361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Adult Swim Bump? on: June 18, 2017, 09:21:09 PM

ROFL! I can see South Park, and I feel like they probably already did, those guys just have to be into cryptos.

But if they mention bitcoin in F is for Family, a 1970's themed animated sitcom, my head might explode. Would be hilarious though, if one of the stoner baggage handler dudes was Satoshi.

And while we are talking about it, people, if you have Netflix, for the love of God go watch F is for Family . If you can't relate, your parents were probably serial killers and the apple didn't fall far Wink

No seriously, it's great.

Yeah South Park very well may have already.  I'd be surprised if they didn't.  It's such a funny and intelligent show, yet I've never gotten into the habit of watching it.  The episodes that I have caught were very funny.  Being 20 seasons behind is too much though lol.

Totally true about F is for Family...I was just thinking that Bill Burr may have some references to it, but being based in the 70's...it may not.

I'm a big fan of Burr...check out his podcast is you like him...it's audio only and usually just him, but it's hilarious and he's just a good dude.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Adult Swim Bump? on: June 18, 2017, 08:29:46 PM

So, as far as I'm aware, this bump, Family Guy, and Almost Human have directly mentioned cryptocurrencies on primetime TV.  Are there any others you guys are aware of, and how do you feel?

There was also a reference to Bitcoin on the Simpsons, if you didn't already see it.

I'd probably expect South Park or F is for Family to have references to it at some point as well.
363  Economy / Economics / Re: Anti bitcoin/crypto/gift card/redeemable legislature bill proposed in senate on: June 18, 2017, 07:05:44 PM

Your tax dollars @ work.

Wouldn't it be nice if tax dollars went towards bettering society rather than propping up the corrupt, dysfunctional, standards of elites.

Paypal, police, DEA and others already confiscate money without just cause. This bill would give the state the power to confiscate any crypto for no reason whatsoever and imprison those who didn't report their crypto holdings so that the state could steal it.

It will only change once either the elites give up their power, or when a manipulated population rises up, unites and stops contributing to this system.  But it will not happen with a divided population as it is now.  We likely have a ways to go before that point, if ever.  But yes, it would be great if taxes one day went to improving society.

364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Model is Awesome. on: June 18, 2017, 03:59:12 PM
Come to think of it guys, This forum is full of  Anonymous users. We barely no each other yet Millions of Dollars worth of Bitcoin is handed to Trusted Members for safe keeping. Even non Anonymous Social Media like Facebook and Twitter would not encourage you to trust the most trusted person on their platform.

Why am writing this, some people erroneously equate anonymity with crimes which is why they don't bother about government obsession with centralizing Bitcoin/Blockchain believing  it will keep away bad people.  Facebook is a den of scammers even the owner don't seem to care. I feel safe here than the Social Media site and others like it.

The entire blockchain can be much safer than the entire World which is "under government control" if it self-regulate like Bitcointalk or even better. It takes only smart people to make this possible NOT politicians, elites and opaque government.
Bitcoin/Blockchain was created to be independent of government control. It's more transparent than the best countries on Earth. Blockchain will solve the pervasive corruption on Earth.  Handing it over to the Elites and governments will end up destroying its purpose.

This place is full of scammers too. Look for Altcoin sections, were dozens of ICO scams appear each month, or Investor-based games were scammers run Ponzi schemes. "Self-regulation" is pretty weak here - all you can do is open accusation and watch scammer get red trust to his account, but most times it's just a fresh throwaway or bought or hacked accounts, and very rarely it results in return of stolen funds, which should always be #1 priority in any legal system. Bitcointalk is far from perfect, you need to be smart and experienced to not get scammed here. But the good thing is, Bitcoin's network and community can't steal money from your wallet unless you send transaction yourself, while in real world governments have lots of ways to do it - they can tax you, devalue money with inflation, seize your assets whenever they want, etc.

The forum is here for anyone to join, whether they be honest and have concern about their impact to others or to practice being a scam artist with some degree of anonymity to help get away with it.  I think most people join out of self interest, to learn more about cryptocurrencies and possibly find ways to generate revenue through various avenues, some share their experience for others to learn and some are here to take advantage of those that may be a little naive or trusting without needing credibility.  Not a whole different than real life imo.  Only difference I see is that a scam artist doesn't really receive much of a consequence.  They'll probably just ditch that particular account that has been flagged and create or purchase a new one as you mentioned.
365  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Borrowing fiat against BTC on: June 17, 2017, 06:15:37 AM
Is there any exchange where I can borrow fiat (usd or eur) against BTC? I know that Bitfinex offers swap market, however, you can use the money only for trading. I am looking for fiat withdrawal.

You want to use your Bitcoin as collateral against borrowing fiat?  Depending on where you live you can just get an unsecured loan, usually at a slightly higher rate.  I doubt that banks will recognize Bitcoin as an asset, but I could be wrong.
366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay Marriage and Adoption on: June 17, 2017, 06:11:28 AM
In many countries of the world homosexuality is still illegal and is sometimes even punished with death. (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d1/World_laws_pertaining_to_homosexual_relationships_and_expression.svg/1035px-World_laws_pertaining_to_homosexual_relationships_and_expression.svg.png)

In most Western countries, same sex marriage is now permitted. Adoption has also been allowed in some countries. There are no studies that show that children grow up badly in homosexual relationships.

Why do you think that so many Western countries have problems with same rights for homosexual ppl?
And what do you think about it personally?

I don't know why homosexuality is illegal and be needed to punished by death, they are just a bunch of people being true to themselves, we can't just ignore the fact that they want their life what they want it to be, they don't want to regret not being true to themselves, why do we need to stop them.

Ignorant folks think that gay people should be obligated to live a lie their entire life, and pretend that they're straight so that they can gain the wonderful acceptance of an ignoramus.

It's not a logical way to think...just a result of insecurity and brainwashing.

What's also kind of ironic, is the amount of pedophilia that men have with young boys, which the church has become well known for.
367  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay Marriage and Adoption on: June 16, 2017, 09:37:49 PM

Wow - unbelievable how much ignorance and stereotyping there is in the modern world.

My partner and I adopted two children at birth.  They both have turned out to be very impressive and beautiful human beings.

If only heterosexual couples had to go through the same countless home-study interviews, drug tests and medical physicals just to prepare to have a child -- the world would certainly be a better place.

Good on you dude.

It can't be surprising to you to hear this type of homophobia on a global forum.  I grew up in a suburb of Toronto, and there was definitely homophobia in the culture at the time...it wouldn't have been fun to go to school as a gay person.  But I've been downtown for awhile now, and it's good to see those that have homophobia are the outsiders now.  There's a pretty large gay population that can enjoy their life without (or with minimal) ignorant judgement from others.
368  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay Marriage and Adoption on: June 16, 2017, 09:27:03 PM
I'm opposing the gay marriage. They can be together but marriage? I dont think so. But I'm okay about them adopting children because childrens needs parents no matter what the gender of the parents would be.

Why would anyone care if someone wants to merry a man, woman or a fucking dog. Who the fuck cares, why do you care? Does it affect you in any way? You should be far more concerned about the adoption but instead you are concerned about them getting married. Your logic is so flawed I don't even know what to say. Good luck in real life.

These people carry that opinion because they've been brainwashed from childhood.  If anything is repeated enough times, and a person never learns to think for themselves and form their own opinions, then they will only mimic the opinions of their parents/family/friends/culture/religion/media.
369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum a pump and dump? on: June 16, 2017, 09:10:27 PM
It's always concerning to see exponential price increases, as we're seeing over the last few months with Ethereum.  But it does make sense for all the computations and processing being done by the network to have a purpose or function, rather than to just process the transaction.

My thoughts are that there are good fundamentals, but there is no doubt there is a lot of pumping and speculative buying going on.
370  Economy / Economics / Re: Where did you first heard about Bitcoins? on: June 16, 2017, 02:52:54 AM
First heard about it probably around 2011 or so, as the payment method for the silk road.  Didn't really understand it at the time other than it being a new technology.  I only started to gain interest to understand how it actually works around 2015.
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BItcoin needs to die on: June 16, 2017, 12:45:34 AM
What use is Bitcoin if in 9 years you cant even buy groceries with this shit

You cant build a business on bitcoin because of the volatility and even if you try to runa business on bitcoin you have to wait forever for a transaction to be sent

whats the point of bitcoin, if you cant do anything with this shit?

You need to get some FIAT bruh

Where I live, 12 years ago, you could get a pretty decent house for $350,000.  That same house now costs $1.1M.  Mean income has barely moved during that time.  So purchasing power got killed.

So every currency will have its issues.  Fiat can't hold it's value, and bitcoin doesn't have worldwide adoption yet.  No one is forcing you to hold bitcoin so get rid of it.

But i have always thought ARE WE A CANCER To this planet Undecided..

I don't think we are for the EARTH to programme us to use SCIENCE ..
But i could be wrong..Especially if we kill all the fisheeeees with plastic
and spill oil all over the shop..
We sure are acting like a cancer..

Cancer is basically an uncontrolled growth, that will continue to grow even if its host dies, killing itself.  So in that respect, humans have that in common with cancer, if the host is earth.

Did you get that analogy from the Matrix?  Agent Smith was saying exactly that when Morpheus was captured  Smiley
373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When will Religions die? on: June 15, 2017, 10:35:38 PM
Probably when humanity gets smarter. But I don't think that will be anytime soon, since it's easier than ever for lower IQ people to have multiple with out much planning and survive. Where in the past, intelligence gave you a higher chance of passing down your genes.

It will likely continue for a VERY long time.  Religion is part of culture in many places still, so it will take global integration to see that.  It's already very tough to be religious in multicultural places, because it's not the "norm".

Religion, along with many things, requires subscribership to continue.  As soon as there aren't enough subscribers, they die off, and are sometimes replaced with something else.

The other side of things is that some religions function as a business and have a revenue motive (like Christianity), while others like Buddhism don't.  So there is at times a business interest to continue to operations.
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: June 15, 2017, 05:22:11 AM
Why they are only looking at the possibility of bitcoin being used for criminality or any related violence funding? Criminality acts are even existing bitcoin is not yet created. And they are only taking advantage bitcoin for it's anonymity so they found a way for supporting their criminality.

What do you mean "only" for bitcoin and criminal activity?

It is seen as a whole bunch of things, like a way of transferring money, making payments for purchases, store of value, investment, etc.

It's meant to provide an alternative to the traditional banking system, so if it's used for criminal activity, know that the criminal activity that has utilized Bitcoin is partly responsible for the increase in demand and price.

Read the OP and you will understand why I said "only". Let's say they are one of the reason to make the demand higher, but if they are using bitcoin for such filthy crimes, I'm not going to consider that as helpful to the economy. This is the disadvantage of bitcoin and almost everything has disadvantage when money is involved.

What do you consider to be helpful to the economy?  For the government to say what you should and should not do?  And everyone obeys what the government wants?  Government knows best?  People aren't supposed to serve the government.  Government is here to serve the people.  If you are harming someone else with criminal activity, in that there is a victim, of course that needs to be understood and minimized.  But Bitcoin doesn't really support too much of that type of crime.  It supports crime in the form of trading products or services that are simply prohibited by the government, but at the same time, have no victim.  Understanding that the government doesn't care at all about your life or health, tell me why these prohibitions or lack of freedom exists?
Here it is necessary to decide whether you want to live in a law-based state or not. The point is perhaps better to renounce any citizenship And thus you will save yourself from paying taxes. Therefore, you will use your Bitcoin at your discretion and not think about what someone will tell you to pay tax. But a stateless person loses some liberties as a citizen.

I don't have a problems with laws, and I think most people would agree.  I do have a problem with laws that benefit a very small group at the expense of society as a whole.  Any law that prohibits a so-called "crime" that has no victim, is infringing on people's freedom, when there is no harm being done to anyone.  Examples would be gambling, prostitution and certain classes of drugs that aren't prescribed by doctors and not supported by the pharmaceutical industry.  Although these are prohibited, they all continue and will continue indefinitely, while wasting resources in its control and putting people that did no harm to anyone into the category of being a criminal.  No good for society to operate this way.

As for renouncing citizenship...I don't think this can be done in a practical way.  Would you be able to own or rent property?  Would you be able to travel without a passport?  Can you work or have a bank account without a social insurance number?  Not really sure if this lifestyle can be lived without running into constant issues.
375  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay Marriage and Adoption on: June 15, 2017, 05:05:30 AM
I don't think that gay people should be permitted to marry and to adopt children. I personally know a few people, who happens to be homosexuals. They indulge in all sort of risky behavior, including injecting drugs and having sex with multiple partners. It is a very unhealthy way of living, and I am glad that in my country homosexuality is illegal.

And every straight person you know that doesn't do drugs, including yourself, is perfect?

Only gay people take risks and do drugs?

The worst people that I have met in my life fit into the category of being straight non-drug users.  Should that be banned too?

It's sad to see people encourage their own freedom's to be stripped and celebrate it.  Government has your back, keep paying those taxes  Cheesy

Keep crying.

Gay and transgender people are far more likely to both mental illnesses and suicidal behavior. Hardly something, that would make them effective at parenting others.

If they still want kids with their condition, fine. Then can make them (you know why right?). Adopting/buying child of someone else is not human right, mister. Child is also human being and its not 1860 anymore.

Just look at this thread, why wouldn't they have mental illnesses with a culture that condemns them because of a prehistoric mentality?  Not many places in the world to be gay and live as freely as straight folks.

You bring a stat...so now we can generalize that they're all terrible?  How many assholes do you know?  You know they're all the children of amazing straight people? lol

All those stats of mental illness unfortunately are kids of straight people.  So your argument is a complete failure.

Being open to gay people is a function of environment and culture.  Vishnu.Reang lives in a culture that condemns gay people, and so does he.  I live in a culture where gay people have the same rights.  Some cultures are able to progress while others remain stagnant.

I don't think being a good parent depends on sexual orientation.  People that have addressed their own insecurities will be better prepared, and people that haven't will struggle.

377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this theoretically possible? on: June 14, 2017, 05:49:42 PM
I know a lot of people think "whales" do this. But I am not at all convinced. I have met with many of the largest traders and I assure you they do not do foolish things like this. Wealthy people did not get their money by buying low and selling high. There would be a slim chance that the price would fall low enough for enough time to buy back. The far more likely outcome would result in a loss.

Now why on Earth would I take that risk? Especially with an asset that is growing hundreds of percentage points per year. It is not logical and pros ONLY act logically.

Not sure whether or not this happens, aside from hearing about people speaking of the trading behaviour of "whales", but not the whales themselves.

This is the only way I could see this working.  If there is a mass selloff, which creates fear and a downward momentum in the general market, which would need to continue for awhile after the "whales" were done selling.  Followed by buying and the confidence would return in the general market bidding the price back up.

For whales, I'd think the smarter play is to create exchanges and make a spread, play arbitrage opportunities to get the market efficient.
378  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay Marriage and Adoption on: June 14, 2017, 03:38:00 PM
I'm not supporter of gays. But if we live in democracy, then ok, let it go - allow gay marriage.
But I'm strongly against that they would able to adopt kids. I try to explain why:
I predict that mostly gays are from western countries. There are still many kids who are growing without parents. If gays would have right to adopt kids, these kids growing in gay family can understand it as normal thing and and they can become to be gays. In mostly European countries more people die than born, so, growing amount of gays can have negative impact for country population in long term. But, it's only my conspiracy theory.
In other case, kids who are growing in gay family can be discriminated by other kids in school.

Not a supporter of gay people?  What does that even mean?  You don't get along with them?

For OP, the issue originates from religion, being gay is a sin.  That sin has found its way into policy and law.  There are many things that people don't support, but because we have certain freedoms (varying depending on where you live), that support isn't necessary.

The time hasn't come yet in the world as a whole, but the time will come when people no longer need the permission of an ignorant population to have their freedom.

If gay people aren't harming you in any way, what do you care?  You need to control the behaviours and desires of other people?  Should other people say which desires you have that are acceptable or not?
379  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How could they have time to prepare Wtc7 to be pulled down? on: June 13, 2017, 08:42:50 PM
We have already proven that WTC 7 was an inside job.

1) The owner, Larry Silverstein (sp?) said on national television that they got everyone out of the building and then pulled it. As in they demoed it.

2) The BBC reported that WTC7 had collapsed 34 minutes before it happened. This proves foreknowledge of the event. In other words the talking heads were reading a script.

3) We have video evidence of the demolition.

What more do we need to prosecute these criminals? My only guess is that they are so high up that no one can touch them without going full out war.

The current system allows the wealthy sociopath class to go on living their lives.  It happens over and over again.  But if you get caught smoking a joint, better watch out.  Might find yourself with a criminal record.  If you financially fraud millions of people, initiate a war...that seems to be totally okay.  You might even be seen as a hero.  All these things are dependent on a government to make big decisions, which operates with corruption.
380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you convince people into you using Bitcoin? on: June 13, 2017, 07:19:22 PM
Purchase something or transfer money in front of them using it. To see is to believe, I guess. I can wax on and on about the miracle that is Bitcoin to everyone every day and no one will still believe. They will be interested and will listen but will not actually use unless I demonstrate it. I think this is the fastest and easiest way to convince people into using Bitcoin. One of the reasons almost everybody stop believing in networking people is because all they do is talk. They’ll say “Oh, my friend already has a car because of networking..” But what about them? Where’s their own  car? Actions speak louder than words.

Hands on approach.  That's a good way to go about doing it.

I'd say the best way to market anything is to benefit from the idea yourself.  So if you've benefited from Bitcoin, those that are interested can hear about your personal experience.

It's kind of like saying how do you motivate someone to start running.  Well just run yourself, and maybe an improvement in your health and mood will lead to the curiosity of others.  But sitting at home and telling people to run...doesn't seem to work so well lol.
