Is there actually a way you could send CENTS via twitter?  People have to request all crypto currencies.  You can't just say "Here is 10000 CENTS".  Possibly if you send them a private message with some sort of redeemable voucher.  The mechanism for payment would have to diverge from the typical cryptocoin address system, regardless.  So basically you have an online wallet/voucher system. 

Once they receive their voucher, you would need to translate it into a wallet.  People don't want another account with a password.  How do you secure it though?

BTW Where is the best CENTS thread ?  I think I am diverging too far from the point of this thread.

Online wallets are difficult securitywise.  To do it properly you almost need physical access to the machine to insure security.  However, we are speaking of CENTS here and not BTC/CC #s.... so not quite the same needs..  and not worth a target until CENTS take off.

I really do wish you luck and do not want to be Debbie Downer but I still see the same problem.  Why would a developer use CENTS when they can use a crypto-currency that has some value?  They can do the same work and get one of 100s of altcoins that they can then sell for money.  Which one do you need first, chicken or egg?  That kinda thing.  

edit - I like your endgame approach, but you really need to develop a set of tools to facilitate some of this stuff.  Provide consulting for people with games out there.  Again though, the people who want to monetize it are going to look at other currencies.  You really need the guys who profited from the bug step up and give some of their CENTS to create initial incentives for adoption.  That, or you find a way to create a toolset to plug into social media.  Again, how do you fund it ?  Cant' even sell CENTS.

I throw this out there just for general info and to promote brainstorming, but I googled that there is 1.2 trillion USD out there.  I believe thats cash.  Assuming that # is right, we are ironically close to the same area as the # of cents.   40 trillion cents, divided by 100 is .4 trillion, which is only off by a factor of 3.

I don't think this matters, but maybe someone could come up with an idea off this...   After all, they are named CENTS/Pennies.

Paying people pennies via twitter is interesting, but you at minimum need online wallet.  That idea is 100% no-go if someone has to download the client, etc.

Actually I love the idea about microtransactions.  It really is suited well in that regard with no decimals.  It is also so cheap that you could get by with 0 confirmations for most of the smaller transactions.


  I have to wonder though what would motivate a developer unless they're sitting on a lot of CENTS already.  Thats the main problem, why build a service to acquire something you can't sell?    You need to find a few guys who knew about the bug and for some time and have trillions and have them give developers a stake in the coin.

So what are the current options as you see them ?   I just looked at coinmarketcap and nothing is near 40 trillion, but others have decimals so you can't make fair comparison.  It is apples vs oranges.

We could have another coin where you can turn your pennies into the new coin.  Several denominations, etc.  Obviously a lot of dev work, but it could be done I would think.  

Someone said just divide by 1000 (or whatever #..)  Catman said this isn't workable.  I am ambivalent but it makes cents approach being more useful.

I agree.  I also believe such a buggy coin should have never been put on Cryptsy.  I don't even have anything against the original dev if he put the bug in (assuming it wasn't intentional).  Even Cryptsy is put in a weird spot once they add a buggy coin.  There are no clear choices.  

My main and only real point is that - Everyone complaining about these current problems fail to miss the key point and that is the STAKE BUG KILLED CENTS.

I don't think you understand what a spin doctor is, actually.  Maybe you knew of the bug and were able to profit off it immensely, I can't say, but I'm not spinning anything.

Who is the one who introduced the horrible stake bug that has killed CENTS?  If Catman added that bug then I suppose you can give him shit, but if he didn't then everyone complaining should aim it at the dev who made the stake bug.  THat stake bug is what killed CENTS and cost me my biggest mistake in buying altcoins.

 Additionally you should only complain if you are a developer on some level yourself and not just a blowhard who can't write a hello world.

When I restarted my wallet those 0 stake entries were populated with the actual amounts.

My CENTS client works fine too.  I got a couple of huge stakes then I am getting like 30 million coins on the 8th.  I am not sure how POS is supposed to work but it has been interesting. 

This could be brilliant if they use bter.com as the price for the market cap. 

Can you tell how many coins are in existence now?   The guy who implements coinmarketcap has to know that.  Not sure how easy it is with all the stake bugs etc..  i assume someone could write code to figure it out, but not sure if such code exists ?

Catman - if you read this, keep up the good work.  A couple of douchebags who talk crap are not representative of those of us who are happy to have a dev doing work on it.  I may have been screwed by this coin and not exactly a fan, but I think you've done good work.  Maybe CENTS can be salvaged.

Since there is coinye west coin, I say we divide pennies by 50 and call it "50 cent".  Maybe cash in on his fame and helped with our uhhh inflation.

Community in the sense that it keeps coins circulating etc by the advertisements.  I'd rather see the various projects in people's .signatures than paid advertising from just the guys who have the capital to pay for ads.  Coins are given value by services. I don't find signatures obtrusive and I'd like to think when I have a bitcoin/altcoin site, I'd be able to put it in my signature.

This would show how serious a person is about a 2nd generation coin.  If it isn't bitcoind API compatible then they're really not even trying IMO.  Once you get 40k USD worth of coins though, easier to just pack up.  Does anyone know who the spokesperson is by real id ?  If not, then LOL.

I found the weird time requirement to make your first post on here annoying. Almost to the extent I'd rather have discussions elsewhere.  Once I was past that, I'm all for the signatures though.  They promote community etc.

This is the conclusion I came to.  I suspect FreeTrade would need to learn ins and outs of GPU processing to make a really solid MMC.  Find what a GPU can't do, then make that small portion a regular part of the hash/PoW.  Maybe make the threads(?) interdependent moreso.

  I would love to learn GPU programming so I could speak with authority. One thing I have decided is that making something resistant to GPU/SHA256ers just makes it more susceptible to bot nets.

WHy would cryptsy use a buggy ridiculously overinflated coin as the basis of a 4th market?   Dumbest thing I've read on the internet this year so far.

THey have a naive market.  If people don't realize that price is ridiculous then bter can sell 50x what it is worth.  With the "stake bug" I assume bter has a ton of CENTS.  They're basically printing money in that market.  If they opened deposits, it would be hammered and price would drop to 1.  Ridiculous.  I wish I hadn't kept my 300 million that I paid way too much for.  Had no clue about this stake bug.
