...
how about the ability to have two units onto one? Will it fit with the existing design minus the fans?

Yes, the size of the case remains the same, so these will stack on V1 cases.

362  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom open-air case for Bitfury miners (pics and link to FS thread in OP) on: September 05, 2013, 04:34:20 PM
Since the BitFurys seem to be able to run just fine without any/much cooling, I've decided to simplify the case a bit:

Fans can still be attached to the bottom extrusions or to the top support beam (via an optional set of fan tabs and fasteners).

Note that the PSU is now fastened to the tray (via two stainless steel "fan tabs").

These changes will reduce the cost of the case somewhat and allow me to build them faster.   Grin

Thoughts?

That looks really good.  How well does the case hold the h-boards steady?

/cet

Yeah, I'm hoping I got the height just right (not too tight or too loose).

 Shocked  Nice.

The mounting plate for the rPi was really only intended for v1 m-boards and the use of the ribbon cable.

I'm open to suggestions for how to properly mount the rPi to the case for v2 boards.   Grin

The posted assembly instructions is for v1 m-boards and needs to be updated for v2.   Cry

Dual rig version:

Here's the current state of the rack mountable case for (one) BitFury rig:

  • It seems that the BF's aren't generating a lot of heat, so I went back to a standard PSU and front-only fans (92mm).
  • The front and back sheeting will be perforated aluminum.
  • On the back, there will be a bulkhead fitting for an RJ45 connector.
  • A rPi connector cable will be required in order to connect to the m-board.

What is the total width (from the edge of h-board to edge of the rPi's board?):

For the next few weeks, I will only be offering the mining trays with painted aluminum sheeting, for $95:

What's the footprint of this case?  Trying to figure out what fits where in a smallish wiring closet.

H x W x D: 8.5 x 21.125 x 9.5 inches

I see that v2 of the m-board is different than the previous one in regards to mounting the raspberry pi. Do you think it will be necessary to move the PSU to the opposite side and if so how easy it for us to do this on our own. I presume the case comes assembled with the PSU mount point on the left, no?

Yes, I've switched the placement of the PSU to the opposite side.

For all of the cases shipped so far, all you have to do (basically) is move the PSU post, PSU hold-down beam and the two nuts that are used to fasten the beam to the posts, all of which should take less than 5 minutes.

How is the case production going? How far are you into your order queue?

The queue is getting shorter.   Grin

Working as hard as I can to get them shipped asap...

The orientation of the Pi on the new version of the m-board will require the PSU to be mounted on the right-hand side of the case.

Btw, what shipping company are you using? I hope to god it's not UPS as they rape us with customs brokerage fees over here in Canada.

I always use the USPS when shipping internationally.

Now shipping with a few extra fasteners to mount whatever, like this PSU switch:

These are rough designs for BitFury and K-16s:

379  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC just posted pics of their case, PCB samples coming next week \o/ on: August 14, 2013, 11:43:18 PM
It looks like they have not changed the airflow profile in the case design any.  I wonder what the deltaT is going to be from the front 'cooler' chips to the rear 'hotter' ones. A linear airflow would have been more ideal. Oh well caseless it is.

All I need is a simple drawing of the mounting holes.   Roll Eyes

If you are undecided on whether to get the pre-assembled case, here are the assembly instructions.
