We hit $12.50! I think this is going to be the start of a beautiful rally. You are right we hit $12.51. Rally over. lol The buyers are relentless, we have nowhere to go but up! Nobody is going to be willing to sell bitcoins for <$10, so up is the only way. I think you are right. As a miner, I stopped selling because I have a feeling Bitcoin will be worth even more once it halfs and ASIC tech gets out. I think other miners (and investors) realize this too, and started doing this as well. And the buyers know it's time to buy now before it rockets. Which in turn, shoots it up even more. Everyone is unsure of November through January. After Jan-Feb, I think we will see a more stable market. I'm thinking it's going to be $25+ by Jan-Feb. What if ASICs get released, the reward halves, but the price shoot to the moon? All the miners who thought the same as you will start selling, since it isn't going higher and we might see a crash instead.

OTOH, after the rally, the price could come crashing down too. Remember last time the price went beyond $15 /BTC. There are simply too many BTC off the order book.
I remember it pretty clearly. When the price went to $15, it did it very rapidly. It didn't make any sense from any perspective. Then the market got hit with the "bad news" that pirate was supposedly paying back his investors, creating the worry that $5 million worth of coins were about to be released to the market, with a large number of those probably seeking a conversion to fiat. This growth is slower, and, while retractions can happen, it's unlikely a >10% correction will occur. What? A 10% correction is relatively minor. We'll have plenty of those, mark my words! Having said that, I do think the current situation is bullish.

Should Mt Gox freeze Pirate's account?
Given all the evidence and multiple claims of pirate not returning funds would it not be at least somewhat reasonable for MTGOX to freeze pirate's account that he has with them?
They have frozen people's accounts in the past for much less reasonable reasons. Vote!
This hasn't been done already? Wow....
|
|
|
Why do you think this? Do you have le inside infoz?
Probably an educated guess based on the current price action. And I think I agree. Things are starting the look bullish, while sentiment is still relatively balanced between bears and bulls. So this might be the start of a longish rally. We'll wait and see I guess

The programmer finished setting up the partial payments. I will do a test payment tomorrow to make sure that everyone receives a portion of their coins.
Very good news! Let's hope you can deliver. Good luck, Hashking. I'm glad you're trying to make things right.

Kluge, I understand that you don't feel like communicating, but you should reconsider. You're showing goodwill by starting with payments, but communication will go a long way to keep your investors relatively "happy" while you work on repaying your debts. I wish you the best of luck!

This is an important conversation to be having!
I've been concerned about the large blockchain since I first started studying and using bitcoin in 2011. I recently installed the Satoshi client on a new PC and it took many hours to download/calculate the blockchain. With so many users now having fast broadband Internet access, the size of the chain isn't the killer. It is the huge I/O tasks involved. I have been trying the Satoshi client out in a Virtual Box Windows 7 image and it is nearly unusable for 2-3 hours if I haven't run it for a few days and the client has to catch back up. The hard drive just is maxed out making the physical machine nearly unusable. I've been looking at alternative clients that don't require the full block chain and am glad to see work progressing in that area.
In the next release, they will most likely make the switch to levelDB, which will be significantly faster in disk I/O.

Maybe they're trying to drag it out in the hope that pirate pays something on the 4th or 12th or when ever he last said, not that I would put any faith in that happening ever.
So you're implying that mybitcointrade reinvested user funds into Pirate's BCS&T? Hmmm, makes sense.

The silent treatment have been long enough. Viktor responded to me today so I will give them a bit more time. //DeaDTerra Any updates, DeaDTerra? Maybe it's time to post his information?

A couple quick questions-
How close are we to being able to purchase actual hardware? Obviously $/BTC has increased greatly since April when the IPO started.
Have you considered any action to help sell the IPO shares? Maybe you could remove the ask wall and release the shares in smaller batches if the price gets back up to 1 BTC/share? Just throwing out some ideas.
This is definitely a very good idea and should be considered IMO. Maybe create a motion for this? I think the wall is providing a lot of downward pressure, which prevents any actual new shares from being sold. If it doesn't work, it's not like we lost anything

2.2080185 GIPPT 2012-09-25 04:18:41
I have 19 GIPPT shares, so that's 0.1162115 per share if I'm not mistaken.

I was looking to reinvest the BTC I have sitting in my GLBSE account, but if this decision isn't turned back I might just liquidate everything and withdraw instead. I need a reliable platform. Even though Goat is acting like a 12 year old who isn't allowed to have a second ice-cream, this was totally uncalled for.
Nefario, you should definitely reconsider.

I had two 10 BTC deposits with Hashking and just received the first deposit back, so it looks like things are starting to move. Will report here once I receive the second deposit.

Just received my interest + principal! Thanks Vescudero! 'Twas a pleasure doing business with you

Make sure they don't get too cold. If it's too cold, the fluid/gas in the heatpipes may freeze, and that will cause the chip to overheat due to a lack of cooling. So be careful

What will happen with smaller investors? I have 19 GIPPT shares I'd like to liquidate. Thanks

What did u believe a Pirate Pass Throu was for?
His Pirate Pass Through was a separate program, but the money which was invested in his "low-risk" program is gone as well due to Pirate's default. Here's the quote showing the options he offered:

|
|
I'm pissed off. Seriously, I was getting 1,25% while my funds were exposed to pirate? Are you fucking kidding me? I could have gotten 7% weekly on those same funds if I wanted, with exactly the same risks. And here I thought I was diversifying my investments...
