Who wants to step in? I'm not going to just sacrifice my investment.

If you know developers, please contact them. I wish I could code to help everyone that lost out!

Same here, the devotion is here but not the know how.

I wish i could do more

I mean i just told you guys almost exactly what needs to be done, short of coding and testing it myself (time consuming)... But this is really a marketing and leadership exercise.  I'm just a dev that is willing to help.

First of, whoever wants to really revive the old coin should take charge and start a new BCT thread to have control of the situation... Then have to recruit: working on getting new website, new domain, social media places setup.. get in contact with exchanges (mullick from cryptsy seems wanting to help), and just grease all the wheels necessary.

Until that happens all i can do is supply academic information.. anyways i'm patching my version of the code now and will be testing it.. but again, it's all academic unless a core group steps up to really drive this.

I think the key person we need is someone who knows and understand the blockchain and the issue, and that person best qualified is you. And I'm sure you will get great support from us.

For the rest, I think we can be responsible for that. We can create a website, social media, contacts with exchanges, etc. I'm sure everyone here will help.

I can code but I am with zero experience in launching/developing cryptocurrency  Sad Otherwise I would have stepped in myself.

Whoever is reputable, please step in because the new dev is backing out. Tons of people lost money in this endeavor and you can see the list at www.cryptosteam.com

+1

Also, a lot of members of the community, including me, have offered support (AC or BTC) for a reputable dev to step in and help us out.
364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - IMPORTANT NOTICE on: May 04, 2014, 09:12:05 PM
  • We will never publish a release with the original AC scamwallet as codebase
  • We will not risk users to lose potential 30 million AC which were dumped
  • we don't know whats still hidden in the sources

To clarify, if patched in the way that I suggested:
  - No users will lose coins in their wallets, except for the premine scam cannot be used, up to a certain block.  All exchanges, wallets.dat files would retain their exact amount as before.
  - I have went over the source via diff using WinMerge line by line.. and have isolated all the diffs (about 4), so there's nothing else wrong with the src.
  - Although the old client binaries cannot be trusted.  Rebuilding the client from source and distributing it via compiled binary from a trusted dev is likely fine.

After my forensic analysis.. this thing turned out to be just a fairly unsophisticated premine scam.. and really it was just laziness on everyone's part to get it to where it is +2.5 weeks.. The biggest technical hurdle with the patch is to make sure that the coins in the premine wallet cannot be used for staking, as it can be assuredly used to enable a 51% attack.

I think your explanation clears a lot of things. Many thanks for your efforts.

That means we need new DEVS.

I hope we can find them. I lost over 15 BTC in this.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

we got a lot of messages today regarding this project and seems that a lot of AC bagholder
don't want to see a new coin. Most of the AC community wants the old sources to be fixed
and patched. Therefore we are going to stop our work on ACv2.

some reasons:
  • We will never publish a release with the original AC scamwallet as codebase
  • We will not risk users to lose potential 30 million AC which were dumped
  • we don't know whats still hidden in the sources
  • big bagholders and active AC community-members don't want this

we are sorry to anounce this, but as you know, there is big responsibilty linked with
such a project. and in this case we won't take responsibility over other peoples money.

we wish you good luck!

Means all AC is now officially worthless.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - PoS on: May 04, 2014, 08:55:07 PM
Another thing, couldn't it be possible opening a wallet where we try to donate 30 Mio Asia Coins (or the exact number coins sold from the hiddenblock) and then take them off the market to protect the value of the coin.
Isn't something in this direction possible Huh

Although that's possible.. that's not strictly necessary if we patch AC code and hard fork..

Essentially only 30m + 160m or so have been distributed to people (even though 30m was given to the dev scammer as BTC, the people who received it shouldn't be punished).

So the total coins in circulation outside of the premine is only 190m.. When 320m was the target anyways for circulation after 1 year.

So it's very easy to adjust the POS reward so that the exact same # of coins appear in a year's time .. 320M from this point.. as long as the premine is eliminated from the equation..

In fact with a hardfork you can make any range of target for coins between 190m to some number.. if we want to keep it artificially rare.. it can just stay at 190M with 1% stake interest...

Well said. I completely agree.
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - PoS on: May 04, 2014, 08:16:47 PM
Hi guys, i would still advise to NOT create a new coin and do an exchange...

I've been through this before from experience trying to save RealStackCoin like this.. which although launched and made people feel better, eventually went down to 1 liteoshi in value.

The issue is that there is an existing network, of exchanges pools , and people.  Only a small percentage of those people will come and claim these coins, and getting exchange support AGAIN will be tough. and cost more money.

I still advise that the Asiacoin src is just patched up and delivered by voiding the premine.  Exchanges are ready to turn on their wallets again if we do so.  We should just take that deal.

Retaining the existing blockchain is worth something.. in fact .. it's the only intrinsic value of the coin.  And thus would have a much better chance at retaining existing coin value than a new coin.

Makes sense.

My hashing power is also at your service, if you require it.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - PoS on: May 04, 2014, 05:55:37 PM
chain of blocks had to be back here
And what about people like me who withdraw their AC from Mintpal today? Info about my coins is in much later blocks.

Exactly. I think first we need to figure out how many of those premined coins have actually been dumped in exchanges and are in circulation. That's the key point.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - PoS on: May 04, 2014, 05:16:06 PM

If you **wasted** time enough to read the topic! you'd know that it's not the same person. it's the community.
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - PoS on: May 04, 2014, 03:15:32 PM
What will you do if people show up with more than 160Million coins (in the community i mean)?
300Million just got dumped onto the exchanges as I understand it.

we are able to tracer every single transaction and we are also able to figure out
if an transaction is linked to an txoutput of the (premined) block nr. 1.

Yeah but a lot of people withdraw their money from exchanges, and if someone else dumped the premined block 1 coins on exchanges, some of them might have gone to the people's wallets, right? Getting rid of the premined coins might result in some honest people lose the coins they bought from exchanges.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AsiaCoin v2 [AC2] - PoS on: May 04, 2014, 02:30:02 PM
I think if we can successfully save it, we would make history in cryptocurrency and it would significantly add to the value of the coin because of the strong community.

Hi, please tell us all what's so special about your new altcoin.

A lot of us have been getting burned lately.

Why should we invest time, hash, and resources into your new coin?

hi altcoinherald,

this coin will be developed and maintained by experienced coderz
and passionate cryptoguys.

this coin is a pure PoS coin with 160 million coins. This coins are
going to be exchanged for (old) AsiaCoins.

There will be no hidden premine.

Transparency from the beginning. and special support from many of us.

This project is made for the AC community which got scammed by the dev.

you ask whats special about this coin?
well, the community is special.

we will make a smooth relaunch. Official multipool, multiple (3rd party) blockexplorers,
professional code review by some altcoin devs (incl. bitsta, ra1nb0wdash and others).

How you will distribute ACv2 for AC? Have some kind of plan or you will do it manually for some kind of proof?

yes we are planning to make it manually and public via this thread.
we are going to request the wallet.dat OR privatekey of your old wallet.

SIR how about me? i dont have ac wallet., im only using bittrex

Withdraw it to your local wallet, I just did so on Mintpal.

OK, I agree. Let's get rid of the self moderation here, only to get rid of suspicions.

I'm all in for a total rename.

really?
it this is what the community wants then we can make it.

Maybe we should put it to a vote? Something like Survivers Coin makes a great and fitting name.

I think the first thing the AsiaCoin V2 team should do is examine the source on the old AsiaCoin wallet and make sure there is no wallet-stealing malware located inside of the wallet.  I had some AsiaCoin but I'm not going to open up the old wallet considering it might have key loggers / malware installed and as far as i know nobody has reviewed the old wallet's code.

The old dev stole lots of money from us and the exchanges by hiding a single line of code.....who's to say the wallet doesn't have more "surprises"

I dont think they should even use the old wallet. They should create a new wallet altogether from some trustworthy source like LTC, VTC, UTC, ...
