oh yeah. i had a lot of fun with the original sim city, but sim city 2000 sucked up like a year of my life when you add it all up....

I was around 16 at the time and had no life.  It's likely a good thing I can't remember that time in detail.  The amount of hours I spent on the game would probably make me throw up, LOL!

I tried playing it again around 8 years ago, whatever the newest one was at the time.  Started getting in to it far too much and had to stop playing it.  Apparently the newest one was a real train wreck.

Okay, just realised I know a lot more games than I thought Tongue

It's fun to sit and think back to the games from the past.  I seriously had totally forgot about how much I played Sim City back in the day.

Damn! I just thought of another one I played the fuck out of:

Oh the memories!

he wasn't a bad looking dude.. he probably suffered from some mentally debilitating disorder that caused him to feel ostracized by others.

Gayboy. Haha. That's exactly what I thought, but it doesn't matter how good looking you are if you're just a little creepy and awkward/unhinged. Women won't like that. His parents did say he had mental health problems.

Apparently he had aspergers which is a high functioning form of autism.  My nephew has aspergers and I can tell you, he's very socially awkward.  He has trouble forming relationships with people. He also tends to dwell on the same issue over and over again.  Pretty hard to get any decent conversation going with him.

You won't really get far without decent conversation with women.  One thing I don't get is why he just didn't go to the nightclub and pray on the really drunk fat ones at the end of the night.  They'll give it up to anybody.  Cheesy

So yeah, maybe he was gay.

He wanted the hot girls which he couldn't get and didn't understand. I was amazed at how he thought having a better car and a flashy lifestyle would make him more attractive when really it probably made him even more standoffish. What wowed me the most was how he would stalk people and hate that a ugly guys was with a hot girl and vise versa, he really needed a flesh light or blow up doll instead of a gun..

I'm pretty sure that kind of thinking comes with aspergers. My nephew thinks the same way.  He figures wealth and flashy things will get him the attention he wants, even though, he has trouble accepting attention and being close to people.

It's a really weird syndrome to deal with, and I'm talking from the family side of it.  I can only imagine the struggles within  for a person with aspergers.

People with aspergers have seen his video and concluded he neither had aspergers or autism.

More probable that Eliott had stunted social skills.  For instance, despite browsing PUA websites, he himself never embraced the main principle of PUA - mass approach.   The most famous pickup artists admit they have to approach dozens of women until they find the one woman who'll say yes.  The way to getting women is, frankly, not to give a shi1t about other people's opinions but Eliott cared too much what others thought.

Pickup Artists got banned from a mall in Toronto since they advertise that location to other PUA who then converged on mass and every woman complained about being approached every 30 seconds.

http://www.canadianbusiness.com/blogs-and-comment/toronto-eaton-centre-is-cracking-down-on-pick-up-artists-tweet-suggests/

Oh really, I was unaware of that.  I didn't really watch much of the video, had to stop watching. Mostly just read his manifesto. Aspergers fit though with his messed up reasoning.  I used to have this one friend, his nickname was "The relentless"  He would walk down the bar at the night club and ask every women to dance, wouldn't matter if he got shot down, he would keep going until he either danced or ran out of women, LOL!

I see it more and more these days with the younger generation.  Social media and video games are killing their social skills.  They don't know how to interact with each other in person anymore.  Gone are days of talking in a social setting, they sit locked to their cell phones and/or tablets.

The kid was definitely a whack job and I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about how it was a mass shooting.  He killed 3 with a knife. More fear mongering to push the anti gun agenda. If this brainwashing continues, it's only going to be a matter where only cops will have guns.

I already hear all the time from the younger generation that guns cause war.  Apparently thats what they are learning in school nowadays.

When all the guns are removed from the people, you can guarantee we will become slaves.

This is the real problem:

*removed images*

We need some more reinforcement on purchasing guns.. esp when certain states dont even have you need paper work.

There does need to be some kind of background check, obvious ones more strict than what happened in this case. My understanding in California is that you go in, have to fill out some paperwork to the DOJ, and wait 10 days while they do a background check.

I know Americans hate the idea, but they need to adopt similar laws like we have in Canada. Now I am only talking about the laws when it comes to obtaining firearms, the rest of the firearms laws up here are ridiculous!

I had to take 2 courses, one to own non restricted weapons (rifles) and own to own restricted weapons (handguns) Each course has 2 tests, written and practical.  You need to get over 80% on both tests.  You then have to fill this out and send it in the the RCMP: http://cfa-ltd.ca/files/921-eng.pdf.

You wait roughly 45 days for you to get a license, if you pass the requirements.

You can then go to the gun store and purchase your firearm.  You fill out some more forms and wait for those to go through, roughly a couple weeks.  We also have to keep all handguns unloaded, trigger locked and locked in a case or safe.

The gun laws in Canada are getting out of hand though.  It comes down to the fact the RCMP and government want to remove all guns from the responsible gun owners.  I guess they somehow figure criminals will listen.

Sitting here reminiscing about old school computer games and this one popped into my mind.  Surprised it hasn't been brought up yet.  I remember playing it for hours and hours, day after day.  Here is an original screen shot of it, didn't realize the game was so old.

Never played that version, but I did have this version on my old IBM Aptiva.

I really wish I still had the city I made, that thing took forever.  Once it reached full size, I was constantly tweak it and make improvements.  Then there was always the fun of setting a disaster on the city, LOL!

It was also interesting to cut power to areas, raises taxes, cut funding, etc. just to see what would happen.

On my tablet right now, Chrome on Android and experienced two logouts, logged back in and changed my pass, but I am feeling paranoid. Reasons why this happened?

I ran into this issue the other day when I deleted all my browser history.  I would log in and start cruising through threads.  I would start to comment on one and by the time I was done it would ask me to log in and i would lost my post.  Super frustrating to say the least as I would lose my post.  Turns out when I logged back in i had my login set to expire every 10 minutes.

Is that a possibility with your issue?
367  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elliot Rodger Killed 7 and Wounded 7 on: May 29, 2014, 07:16:48 AM
Geez, the more I read about this guy, the creepier it gets.  I also don't get why he was able to buy a gun in the first place.  In the State of California my understanding is that you have to fill out a form when you buy the gun, wait 10 days while they do a background check, and if everything's clean, you pick up the gun.

You would think the background check would have picked up a red flag at least.

Considering how messed up this guy was, I think we are lucky he only killed 6 people before killing himself.
368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.419 BTC for 180GH/s on: May 29, 2014, 07:08:33 AM
Alright, I got a question that I hope someone can answer.  I've bought a few different miners now and I have always messed up on the mining calculations.  Even the online calculators seem to be way off from my experience using them.

I can get one of these off of Craigslist for $450 Canadian, and it comes with a power supply.

The power supply on it's own is running about $120 Canadian, so that makes the miner $330.

I'm pretty sure the better option is just to spend the $450 on coin, but I like to see the results every day when I log in, LOL! I also like the fact that I'm mining which helps support bitcoin as a whole.

Will I make anything close to what I spend on this?  I'm not all that concerned about power costs being part of the equation.

Is it true that Stunna will be increasing the pay per post for the upcoming primedice 3? If so, how much will he be raising it to?
I'm Keeping an eye on this one too..! would be great if Stunna can make up her/his :p mind before 1st when most of the Ritz members will be switching to other campaigns .. !
Why would only most switch campaigns? My understanding is that Ritz is ending the campaign completely, why would anyone stay?
I don't know if I'm not yet fully awake or what but I can't understand what you are trying to say..! would you like to explain a lil further.

You mentioned that most of the Ritz members will be switching over to new campaigns.  My understanding is that Ritz is ending his campaign on the first.  So my question is why would only most of the members switch? Wouldn't all members ditch the Ritz campaign?

I ask because I thought maybe I was missing something.  I don't know a whole lot about the Ritz campaign. I'm assuming you would since you're a member of the Ritz campaign.

Hopefully that makes my question a little clearer.  If not, maybe I'm the one thats half asleep, LOL!
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: But we can't neglect the benefits of the banks right? on: May 29, 2014, 05:11:10 AM
Bitcoin ,The transaction process and the fee, the idea of money being transfered freely, its great.
but Bank's loans, mortgage, stock advices, watching our back for us when we lose our debit card or when theres a fraud ... these are some good services from the bank we cannot neglect. right?

Just saying because in that bitcoin trailer I heard somebody say about bitcoin, " it's like having a bank inside your pocket"

bank loans = wishing money into existance from no where. then forcing you to work hard to give them back real value plus interest
mortgages = same as above
stock advice= they make their orders first, then advice you its time to buy when its them with the sell orders... leaving you waiting for your profits while they have already made theirs
replacement debit card= holding your value and you cant get it back without the physical card. so ofcourse they will resupply a new on. just like email resupply you with new passwords when you lose your old passwords.. its not backing you up, its ensuring rightful access.

seriously if you think banks are doing you a favour then you have been eating out of the sheeps grass feeder for too long

if a third party has your funds. do not think that its a privilege id they offer you security.. or replacement access to your funds.. its your right not a privilege

People can go on the anti bank wagon and bitch about how evil banks are all they want. But without banks many people wouldn't be as successful as they are today.  If it wasn't for my bank 15 years ago or so I would have been homeless.  I was able to borrow $20,000 and keep a roof over my head.

Without my bank I wouldn't own a home today.  People can call it non existent money all they want but the roof over my head sure looks and feels real.  In a few years time when the area gets developed, I will be able to sell for a pretty good profit.

Without the bank I would be renting and paying off someones mortgage. At least now a lot of that mortgage payment is going into the equity of my home. Sure, the bank makes interest off of it, but they did lend me a large sum of money.

But our shares will go back up, so it should balance itself out.  I guess only time will tell.

Nothing outside of EU and Asia will impress.

That's a real ignorant and narrow minded opinion.

nah. you wouldn't know.

You just proved my point.  Ignorant and narrow minded.

nah. you wouldn't know.

so you have been to all other continents? you are suggesting that European and Asian cultures are superior, correct?

Obviously they have been to every corner of the earth. There are small towns all over the world that can impress the hell out of anybody.  It all depends what a person considers impressive.  There are many hovels all over Asia and Europe that would turn a persons stomach as well, just as there is in the rest of the world.

I remember when I was about 8-9 years old, I played Leisure Sweet Larry with my parent's pc,
the 8 color graphics was amazing for the time, I enjoyed that game much...  Grin

LOL!

I remember that game.  My buddy had it for the Apple IIE if I remember correctly.  The questions they asked at the beginning to prove that you were of age were hilarious.  Oddly enough, the questions are a lot harder now than they were when I was a kid, LOL!

Other than that, I think back to the store where you buy the condoms, LOL!

Classic!

You will never come out ahead if you gamble.  You may have a lucky streak and win a little.  The longer you play the more you'll lose in the long run. The casino always has the advantage.

Sorry about your luck, at least it was only 1.6 btc. I have a buddy that gambled away his condo.  The bank foreclosed because he kept gambling away his mortgage payments.

When you start gambling that much, you know there's a big problem. I personally don't gamble at all (aside from investments), and instead just live vicariously through others. I'd rather risk nothing and lose nothing than risk a lot and win a lot.

That the problem, the bigger problem was that he didn't realize it until it was too late.  I know gambling addiction is apparently a thing, but I don't get it.  Whats addictive of losing everything you have?

I know the same can be said about drug addicts, since it ends the same way, but at least you get high.  I mean, I've tried an arrange of drugs and can see how they could become addictive.  I've gambled, I can't see how that can be addictive.

What is it about gambling that makes certain people grow an addiction to it?

The lights and sound the machine makes?

First i was banned for 7 days but after writing this thread i got banned for 14days

I normally stay out of commenting on these threads, but come on, are you that dense to not figure it out?

You ever hear the saying "Don't poke the bear"

It specifically says on every sig campaign thats posts of +1 are not acceptable.

Since I'm already commenting can I make a request to the mods?

Can we please have a face palm emoticon? This one would work nice:

It's just so fitting in this thread.

Also, as a reminder in case you haven't figured it out yet: Don't poke the bear.

Anyone remembmer and play this game growing up?  First played it on the good old Commodore 64.  Later it was released on the Nintendo.  I still it to this day on the computer through a Nintendo emulator.  You can even play it online, even though I haven't tried it.

Anyone spend countless hours trying to play that morass of a game The Magic Candle?  I was just a kid and the instructions were so thick I just tried playing it without the instructions and I was clueless.  It was like a huge fantasy world and you had to write things down and the game took like 100 hours or something.  I had no patience though and it got really tough for my little kid brain.

Never heard of it, but it definitely sounds intriguing. I'm gonna have to check it out and possibly give it a try if I can find it and get it to work.
