361  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: s5 overclocking on: January 22, 2016, 08:13:39 PM
With S5, you might want to undervolt and under clock in the near future to make a profit. It is not as efficient as the S7.
not worried about it , still turning profit with s2's , and can just about break even with s1's , will be a good while before i have to worry about the s4/s5 sp20 or s4's i have

i decded to throw an s2 at it as well , so far since i started last night best share of 22.4mil for the monarch , and 17.7mil for the s2

im thinking about throwing the entire farm at it on every sunday which would be a hair over 50th
364  Bitcoin / Mining / Solo Mining with an 750GH monarch 1/22/16 on: January 22, 2016, 09:03:44 AM
figured id roll the dice for now its just a single 750gh monarch i bought this a few months ago to just play with never really mined with it , as i start to retire my s2;s i may point them at the solo pool as well
will keep this updated with my daily best share so u guys can track progress ass well

wish me some luck im going to need it

$425 with local pickup, so no shipping hassle.
good luck prelude u deff have the advantage of being able to pick them up instead of needing shipping

Many variables, the units themselves vary a bit, temperature has a large effect, etc.

Power consumption vs. clock speed is pretty much flat.

thanks with my power rate i dont have to worry to much about power consumption , so it makes sence to overclock them a bit right now , just dont wanna push them to far , at 375 im seeing an avg of 33* so ill just bump them up till i see around 45*

The review i posted should have all the data you could possibly want;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151326.0

Generally with a good PSU outputting 12v~ you'll get up to 393 or 400 before the hashrate stop rising properly per increment.

thanks thats the kind of info i was looking for , search on this site doesnt seem to work very well

is there a thread/chart or anything showing power consumption vs freq on an s5 ?
how high can u over clock an s5 and have it remain reliable

i got my first 4 s5's and so far ive been running them at 375 freq no issues temps are in the mid 30's , just dont want to push them to hard

the neptune runs perfect with the other 4 cubes but if i try to plug in that one specific cube it stops hashing on all cubes and the controller goes wacky
Yup. Question 0 is "what does it do with nothing else plugged into it" (even the display). What should happen is the unit should power up, pick up an IP address, then the light on the side of the board should light up super bright for a second, then turn on a little green LED there. If the bright LED flashes very briefly 3-4 times in a row, you have a short and the DC-DC can't turn on the FPGA or the SPI busses.

If one unit causes the whole string to crash, then it has the odd short between pins 4,6, and ground. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

controller starts up just fine with nothing plugged in

edit

i have 2 controllers and the same thing happens when i plug that cube into either controller

lightfoot,

What did I mess up the RPi or the controller, please see the picture below? Only 1 LED is on instead of three and red LED on the RPi is off. Screen lights up but without any text or bright light at start up. I was using 2 PSUs but 1 to power both controllers, probably turned on one before the other or something to create a short. I can access the web GUI, but it won't show any cubes or hash.

my neptune did this , could get to web gui but no hashing and my lights didnt come on correctly on the controller , try each cube one a time and see if it works with any of them ,. this is what i did with my neptune till i narrowed it down to one problem vube that it in the post above this .

lightfoot i got that neptune cube apart that i pmed ya about , board looks good except for the oily substance on the board , not sure what it is or were it came from , as i only ran this cube for like 2 days before it went out anyways heres the pics

bottom of the board ( i think the dark spots on it is my shadow it doesnt show any darker spots when holding it in ur hand

top

in theese u can see the oily substance on the board

and wiped off

and on the bottom, u can see here there are no dark spots

before i send it off to u i wanna clean the board well and try pluging it back in , going to be hard to clean off with qtips or a rag, can i spray the board down with electrical contact cleaner or mass airflow sensor cleaner and then blow it dry with an airgun?

Where are you shipping from most likely the cost will be to much for me to give you an offer on the s3s considering difficulty increase and BTC dropping in price but who knows let me know.

i did in the first post zipcode 84713
You did my apologies looked right past it..
Good luck with your thread.

thanks , though not in a real rush to sell anything since it all turns a profit , but if a good offer comes by then it goes lol

This is a weird request, but can you sell me just one cube? I have a 4 cube Neptune that is missing their 5'th brother.

I'd take 2 or 3 fully working cubes. Could probably work out combined shipping with allinvain if he's interested since we're both in the Montreal area. (I think?)

there ya go between the 3 of us we could buy up all the cubes
