the payment in Venezuela’s own Cryptocurrency – PETRO CRYPTOCURRENCY. Loved this news!
364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HUOBI.PRO - Loopholes on how to lower transaction fees on Huobi or even earn on: May 07, 2018, 05:01:48 PM
Make use of these loopholes while they last and enjoy the lowest cryptocurrency exchange trading fees ever as well as the opportunity to earn passive income on the Huobi Pro platform.
365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do the Super Rich (1%) Think of Bitcoin? on: May 06, 2018, 06:29:59 AM
Bill Gates said it is an "exciting" invention.

Elon Musk said that Bitcoin “is probably a good thing”

John McAfee said: "I don't know if it will be Bitcoin or multiples [of different currencies] but there will be a cryptocurrency standard for the world whether governments like it or not."

On the other hand, some affluent people are skeptical. For example, back in 2014, Warren Buffett said:

"It's a method of transmitting money. It's a very effective way of transmitting money and you can do it anonymously and all that. A check is a way of transmitting money, too. Are checks worth a whole lot of money just because they can transmit money? Are money orders? You can transmit money by money orders. People do it. I hope bitcoin becomes a better way of doing it, but you can replicate it a bunch of different ways and it will be. The idea that it has some huge intrinsic value is just a joke in my view."

I don’t know what he thinks about Bitcoin now, but since his interview the market cap of Bitcoin has grown massively.
366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the Most Powerful Computer on Earth Hack Bitcoin? on: May 06, 2018, 06:23:49 AM
Quantum computers could potentially become so powerful they require their own kind of cryptography, but that doesn’t mean Bitcoin and today’s encryption methods must be scrapped entirely. With some reworking, they could be made more secure.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Blockchain Survive Without Bitcoin on: May 06, 2018, 06:20:26 AM
It is a fact that Blockchain Technology was first invented and implemented for Bitcoin. After the successful implementation, blockchain was considered as a revolutionary technology which can bring transparency in the system.

Apart from the Bitcoin, there are many industries like banking, insurance, supply chain, etc, where blockchain can be implemented. State Bank of India (Largest Public Bank of India) recently announced that it will use Blockchain for Smart Contracts and KYC by next month.

So yes, I think blockchain will survive even without bitcoin.
368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on the Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash Dilemia on: May 06, 2018, 06:11:10 AM
Improving cryptocurrency as a transaction medium will depend on maintaining the high level of security that Bitcoin has always ensured, while also improving transaction speeds. Bitcoin will continue to be highly secure, but how much its transaction speeds will improve is unclear. Bitcoin Cash, once its difficulty has adjusted, could have transactions processing in two minutes and 30 seconds. The security of the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, though, is unclear.
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Positive News about Bitcoin on: May 06, 2018, 01:38:58 AM
In a small village in Ukraine, all residents are now owners of cryptocurrency, thanks to an initiative by the head of the village council. Cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin and ether, can also be used in the village to purchase items such as eggs, lard, meat, and milk.

I find it very positive and this makes me happy.
370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Needs a Boost in Norway, Europe as Crypto Exchange Loses to Bank on: May 06, 2018, 01:24:08 AM
Sturle Sunde had paid over $100k out of his own pocket to fight this case against the deep pocketed bank Nordea. Banks are private centralized corperations, they can make up any rule. Sad News for crypto traders.
371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: should i copy the ID & PW on a paper? on: April 27, 2018, 05:40:10 PM
First thing never store your coins on any exchanges or web wallets as they are prone to hacks and phishers. You need to learn from the mistakes of so many people and not try to repeat it. Although if you are still doing it than you are on your own. Also it would be safe to copy the user name and password on a paper.
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing to Bitcoin is not that easy on: April 27, 2018, 05:01:05 PM
If someone is completely new to the Bitcoin world than he might get overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge and things he needs to learn in order to be able to use bitcoin and understand it. Also things like security measures he needs to take can be daunting for someone new in the crypto world.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does bitcoin pose a threat to banks? on: April 27, 2018, 04:46:19 PM
What bitcoin does is threaten the monopoly of banks over money. If banks don't innovate drastically than they should be really worried as crypto currencies are here to stay and every day there is new innovation being made in this space. Banks wont be able to keep up with this pace of development.
374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I Be Scared Of Hackers If I Have Lot of BTC. on: April 27, 2018, 09:21:33 AM
You cant do anything if your BTC or wallet gets hacked, but you can do something before anything like that happens. What you need to do is use a separate computer or OS for storing your BTC if they are worth more than you can afford to lose. As this way you will only be using that OS for sending and receiving bitcoins into the wallet and not be doing any other thing on it.
375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should bitcoin have risen a little slowly? on: April 27, 2018, 09:14:51 AM
I don't think you understand how the bitcoin cycles work. Bitcoin has always risen this quickly and there is nothing that can stop it during those times. If you take away this volatility from Bitcoin than what you have left is not that attractive to its users, as the volatility of Bitcoin is something everyone is attracted to.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think is Bitcoin become legal in all countries? on: April 27, 2018, 08:53:14 AM
I don't think Bitcoin has been made legal in more than a handful of countries. Its going to take a long time before Bitcoin is accepted by the worlds governments. As Bitcoin is something that they aren't used to and something that they don't have any control over. And we all know that governments don't like such things.
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is keeping your money on Coinbase really that bad? on: April 26, 2018, 04:22:11 PM
First thing no matter how good a exchange is never keep your funds on it as they are prone to get hacked any time. And they insure your money up to a certain point after which you are liable. Also coinbase locks accounts from time to time for no apparent reasons and than don't reply for weeks/months.
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you agree that Bitcoin is nearly to be just like another business? on: April 26, 2018, 03:36:05 PM
Bitcoin isn't competing to be a business but a currency. Bitcoin isn't something that was made to earn money to its creators unlike businesses. There might be 50k merchants accepting bitcoin but the number of transactions they might be generating is very small and until that becomes big you cant count it as acceptance.
379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin gone too much deep?? on: April 26, 2018, 03:08:43 AM
The bitcoin price went down so much is cause with the rate of pump it went through last year this rate of dump was expected as well. The price cant always just go u, it is going to correct at some point and this is the correction that we are going through currently. Just have patience and the markets will recover like they always do.
380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC moon again? Yes. on: April 25, 2018, 05:17:50 PM
I hope so, but one can really not be sure on how the bitcoin market is going to move. I guess only time will show of what happens. But after the pump we went through last year and for such a long time I don't think the markets are going to recover this fast again.
