In the Southeast Asian Games Philippines Women and Myanmar Women played. Philippines Women team scored 47 runs and Myanmar Women team won it scoring 48 runs in  the 8th over.

Myanmar women have already won one medal (bronze at cricket 6s). I could see a lot of improvement in their performance. And the best thing is that they don't have any foreigners in their playing XI, and the entire squad is being made up of natives.

Long time back, in 2006 Myanmar (men's team) was humiliated when they were bowled out for just 10 runs during the ACC Trophy. Nepal chased down the target in just 0.2 overs (aided by 5 wides bowled by the Myanmar opening bowler). Back then a lot of people ridiculed and made fun of Myanmar. The same Myanmar has won a medal in cricket now, and that too without any real support from the ICC or the ACC.

You have got a fair point about the over population and other problems tourists may suffer if they visit China in large enough numbers. Also, I don't know whether you are aware of it or not. but there seems to be some health concerns with Chinese street food, about the way they recycle the oil and things similar to that.

You can search "gutter oil" on the internet if you feel like.
Perhaps instead Chine people would prefer Japan, Taiwan or Vietnam?
It would be refreshing to see some World Cup in an oriental setting this decade.

It will be wrong to use one-off incidents to tarnish the entire country. I have seen the video of "gutter oil scandal", but I don't know how authentic it is. Anyway, China is a huge country with a population of 1.4 billion, and isolated incidents can't be used to generalize the nation. Personally I would love to see FIFA world cup being hosted by China. If Japan and South Korea can host the tournament, then why not China? And I don't think that tourists will face any issues related to food, as a lot of US-based fast-food outlets are available at every nook and corner of China.

I still think that France will have a bit of hard time getting the win here. I mean they are the highest likely one but since they do not have any proper competition aside from maybe England, they are going to feel more relaxed. When a team is seen as the highest favorites, then it is going to end up with something that is more relax which will cause them to underestimate the teams that they will face, that is going to end up with a lot worse situation in the end.

I believe that we are going to reach to a point where France suddenly end with a loss unexpectedly with the situations. This is why I believe that we are going to see them maybe lose and that should be a terrible result in the end. I hope that they will play as well as they can, but I can't be sure about it.

Without any doubt France is the strongest team within UEFA at this point. But it will be wrong to say that they will not face any competition from the other teams. And it is not just England. I personally believe that Spain and Italy can bring a few surprises this time. And in each edition of the Euro, there is always some smaller team like Iceland who make big upsets by defeating some of the more fancied teams. And also, a lot of the French players are injury prone. Let's see whether they will be able to field a full-strength side in 2024.

Almost everyone managed to score in the first match except Litton Das. Litton Das has not been able to show any performance in international cricket for a long time. If we look at the last England and Bangladesh ODI series there was no dominance by Litton Das but his poor performance in every match affected the team greatly. From that situation, no change is still being noticed. Although he is a good player for Bangladesh team but his consistent poor performance poses a big danger for the team.

LOL dude. Are you sure about this? For the year 2022, Litton scored 577 ODI runs, at an average of 52.45. This is the best by any Bangladeshi batsmen in this format. He scored one century and two half-centuries, all coming against quality opposition. Anyway, let's first see whether today's match will get completed or not. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted at Chelmsford and I am not sure whether the match can be completed. Ireland has failed to secure a direct world cup slot. So the outcome of the next two matches doesn't matter much.
3625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: May 12, 2023, 01:31:04 AM
Cricket is a team game not a single player can change the result entire team effort will worth. But in case of Kolkata it's totally missing because Thier opener consecutively not perform through which they got a good start. Later all Thier efforts from middle order not help them to build huge target. Currently in this match they just scored 149 which has been scored by Rajasthan opener in just 13th overs with a supervb knock of 98* by young Y.Jaiswal where he scored fastest half century of IPL history by just 13 balls and make victory possible for his team..

Yesterday it was a forgettable performance from the Kolkata Knight Riders. RR won with almost 7 overs to spare. KKR needs a complete revamp of their bowling attack. As I can see, the decision to include all these inexperienced youngsters hasn't worked. As a first step, they can include David Wiese to boost the run rate in depth overs, and he is also handy with his medium pace. Vaibhav Arora can be included instead of Anukul Roy. I am not sure why Varun Chakravarthy missed yesterday's match. I guess it was due to injury.
3626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 12, 2023, 01:21:25 AM
Jaiswal scored the fastest fifty in this year's IPL. Anand Jaiswal, who scored 50 off 13 balls, performed better towards the last. And unfortunately couldn't score a century due to two runs. 98 runs off 47 balls brought the win for the team, two batsmen gave an amazing performance in this amazing match.
Some mistakes by Rajasthan Royals made them lose by a huge margin. Rajasthan Royals collected almost all the runs in the power play and if the good bowling was used by the Kolkata Knight Riders team captain then the game would have been a little tougher.

LOL.. who is Anand Jaiswal? It was Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored the half-century yesterday. And he missed the century by just 2 runs (was unbeaten on 98). Yesterday, the fireworks started from the first over itself. I don't know what prompted Nitish Rana to open the bowling, but that move proved costly for the Kolkata Knight Riders as he conceded 26 runs from just 6 balls. Among the KKR bowlers, only Sunil Narine and Suyash Sharma had decent economy rates, while Nitish Rana and Anukul Roy went for more than 20 runs per over.

Most of the time Rohit Sharma used to perform well at the important match. In this season of IPL he hadn't made any such performance in the last 11 matches. As said, remaining three were must win matches for Mumbai Indians. Till now rest of the players from Mumbai Indians team particularly the middle order that isn't performing at the beginning have retained the form. I believe he'll make some rememberable performance in the upcoming matches that confirm its position into the playoff. Let's see what's going to happen in the upcoming days.

As long as he is not wasting any deliveries, it is OK. And actually Rohit has done a decent job with the bat so far. He has scored a total of 191 runs at an average of 17.36, but strike rate is close to 125. SKY has scored 376 runs so far, while Ishan Kishan is at second place with 335 runs. Tilak Varma and Cameroon Green are at third and fourth position respectively. As you can see, lack of form from Rohit hasn't impacted the batting strength of Mumbai. But their real worry is bowling, with two of the strike bowlers being unavailable - Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer.
3628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: May 11, 2023, 12:26:06 PM
Bangladesh's top-order players did not perform well in the first match. Liton Das was in very good form. But he could not collect any runs. Captain Tamim Iqbal also failed to play a big innings. Bangladesh team is not used to playing on a pace-friendly pitch. This is why they face a lot of problems in batting. If the batsmen of the top order played with some responsibility, it was not a difficult task for Bangladesh to collect a big score.

However, Shanto and Mushfiqur batted well at the moment the team needed it. If these two batsmen did not play well, Bangladesh would not have been able to collect even 200 runs.
I definitely have high expectations from Bangladesh in the second ODI tomorrow. They should learn from the mistakes of the first match and correct their mistakes.

There is >80% chance of rain tomorrow at Chelmsford. Anyway, Ireland has already failed to qualify directly for the ODI World Cup, after the first match was washed out. Now even if they win both the remaining matches, they can only finish at no.9 in the points table for the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. They need to prepare well for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. 2 out of the 10 participants will earn a ticket to India, to take part in the ODI world cup. And for Ireland, it is not an impossible task to finish among top-2.
3629  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: May 11, 2023, 12:16:18 PM
Rain interruption resulted in the ODI series getting washed away between Bangladesh women and Sri Lankan women (only one match was completed, and that was won by SLW). T20I series is currently tied at 1-1, as Sri Lanka scored a big win today. These two teams are not among the top sides in women's cricket. So a series win for either side would act as a big morale booster. I just hope that tomorrow's match will get completed without any washouts. That said, these teams need to play more often. They hardly take part in 2-3 series every year.
3630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 11, 2023, 12:06:47 PM
Of course, Rohit Sharma's contribution cannot be ignored. But since there is no room for emotion in cricket, if he is benched for bad performances, that has  to be accepted. But there are more such images in others team as well. Like Kohli in Royal Challengers Bangalore, David Warner in Delhi Capitals, Dhawan in Punjab Kings, many more can be found if you research in this way. Although those teams are at the bottom of the points table. I think if one or two players of the team perform poorly, it will not affect the team if the rest can perform. Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly a good player and his skillful captaincy will help the team to a good place. I think he should definitely be kept in the match.

As long as Mumbai is winning matches, there will be no demand for Rohit Sharma to be dropped. Now they have 12 points from 11 matches and there is a good chance that they will qualify for the playoffs. However they need to win the remaining three matches, as Gujarat and Chennai have almost guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. All that said, Rohit didn't had to work too hard on his captaincy. Without any argument, Mumbai have the strongest batting lineup for any of the franchises and their weakness is only with bowling.
3631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: May 11, 2023, 11:56:50 AM
Russel managed to play a good inning in the last match and he was probably the reason why they reached so close and then Rinku finished the game with a four in the last ball, but Narine has been constantly performing badly throughout the tournament and I don't understand why they are still having him in the playing 11.

Rinku has been consistent this tournament and he made the team win about 2 to 3 matches already, but they shouldn't just rely on him as he can also get out early some day, and others will lead to rise to the occasion and save the day.

Agreed on Sunil Narine. Once upon a time, he was one of the heavyweights of the IPL. Even now, his contract is worth $731,000 per year. But he is neither contributing with the bat, nor with the ball. A better option for the Kolkata Knight Riders would be to replace him with David Wiese or Shakib al Hasan. Both of these players have got minimal opportunities so far in this season. BTW, it will be interesting to see the RR playing XI for this match. Last time, they received a lot of criticism for dropping Trent Boult (was replaced with Obed McCoy).

@JSRAW both Pujara and Rahane have gotten multiple chances now and they failed in those chances thus they now need to make way for other player’s hence I was really surprised to see that these two were back. Also Virat will be dropped soon I guess because he’s been in poor form and I really don’t think his selection is now a guarantee, as I trust Dravid to take the hard calls and make a team for the long run.

This is what I have to say about Pujara and Rahane as well. They have been given infinite number of chances by the BCCI and still they are failing every now and then. Time has come to replace these two with some of the promising youngsters. Anyway, these two are near the end of their careers. I don't understand why the BCCI is still sticking with them. WTC final is an one-off test and therefore may not be the ideal occasion to test some of the younger players, but then this should be the final chance for both Pujara and Rahane. Enough is enough.

People think about it for one direction and not think about it for the other direction. What happens when Americans or Canadians or Mexicans wanted to watch the games? Not like these three nations combined make a little amount, we are talking about hundreds of millions of people, and when it was at Qatar, you think they all watched at prime time? Of course not, they watched it at horrible times, either very early in the morning or even at night after midnight as well.

This means that when you make it on the east, it is good for east but bad for west, when you make it further west, then it is bad for east. You have to just realize that one way or another, you are going to make some parts of the world not watch it at ideal time zone, that's just the reality. But they may make it at proper hours to get it at least to a decent time.

How many people live in the western hemisphere by the way? Out of a total global population of almost 8 billion, only around 1 billion people (13%) live in the western hemisphere. So do you believe that it is ideal to give priority for this 13% over the remaining 87%? BTW, I am not forgetting the fact that some of the top teams hail from the western hemisphere (especially Argentina and Brazil). I just hope that the FIFA will schedule the matches in such a way, that people residing in Asia and Europe will be able to watch them without going through the pain of going without sleep.

The West Indies Cricket Board has agreed to a 3 match ODI series against United Arab Emirates. This is what money power can do. West Indies will never schedule a match against teams consisted of native players, such as Scotland, Nepal or Namibia. But then, UAE and USA are the blue eyed boys of BCCI as well as the ICC. The matches will be held in Sharjah sometime next month, and will act as preparation for the ODI World Cup Qualifier. All of the matches will be played in D/N format and will be completed before the start of the qualifier tournament (18th June).

A friendly universe or not, this is a philosophical question ....

It can only be said for sure that every person has freedom of choice (even if he chooses submission to fate and fatalism for himself).  The worst thing is when the cult of death is cultivated at the level of state ideology.  As a result, a disastrous mental funnel arises and begins to suck in the souls of other people ....

Yesterday I was in the Republic of Belarus, including a concert dedicated to the Victory Day in World War II (May 9).

The general feeling is that the songs that I heard at the concert were about the war, but they sounded the idea that the war is a terrible disaster and should not be allowed.  And this is what gives hope.  The power of evil (that is, the cult of death) is not unlimited.

Belarus is a model country for both Russia and Ukraine. Love him, or hate him. But you need to admit that Lukashenko did a lot of good things for the people of Belarus. In the two decades that followed the dissolution of the USSR, Russia lost almost 20% of its population, and Ukraine lost close to 30%. But Belarussian population remained stable (despite some emigration). Even now, mortality rate among working age population in Belarus remains much lower than that in Russia or Ukraine. Lukashenko achieved something that neither Yeltsin, nor Putin could achieve.

You keep being biased against Argentina  Wink "Destroyed" by Argentina is that what they call a miserable lottery win now?  Grin
Regarding Croatia, I think the bookies rate them so low because this team is on a downtrend (due to age), while the Netherlands, on the contrary, have a young team and theoretically they should be getting stronger. I can’t say anything about Denmark, but the fact that they haven’t won anything for a long time is not an argument for European teams - there is too much competition and even top teams can be without titles for decades.

All I am saying is that Netherlands in an over-rated team, while everyone underestimates the potential of Croatia. Netherlands have a long history in participating in FIFA and UEFA tournaments. That is taken in to account, when people estimate their chances. On the other hand, there was no Croatia before 1991 (when Yugoslavia was dissolved). They are a relatively new team, and a lot of people have difficulty in admitting that a country of 4 million people can compete at the same level as France or England, who have a population of more than 60 million. And now coming to the case of younger players, I can't see a lot of promising youngsters coming up through the ranks in Dutch football.

What's an Amazing Match Between Thai W Vs PHI W

New records are constantly being created in the history of cricket, as well as a record was created between two teams THAI WMN Vs PHI WMN. PHI WMN went to bat first and ended the innings for only 9 runs, 4 batters of the team collected 2,2,2,2 runs. And the remaining 6 batters did not score any runs. A single run is extra. On the other hand, THAI WMN came out to bat and completed the target of 10 runs in just 4 balls.

Well.... this match happened two weeks ago. And it doesn't surprise me. Thailand is one of the oldest cricket playing countries in Southeast Asia, and they became an affiliate member of the ICC back in 1995. Philippines on the other hand started participating in international cricket very recently. Anyway, to their credit both these teams had 100% native squads. That matters. If they had included a few foreigners in their squad, then they would have performed better. But the focus was on long term growth, and therefore the squad was comprised of only native players.

BTW, Philippines women have qualified for the gold medal match in T10 format. Either gold or silver medal is guaranteed.

Has anyone checked the crude oil prices? Despite the massive production cuts from OPEC, Brent crude is still trading at $76 per barrel. What has happened here? The supply has gone down by a massive amount. But the demand has also gone down. Anyone know the reason for this? Anyway, oil consuming (importing) nations would be happy. $76 per barrel is still a bit on the higher side for us. We would prefer somewhere in the vicinity of $40 to $60 per barrel (which was the case in 2020). Anyway, OPEC has run out of options. Now it is clear that they can't manipulate the prices anymore by shutting down production.

Highly doubt that, if Kishan is playing then he'll replace KS Bharat mot someone else. I don't see any changes in the Top 4.

Gill-Rohit will open, Pujara will continue on his 1 down position (He playing county atm and piling up runs), Kohli and there are high chances of Rahane batting at 5.

I don't know whether the two test specialists (Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara deserve anymore chances). During the last 4 years, Pujara's batting average has remained below 35. There are far more deserving batsmen who can bat at no.3. Well.. I know that he is currently participating in county cricket, and scoring tons of runs for Sussex. But scoring in domestic matches doesn't always translate to runs at international level. Rahane is even worse. He has scored a grand total of 547 runs during the last two years, at an average of 20.26. Why is this guy still present in the test squad?
3640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: May 11, 2023, 02:15:32 AM
David Warner have been captaining the Delhi Capitals quite well in this season. But still, his decision to allow Axar Patel to bat at no.7 needs to be reviewed. At this point, Axar is the second highest scorer for DC in this season and his talent is getting wasted since he is batting down the order. Yesterday both Rilee Rossouw and Manish Pandey wasted too many balls while dealing with the CSK bowlers. And in the end, the required run rate climbed to unsustainable levels, and the DC lower order batsmen could not keep up with it.
