361  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: All 51 hardware wallet comparisons and info/stats for collecting on: January 21, 2024, 05:48:32 PM
I’m not sure if this is the right place for this, but I know a lot of you collect hardware wallets. This is a great website to compare almost every single hardware wallet ever created today and maybe find some that you’ve never heard of.

Enjoy;    Link: https://thebitcoinhole.com/hardware-wallets

Many of us already know about thebitcoinhole.com website, and its dev is an active member on the forum. You can find the announcement for the hardware wallet comparison list here: 50 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature

Still, it's a good site to keep an eye on.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silly and scary questions, and what would you do if that were you. on: January 21, 2024, 04:17:58 PM
Basically, this hypothetical is like asking if you'd fork over your cash or valuables if some robber stuck a gun in your face.  Well, duh - of course you gotta hand that stuff over! Money can be replaced but your life can't.

In this whole give me your Bitcoin wallet at gunpoint or I'll kill you scenario your buddy cooked up, the only sane choice is to tell the baddies what they want.  I mean come on your life is way more important than some digital coins.

Obviously no one wants to end up in that nightmarish spot and  best way to avoid it is to be real careful who you tell about your Bitcoin stash.  Dont chatter to friends, family, or randos you don't 100% trust.  And if you spill to someone you do trust for safekeeping, drill it into their head that the info cannot get out under any circumstances.
363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to insert table in a thread? on: January 21, 2024, 03:58:00 PM
If you're someone who uses Word or Excel a lot, or some other software for documents and spreadsheets, you might wanna try out SCEditor.  It's a handy little tool that makes it super easy to turn whatever you're working on into BBCode formatting.  SCEditors open source, written in JavaScript and it runs right in your browser.  You can also run it locally if you want.  I've used it a bunch of times and it always works pretty well for me.

https://www.sceditor.com/

Simply copy-paste the content from your Word/Excel doc into SCEditor and, if needed, polish it up a bit. When you're done, click the "View source" icon (<>) to get the BBCode. As far as I've tested, tables and lists work like a charm too.

I just realized that the troll Shenanigan has been banned from our forum. And only an hour after the infamous "Bitcoin SV" troll was also taken down. Could this be just a coincidence? Or maybe our admin or global mods had some inside information that we weren't aware of?

I'm not sure if you reported these or not but they're still up... Also, its better to include the post text so people can see what AI spam looks like. Helps to better identify it in the future.

finist4x

You're right. Looks like I forgot to report it.

The last one I reported was pawa2.  Out of the four topics I reported, two were completely wiped, while the other two were only locked. (All four reports are marked as "good")

I'm not sure why the moderators are so lenient with these cases when it's basically the same thing as copy-pasting someone else's work, i.e. plagiarism.

And the only thing inspires me the project is 2 years old i can see their presence from the last 2 years and now they are doing their presale !

Another piece of information that suggests this is a very likely scam. If they claim to have been around for two years, why is their domain registration less than one year old?

If TryNinja got them from me and has 528, how come I only have 526?

There are a total of 539 posts visible publicly on Satoshi's profile. Your bot likely missed a few, as only 526 are included in your archive. (It's also possible that these posts were made public at some later point in time.) For example, msg28533 and msg28549 are missing from your archive, although they are both on the first page of Satoshi's post history.

369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Satoshi Nakamoto remove the 21 million BTC limit? on: January 20, 2024, 01:38:59 PM
I don't know about the code behind bitcoin but 21 million is what everyone believes to this day. If bitcoin exceeds 21 million then trust in bitcoin will collapse overnight and bitcoin will be considered a scam

It's not about opinions or beliefs here; there's a hard-coded cap in Bitcoin's protocol that tops out at 21 million coins. But many people forget that Bitcoin is open source. Anyone can poke around the code, do the math themselves, and see that hard stop.

So when some people claim that developers or insiders could change the 21 million mark if they wanted, they're showing that they obviously don't know what they're talking about.  No such 'limit per se actually exists.  You've got block rewards that keep halving on a set schedule and  past that it's just simple multiplication - the protocol handles the rest.  So if somebody says otherwise, take it with a grain of salt.  The coin count itself might be abstract, but the logic governing it is carved in stone.
370  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit stole my withdrawal… please help on: January 20, 2024, 11:10:52 AM
I understand this situation is frustrating.  When emotions run high, we can feel wronged and focus on blaming others.  However, account security is ultimately our own responsibility.  Your ex likely acted out of concern, even if her methods were questionable.

Meanwhile Rollbit must uphold their policies, even when it yields unfortunate outcomes.  You knew you couldn't open another one, but went ahead anyway.  Hard to call that unfair when you knew the risks and  still sucks to lose all that money you won.  Maybe shouldn't have tried getting around the rules, even if it seems unfair you got banned in the first place.
371  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buyin btc on: January 20, 2024, 10:16:18 AM
Someone is buying Bitcoin in 100 bitcoins batches, 3 of them happening yesterday (he bought the dip) 🙌

How do you know that someone is buying Bitcoin in batches, and that three of these are not just some random transactions on the blockchain?

Large Bitcoin purchases on centralized exchanges, whether executed in batches or not, would not be directly visible on the blockchain.
372  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why people mostly fail in trading on: January 20, 2024, 08:40:15 AM
most mistakes of traders are;

While I agree with the mentioned mistakes that often contribute to trader failures, but I think overconfidence is a big one too that not everyone talks about.  What happens is you have some wins early on and suddenly you think you're the next wolf of wall street.  You throw risk management out the window and go all in on crazy trades and  before you know it the house of cards comes crashing down.

From my own experience, staying humble is so key in this game.  You gotta accept that you'll mess up sometimes.  Trading is a skill that takes years to build. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Anybody who thinks they've mastered it overnight is in for a rude awakening.

Hey there, welcome to our little corner of the internet!  It's great to hear you're eager to learn and engage with our community.  Love seeing that kinda enthusiasm! Now about this idea of yours for a central thread with helpful links - great thought, but it might not be the most effective approach. Such threads will disappear real quick with new topics constantly poppin' up, making it difficult for new users to find.

Here's my suggestion that I think could work better - every board here has a pinned thread up top with key info for new folks. These threads are a great starting point to get acquainted with the forum's rules, guidelines, resources, etc.  So I suggest to check those babies out first to get your bearings on how we do things around here.

And if you still have questions after diggin' into those threads, make a new post and ask away! We're always down to help newbies figure things out and spread some wisdom and  so welcome again.

And, just a quick tip: please try not to write your entire posts in bold or highlight parts of the text unless it's really necessary. We prefer a more straightforward approach on this forum.

And the only thing inspires me the project is 2 years old i can see their presence from the last 2 years and now they are doing their presale !

what you guys think should i jump in or not ?

Just because a project's been around for a couple years don't automatically make it legit.  This one here promising high returns daily just for depositing BNB coins seems fishy.  No real investment can keep generating those kinds of returns and  smells like one of those Ponzi schemes where early investors get paid from the money new investors put in, not actual profits.  Especially considering the referral program - they promise you more money on more folks putting their money in. That's how Ponzis work.

Scams come in all shapes and sizes these days, but this one is already a well-known and not at all innovative. Stay away.
376  Other / Archival / Re: I have lost all my matic today on: January 19, 2024, 02:25:24 PM
What happened is I used a post on medium that had a scam address to which I sent my matic to get the new pol token. That was not required and the coins would have been converted automatically.

I'm genuinely sorry for your loss. But, I can't believe you actually fell for that scam. You sent your entire life savings to a stranger's address based on a Medium article? Are you serious? Did you not conduct any due diligence or consult with trusted sources before taking such a rash decision?

My life at this point is literally ruined. and what I have saved the past few years is now gone forever.

No. Your life is not ruined. You learned an important life lesson (albeit an expensive one), but that's it. It's just money. There are more important things in life to worry about.
377  Other / Meta / Re: Have the rules of the DT system and Forum rules amended ? ? theymos on: January 19, 2024, 10:37:33 AM
Reading various comments and posts from Theymos, it's evident to me that he expected the majority of members to participate in the voting so that the default trust list would be a good representation of what the majority of members would agree on. Obviously, this isn't the case now because only a small minority of "active" members participate in the voting.

That's not necessarily true. What statistics are you using to back this up?

Exactly.  I also don't think that only a small minority of active users participate in the voting.

According to LoyceV's Trust List Viewer, there are over 15,000 users who have created their custom trust lists at some point, which means they're actively participating in the voting system. Some of these users are probably inactive now, or have wiped their lists in the meantime.  It would be interesting to know what percentage of active users (excluding newbies) still have custom trust lists.  LoyceV can probably give us a more accurate stats.
378  Economy / Reputation / Re: What privileges does LoyceV have? on: January 18, 2024, 03:14:53 PM
This is so informative and thanks to LoyceV for passing this across to us too.
What you said is an obvious thing. These LoyceV's phrases has no merit

Oh, now it's an "obvious thing", is it?  But you didn't seem to think so when you started this thread about a non-issue.

Who's really great is digaran. He was explained to me clearly everything

Of course, give digaran all the credit. That makes perfect sense.  But hey, as long as you've learned your lesson and seen the light, that's all that matters, right?

But this is not over. I consider that LoyceV still have access to IP-data of users. Even if don’t take into account what the user peanutswar said

You can believe whatever you want. Apparently, thousands of people still believe that the Earth is flat. But that doesn't make it true.  Wink
379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to buy Bitcoin is around the time of Bitcoin Halving: April 22, 2024 on: January 18, 2024, 02:52:15 PM
Buying bitcoin during bull season is actually a bad idea, but the future is unpredictable. None of us have evidence to prove that history will definitely repeat itself again, it's all just predictions and nothing is certain. Therefore, the idea of buying bitcoin when the halving event takes place is not really a good idea.

I agree with you, DCA is the best way to buy bitcoin that we have because no one can know when the bull market will come and bitcoin will make a new ATH. I also hope history repeats itself, but I will not be subjective to the point of not having a backup plan like many others because the future is unpredictable. Everything is possible.

The upcoming halving of Bitcoin's block reward is undoubtedly a big deal.  I mean, in the past we've seen some wild price jumps after these things and  makes sense - less new bitcoin being created means increased scarcity.  But, as you know, nothing's guaranteed here.  Maybe history rhymes but it doesnt always repeat.

Still, the halvings do get people all excited and dreaming.  And perception shapes reality in investing.  So I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a hunch 2024 is gonna be a good year for Bitcoin holders.  Of course a whole lot else factors into prices too.
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Instant Bitcoin on: January 18, 2024, 02:20:52 PM
<cut>
The only Btc problem is speed. And it is solved. That btc copy is instant. Because i just don't understand why no one else sees it.

That's not true at all. There are a number of other cryptocurrencies that claim to be "Bitcoin 2.0" by offering faster transaction speeds.  Sure, maybe some of those altcoins can process transactions quicker by cutting corners.  But they just dont got the same backbone as the OG Bitcoin.  The whole point of crypto is that it's supposed to be immutable, decentralized, and secure.  Other coins out there might be sacrificing that decentralized structure - putting too much control in the hands of a few big players.  And that kinda misses the spirit of this technology.

Bitcoin's got real resilience because so many folks across the world are invested and supporting the network.  It's withstood the test of time and bounced back from crashes again and again.  The trust and acceptance thats been built so far can't just be replicated overnight.  Slow or not, BTC still has the strongest foundations in my book.

I'm always a bit skeptical when these supposed Bitcoin killers come out spouting fancy buzzwords and big promises.  In the end, nothing has truly dethroned the top dog yet.  I'd rather stick to the tried and true than jump on some flashy bandwagon.
