...

Yet another of the countless reasons why I don't dabble in tokens that haven't been mined, they are issued in much the same way a government issues currency.
3602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin on lightning network a different form of money? on: September 10, 2020, 05:48:27 PM
I like the analogy of an abacus or the five ball novelty whereby the funds shift backwards and forwards between two points (and only those two points)

The novelty analogy demonstrates the first ball triggers the movement of the second, then third etc shifting the transaction across numerous channels.
3603  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: September 10, 2020, 04:48:10 PM
If the liquidators have to return funds then that would be absolutely fantastic for the victims because it means those that applied for their funds to be returned will be getting a larger chunk. This is good news.

It is indeed.  Where the stumbling block is is G&T are wanting to ensure they have the "right" users by requiring anyone wanting to make a claim to undergo KYC regardless of whether or not they ever completed such a process via the Cryptopia website.  That's where the problem for most traders is, they may have had big wins or losses, but don't want to be identified (but still walk away with their burse).
3604  Other / Meta / Re: Why doesn't the Bitcointalk forum have a mobile app? on: September 10, 2020, 04:44:18 PM
Apparently, its also a good idea to make a 2020 style forum using Ionic and Node.JS, but would be hard to make an API that could log a user's credentials on the forum. I've been thinking of that idea to use Node.JS to get all of the forum's page content and turn it's UI to a minimalist design using Ionic. Ionic apps can be used as a mobile app or a website, but the themes and UI/UX is different from the original bitcointak.org design. Therefore, that app would only be a bitcointalk.org browser, but would be hard to be used for logging in.

Ironically making it harder for people to log in Via a smart device by having to utalise extra credentials goes against the howls of protests at introducing KYC or 2FA to the Forum that occurs in other parts of the forum on a daily basis.  (Keep up the good work)
3605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 10, 2020, 04:40:17 PM
It should be noted that many if not all Signature Campaigns here on BitCoinTalk pay out their participants directly in BTC.  Some have a set price in BTC per post whilst others state a price in $ US which is then converted into BTC when the payout occurs.  (Essentially it's already happening)  Grin
3606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 10, 2020, 09:25:17 AM
If you want to research paying employees in Bitcoin, then look to getpaidinbitcoin.com.au which has been doing just that for a number of years now.  You instruct your employer to deposit some, or all of your wages into the account and after setting things up, you are either paid the entire amount in bitcoin, or, a portion with the remainder being on sent to a fiat wallet.
3607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple the next bitcoin? on: September 10, 2020, 09:21:01 AM
TL; DR However just a couple of quick observations, how slowly is Ripple rising compared to Bitcoin's initial rise to fame?  Are it's crests and dips comparable?  Can you even compare them given Ripple can be shorted/longed in ways BTC was never at the same price point?

Also, ask yourself "What is Ripple used for?"  If you can't answer that, then why are you investing in it?
3608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Problem Gambling in the wake of covid-19 on: September 10, 2020, 09:16:51 AM
Whilst it's true this kind of survey has been done to death, what hasn't been factored in until now is the various kinds of lock-downs that have been imposed world wide.

It'd be interesting if the end results for hard level four lock-downs (as is the case at the moment in Melbourne) show more people gambling online, not just doing Amazon/Netflix/what-ever-else shopping online (including Uber Eats etc).  With more people working from home, they are less likely to drop into a live Casino after work on a Friday to let their hair down.
3609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: September 10, 2020, 09:11:50 AM
Did anyone happen to catch the interview on the BBC radio program overnight "Hard Talk"?  The senior Republican official being interviewed researches public sentiment and advises the GOP of the trends and concerns of the Republican voters who it seems think Trump will loose in the key 11 states with the others not being in contention (i.e. not swing state enough) with billions of dollars being spent on advertorials.

Then today the "Covid Recordings" have come to light, so it's looking less likely the GOP will win.  (Stranger things have been known to happen)
3610  Other / Meta / Re: Why doesn't the Bitcointalk forum have a mobile app? on: September 10, 2020, 09:02:06 AM
How would having an app be that much different or better to simply browsing the web site via your mobile phone's browser such as Firefox?  I browse the forum via Firefox on my mobile phone logged in via my mobile alt and haven't had any issues.
3611  Other / Meta / Re: Why was LN moved to altcoins? on: September 10, 2020, 08:59:38 AM
As with "defi", I can't say I've ever heard of "Wrapped bitcoin" I tend to agree that if it isn't bitcoin or (in the case of the lightning network which a a wallet to store and spend BitCoins) it should probably go into the alt coin wastepaper basket.
3612  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: September 10, 2020, 07:36:15 AM
I'm fairly sure I read that the Judge has ruled the funds are owned by the clients of Cryptopia and therefore G&T have to return those funds to the clients as opposed to bleeding the funds dry as some/most people contributing to this thread seem to think.

It'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall when Cryptopia's owners are presented with the bill to pay for G&T's services.
3613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin casinos to surge in German market? on: September 10, 2020, 07:33:49 AM
Timelord2067 you are right, withdrawal fees can be high in some casinos, but in the same time there are crypto-casinos
with lower withdrawing fee. What I think once people start with crypto-gambling they will not return to PP or Credit Cards,
they will see how process can be easier with crypto-currencies. And here we talk about Bitcoin and Ethereum, for many
other crypto-currencies fees are still very low and you can gamble with many of them on many places.

I think the Bitcoin Lightning Network is the way forward for online Casinos - as LoyceV has said elsewhere, you can place a wager direct from your wallet and be paid out directly back into your wallet via the Lightning Network.  (insert slight caviet here that LoyceV hadn't mentioned - you need to have inbound capacity or else your a non-proprietary wallet such as Blue that will allow seemingly unlimited inbound capacity).

Increasingly people will turn away from PP and Credit Cards when they compare the transaction fees (as long as they aren't excessive)
3614  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Want to BUY BTC in EU on: September 09, 2020, 04:49:32 PM
OP trade carefully when meeting strangers (perhaps bring a friend if the amount is going to be high) don't be afraid to check the notes for counterfeits.

Buyers:  Ensure you have a confirmation of the coins being sent (otherwise you may end up being shown a TX for a BTC clone)
3615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots 103: More In-Depth about Return To Player (RTP) (With Poll) on: September 09, 2020, 04:45:46 PM
While a return to player might be 97% as favored in the poll, most players won't just sit for 100 rolls and walk away with their winnings, rather, they will keep playing for multiple hours and their initial wins will be tempered with replaying with those wins and eventually and wins will be smoothed out by overall losses.  Players need to evaluate how long they play for and how much their losses are going to be.
3616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots are better than Dice. on: September 09, 2020, 04:41:57 PM
Slots and dice are almost same by the way of playing. In most casinos both games have got the same house edge. By the time people are much used to dice rather than slots for the ease of playing and the hope of winning big out of it. In any gambling website the amount wagered on Dice will have the major proposition against every other games listed. This shows people preferring dice than slots.

I would disagree with that given the end result of dice rolls is just two numbers out of six where as the slots games will have bonus' as well as other in game features (for example free rolls)

Hi I read that you have been trading on other platforms for over a year now.  Can you give us a run down of where those sites are and is anyone prepared to vouch on your behalf as to whether or not those trades were successful?

~

I tried translating to Klingon, didn't help. No idea what you're talking about.

Do you have anything to contribute on the topic, e.g. find out who's sockpuppeting the spam accounts?

If you're inviting me to investigate, then sure I'll have a look for you.  I've just finished up this investigation https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2544574.msg55154010#msg55154010 perhaps you'd like to have a look at it first?
(this is LoyceV counting post #2118 / My post #6200 (that survive))

No proof offered.  Got it.

Fortunately I was able to archive your little "joke" for future reference.  Archive [1a], [1b]

Given how out of control the actual admin/mods are in deleting posts (especially ones about themselves) it's probably a good thing you don't have keys to the Forum otherwise we may never have had their alt's "I've been banned" posts to read.
