3601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Madeira and Prospera adopting bitcoin as legal tender on: April 08, 2022, 12:56:29 PM
Wait, that's not true.
No one there is making Bitcoin legal tender. That's not what the president said!
If this is the video of the speech from Bitcoin conference that started this news and that you are referring to, I must say that I agree with you. Madeira president didn't say anything about bitcoin becoming legal tender so I have no clue how could someone get that impression. Unless he said more things that are not in that YouTube video.
3602  Economy / Economics / Re: The first country in Europe to pay for gas to Russia in rubles on: April 08, 2022, 07:41:00 AM
Until we get a definitive confirmation, we can't really accuse. However, if it is true, I can't really be surprised by it. After all, the catholic church (or any other church) is not really altruistic as they portray themselves to be and mostly work for its own interests. Their condemnation of the war was lackluster and their overall value to the general public is completely unexistent. So buying gas for Rbles would definitely not be beneath them.
According to this article the Russian guy who started this rumour  confirmed that it's been a joke. Its more rule than exception, that some nonsense shared on social media goes viral, and even the choice of the country tell us that this has been a joke. I do agree though that. Agree with the rest of the stuff though.

The Vatican will never do that, because they are Catholics and there are only an estimated 140 000 Catholics left in Russia (0.1% of the total population.) Russian Orthodoxy make up almost 86.7% of the religion used in Russia.
Vatican will never do that because Italy takes care of that stuff from them but even if they did, number of Catholics in Russia wouldn't be any deciding factor.
3603  Economy / Reputation / Re: Taken Actions ( Ukan ) on: April 07, 2022, 05:53:10 PM
Our team mainly works with escrow - so that bounty hunters are not cheated and always get their rewards. Always worked with kindness to all participants, for which we are respected.
Good to hear that you are taking care of bounty hunters, but have you ever thought about people who might invest in this scam because of you and all those bounty hunters that joined the bounty campaign?

A few days ago we discovered a thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5391087.msg59768476#msg59768476
where there were traces of plagiarism of the UKAN project, for which I, as the manager of the bounty campaign https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5391071.0.
Whether whitepaper is plagiarized or not is completely irrelevant in this case and if I stumbled upon your thread sooner I would tag you just for advertising an obvious scam. One look at the Ukan website and it's obvious that this is nothing but a cheap attempt to profit from the ongoing situation in Ukraine and nothing else. Can you honestly believe that a completely anonymous team will use the funds raised in order to help the people of Ukraine? I see that you have been in crypto for a while so surely you are not that naive.

You also didn't answer what I caught about plagiarism last December, even I sent a PM to you, it's been ignored until now, and you can check the previous catch. [WARNING] Moon Rocket Coin Plagiarized Whitepaper

I don't know why your management doesn't check all the bounties that will be launched, but if you look closely you might also find something wrong but the truth behind all this is your level of greed.
I wanted to comment earlier that even a reputable and experienced manager may miss plagiarized whitepaper, but to completely ignore the warning is something entirely different and shows that this was not an exception but their M.O.
3604  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OWNR Wallet! Buy, exchange and store crypto. Order Visa prepaid card! on: April 07, 2022, 02:31:53 PM
@Dancing_Coin I don't know whether you or someone else from OWNR wallet team hired these thread bumpers that are faking the interest in your thread, but it ain't cool at all. These bumping services usually don't care who they promote, so the same accounts that promoted scams are also "working" working in your thread too. Take for example Iminingpro that recently left the comment here; that account is promoting several other shady projects and on top of that I tagged him for ponzi promotion.

You may say that you have nothing to do with these accounts, but they don't go around the forum and write in the same thread or promote same projects for free. If you want more proof, check accounts like i8v8i and Lunafox that are already tagged for being a part of sock puppet group of the accounts, and many more in this thread that are just waiting to be tagged for the same thing.

If you can't afford signature campaign or don't want to have one, it's not the solution to hire bunch of scam shillers like you did and it will have the opposite effect from the one you hoped for.

3605  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Refreshed Coinbase Card on: April 07, 2022, 01:52:52 PM
Too bad it's only available in US. I hope one day they make a card for everyone who uses their services. That's would be great for the users like me who really like their service but are in another country.
There already is a Coinbase card that is available outside of US for the last few years as couple of my IRL friends have and from what I heard they are satisfied with it, even though that card is not as good as the new one. I just don't know where else is available, other than EU and few other European countries.

Maybe they are doing this only in US as the testing stage and if it works fine they will apply the same model in other countries. I will be patient and wait until they allow users from any country to get their card.
Yeah that might be the case as first Coinbase card was initially available in US only and then spread to other countries.  FTX is also doing similar thing, releasing debit card for US market first so I guess that's the standard practice which kinda makes sense.
3606  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: April 07, 2022, 09:16:47 AM
I know that he was criticizing you, but at least he seems interested in testing your card.
Since I am always interested in convenient ways to spend crypto, I was about to take one for the team and test the card but then I started thinking that even if its working as advertised for what I would use it? Services I pay where I want anonymity (VPN, private trackers, IPTV etc) already offer direct BTC payment so there's no much sense using it for that, while fees (best case scenario 11.5%) are simply too high to make it a primary card for general online payments, even if they are legit. If that was physical card and fees were up to 5%, then I would definitely see some use for it.

I sure hope more similar providers will appear as competition is a good thing for us users.
3607  Other / Meta / Re: Help end this phase for Nigerians @Theymos on: April 07, 2022, 07:40:23 AM
Suggested by other reputed Nigerians on this forum, so that it will not be like we are in haste to get a local board and to avoid spam. So if it is on request that I locked it, it would also be on request when I will unlock it. All were and would be discussed on our local thread for transparency.
But isn't it better to keep that thread opened, share your sentiment about getting local board and bump it on the regular basis instead opening a new thread about exactly the same thing, like it happened now? If that thread wasn't locked, all this conversations would have happened there. Sure, someone might come occasionally and write nonsense/spam but you can always report it. Additionally, I would also share @igehhh's charts in that request thread of years on the regular basis, as another argument for your local board.

You are of course free to do do as you please, but I think that you would have better chances if you focus your efforts in one thread.

It is not understandable that there are local boards for countries with much smaller population and not for Nigeria.
It's all about how active certain community is, and not about the size of the population. I do agree though that based on their activity here and amount of members they do deserve local board (and not just them, there is at least one more community that is very active), something I said multiple times in various threads.

The main reason (at least that's my opinion on the matter) forum staff might be hesitant regarding creating new local boards is because quite a few of them became either semi-dead or completely inactive. For example, the last one created was Japanese board back in November 2017, which used to be pretty active. Fast forward to 2022, and it's a ghost town now with few posts each month. That of course doesn't mean there shouldn't be new local boards opened ever again, but might be the reason why its been more than a five years since the last local board created.
3608  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any thoughts of Stormgain cloud mining? on: April 07, 2022, 07:08:38 AM
Perhaps the best question is, is it profitable? Let's say it's legal, but the revenue is less than 1 dollar a day in exchange for allowing an unknown program to exploit your computer's physical capabilities, and your IP addresses to mine or do an unknown activity?
There's no mining involved whatsoever, that's just the story they are selling.

On top of being faucet of sorts, they also give up to 20% deposit bonus (again can only be used for trading) and give ~10% ROI (even higher than some knonwn platforms like Celsius) on staked crypto so it really makes you wonder from where they get all that free money. Then I saw their trading fee strategy in which you don't pay any fee if your trade ends up in loss, but if you end up in profit, they take 10%. That then raises the question why would any successful trader use this exchange if they take 10% of his profit? Dunno, but all this doesn't make much sense to me.
3609  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FAKE Coin Market CAP ICO coinmarketcoin.io on: April 07, 2022, 06:37:42 AM
I'm happy to be proven wrong but this looks like a fake sale to me...
You are not wrong buddy, this is a pure scam.

When you think that no one will fall for such an obvious scam attempt, you check the addresses and see that people are sending ETH and BNB. At least address is tagged at Etherscan so this may protect couple of people and for some reason BSCscan is not showing any warning (not sure if it even has that feature).

I guess the domain will be hosted somewhere difficult to take down and it is not as easy as reporting it to the police in your country and they can take down the site.
It's probably the waste of time to go to the police for this. Nothing much to do other than reporting it to Google but knowing how slow they are, it will take some time for them to do anything about it.
3610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: April 06, 2022, 06:45:05 PM
But if bitcoin ATMs don't use KYC there will be a lot of money laundering done.
Bs. I am glad that in the country I am currently living they don't think so I can freely buy and sell BTC via ATM, without need to provide any sort of info, including mobile phone number.

Currently, several Bitcoin ATMs in the UK have been shut down because they do not have permits and are indicated to be places for criminal transactions.
Not several, but all UK BTC ATMs have been shut. And no, not because they are "places for criminal activities" as you put it, but because companies operating them are not licensed with FCA to offer ATM services.

Thus, Bitcoin ATMs currently still need some development that needs to be integrated with user needs as well as regulation and security of Bitcoin ATM users.
You are mistaken if you think that KYC is there to protect you.
3611  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: April 06, 2022, 06:28:18 PM
That not hiding, we just don't disclose our personal information.
Potato potahto. Thing is, when you claim certain things like being Mastercard partner that is licensed to issue debit cards, people will ask for more company info.

Thank you, but I must say there are no red flags.
Talking about red flags, how come is your Twitter account from 2011 when you just started the service few weeks ago? I know that you can change the name of the account (and that's what you probably did) but how come not just creating a clear account for your business? I saw before dodgy businesses using older Twitter accounts to appear more legit so that's why am curious about it. Maybe its nitpicking, but that's how I see old Twitter accounts being used for the fresh business.

We have this announcement up for over 2 weeks now, there is not 1 complaint about our service. We are proud of it
If you want to get some traction here, (so far not a single comment from forum users about using your card) you should consider giving certain amount of cards for free so users (preferably those with some reputation here) can test it and give their honest opinion. Iirc, what you offered to one of the users wasn't the free card, but moneyback guarantee or something along those lines.
3612  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The reason people join bitcointalk forum on: April 06, 2022, 05:18:45 PM
I can't for the life of me understand how a lot of people still join Bitcointalk solely for "bounty hunting" a.k.a. spamming on social media despite the fact that it's pretty much a total waste of time now. I'd understand if it was in 2017 where every obvious crap token pumped, but today? Nah.
You have to look at it from the point of view of someone who has no skills, has no clue really about crypto,(other than moving tokens around) most likely comes from the country with low income and it's here solely for the purpose of making money. After all, bounty hunting is very low effort kind of "work" so why not, if you don't have any skills and you have some free time on your hands. And who knows, maybe they hit the mother lode, as they probably heard stories of some bounty hunters getting rich.

The thing that surprises me is how those managers talk all those altcoin projects into having bounty campaign. I would really like to be on a call when they persuade them that it is a must have and that thousands of illiterate lemmings will make the project look attractive to potential investors.
3613  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP ] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: April 06, 2022, 10:21:18 AM
@Best_Change  I just checked the spreadsheet and I saw that you counted the last week's posts so I will change the signature now. It's been a pleasure being part of one of the best campaigns on the forum for almost two years and I am sure that you will continue with the same success for years to come.

Onwards and upwards!

Ako imam seed phrase od Ledger Nano S, mogu li pomoću tog seed phrasea napraviti import walleta u neki drugi hardware wallet?
3615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: April 05, 2022, 05:18:19 PM
Ahh...ok even 1% may be a lot depending...
Believe me, 1% is nothing when buying and selling BTC. Its tough at the beginning to get used to high fees, but there's not many options if you want to stay anonymous. Even when you want to buy/sell from someone directly, people tend to ask for 1-2% fee. For me personally, everything up to 4-5% is ok. Realistically, even that is high but it is what it is.

You didn't mention, does the ATM actually give you dollar or euro bills? That would be interesting...and maybe the "future" of banking... Actually my mind is kind of blown right now  Shocked
It gives you the money depending on the official currency of the country where ATM is (like any other ATM machine), so in your case you will get dollars. I am from Croatia and I am getting our own currency ( Croatian kuna ) and next year we are getting euro so BTC ATMs will adjust accordingly.

3616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: April 05, 2022, 03:20:09 PM
However I also read that one user mentioned that they only take a 1% or low fee. For this reason, it might be worth it.
I have serious doubts about that number. The lowest ever BTC ATM fee I saw was 4% (same ATM now has 6.5% fee), and I am using them since 2017. One of the reasons why BTC ATM fees are not small is due increased expenditures: the owner has to pay the renting of the space, machine itself (and machine ain't cheap at all, afaik 2 way machine costs more than $10k) and on top of that, owner has to pay the taxes on the profit he makes. So yeah, I don't see how 1% fee is possible.

I know I am speaking out of ignorance, but I thought the way it works is, you pay them for the bitcoin, and they give you a paper wallet
Not really. Let me quote my previous answer

The way it works is simple: you choose on ATM the amount of BTC you wanna buy ( for example $100 worth of BTC), then the machine scans qr code of your wallet so it has the address where BTC will go, and in the end you insert the bills in the machine and that's about it. BTC will be sent to your address and you will get a receipt.

One thing I did not consider is that you would be able to sell BTC for cash at these ATMs. That is fairly interesting, since any other way usually requires jumping through a lot of hoops. That makes me wonder how easy it would be. If it is as easy as it seems, and without providing personal information, then it would seem like a great idea, as long as they don't take too much as fees.
Procedure of selling BTC is simple as well: You choose the amount of BTC (in dollars, euros etc) you wanna sell ( usually its some round number like $100, $200, $500 etc) and when you chose the amount, QR code of the address where you have to send BTC appears on the screen of ATM. You take your mobile wallet, scan the code and send BTC. When you did that, ATM prints out a piece of paper on with QR code which you will scan on BTC ATM once transaction gets few confirmations (ATM I am usually using asks for 2 confirmations). If I am in a hurry I use higher fee to get it done asap, but usually I just go in a bar and have a beer while waiting for confirmation.

3617  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: April 05, 2022, 10:05:56 AM

3618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: April 05, 2022, 06:45:46 AM
I was wondering if it's a good option to buy a gift for someone else, or are the fees too high and it's not worth it?
It all depends what your other options are. One of the biggest advantage of BTC ATM is that they often don't ask for any sort of documents, but then again that depends on the country you are living (in my country I can do it completely anonymously). Regarding fees, they are generally high so if anonymity is not your priority or if you can't buy via BTC AM anonymously, there are much better ways to buy and sell Bitcoin.

Also I'm not sure how it works but figuring they give you a private key, and how safe is that?
No, you don't have to give your private key and anyone asking you for that is scammer.

About my personal experience, I've been using BTC ATM exclusively for several years, but when fees became too high for me (iirc 2 years ago) I decided to find other ways. I still use it occasionally, but only as a sort of  last resort.
3619  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: April 04, 2022, 03:11:42 PM

Lista aktivnih clanova naseg boarda u periodu 1.02-28.02

According to the reference Happy jrNy has posted on 17th march and you have posted on 30th march. So, it is easy to say that you are telling a lie. Both account used same facebook as both of the accounts owner is same.
@Teletalk.org didn't quote the proper reports, farukahmed made bounty report several hours before Happy jrNy, which he then just copied. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if he has some other alts on this forum, but I don't think that @Happy jrNy is one of them.

No, that's not the proper way to connect the accounts. What if someone else uses your social media account, does that automatically mean you have an alt?
