I would suggest reading through the thread before commenting. It wasn't about my inability to access my funds as clearly stated in my second post. It was about the sudden change in policy that happened without proper notification. As it states in their ToU's, they are able to change their terms at any time without the need for users to re-accept them. It also states that they must notify users of any change in the terms. They told this to me. Apologized. Then they changed how their notifications were going out to users. They even reworded it, thanks to this thread. I'm a ToU junky. I read those for fun.
Good for you. I've actually also fallen into trouble due to inaccuracies in the ToS major services (namely Coinbase) but they were professional enough to privately notify my of the newer updates I should be aware of and let me go with a warning in spite of having breaken the newer version of their ToS. Admittedly your title is a bit clickbaity but if you say that Xapo changed their ToU because of it then I guess that it served a special purpose.

I confirm that I got a vouch copy from OP. For starters it seems long but well formatted and without any fillers. I'll read it soon when I have time and post a review when done.

You call that holding bitcoins hostage? You were given a couple of perfectly viable options to recover your funds fully, I don't really understand what the issue it. Xapo is a private company and their ToS clearly states that they reserve the right to do this.

I'd take a vouch copy to post a honest and impartial review in exchange. Let me know if you're interested OP.

Bitcoin.com has it's own forum, why not post there since the issue you're facing is related to their website?

Which ones work and can it be used for cold storage?
What do you mean by that? Cold storage as in letting money stay in the card's balance? If that's what you're after then you should look for cards that let you load them by depositing (contrary to live conversion).

Xapo is a registered trademark as per xapo.com's Terms of ServiceXapo and the Xapo logo are our or our licensor’s trademarks, registered trademarks or service marks. Any other trademarks mentioned in our website or mobile apps are the property of their respective owners. I don't think this domain is worth building a business onto when Xapo could just issue DMCA notices to take it down.

Honestly, green address is the only web wallet with (IMO) that can be considered close to being full featured and close to being free free (as in freedom) at the same time. Consider using it if you're after a good webwallet. Coinbase and Circle are widely used for allowing users to liquidate of buy BTC funds through their platform but they're lacking when it comes to wallet features, and especially Coinbase (perhaps Circle and Xapo too) enforces blacklists for words and addresses so it can't be considered free.
blockchain.info tried to come close to a full featured wallet but it's security was lacking, IMO the fact that it was removed from bitcoin.org is a good thing because it's not a good introduction to bitcoin for newbies.

OP doesn't seem to be very active but since last edited the thread a few months ago, perhaps it's worth pointing out that he should replace the blockexplorer.com links as the site doesn't seem to have been maintained.

Opposition to evolution. Oh man, this guy's biography is funny. I wonder if anyone is going to want to work with such a person to help bring his brainchild to life. He seems to be a creationist, and involved in various controversies involving Christianity throughout his career.

If you're selling giftcards just make sure to post your threads in the right subforum, which in your case is digital goods. Using escrow is also recommended but you'll have to find someone that'd want to deal with gift cards.

I'd be interested in receiving a vouch copy in exchange of a honest review, provided that this is indeed legal as OP claims.

This is going to sound like a weird question, but:
Which bitcoin debit cards (if any) have just the magstripe and not the chip?
That's a very specific question. If you need such a card I'd suggest you contact the providers to get the right answer. It's not easy for users to figure out technical details. Any user who has the card in hand can simply look at it and answer this... Sure thing, but you'd receive answers more reliably by trying to get information from the source. It has to be because of sanctions, sucks for the people like you. I hope that not being able to use bitcoin debit cards hasn't been a huge issue for you. Are there any alternative ways to cash out your bitcoins or use them to shop online?
I never had any issues honestly , I don't really shop online , If I do It's only for buying from Steam (they started Bitcoin as a payment method since a few months now) I also know some people who I sell them Bitcoin for my local currency so cashing out isn't hard. Another alternative would be to trade them for PayPal,Skrill or Neteller and shop online. Good to know that you're getting by. Funnily enough, here in Greece local buying and selling isn't something you can find easily. But then again, the fact that we have access to more advanced services like bitcoin debit cards might be a contributing factor to that. I think i would like to have a debit card but the problem if it is compatible to my country do you have any thread here with complete list of country compatible.. also the fee for every withdraw or deposit in any different atm machines.. My place is philippines.. and i hope there is some debit card that can widely use..
If you want a physical card and it ships to your country, it'll likely work with most if not all POS terminals and ATMs, doesn't hurt to try. Fees vary per card but the most common one is when you convert from BTC to FIAT.

Several cards have enabled loading with altcoins other than bitcoin. Is there anybody that is making use of such a feature or would be interested to? I could compile a list of such cards and their currencies.

Do we know who this Bill Dembski is? It matters to know who this is all coming from because first of all, they let it be known that this is whitepaper is published on the website of a friend and secondly, where are the references? We don't know if the author has an understanding of either economics, programming or even cryptography and I don't see any notable references to external sources. I don't know if any idea at this level should be considered a competitor to bitcoin, which has went far beyond than just being a concept at this point.

If something sounds too good to be true it likely is. Even with escrow paypal transaction can't be secured while bitcoin transactions are irreversible. OP might be trying to launder stolen money or even outright scam people.

When it comes to the price of electricity, it's just going to complicate the equation. Not that it's going to be big enough change in order for it to have an impact on the price. First of all cars are unrelated to bitcoin, but they're going to increase the demand for electricity while solar roofs would give them more self-sufficiency. But again nothing of all that is enough to make a difference for bitcoin.

Honestly, the way slock.it handled such large sums of money made history. It proved once and forever why DAOs will never be an alternative to actual organizations or contracts and inspite of all the security thresholds outside of the DAO infrastructure, their DAO managed to spill the Ethereum worth hundreds of millions in the hands of malicious hackers. I liked how slock.it chose to address the result of this disaster, all smiles from the basement of someone's mum. Who would trust those people again, with anything?
