Ok, here is another attempt:

Remember, I'm just trying to put down what I believe Evan is actually doing

So in your example, the "change" is also being mixed through several masternodes along with the actual balance of the tx. This, along with further denomination of the "change" before it comes back to your wallet as Evan stated above, would be enough to break the trail?

Yah, I don't have it right yet... Ugh! I think the layers of Masternodes was to obfuscate the IP address which might be snooped out by a Masternode.  So I'm guessing, the first Masternode can only receive the coin and pass on the instructions to another Masternode, so that no Masternode can have all the information?  Maybe several Masternodes will pass the funds and instructions along so that the possibility of having control of enough Masternodes to retain the information is pretty much nil.  Then the final MasterNode, who can only know the IP address of the last MasterNode, is allowed to "open" the instructions, and sends the amounts to their recipients.

Huh  I'll post another flow chart in a moment which might be how Evan is doing this or going to do this??
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 30, 2014, 04:57:49 AM
This is similar to what I was trying to achieve with stealth sending, minus the denomination of receiving addresses. Usually users want to send to a pre-existing address, optimally DarkSend would be able to denominate the receiving party's amount as well. Stealth addresses allow you to generate infinitely many addresses from one receiving address.

Sadly, the only way to see if you have coins in a stealth address is to have the private keys in memory which destroys cold storage completely. You would not be able to see whether or not someone had sent you coins. Without stealth sending though, the master node would have to issue new addresses which cannot happen for obvious reasons. If someone can think of a way to fully denominate the receiving party's amount it would push the coin into complete darkness. When combined with Evan's I2P implementation Dark would be as anonymous/private as possible.
+1000.

This is the thing.  It already seems to work this way.  I've used DarkSend to send funds to a second wallet via an address1.  When I try to see the balance afterwards of address1, I get 0, but I can see in my wallet that the funds have arrived.  I'm trying to understand what happens so that I can get this flowchart to be correct!

Ok, I tried my hand at a flow chart again.  I'm not sure this is accurate, but I think it works this way ??  Cheesy

Hi All,

Just thought I would share latest SGMiner Build, I just compiled from https://github.com/sgminer-dev/sgminer First time I ever compiled something in windows so very excited about it!!!! took me almost 3 hours! with all the dependency problems. I had to build a new project and copy the code and dependencies in.

This version includes the very latest commit and is the most up to date out there.

From the whitepaper:

Quote
Improved Pool Anonymity
Users  who  want  to  increase  the  anonymity  of  the pools can run scripts to “push” DarkSend
transactions through the pool by sending  money  to themselves with  DarkSend. This will allow
them to take up a space in the pool to ensure the anonymity of other users. If enough users run
scripts  like  this  one,  the  speed  of  transactions  and  the  anonymity  of  the  network  will  be
increased.

The problem I see with this is that it would be really easy to tell which addresses were pushing transactions and which were just using darksend naturally by merely the frequency of the transactions.  ie "pushed" coins will have only been sitting on the address a short while whereas non-pushed darksend transactions will have likely stood still for quite some time.

Maybe we could incorporate this pushing behavior into the masternodes themselves?  There will likely be many hundreds of masternodes (each with 1000 coins), so maybe if a subset (maybe 5-10%) pushed a few coins through darksend every mixing cycle it could create more anonymity.  The big advantage here is that there are so many masternodes with so many coins, each masternode would only have to push a small number of coins infrequently.  This would make it harder to distinguish pushed coins from those that were just sent by darksend naturally.

This is the main reason that we may have DarkSend only transactions.  If all transactions were darksent, we wouldn't have this problem.  Right now, being limited to 10< coins, people can't use darksend for moving their balance without a lot of hassle, so you don't see a lot of DS transactions happening

a. I like asking 5y/o questions. I know i seem ignorant at the time... but you wouldn't believe where it brought me in life...

b. I read a FASCINATING article yesterday about Larry Page who is brilliant on one hand, and lacked communication skills on the other hand. I strongly recommend it's read although it is long...

Wow, I just read that article and it totally inspired me!!  Sent it on to my son.  I'm sure it will inspire him as well Cheesy  Thanks!

Try focusing on what isn't instead of what is, since my what is will not be seen in your perspective

Nah, I was foolish. I should know better than to try. Sometimes my optimism gets the best of me, but the hate of humanity is always right there to teach me the lesson, again... This is why I don't contribute; always get attacked for doing it. Fuck humans.

Ah, come on, it's not so bad!  Humans also forget easily, and you can just ignore those that got their panties in a bunch Wink  Hell, come on, crypto?  Most of us are geeks if not aspies, LOL.  Hell, even the "attacks" are probably from another aspie, LOL.

You can talk to us Cheesy

Besides, NT's are so boring! (neurotypicals = "normal people") ROFL

Wasn't meant to be... This is why I avoid humans. They'd rather get mad and call names. I don't know how to communicate with anyone who talks backwards and upside down, which is most people. So I generally jsut keep to myself.

LOL, welcome to the world of Autism Spectrum  Cheesy  That's my entire family!

Ok, to answer:

None of the things are recorded in the block chain.  If you send from address X to address Y, you send the same amount as anyone else in the pool, then get "change" back with a completely new address A.  Meanwhile, Address Y is informed to come pick up his money, but he picks it up with address B.  And finally, since the blockchain doesn't know address B is the same wallet as address Y, the coin can't be found with getbalance.

All the information that was used to make this transaction happen within the MasterNode's hosting computer is never saved to the blockchain, it is erased (never having been recorded)

Eventually, if people want it this way, their account balance from any publicly used address will be 0 and only their wallet will know the real balance.

Did that make any sense?

TS why aren't you in the IRC room?

What's happening?  I couldn't get the test to run properly and gave up yesterday.... ok, I'll come Smiley

OK I found both wallet.dat files so take old dat  and copy  then paste into new dark coin wallet or dark coin wallet.dat

First thing you do is backup both wallets.dat files

Then install a new wallet from darkcoin.io.

Launch new wallet for the first time.

Now take turns dropping your backup wallet.dat files into appdata/roaming/darkcoin folder to see which one matches the address with the coins.

Once you've found the right wallet.dat just let the wallet sync and your coins will appear.

I just dropped the xcoin wallet.dat into new wallet roaming file, trying to open new wallet but it just says rescanning?
Should be in the /roaming/darkcoin folder, not /roaming folder?? or was that a typo?  Wasn't your wallet already fully sync'd?

Yes, rename and backup everything just in case.  Having a bunch of wallet.dat files around will quickly become confusing!  Even 2 wallet.dat files!

Was about to try my hand at a masternode, but running into the dependencies that don't exist problem... CAn't install dependency because dependency is fake....

.......

I know what's missing. I know I have to install it. But it doesn't exist...

MasterNode capable wallets are not available open source yet.  You must use the closed source RC1.  RC2 will also be closed source but should enable payments.  I don't know how many more release candidates we will have before it goes open source though??
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 28, 2014, 02:52:08 AM
Apologies if this has been answered before.

If I have 3000 Dark and want to create 3 masternodes, Do I need to put 1000 Dark into 3 separate wallets on 3 separate servers.

Or can I have all 3000 dark sitting in 1 wallet on a secured server and I will get 3 tickets/chances to allow me to be selected as a masternode during the random selection process?

Thanks!!!

Right now, run 3 masternodes with 1000 in each
or
run 3 masternodes on a server with 3 corresponding masternodes on another server

for the future, I think you could:
run 3 masternodes "B" on 3 server opening each one, one at a time with a personal computer running a masternode "A", when finished starting the server "B", you can put the wallet that was running masternode A into cold storage, and take it off your machine.  Do that 3 times, and it'll be the safest option for your setup.

Nope, both need to be online. At least for now.

Yah, I'm talking about the future, I hope that is???

Anybody have teamviewer willing to help me get my oldwallet n sync with new wallet I have over 200 coins in wallet stuck I tried to send my coins from old to new but the wallet never synced?
this small venture is paid of course, reasonable offers please

If you tell us what you've done so far someone can probably help you for free...  Smiley
well ive downloaded the new wallet just now, doesn't show the darkcoin that was in the old xcoin wallet. About a month ago I tried to send my darkcoin from my old xcoin wallet into the new darkcoin wallet that I downloaded at the time, after the new wallet synced and didn't show the coin in it. Ive asked a few times here on this thread and had gotten the same answer to find the appdata file which ive finally found today.(LOL) Now I don't remember what to do with it, as well as not knowing which appdata darkcoin file this is, the old or the new?

Oh gosh, Angus, I'm sorry this has been so hard for you.  What you need to do at this point, I think, is to try replacing the wallet.dat file with each of your backup wallet.dat files until you find your coins.

What I would do is name them, like 1wallet.dat, 2wallet.dat , etc...  Then try each one out.  When you try them out, you have to change the name to wallet.dat.  This file is in the folder you just finally found, and you should be able to see the wallet.dat file in there.  Keep track of which wallet is which and I hope you find your coin now finally!
ok dumb question how do I make the backup files and how do I know which wallet.dat file this is, there is only one file of this?

Just check each wallet.dat file you can find, one at a time, and maybe rename them as you check them to keep track of them.  When you put them in your darkcoin folder, they must be called wallet.dat to be opened by the wallet.  Check your trash file, see if any were deleted, check those.  I hope you find your coin!

Were they in the old address though? Does it (the blockchain explorer) show them leaving for somewhere?

He won't know how to check that, hopefully, with an updated wallet, he can check each .dat file and find it (fingers crossed)

Nope, they don't need to communicate. The masternode with the money just needs to sign a message with it. That node broadcasts it to the whole network. After than the secondary masternode is good to go.

So if I read this correctly what Evan is saying is that once the machine that doesn't hold the 1k drk get's approved by the one with the 1k drk it's a master node and the machine that holds the dark is no longer required allowing you to backup your wallet and put it away for safe keeping. Am I right?

But in that case I'm confused about how the collateral will work. Where will the .1 drk fee for bad actors come from? Or are we way past that point?

I could swear I read that differently last time I saw it?  Was it updated/corrected by Evan?  Weird how you can read something wrong....

Anyway, the .1 drk fee is still there for "bad players" but is only for those that are trying to DarkSend coins, not the masternodes.

Question I have is where will the payments for the masternodes be deposited?  LOL.  Just details though...
