361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mainstream media on: April 04, 2013, 08:27:56 PM
I just switched on my TV and bitcoin was being discussed on Al Jazeera's Inside Story. It was quite good, the link to Inside Story is here http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/insidestory/, but at the time of posting this the bitcoin episode is not yet uploaded.

If nothing else, bitcoin is sure getting a lot of attention lately.

363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will ByteCoin confuse people about BitCoin on: April 04, 2013, 04:17:27 PM
The protagonist/s behind this are using a large number of sock-puppets to make it look popular. Some people will be fooled by this. It's a scam, plain and simple.

If Wall Street did get involved then I wouldn't be surprised if other stock exchanges around the world followed suit.

Hi XXthetimeisnowXX,

Nobody knows where the price is going to be in the future. But personally, if I had to bet on it, I'd say we are probably still going up.
374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 21 million limit Armageddon? on: March 30, 2013, 02:20:27 AM
Let's say that a large miner with a high hash rate started to only accept transactions into a block if there was a fee above a certain limit. Wouldn't that result in tons of transactions not being handled because miners would refuse to process them?

Yes, it's essentially a free market for block-space, if there are other transactions with a higher fee than yours then they will be included first.
375  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 21 million limit Armageddon? on: March 30, 2013, 01:35:42 AM
If new blocks aren't needed to make transactions, then wouldn't it all just result in a bunch of "lazy nodes" looking for transaction fees, and not generating new blocks? Does that result in a compromise in security?

The miner must solve the block to claim the transaction fee.

377  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea enters 'state of war' with South on: March 30, 2013, 12:49:11 AM
It might very well just be a whole lot of saber rattling. But, in situations like these things can escalate beyond anyones control very rapidly. The recent announcement by the north that they are going to launch a nucular first strike has got to have put a lot of military facility's on a state of very high alert.
378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market Manipulation on: March 30, 2013, 12:32:43 AM
Yep, we definitely have had attempts at manipulation. There used to be huge bid and ask walls that would pop up all the time sending the price one way then the other. Eventually though everybody got wise and the walls stopped having an effect on the market.

Quote
North Korea announced Saturday that it had entered a “state of war” with South Korea and would deal with every inter-Korean issue accordingly.

“As of now, inter-Korea relations enter a state of war and all matters between the two Koreas will be handled according to wartime protocol,” the North said in a joint statement attributed to all government bodies and institutions.
