361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you need to have spare USDT in this bullrun. on: March 30, 2024, 12:50:28 AM
As some one who's ready to make money at a y time he or she would always consider having an extra cash flow because there are times when emergency opportunity will raise and if one isn't prepared with extra cash flow then such opportunities will go as waste.

Perhaps in the crypto space one really need to have some extra stable coins in his or here reserve for opportunities like trading in spot market where new coins can be listed and grabbing this opportunity will not be a problem because one is prepared with an amount that is good enough for grabbing opportunities.

If one is interested in buying altcoins, then he ore she should have some usdt in his or her reserves in other to make use of opportunities like this just as you did and if not that you had extra cashflow you would have missed all the opportunity that came your way.
362  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Knowledge is the New Gold on: March 30, 2024, 12:34:32 AM
I can't condemn the actions of the guy which you helped by teaching him what to do since his having issues with his trust wallet but I consider it an entrepreneurship skill, entrepreneurs are opportunist and since you have have the knowledge with you but not making money out of it, as an entrepreneur your friend took the opportunity to make some cool cash from other guys who will be facing such issues. It's a very good idea to make money out of your knowledge.

In the world today knowledge is the key to success, but the knowledge has to be the right knowledge, one you begin to have good knowledge about something you could make a good living out of it by just educating others on your own little knowledge.

Then knowledge is not a Gold but is power. Gold is an asset while knowledge is to solve problem therefore you have to restructure your topic again to suit the story because I didn't see any gold in the story but all about solving problems with knowledge gotten.
Perhaps the statement or title of this thread is a philosophical statement, it doesn't not really need to be connected to what is in the content but it's all related.

Knowledge is New Gold, practically means that knowledge is beginning to become valued or it's increasing with value now, hence people are beginning to pay for little knowledge which they lack . It also means knowledge is becoming source of income or a store of value like gold, if you invest in knowledge it could pay you good profit just as investing golds and the profit for knowledge is likely the 30% of BTC which the guy is about to cut out if the person who lacks the knowledge. Perhaps one need to read the content of the post to truly understand what is meant by knowledge is New Gold
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Greenaddress: Bitcoins lost when transferring wallets from old phone to new one on: March 30, 2024, 12:05:26 AM
This might be a result of phishing links that must have been connected to your device and perhaps they didn't take action since connection but decided to use the opportunity that you're moving from one phone to another an conducted a transaction.

Since the new address is not yours the it's purely a hack. That means you have been scammed and perhaps I haven't used the greenaddress wallets but I learnt it's an open source wallet but that doesn't mean it can't be hacked.

For your information, there is no way to get your funds back since it has been transferred to a new address already, even though go to the police to report or try to tack the funds it will only cost you more than the actual amount which you seek.

This just another sad news of stolen funds but a means to remind you to always keep your bitcoin safe using a good wallet like Electrum in an offline device (cold storage). Almost every wallet that has to be online is prone to hack because everyday we see new updates on hacks that means the internet is obviously a bait that could catch at any time.
364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful where you connect your wallet on: March 29, 2024, 10:36:25 PM
Security issues are one of the most important case that has been treated regularly in this forum and perhaps it's still nice to keep reminding people that privacy, security wise is a core matter for holding of any digital assets.

The person in this case who lost this founds from perspective is not a newbie in the crypto space but the fact that it's an altcoin that is recently performing very high he most have thought less of it being an interest of hackers or scammers whereas it's worth a very significant amount of money that shouldn't be joked with.

The hints you gave are very nice for the security measures of one but it's more advisable to stay offline (using a cold storage) wallet in order to remain safe although there is no 100% safety but at least we should try all our possible best to stay safe on the internet.
365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies take bitcoin as long term Choice to get the best out of bitcoin on: March 29, 2024, 09:55:44 PM
It's true that a lot of newbies / beginners in bitcoin investment are oriented with a quick profit scheme but perhaps when they join this forum it tends to turn out the other way.

I don't really blame a good number of them for having such impression about bitcoin because when you visit YouTube today and you search the word bitcoin, a lot of videos will appear and most are title how to become a millionaire in 2024! And the next learn is invest in bitcoin and you will become a millionaire in few days hence a good number of people came into the forum through all this kind of advertisements. After buying bitcoin the next expectations is for bitcoin to magically turn then into millionaires over night hence when the expectations are not met then they rush to altcoins believing that it will surge high for the expected profit.

I believe that is why the forum is there to reform the ideology of people about bitcoin, that it's not a get rich quick scheme. If only we the newbies will dedicate more time to increase our holdings for long term and hence in less than two cycles of bitcoin we will achieve the goal.
366  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Apply] Post Improvement review on: March 29, 2024, 09:21:43 PM
You have a great idea here, if there is a thread for profile and/ or post review and someone applies for a post review it will increase the urge for quality posting and perhaps a lot of people have contributed greatly on merit distribution but your idea is still fresh.

So on a personal level what I think about this thread or post is that it should be considered as a proposal first instead of the actual intention because this thread will be filled with deliberation whether it's a good idea or not hence what I suggest it you create another thread strictly for the post review application, but that will only be on how much merit source agree to this idea.
367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what percentage can a post be described as AI generated? on: March 29, 2024, 12:36:10 PM
Using AI to detect AI generated posts, it's eventually going to give you a certain amount of wrong information which is automated in it, by considering your own generated content 15% - 30% AI generated text. Although it's as result of it not being human to be rational in thinking.

Perhaps in percentage 70% and above is usually excellent for conclusion to be AI generated hence 60% and above can also be considered AI generated texts. Hence before one could conclude that a post is AI generated they must have compared it to several AI texts detectors hence if all giving same level of answer or percentage it's considered AI generated texts.
368  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think if Bitcointalk accepted videos? on: March 29, 2024, 11:52:54 AM
What are your opinions? Should it be possible or not to watch videos via the forum?

I love the idea of watching a video in the forum but I think adding a video to a thread or post should come with a whole lot of rules because if there are no rules to posting videos I believe some calibers of people would just see a video of there interest whether it has to do with the forum, bitcoin or not they will just post them here just as the social media, or they can even be people who will begin to promote there youtube channels and videos in the forum hence it could lead to a defeat in the initial idea of video posting here in the forum.

If so, do you think it should be possible to share videos from any platform, or just from specific platforms? And what would be the maximum time a video should take to be available here?
I think rules should be made on what videos are to be posted here, either from a certain platform or it should be of a certain category (like bitcoin related) before it should be posted here.

And from my perspective I think a 1 minute video is too long for a forum like this because it will some how look like social media reels, then it will definitely defeat it's concept, perhaps a 30 secs video is more likely to be okay by me. Or perhaps we have to go with Theymos idea of clicking and displaying via JavaScript into an embedded video, or more like a new tab, just to display the video.

@Lucuis got it all right. There should be a limitation on who can post a video in forum because if not so there will be a lot of abuse and I can smell that already. And for me I think member rank is quite easy to achieve for one to post a video hence it should be of senior members rank or full member+  to protect the interest of the forum.
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman Fried (scam banker fraud) 25 years on: March 29, 2024, 04:12:00 AM
Perhaps it's a nice idea to sentence him to 25 years in prison as he didn't think he was going to have such a long year in there but to his greatest surprise the judge wasn't fair to him but did what was right. If he had gotten the length of sentence that a lot of people where suggesting I guess by now I he would have better been dead because most people with pain and anger proposed that he should be sentenced to 90 years, some wanted 60 years etc. and perhaps if had gotten this length it would have equally amounted to life imprisonment because his 32 already and that to 90years or 60 years is not a joke if only he would be alive to witness it.

In conclusion, the crime that got him into 25 years in jail is always commited regularly by different people in different areas of business but this will serve as a great warning to all exchanges CEOs or exchange it's self to stay away from such crime. Hence, some exchange will begin to up there games and be more careful this time.
370  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If Centralized Exchanges No Dey, How We want Take Survive for Dis Scammers World on: March 28, 2024, 11:23:28 PM
With your rank as a hero member of the forum, I'm not expecting you to ask such questions in any kind of situations. Perhaps you should be well knowledgeable with all this things by now but the fact is no body is above learning so I will do the stress to still inform you that DECENTRALISED EXCHANGE would have been the way to out.

Before the existence of centralised exchange DEX where the full time option of every one, perhaps after some time centralised exchanges gain popularity over DEX because of it's flaws of not being able to handle some certain level of trade volume. I believe peer-to-peer trading first stated with decentralised exchange before it got to CEXs.

Hence in such a situation where scam is likely to take place one will only have to deal with certain calibers of people who are more reputable than others in order not to get scammed.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEWBY MISTAKE. WETH SENT FROM COINBASE WALLET TO COINBASE on: March 27, 2024, 11:20:35 AM
Although I have not had any experience with coinbase and WETH but I have similar experience with another coin/token which amounted to lost of funds till date.

I had this CRO tokens in a crypto.com wallet but which I tried to send it out, I never knew it can't send to a wallet address that starts with 0x... So if I had to send it out it must be with an address that starts with CRO.... So I ignorantly sent it to an ERC20 address with 0x which was the end of the token for me. I didn't receive the token till date and I was told the same thing that untill they support that token I wouldn't see it in my balance.

Why I shared this experience with you is to say that you have probably lost the token since it's not supported in coinbase, and there is absolutely no way to get it back.
372  Other / Meta / Re: What's Beginners and help section really about on: March 27, 2024, 08:06:34 AM
This case has been discussed a lot of times if I could remember but there is nothing that can be done about the fact that newbies jump into introducing themselves in the forum, because if you try to put one in the right direction, you might succeed but how about those that are not registered yet and when they come they will still do something.

So it has been left that way for a long time now, the only person that can initiate such a thing as you suggested is (Mr. Admin) Theymos which I don't think he will be taking that stress to start implementing a new rule or way just to cope with beginners introduction threads, except he will have to employ @PowerGlove to take such action.

As said by others above there are pinned threads that are supposed to guide newbies on the pros and cons of the forum in the B&H board but it's not used in the first time of a newbie until they're being directed to it. As a result of excitement they just go into introducing themselves maybe because it's a ethics that you must introduce yourself in a new environment and I believe that is the catalyst to such actions of newbies, if I was to join this forum for the first time might also fall victim of it so it's unavoidable for now.

Another example
Quote
Hello community, I have little experience of other forum but I'm now interested bitcoin now so I tried signing up here for a long time now but I have been getting ban alert that I'm using an IP that just committed a crime or something or should say evil IP.

But I haven't committed any crime ! So I used Tor browser to register the forum and it worked. So what exactly is the problem here ?

Thanks for your honest response!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5490179.0
Did you read the content of the thread? It's not out of line.. it's a question and not an introduction. The op of that thread was asking about evil IP not and introduction as others.

373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to track lightning network payment? on: March 27, 2024, 07:42:43 AM
Lightning network transactions are true privacy, it's end to end encrypted to to only the two participants in the transaction which means it's not visible to anyone else, hence can not be tracked (explored in the block explorer).

Since lightning network transactions cannot be explored or are not visible in the block explorer, there are lightning network explorers[1] that shows the stats and information about the nodes on the network. You can use any of the LN explorer, there are many of them which include; https://1ml.com/ , https://amboss.space/ , https://lightningnetwork.plus/nodes etc you can use it to know the statuses of your lightning network.

374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live games so hard to win experience? on: March 26, 2024, 11:35:50 AM
We all already know how gambling works so there are times when you can loss so many in a week or even months of straight loses, so it's not that fact that the dealers have too many too many low cards.

The realisation is subjective which means that at the same that you're might be experiencing this someone else might also be winning frequently. You know it's about luck so we say it's not yours in the main time.

You can shift to another game if blackjack isn't favourable enough any more or if you even continue you might get a win this time. Hence experience is gotten from a everyday revolution, today's experience might be different from tomorrow.
375  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Difference between the TRADITIONAL Chinese and SIMPLIFIED Chinese Mnemonic Words on: March 26, 2024, 10:19:59 AM
I'm not also from the Chinese but from my perspective, since the mnemonic words were writing in both Chinese it means that one of the two does not clearly understand the other language properly.

So if you have to print then it should be in the two languages too, or you can choose the simplified Chinese because I believe it was coined from the traditional chinese language so the chance of traditional Chinese to understand the simplified is high but for the vice to understand it's a little bit difficult.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin use case on: March 26, 2024, 09:51:48 AM
Firstly, your English is not clearly enough, you can use ai tools like grammarly to put your sentences in a better form, it's highly appreciated based on the fact that not everyone is an English native so we understand the poor writing.

Secondly, you can read the genesis book [1] to know more about bitcoin time stamp.

The website learnmeabitcoin has all the basic information of bitcoin including timestamp, so you can also read from it.[2]

377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie on: March 26, 2024, 09:03:05 AM
Perhaps with the time you have been visiting the forum you should have a little to nothing knowledge of this forum hence I will recommend you read the community rules and regulations in order to know your do's and don't of the forum which _act_ have dropped the links for you.

Most of the important informations of the forum are pinned in each of the board you visit so you should make out time to read them properly. In a simple term I will give you a few things that the forum frown at but not all are stated in the rules but they are still there. They include;
1. Plagiarism which is copy and paste of responses of people or taking people's contents and posing as if they were yours.

2. Using Ai to generate answers or response to questions which you can clearly answer from your head. Infact Ai generated contents are frowned at.

3. Lastly in the quest to rank up, you shouldn't beg for merit. It's seen as a taboo here rather make quality post in other to earn merits. And perhaps you might be wanting to know more about merit you can see them in each person profile they are required to move from one rank to another. Here is a link to how they work { https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0}
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (IMO) they are not worth the same... on: March 26, 2024, 08:48:05 AM
It amaze me to know that a lot of us still imagine bitcoin being in a physical format, it's absolutely impossible to see bitcoin in a physical format. It's a digital currency as you said hence it's flaws doesn't permit it to being a like our daily fiat or coin.

Perhaps a lot of people have made their physical bitcoin but here in the forum and outside but it can't be considered bitcoin in any way rather it's see as collectables. I could remember someone if I'm correct @cryptoevangelista created a physical bitcoin too it's not been too long ago but he understood the fact that it cannot be a real bitcoin so he made it as a collectable for himself with an encryption of his forum username. So any one can do same but we can it would only have a value for decoration but not a value of bitcoin.

379  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nobody know tomorrow (Entrust your account to someone else). on: March 25, 2024, 11:18:38 PM
The truth be say no be today we don dey discuss the matter for forum here and a lot of people don talk say instead of us to lose our investments anyhow E be at least make we find person wey we trust small tell am about our investments so that the unforeseen circumstances no go talk us unaware.

Just like some people wey dey use hardware wallet for here, na to give person like your wife or pikin wey fit stand know him right and left the passphrase or private key so that if you no dey any day em fit go open am use am one way or the other. E good to keep secret but E get some kind thing wey you need to think twice when you dey keep secret and one na your money issues, investments, bank details etc so that your people fit know how to waka use the funds do better thing for life if eventually you no dey again.
380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upon the death of a bitcoin user. on: March 25, 2024, 10:40:54 PM
The fact that it's required of us to keep some things private doesn't mean we cannot share some certain level of things with someone who we think we can trust, it's advisable that at least one of all your relatives, sisters, brothers children etc should at least know some things about you incase the unforeseen happens.

There are ways in which you can do that, for me I have wallet where I'm storing some digital assets especially bitcoin and I have told my elder sister that happens to be more closer to me than others that I have so digital assets but as time goes on I will point to you some private key that is the password to where it's being kept with that I have created an awareness in her that something is somewhere with this combination of words but at the point she may not be able to access it.

Just as nwada001 said instead of your hard work to be considered as donation when it could help your family, then you shouldn't keep everything away from them one person should be able to know your way about.
