3601  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 10% discount on Ledger hardware wallets on: November 09, 2022, 05:36:08 PM
it only applies to Nano X & S purchases (my bad) and I believe it's limited to only a few people.
I am sure it applies to the Nano S Plus now as well. Nano S isn't being sold anymore through the official store, and it's replacement is Nano S Plus. It's probably just the documentation that hasn't been updated if you read it somewhere. The content on the page was written before the Nano S Plus was even released.

You're probably right and I believe the main issue is if Ledger could collect any data along the process [even if it's just a window on LL], it makes it worse than just doing the KYC part in Binance [even if you have to go back to LL afterward].
Who knows what their partnership entails. Could in theory even include Binance sharing KYC data with Ledger in exchange for something else.

Ledger's firmware is closed-source, making the hardware device closed-source because of the choice of secure element. Ledger Live is open-source. If someone has the skills, maybe the truth is in the code. But in all honestly, it doesn't have to be. Those things don't have to be done automatically and for the public to see. An exchange can take place anytime and anywhere.
3602  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Twttoken.com Potential Scam, Claiming Token Coming From Elon Musk on: November 09, 2022, 09:50:09 AM
They couldn't even write the few sentences on their homepage correctly without making several grammatical mistakes. Amateur hour.

I just saw this in my feed I don't know if this guy is being paid to do this or if he is part of the team, he is an influencer with 27k followers...
He now has 21k followers. Maybe it dropped following that tweet, but I doubt it. That guy is far from an influencer. Most of those followers are probably fake or bought. His tweets have no engagement whatsoever. There are no likes, comments, or shares of his activity. It's an unimportant Twitter account shilling a scam.
3603  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 10% discount on Ledger hardware wallets on: November 09, 2022, 09:22:49 AM
I'm surprised they only offered a 10% discount code while some of the influencers are offering a higher discount code: e.g. 20% discount
Interesting. I didn't see that back when I created this thread. Maybe the guy posted it later. His 20% discount could be totally unrelated to Ledger's offer though. I don't want to click on the link because I don't know what it is. It mentions the word "referral", so he could have gotten a discount coupon from Ledger because of the people he referred to their shop who ended up purchasing hardware wallets through his referral link.

You're right [for the most part], but there's also this:

I saw that. I think the wording is wrong. It should probably say that if you haven't completed your KYC at Binance, you need to do it through Ledger Live. Ledger Live is just the window that allows you to perform KYC on your Binance account. You still shouldn't do it, though. That sentence makes even less sense because if you don't have a Binance account, what are you going to log in to and connect with Ledger Live? You need to have an account first. And you can't register a new Binance account today without going through KYC as well.

I will check if my Ledger Live gives me an option to connect to Binance just to see how it works. I assume that there is an option to create a new Binance account directly through Ledger Live as well just in case you don't have one. It would make sense since you can use LL to send Binance your KYC data.
3604  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit.com scamming $10,000 USD [Careful not to bet in their casino!] on: November 09, 2022, 09:07:36 AM
I am not sure why they allow their customers to use multiple accounts at the same time because there is too much room for abuse there.

I am looking at their FAQ and the part you mentioned about alt-accounts. Yes, they do allow it, but you are forgetting the most important part of that rule. You can use alt accounts as long as you have not created another account for nefarious purposes.
https://rollbit.com/faq

If your first account got limited, and you aren't allowed to place bets above a certain threshold, creating multiple accounts to avoid this restriction can be seen as a "nefarious purpose".If your betting limit is $1.000/day or per match, that doesn't give you the right to create 4 more accounts, so that you can wager a total of $5.000, for example. It might sound harsh, but that's the way they are going to look at it. You are abusing the limits placed on you as an individual.

And when you did that, Rollbit did this:

Quote
TERMINATION
We may terminate or suspend Your Account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if You breach these Terms and Conditions.

Upon termination, Your right to use the Service will cease immediately. If You wish to terminate Your Account, You may simply discontinue using the Service.
https://rollbit.com/terms-and-conditions

Using multiple accounts to undo set betting limitations can be a reason for termination because of "Any reason whatsoever".
And when that happened, you lost your right to continue using their service ("Your right to use the Service will cease immediately"). That can mean any actions such as depositing, wagering, withdrawing, etc.

I wish you could get your money back, but I am skeptical about it. Maybe they will agree to do it to look good in front of the community here, but I don't know.
I'm not a lawyer or anything like that. I am just interpreting what I see. I would advice you to seek professional help though to see if you have a case against them.
3605  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: localbitcoins.com SCAM Alert Scam! Scammers: Avelina Tumas, Fiona Gliga, Marina on: November 09, 2022, 08:11:31 AM
Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone here can do for you. You have also not provided any proof for your allegations. You can follow the scam report format if you want to see an example of how a thread in this sub-board is supposed to look like.

We also can't comment on the reasons why your account was closed and no one (except yourself) knows how you used it. Maybe you were an honest customer who was treated unfairly and didn't do anything wrong, or you might have used your account in illegitimate ways and tried to scam other users of the platform and deserved to be banned. We simply don't know your background story.
3606  Economy / Gambling / Re: Neodice.com | Futuristic Dice Platform 🎲🌌 on: November 09, 2022, 07:53:01 AM
@Neodice
The FAQ or ToS sections of your site don't contain any information about the amounts that can be won via the 3 different faucets. I would need data such as the minimum and maximum possible claims per facuet, so I can compile and add it all properly in the table of my thread. Can you tell me more about it?
3607  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Has Ledger stopped updating apps for the Nano S on: November 09, 2022, 07:44:59 AM
There is an important difference between a hardware wallet no longer receiving updates in order to support new addresses or features, and not being able to work with already existing addresses and features.
I don't see Ledger dropping support for the Nano S in a way that you won't be able to connect it with their software and keep using it, even with outdated features. If Ledger has sold over 5 million devices altogether, I am sure there are at least 1-2 million active Nano S users worldwide right now. It would be too big of a gamble to try and force them to abandon the Nano S by making it unusable with the intent to have them purchase Nano X or Nano S Plus instead. Some would take the bait and do it, while others would be lost as future customers for sure.
3608  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: November 08, 2022, 03:02:32 PM
3609  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin - društvena igra shvaćena ozbiljno on: November 08, 2022, 02:44:42 PM

Transakcija ili transaction na engleskom (ovo objašnjenje je za policajca) - "a piece of business that is done between people, especially an act of buying or selling."
3610  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Sportsbet.io SCAMMED for $5000 on: November 08, 2022, 09:47:47 AM
So, to sum up what you have said here:

- Sportsbet.io scammed you for $5.000.
- You are not sure if they are scammers because they regularly pay out your winnings.
- You are definitely sure they are scammers, and shouldn't be trusted with any money.
- Despite your claims of them scamming you, you have regularly played and withdrawn money from the casino.
- You have wagered millions of dollars worth of crypto on a platform you accuse of scamming (even after the alleged incident happened).
- You would like to warn all players not to play on Sportsbet, while you continue playing and withdrawing from there.

Did I get it all correctly?
3611  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Rebelminers.com - Cloud mining up to 8% per day on: November 08, 2022, 09:30:32 AM
Just by reading the first couple of sentences in the OP, you can see all you need to know about the project and the person promoting it.

R*******.com is a decentralized application (dApp) project

It operates in blockchain technology...
This is just a bunch of keywords you often see in the crypto niche scattered around to give this scam more legitimacy and importance.

The smart-contract was subjected to dapp high-level security audit to give further assurance that the investments will never be hacked, rugged nor stolen, not even by its creators.
Oh, high-level security, awesome. Many DeFi platforms in the past that became the subjects of scams, hacks, and rug pulls also claimed they were thoroughly audited, had bulletproof security standards, and were unbreakable. We now have that went.

I just wonder that some people can still be foolish to fall victim of this, but maybe because of ignorance.
And greed, don't forget about greed. That's the driving force for many.
3612  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Has Ledger stopped updating apps for the Nano S on: November 08, 2022, 08:54:41 AM
Or you expect they'll change the Nano S for Nano S plus when people will complain that the LL no longer supports their Nano because the software is too old!?
So the important updates will be there.
Since there have been cases where they have sent free replacement devices even after expired warranties, I could imagine a scenario where it would be possible to get a Nano S Plus if your Nano S breaks. If they run out of spare Nano S', they could ask the customer to only pay the price difference and have a Nano S Plus delivered to them instead. That could be an interesting way to get a new HW for those who still want to stay with Ledger.

I assume you could prove the LocalBitcoins account is yours if people asked you to, right? I am only asking about that one since it's been around for over 5 years and your account on LocalCoinSwap is relatively new.

How does this work exactly? Are you and your team travelling the world wherever a deal needs to be made, or do both parties have to meet in one of a few locations you operate out of? What I am asking is could I ask your team to deal with me in Zagreb, for example, and someone would be there to meet me, or do I have to come to you?

I list below some of old faucet aggregator website but I done know how to contact them. I hope this list will help you guys.

https://www.mymoonjet.com/
According to the owner, mymoonjet used to have a members area where it was possible to contact the developer. It's not there anymore, and there are no other indications of how to get in touch with the Mymoonjet people.

This site links to its Facebook page at the bottom. It takes you to https://www.facebook.com/BestFaucets. It hasn't seen any new posts since November 2021, but you can send them a message if you wanted to.

BTW, you may suggest 'Pmalek' to add the faucet details of Neodice in this thread: List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets
Yeah, I could do that. I was very skeptical about this Dice platform in the beginning because of the wrong license information they provided, but icopress addressed those concerns and explained what happened. I will read a bit more about their dice faucets because they have 3 different kinds as it seems and add the casino to the table.
3616  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX comedy and might be another exchange that bites the dust? on: November 08, 2022, 07:51:21 AM
They are not lying anything in page you posted and you are not reading it correctly... in Tier 1 you don't need to send them any documents. Period.
You are the one not reading my posts correctly. I never said you need to submit documents with level 1 KYC, did I? Here it is one more time in bold and bigger font:

To get a $2.000 per day withdrawal limit equivalent in crypto, you need to pass level 1 KYC. But they don't require the submission of scanned copies of identity documents.

You can argue that not submitting copies of personal documents and proof of address isn't proper KYC, and that's correct. Such documents are required for level 2 KYC. You can fill out fake info for level 1 KYC, and it will probably be accepted. But sooner or later, the need to submit copies of your real ID can become a thing for level 1 KYC as well. And when/if that happens, good luck explaining to the support why your initial data doesn't match with the info on your documents. All services hide behind their ToS agreements. Lying about who you are will certainly not go in your favor.

<Snip>
I remember reading that reply some time ago. 60 days is certainly better than 1 year or 10 years. It would be interesting to learn more about their offline solution and how they deal with security. Who has access to the data, and decryption keys for example? If I was a pissed off Foundation employee and a scumbag looking to profit anyway possible, could I easily gain access to the offline system and copy what I need from it?
3618  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 10% discount on Ledger hardware wallets on: November 07, 2022, 11:05:15 PM
I think you guys got a bit too carried away here. It's not Ledger that you need to complete your KYC verification with, it's with Binance. Binance now has mandatory KYC, which means no registering, trading or withdrawing from new accounts without undergoing KYC first, remember? If you already passed KYC on Binance, you aren't required to do it again with Ledger.

It's still a bad practice and shouldn't be done. I see no reason why anyone would connect their Binance account (KYC-verified or not) to Ledger Live and surely get worse exchange rates. When it comes to the data being shared with 3rd-parties and between the new partners, that's a given.
3619  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / 10% discount on Ledger hardware wallets on: November 07, 2022, 04:50:49 PM
Ledger just started a new promo campaign offering a 10% discount on all purchases in their official shop. This offer is only available for the next 48 hours.
You need to apply the promo code NYKNYC during checkout to take advantage of it.

The second piece of news is the integration of the Binance exchange within Ledger Live. The accompanying blog post in the tweet is several months old, so I am unsure when Binance was officially integrated. Regardless, the partnership allows users to trade on Binance through the Ledger Live software. KYC is required, and I am sure Ledger earns a fee on each completed trade. You will surely get better rates using Binance directly if that's what you want.
3620  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Be aware of scammers on: November 07, 2022, 09:57:09 AM
So in your website, have this term that one has to own their private key of the wallet they will use to send you payment (their wallet has to be a noncustodial wallet). Make it noticeable for all the clients and have clear FAQ for it.
Bitcoin gives you full control of your money, but that's optional and shouldn't be forced on those who don' want it. Using non-custodial wallets is the way to go, but we all know that many people still rely on exchanges and custodial services to store their coins and keys. Asking a business to force people to use Bitcoin the right way won't get you the results you want. They will just take their business elsewhere where there are no such demands. Canaan will, therefore, only be at a loss here. Recommending and suggesting the best practices is better.

The company needs to be able to identify each customer based on the information they provided to their team. It's your job to keep your sensitive info safe. Since we are talking about physical goods, the company has logs of who ordered it, names, addresses, payment methods, emails, etc. If someone requires a refund to a different crypto address than the one on file, Canaan should be able to check and identify if they are in fact speaking with the right person. If the real owner was hacked and had his identity stolen, it can become troublesome. But for that, they can only blame themselves and not the company.
