Does anyone who doesn't have any skin in the game still believe BFL is for real?
I have no money in this and I believe BFL is sincerely trying to build what they are saying they're trying to build. I also believe they have not the slightest idea what they are doing.

... Entries will be accepted up to the end of 2012 forum time.
The winner will be announced the week of January 15th. ...
There are a lot of entries here to go through but I'll have the winner announced as described ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) We were actually joking about the guys still posting bets after the new year, not about the lack of a winner announcement.

And where would this supposed money go?
I have the same question. To Satoshi? I really think we have to come up with a better incentive than money. I hope it's to Satoshi. I can't wait to reveal myself as him as soon as the funding has reached fuck-off money levels.

Did a mining rig explode in his basement?

Ouch.
Why you always make Low quality posts? When are you going to make a loan request, scammer? He already did. Didn't turn out well.

I still want him to videotape a discussion with his lawyer for our enjoyment.

I'm saying that I'm surprised and kind of disappointed that not much efforts seems to be put into it, when compared to other stuff. Why would anyone put effort into this, when you can just take a bunch of starving people and work them in mines until they're kaput, then discard of them? Because natural diamonds are small. I want to see a sky-crapper made of large single crystal diamond parts. Just use this natural diamond. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/8722757/Astronomers-discover-diamond-like-planet-in-the-sky.html

Yes, then that should work. Out of curiosity, what materials will you build your 4"x4" rod out of that will support having 600,000,000kg on top of it?
Diamonds. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Someone please point it out for me, Those look like the same photos from awhile ago, I would assume that someone would've gone "LOOK!, ITS BROKEN!" That is exactly what people did. Phinn has pinpointed it correctly.

Ouch, good luck with it. Bitcoin central's down too, looks like someone's being a pain in the ass.
That's just scheduled maintenance ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) The 80's called. They want their sysadmin back. Who still does "scheduled maintenance" in 2013 ? Every major scientific database provider.

As per Josh on the BFL Forums: My question now is: Since competition doesn't matter anymore, why not fill us in on EVERYTHING going on? Exact specs / dimensions, chip testing results, etc... How could they? They don't have any data themselves yet, see for example this awesome fluff on wattage Originally, we were at about .8w per GH (Yes, we built 20% into our announcements) and we are estimating that it's possible that a worst case scenario would lead to a bit under 1.2w per GH. If that ends up being the case, then yes we will have missed our power targets and yes we will gladly pay out the bounty. However, at less than 72 watts for 60 GH/s, it's still more than 5x better than any other product. However, we still believe that our .8w / GH target is what we will ship, but we like to prepare for the worst case scenario. Well it does feature the new heatsink, so who knows. It's not an ASIC in there, that much is sure.

Then why does everyone care about an empty box? As i said, they can say "look, here's a box where we house 12 of them to make it more convenient in larger scales" while showing off their mock up single. I presume their target audience at CES isn't the Bitcoin community so this would probably be adequate. Actually screwing in and gluing multiple layers of singles just to have a shiny copper cube seems like a waste of time (IMHO).
It's called marketing. You don't exhibit an empty box unless you're a manufacturer of empty boxes. Hell, they could have put in 12 packets of Walker crisps and a sticky note reading "With special greetings to our detractors". At least it would have been funny.

This whole thing is a waste of time...why can't someone just make a generic ASIC that can do anything/everything?
Those exist. We call them CPUs. Has anyone tried to mine with them? Yes, apparently it didn't work out too well in the face of Greed.
|
|
|
My question is wither or not the single/jally boxes at CES are equally empty.
Nope. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FsrRPZ.jpg&t=663&c=86sW3Y46Ogstcw) Which makes the Big Box of Emptyness TM all the more absurd
