361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason for acquiring bitcoins. on: February 11, 2024, 01:27:21 PM
Even though I have noticed some people pretending to buy Bitcoin for the love and not because they believe they can get financially comfortable through it, majority of Bitcoin investors got into Bitcoin because they know the wealth generating power of Bitcoin. Even those who got into Bitcoin because of the use case like myself, somehow they realized that it could be a store of value and started holding. So the ultimate reason for holding Bitcoin is to make more money from it, leveraging on the volatility and other amazing properties of it.

However, there are other reasons I have come to realize that made people invest in Bitcoin. Personally, I have made some adjustments in my future plans and that including adding Bitcoin to the assets I will transfer my heirs. Consequently, I'm building to HODL and never to sell my entire assets irrespective of the price Bitcoin gets to. I will experience bull and bear seasons as long as I live and will never run out of Bitcoin.

Manchester City vs Everton

Everton will be playing Manchester City at Etihad. Will they be able to stop them from entering the top of the premier league table for the first time this season? Looking at Everton's performance last match against Tottenham they had a good performance up to the point of winning Tottenham at their home. Manchester City on the other hand is the champions of Europe they have what it takes to win and remain in the EPL table till the end of the league. In this match i will be playing Manchester City to win and multiple goals of 3 and above. Because i know Everton will score and Manchester City will do everything possible to win at Etihad.
Manchester City managed to win at Everton's home ground, Manchester City should also be able to win because they will play at the Etihad Stadium. Moreover, Manchester City performance is currently difficult to control. So, playing at home against a team that is without a win in the last six matches in the Premier League, Manchester City is certainly the favorite to get three points to record ten consecutive wins and at the same time lead them to the top of the standings.
Unfortunately, Manchester City is not finding it easy to win even at Etihad as the match is standing at goalless draw as at half time. I'm not surprised though because Everton have been a difficult nut to crack for the big teams.  They were able to secure 2:2 draw with Tottenham in their last match following Jarrad Branthwaite 94th minute goal, although this is not enough to conclude that they will be able to withstand the firepower of the Cities.

I was thinking that Manchester City will have an easy win today following Liverpool's last week defeat by Arsenal that made them lose their first position for the interim should Manchester City win their outstanding match. Let's see how the second half ends and I hope the Cities are able to win this one because they desperately need the winning more than anything.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 10, 2024, 04:27:39 AM
If suddenly you went on a binge-gambling out of a lack of self-control or something else. For example, you deposit money in rapid succession after a series of losses and the casino management freezes your account. And when you call their customer support, they tell you that your account has been frozen for 3 weeks and the reason why they carried out that measure was because they suspected that you were gambling irresponsibly and decided to take that measure so that you can call yourself back to order, will you feel furious, cuss out, sign out of your account and register on another casino and continue betting. Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling or betting addiction?
This cannot change anything regarding gambling addiction. It is obvious you've never been addicted to gambling before or seen someone that have been addicted before. A gambling addict has no control over his actions and can't help it.

If the account of gambling addict is frozen for whatever reason it may be, it is a matter of creating new account in another casino or even playing physical casino. The options are just numerous besides, most casinos do not require KYC.

Stopping gambling addiction must come from the determination of the gambler after being convinced that he is going about gambling the wrong way.
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taking a break in gambling on: February 09, 2024, 07:08:25 PM
How do you guys manage to take a break in gambling? I’m not asking for advice but rather I’m just interested to know what you are doing on your own or if you really do a break.

I recently decided to take a break since I want to hold my crypto due to its increasing value and I don’t to spend it while it’s giving me passive profit. I just claiming bonus now or anything that is free to still enjoy gambling without risking my money.
This is one of the important attribute that makes a great gambler yet it is one of the hardest thing to do. Taking a break has serious psychological benefits in terms of helping the gambler dispel pressures and plan better. Anyone not able to take a break from gambling is probably addicted.

What is the instances that makes you take a break in gambling?
Some people only take a break after a major loss, a way to allow them get over it. But I do take a break after a major loss or a major win. I consider managing winning an important aspect of the gambling process so whenever I have a major win, I take a break. I do this by withdrawing my winnings and leaving just a small amount in my gambling account and whenever I lose that money, I will take a break to be able to account for the winning.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 09, 2024, 01:05:19 PM
Guys, do you often feel like me? when I raise the bet I lose and when I lower the bet I win. Does the casino system/algorithm know the betting patterns we make? So often when we bet big we are given a loss and when our bet is small we actually win, which is very annoying

I don't know if this applies to all games or not, but I feel like this often when playing table games. What do you think?
You are not a lone my friend, this do happen to me. I have never won a bet I placed outrageous amount for once, I don't know why but no matter how careful I am with the selection, as long as I stake very big amount, it doesn't always work.

I think this may be a way the bookies play tricks on our mind, thereby throwing us into fear and doubts. Ever since I realized that this pattern doesn't work, I stick to what works, not fighting to make all the money in one bet. I think that helped me find peace with myself.
367  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How dollar rise take affect the prices of things? on: February 08, 2024, 11:05:00 PM
My country people, I greet Una o. Abeg I go school graduate o but e get one thing wey I Neva really understand and I believe say the forum na the best place to ask the question. I wan really ask how dollar wey oyibo Dy use Dy take Dy affect the prices of goods and services for our country because if to say na only goods wey dem import I for say na the exchange rate when making payment but how e take affect things wey we they source raw materials locally come produce here like garri, rice, indomie, cloths, and other things
This thing Dy really make me struggle and look for means to earn in dollar.
Abeg I Dy wait for replies if possible use graphics, practicals, example and illustration anyhow wey I fit use understand am.
Dollar rise affact Nigeria because we are a net importing nation and dollar is the main currency used for international trades. Virtually everything we use in Nigeria is imported and you need dollar to import the goods. Assuming we are producing most of our things then there will not be too much dependence on the dollar.  This is the simple explanation as to why the rise of dollar affects our local currency so much.

One thing you should also know as to why the rise is so rapid is because our practices here creates unnecessary scarcity of the dollar. When an Igboman want to bring in container and there is no dollar for him to pay and do that, he will go to the black market and buy at any price, the Aboki at that end will increase his exchange rate for quick profit, na so the price go dey rise dey go.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blue card to be introduced in football. on: February 08, 2024, 08:28:54 PM
There is  these news going round about blue card sin-bins that is said to be introduced as one of the rules in football.
Basically the whole idea of this blue card sin-bins is to punish players that have committed foul against another player, so when the referee shows you blue card, you are to go outside and stay for 10 minutes while the game will still be going on, you will remain there for 10 minutes then you come back afterwards and continue with the game, however this does not take the place of yellow card and the red card.

Locally in my country Nigeria we used to do this for small goal post that is normally called monkey post, if a player tackles his opponent wrongly, we used to tell the prayer to go out and stay for some minutes and then come back, because it's most times a five aside game, so we don't usually use cards. but seeing these rules wanting to be introduced on the international scene surprises me.

So guys how do you see this new intended innovation, is it going to change the face of football across the world, let's have your opinion.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/02/08/blue-cards-to-be-introduced-for-football-sin-bins/
This new innovation reminds me so much of my childhood; then it was our way of punishing anyone that is trying to injure other players. He is normally sent out for a while, I can't remember how long, later he is brought back to the game. It is usually a bad experience if your team is losing because you will be reducing their chances of equalizing with that mini red card you just incurred for them.

I know that this new development will give more work to the coaches in terms of working on the temper of the players. Coaches will seriously advice them not to be too aggressive with their tackles. I even see this as a bigger punishment than yellow card because like I said, it is like a mini red card.
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 08, 2024, 03:48:54 PM
Sometimes many people fail to invest in bitcoin not necessarily that they don't have money to invest. Or that they need extra income to income to boost their investment chances. Some of these people are just looking for someone to act as a motivating factor for them before they can invest. Many people in here develop more interest in investing and hodling bitcoin because of their continuous visiting and reading of this thread, and seeing the knowledge that are being shared here and it motivated them. There could be several reasons why many hesitate to invest, but like you said above, investment is basically a choice.
Those are the people looking for who to blame in case anything go wrong with the investment. There are many with such character, they will never take responsibility for anything. In where I work, I still have some colleagues that still believe that Bitcoin will fail me. Funny enough, they are waiting for me to cry and regret investing in Bitcoin and always laugh at me when I ask them to invest in Bitcoin.

It is important to avoid anyone who have displayed some level of pessimism towards Bitcoin because investment requires some form of believe and trust, not forgetting the need to own up to the responsibilities.

Before deciding to hold maybe you should set some timeline on when you want to sell your stored asset so that you have something plan to hold and you will not get dismantle if you see something bearish situation in the market since it could possibly bother you.
I do not agree with you that setting the time to sell will help someone in holding especially when you want to hold for long term in accordance with our discussion here. Setting sell target means if the target is reach in two months the asset will be sold, I do not think this qualifies as the long term investment we are discussing here. I know that our plans and targets are different but when our mind is fixed on selling, we might tend to be agitated when the target price is not coming as quickly as we expect, this might be the beginning of a bigger problem.

Holding will only have sense if you have invested to much on good knowledge towards the market movement and you have a lot of experience about bullish also bearish situation.
It has been emphasized that it does not require huge amount of knowledge to be able to invest in Bitcoin even though completely knowledge is important and highly encouraged. To get started, you need just the basic knowledge thereafter you can build on your knowledge as you are building your portfolio.
370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 08:27:48 AM
Was reading a gambling related article just this morning and it was talking on random issues cut across gambling responsibly, many of which I agree with.

However, there were two terms that were made mentioned of which stole my interest unfortunately they weren't explained but only mentioned. I could have just checked them on Google but I felt reluctant and said let me bring it to the community let make it a discussion among us. The two terms were Problem Gambling and Compulsive Gambling. I want to know if they are different in meaning and how different is their effect on their victims.
Problem gambling and compulsive gambling are the same thing and in reality is the same as gambling addiction. When you feel the urge to gamble always and you cannot help it, it becomes addiction if you actually yield and gamble after all.

Anyone gambling should endeavor to watch it when his drive for gambling gets to this level because it is actually the beginning of the end of such person if decisive steps are not taken to curb such uncontrollable desires.
371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Changing initial option and losing the bet on: February 08, 2024, 08:18:02 AM
As a gambler and I do participate on physical gambling, at times this scenario often happens to me. After doing my analysis, checked statistics on games, I have selected option I want to play but when I get to gambling center I will have a thought of changing option or adding  a game  to the initial option I selected and this most time will cost losing the bet.

These acts has cost me from losing bet many times, as a gambler share your thoughts on this and have you been in a similar situation.
Sometimes you will be wondering if there is any spirit monitoring you and pushing you to do certain things or take certain decisions. I can truly understand because you are not the only one that experienced that. I don't know if the entire gambling business have a spirit they release to make one do something that will spoil the bet  Cheesy

It took me some time to understand that these are just normal things without any spiritual connotations.  It just confirms that luck is active as far as gambling is concerned. Some people will feel the urge to adjust or remove a certain game and it will happen that the game the remove or changed was what made them to win. So it is two way thing.
372  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 07, 2024, 03:19:04 PM
I don't really think that buying a fix amount of Bitcoin when talking about DCA is proper because to my own understanding, if you really want to buy through the DCA method, then you have to buy with a fix amount of money, weekly or monthly irrespective of the current price of Bitcoin, but if you want to buy a fix amount of Bitcoin, them you might  spend more or less depending on the current price of Bitcoin, but the major challenge with this strategy is that you will be forced to tamper with you emergency fund that would have been for your upkeep till month ending when you are expecting money from another source.
I did not actually said that buying a fixed amount of Bitcoin at regular interval us the same thing as the DCA method. It was a pattern I imagined to be possible, hence the reason I took my stand on it and still left room for more contribution. I have stated before that we should not only view Bitcoin investment as something reserved for the poor because Bitcoin was not just created as a means of escape from poverty even though it has the potential of changing the financial status of investors.

We must understand that there are rich people who are heavily invested in Bitcoin. They can set their target on the amount of Bitcoin they want to achieve at a certain time or age and will continue buying certain amount weekly or monthly or even yearly to get to their target. They don't necessarily need to check the price because they can purchase it at any price as money was never the factor when they even started it.

As a matter of fact, I have even seen story of someone who targeted getting 0.5BTC to achieve before his graduation from the university. Although he did not buy fixed quantity of Bitcoin per time, rather he was buying with 20% of any money that enters his hands from the parents as a student. The price of Bitcoin was cheaper then so it was easy for him to achieve.

The point I'm making is that the method of buying might vary but the ultimate goal is to buy Bitcoin and hold.
373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: February 07, 2024, 03:04:12 PM
First, it is not my wish that my son will steal money to gamble, it will not tell good of me as a father. The reason I do most of the things I do is for my heirs to have a soft landing in the issues of life so there will be no need for my son to steal.

If peradventure it happens, as it is in the power of man to propose while God disposes, then I will do my best to caution him and make him undertake serious psychological rehabilitation to avoid a repeat of such ugly act. If he is within the age to be beaten, he will receive the proportionate beating and if he has passed that age, appropriate measures will be taken.

This is why it has become necessary for us to protect our children from things that can make them for bad habits. We must endeavor to keep our gambling a secret because children are not supposed to be exposes to gambling.
374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 10:41:33 AM
I have heard about this a number of times and I keep wondering what could be the motivation for such harsh decision. Whatever it could be, I know that this will never end well because it is like gambling with money you do not have. The fact that one sold his asset alone will generate some form of desperation that will impact negatively on the decision taking of the gambler. So,  I do not support or encourage anyone to sell his assets because of gambling. Gambling should be done with spared funds, money we can afford to lose.
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 07, 2024, 08:16:12 AM
The level of risk an individual is expected to take in gambler will be dependent on his financial status so both the rich and the poor are taking risk but of different degrees.  In reality, what the rich is gambling with might actually be what the poor target to win, how then do we make comparison as to who should risk more.

Everyone is risking what they can afford to lose except for the addicts that go beyond their limits.
376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 06, 2024, 08:17:59 PM
If you don't actually have a good source of income that would be a big issue when I'm come to accumulating and holding. Because even when you manage to buy some certain quantities of bitcoin and you don't have sources that you can get your emergency funds that investment you made would later be taken as that emergency funds. Meaning that you won't be able to exercise good patient with your investment you would being in ease to sell it because of the expenses in surrounding yah. Sir as an investor you got to prepare for anything and you must have a good source to sustain that investment.
though I have seen some persons who hold without having a good source of income. They operate on discipline because of the trust they've built in Bitcoin but that won't last, when hard times strike he'll be forced to sell his coins. having a good source of income is the first stage to fuel the idea of planning before engaging in bitcoin holding, aside that all trials would be a failure.
This was my method of going about Bitcoin before I learnt about the DCA method. I had this pattern of putting most of my money in Bitcoins at once or within a short interval of time and to be honest, I do sell my Bitcoin when I have needs, most times I sell at lower prices than I bought. This did not really go well with me because it gave me a lot of bad feelings and low self esteem whenever I sell my Bitcoin and realise that prices has gone up few days from the day I sold.

If you noticed, I'm one of the most excited user of the DCA method. I'm forever grateful to @JayJuanGee for his input and guide in his posts and replies, it was a whole new learning experience for me.

The aspect of setting aside emergency funds was the game changer for me, it completely eliminated the pressure to sell my Bitcoin for simple things that small money could solve. This forum is about the best thing that has happened to me!
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: February 06, 2024, 03:58:08 PM
Fully expect Man City to take advantage of Liverpool’s slip up yesterday and destroy Brentford tonight. This is the time of every season under Pep where they rattle off 10+ consecutive victories to really swing the title pendulum in their favour.

I’m disappointed in Liverpool yesterday but we hadn’t lost in the league since September and Salah was out. We will regroup and put Burnley to the sword on Saturday.

Manchester City did exactly what you said last night.  Smiley  Brentford's goal came in a really unexpected moment but it was no problem for Manchester City. There was really a Foden show in this match by a hat-trick. Haaland wasn't very good on one-on-ones but I don't want to blame him for that much. Because Flekken made a really decent effort despite conceding 3 goals.

Liverpool were disappointing indeed.  Sad  I thought they would still be close to victory without even Salah. Because their recent performance was really convincing to me.
When Brentford scored the first goal of the match, I was thinking that Manchester City will be facing the same fate that befell Liverpool, it was not long that the Cities levelled up the match at half time. Second half then ushered in the destruction for Brentford. The next time Brentford will hear the name Phil Foden, they will take to their hills to avoid a repeat of the destruction that he did to them. Only him scored the 3 goals that reduced the once energetic Brentford to rubbles, thereby sending them closer to the relegation zone that everyone is doing their best to avoid.

Liverpool was not left out in the pain that greeted Machester's 1-3 win against Brentford. With this win, Machester City will do their best to win their outstanding match to top the league with 1 point lead over Liverpool. We cannot say that the season is over yet but it is looking like Pep Guardiola is not ready to allow Jurgen Klopp end his contract at Anfield with a trophy.
378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 06, 2024, 11:43:50 AM
I don't know if the DCA method can be calculated in terms of the Bitcoin quantity because what I do know is that it is based on dollar amount that is why it is called dollar-cost averaging. If an investor decides to buy a fixed quantity of Bitcoin per time irrespective of price fluctuations, that is possible and achievable as it may be that he would have set a target to achieve in terms of Bitcoin quantity. For instance, someone can set a target of owning 1BTC before his 20th birthday and may decide to be accumulating 0.01BTC weekly or monthly as the case may be. As expected, he would have made adequate financial preparations for this, bearing in mind that while following his plans he will also pay his bills and also set up some reserve funds. I do not see anything wrong with setting such personal targets neither does it mean that he would not have factored in price fluctuations in his planning.

I look forward to seeing what others will have to say about such plans, if it qualifies as DCA or something similar to it. I'm with my pen and my note, time to learn something new.

For me I really don't think an investor can be able to buy a fixed quantity of Bitcoin within a stipulated time interval reason being that the price of Bitcoin might keep soaring higher thereby he can't afford buying same quantity of Bitcoin as the previous one he bought while the price was lesser and moreover, just like your illustration about if a investor wants to achieve 1BTC on his 20th birthday and let's assume that the birthday would be in three years time and his DCA every week is like $1000 and from his speculation of the price of Bitcoin in that three years is like $150,000 and let's say in that 3 years the price of Bitcoin now reached $200,000 so definitely his DCA in that three years will amount $156,000 so you can see that he didn't meet up his targets of owning that 1 BTC on his birthday after his speculation 3 years back.
There is a saying that "the end justify the means", so when the end is known, there will always be means of actualizing it. You seems to sound with the tone that everyone investing in Bitcoin is so poor that they cannot afford to buy Bitcoin if the price makes x2 of the currency price. This is a wrong mindset because there are a lot of rich people investing in Bitcoin and such people can set their plans based on the quantity of Bitcoin they want to have accumulated at a certain time in the future. Some people can even set the target of  buying 1BTC per year as long as they live, to save the money for their children. These are possibilities that we cannot ignored thinking that everyone investing in Bitcoin is broke. You must understand that our purposes of investing in Bitcoin differs.

While some people are buying and holding Bitcoin as an escape from poverty, some are pushing some of their funds into Bitcoin as a hedge for their other businesses. Some are actually saving their retirement benefits in Bitcoin. We must appreciate our peculiarities as that itself is the beauty of life. What matter most is being able to invest in such a way that it will not give you pressures or discomfort.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 06, 2024, 11:23:09 AM
I just want to share this with my fellow bettors.
Have you ever taken such a huge risk on gambling before?
Yesterday I experienced what I have never experienced before but I am very much happier because my risk wasn't in vain.

A friend of mine sold her bet to me 20k Nigerian naira and I bought it because there was a cash-out on the bet, and the cash out was 20k Nigerian naira.
Besides, the games are 21 in total and 19 out of the games have entered so the games was remaining just 2 and that was why I bought the bet with a whole 20k Nigerian naira.

This is the highest risk I have ever taken on gamble.  :)Why I called this the highest risk was because if the remaining 2 games lose I will be the loser and not my friend, so that risk was very terrible but I just have to take the risk because I already have in mind that you can not win if you do not risk. But to cut long story short, I win the bet, this was like sharing the money equally with my friend.
So have you ever taken such a risk on gambe before?
It was a risk worth taking and only those who threat gambling as business will do this. You acted as a business man and as a gambler together in this and it paid off for you. I have heard about this pattern of selling running game but I've not done it before. If I were in your shoes, I don't think I would have summoned the courage to take such risk.

On a second thought, when I considered that it was 177 odds the person staked less that 30 cents, I get disappointed. What a waste odds! Well, no one is sure with anything as regards to gambling, maybe he just staked what he could afford to lose.
380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AI-generated fake IDs claimed to pass crypto exchange KYC are selling for $15 on: February 06, 2024, 11:07:33 AM
Shockingly it is just $15 to get a fake AI generated driver licenses and passports. It has been reportedly succeeded KYC verification on many crypto exchanges.
I know this development will now mark a new shift in KYC processes, another burden of technological innovation. However, a CEX with good KYC providers or rigorous KYC process will easily detect these as fakes.

Exchange users need to be careful. People are many on centralized exchanges and this makes it for scammers to look for people to scam.
Apart from beating the KYC requirements of CEX exchanges and platforms, I do not know how this could be used to scam exchange users. From the article, it is not a case of data theft, just AI doing its thing. It is the exchanges that need to be more careful before scammers use their platforms to launder funds by passing their KYC with fake identities that cannot be traced.

In our own tests, OnlyFake created a highly convincing California driver's license, complete with whatever arbitrary name, biographical information, address, expiration date, and signature we wanted. The photo even gives the appearance that the ID card is laying on a fluffy carpet, as if someone has placed it on the floor and snapped a picture, which many sites require for verification purposes. 404 Media then used another fake ID generated by this site to successfully step through the identity verification process on OKX.
We have been hearing about this type of fake verification since many years ago.. It is not new.
Exchanges require selfie with the IDs, so how will that be possible with this AI generated IDs? I know that anything is possible like printing the ID on plastic cards but then, I don't know if they already explored that option. f the scammer do that, the real face of the scammer or someone trying to evade KYC would have been captured. What do you have to say about that?
