3661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino can play a role in changing fortune? on: August 17, 2022, 12:37:37 PM

Even experienced gamblers fall victim to this greed factor. Controlling emotions and greed is far from having experience it is a game of discipline and contentment. Winning multiple times or large sum of money comes with so much luring feelings and thoughts and can even boast confidence to a point the gambler feels they can comfortably beat the house until they have lost everything.

Winning many times is the same as getting all the luck at the beginning. this was a trap that would take everything he had. Gamblers who already feel they are always lucky and win will go bankrupt in the end, because they have given up control of their gambling management. and now gambling is easier to do, you just need to lie down and hold your smartphone and choose what gambling game to play.

The accessibility that we now have to casinos and other such platforms that people have nowadays is helpful and also scary at times. It is way easier to lose your money on casinos nowadays and easier to get addicted. Control and moderation is the key, and it is hard to do especially if you don't have any other things to do most of the time.

back again to the topic of discussion in this thread, namely the casino will play a role in changing luck because they have a system that they can manipulate, so that what really benefits is the casino owner, we as gambling players will only accept defeat in the end.

I don't think casinos are deliberately manipulating things on their platform, or they're doing it whenever they feel like it. The house edge is implemented so as to give an advantage to the casino over the players in the long run. Not that they can't change that whenever they feel like, but if they did then they will be subject to scrutiny and may even lose players because of it. Some of the games they have are designed to give out jackpot at a certain amount of games played (slot machines) and in a way, it is manipulation but again, they do not control these things whenever they want to.
3662  Economy / Economics / Re: High prices not a problem if you got MONEY on: August 17, 2022, 05:14:28 AM
I wish that it could just be that easy. Imagine being a developer with some fortune on the side and your business is creating stablecoins for other people so that they can use it to buy goods. How lovely would that world be Grin But also, it would mean that the financial system is broken and that money is valueless, but for some reason a lot of people is still inclined to accept it even though it's really worth shit. Everything else failed, hence why the creation of money by other entities is permitted and that it is somehow working.

No matter how much we turn the world upside down, the continuous printing of money to solve rising prices of goods will always end up in a disaster.
3663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How profitable Is investing in a crypto casino or sportbook? on: August 17, 2022, 03:30:16 AM
I remember this article wherein the author advised investors to not put their money in the casino. Usually, the profits only trickle until one big whale splurges on the whole bankroll of the casino. It will take months for you to get a return on your initial investment but only one good day for a whale to lose it all. It's kinda like gambling too since you're betting that your money will be fine for a few months until you can safely pull out. As for sportsbooks, I've no idea how profitable those can be. But IMO they are quite safer to place your investments on since on each events, the bookies already have a fix cut on the proceeds of the whole lot.
3664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Houston Texans become 1st NFL team to accept crypto for ticket sales on: August 16, 2022, 10:59:39 PM
anyway, am I missing something? how can they say that millennials and Gen Z are a "difficult-to-reach audience" when the majority of crypto users are either Gen Z or Millenial?
You are missing the point. They are talking about younger generations losing interest in NFL that's why they became harder to reach. A quick search on the net and that seems to be true because the average age of game viewers is in the upper 40. Another source says that the number continues to decline every year.
https://twitter.com/paulsen_smw/status/1359295788770332672

They probably think the addition of crypto could bring youngsters back to the sports league since we know it's this group that invest in it the most.

Sadly, even with crypto added on NFL, the youngsters will still pursue other things and would probably stick to what's popular instead. American football is slowly losing viewership and foothold on the younger generation because a lot of them are inclined on video games and more popular sports instead. I don't think adding crypto as an option for ticket sales is enough to get people interested in football again. There has to be more than integrating crypto: they need to have an effective marketing team to sell the 'beauty' of this sport to other people.

I haveno comment on the rest of T1 except for Kuku which is showing poor game on most of the T1 recent matches. The reason why T1 always lose these days is because Kuku can't do his job done as pos 3 to harassed the enemy carry. He is always useless during the early and mid game which is the reason why there carry can't catch up on enemy carry no matter how good they was. Karl is good midlaner but it looks like he can't carry his team because Kuku can't do his job correctly.

Kuku has a very limited pos 3 hero pool, hence why he can't keep up with the meta, or can't even dominate his lane unlike other pos 3s out there. Kuku needs to venture out of his typical pos 3 picks (Doom, Viper, Bat) if he really wants to be efficient and do something to help his team get the wins. As for Karl, he has his ups and downs too. He's a good midlaner, that's a given, but he still lacks the control that other mid laners possess. By this, I mean his aggressiveness should be in check and not overcommit on kills that won't translate to anything later down the line.

Idk if this is legit or not, but T1's social media handle announced Topson and Ana as new members of their roster. Terrible edit for Topson and Ana on wearing T1's jerseys but apparently a lot of known names in the industry have been acknowledging this announcement. I thought T1 was going to poach some players from SMG or any other SEA-based teams, but they decided to go all in and get Ana and Topson.

And it seems like it's legit. Even OG's twitter handle commented on the status: https://twitter.com/OGesports/status/1559556112516628481

Oh, this is a nice surprise. I searched it and found an article.

https://afkgaming.com/dota2/news/t1-play-with-topson-and-ana-in-ti11-sea-qualifiers

Apparently, ANA is the only newest addition to T1. Topson is still a stand-in for the SEA region qualifier.

I thought Topson wanted to play to a Europe team, but I guess there is no offer from other teams.

With this development plus the news that FNATIC got a ticket to TI 11 too, then T1 might actually have a chance to enter TI11. There is lesser competition now that FNATIC is not joining the brawl in SEA Qualifiers.

TOPSON has already adopted to SEA game styles, hopefully, ANA will be able to adopt too in a short period of time.

Ana can easily fit in. Remember that he's a SEA legend playing for other Chinese teams for a long time before OG sniped him from IG 6 years ago. Also, I think it's good that they took Topson as a stand-in rather than a permanent guy to let other teams know that if things don't work out for Topson in T1, he's still available to represent any other team. Overall this announcement shook a lot of teams and known figures in the Dota 2 scene. They probably didn't expect Topson to join a SEA team since he expressed that he wants to be picked up by an EU team for mid lane, and I guess no one really wanted to give him that spot on EU.

3668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expect The Bear Season. on: August 15, 2022, 10:32:16 PM
Gox has been a really long time issue, and its repayment terms have already been outlined a lot of times. A lot of those will be paid in cash, and IIRC, some of the cash were already at the hands of the trustees. The disbursement is what's taking so long, not the sell-off. It already happened, and if it isn't enough still, I don't think it will be that big to cause such a massive dump.

Nice try for fudding, but try again maybe you'll bait some newbies out there.
3669  Other / Archival / Re: Entrepreneurship or Office job? on: August 15, 2022, 08:11:06 PM
I'd certainly take some money on an office job first before I dive into entrepreneurship. A lot of millionaires are advocating for entrepreneurship because let's be honest, these guys didn't make their millions by working a 9-5 job, but some of them certainly came from that route before entering the world of entrepreneurship. Personally I'd choose selling some stuff to other people and make a profit off of it if I didn't get some promotions on my job. The freedom and the knowledge alone that you'll gain in setting up your business is already worth the risk.
3670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of privacy coin is not looking good on: August 15, 2022, 07:20:09 PM
Privacy coins are an extreme niche that caters to only a select few people that wants it. In the grand scheme of things, these coins are left out since they offer little return on investments, and that they are hugely a target of  the governments, making the buyers of these coins uneasy as if someone is always on the lookout for them. Also, there isn't that much of a market on privacy coins save for a few percentage on the total crypto market. Investment wise, this isn't really the best option to put your money on. But if you're just looking to make a transaction super discreet and you're looking to do it only once, privacy coins are for you (because apparently crypto mixers have become a huge target for the government when compared to privacy coins.)
3671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Macau's Casino Operation Continues Despite The Latest Outbreak on: August 15, 2022, 07:07:48 PM
Covid is slowly becoming old news for everybody, and I'm pretty sure that a large number of people around the world have already been vaccinated and some may have even taken the booster shots. IMO, what Macau did before was desperation, but seeing that the trend of outbreaks and infections are slowly decreasing, it is just wise to keep their casino industry active and hope that tourists will come visit the place and spend their money there. Even though their casinos are ready to serve gamblers, tourism restrictions and the likes are also one of their main enemies. It's hard for a tourist-dependent country to get back on their feet after this pandemic. We can see those effects ruin Sri Lanka economically, and it is really grim.
3672  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino2x.xyz NO KYC! Instant crypto deposit! Only in house games! on: August 15, 2022, 05:53:56 PM
Not really sure what edge you guys have from other casinos. The idea of in-house games is pretty cool, but we also need to know whether your games are audited and can be trusted. Also, I tried to wrap my head around the explanation regarding the $20 and $1 deposit/withdrawal. Still can't be sure on what to follow should I play on this casino. Anyway though, regarding the .xyz domain, they are on the rise as of late due to .com gTLDs scarcity. I guess I'd choose another extension as .xyz extension still has that negative connotation to it. Still not a very attractive extension but it works.
3673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Tips To Aide Successful Sports Betting. on: August 15, 2022, 04:47:34 PM
  • Gather as much information regarding the match and the players involved.
  • Select the odds from the respective gambling site based on the prediction after analysing head to head statistics.
  • Watch the game live, because at times the prediction goes wrong, and by the time can lower the losing placing a bet on the opponent.
  • For users who doesn't want to gather information and go for a bet on a game can go for live betting.
I am not that good with live betting, maybe because of the remaining personal bias.
I tried it last season of the NBA and I failed. I think the research made pre-game is what will stop the correct decision-making.
If I already decided that one team will win it but failed to put my bet the night before, even down by 10-15 points during the live game I still bet for them.
So a safer decision for me is just to forget about it and wait for the next game rather than take the risk. Or, don't bet for a winning team but instead go for total points or other options that don't rely on which team will win.

You're not the only one struggling with personal bias. Even if I have good info on the game regarding the condition of the players and also their overall H2H stats, I'd still go for the team that I like to win and not the one who is more plausible to win. Maybe because it's also the ego that fuels me to bet against the one who is more likely to win to prove that I also got what it takes to be a good tipster, but oftentimes it only leads me to a lot of losses.  Cheesy
3674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: August 15, 2022, 03:58:06 PM

If an old champion has no motivation to defend his title, then he is weak. Like it or not, but the motivation and will to be the best for many years is one of the parameters that determine the strongest players. Carlsen gave up the title and the fight for the vacant seat is interesting by definition.
In addition, we can assume that the level of contenders for the title is approximately the same, so we will see a sharp fight and not the dominance of one side, as in previous matches.

I wouldn't call Carlsen weak but it is indeed interesting that he vacated his title. In his mind, he has nothing to prove anymore as he is already a 5 time world champion and one of the greatest chess players of all time.
I hope that he can reach the impossible 2900 elo level as that would be some accomplishment!

Well, yes it is true, but we also do not know what situations he is going through, even so that will not take away all the mastery with which he plays chess, I would like to one day reach his level, but it would be with training almost 24 hours a day and that It would not be normal, in fact, it would be a great effort and I think that in the situations we are currently experiencing and with all the things that must be done, it is not very profitable, so perhaps he is going through a personal and very particular moment, but I don't think that has to mean that he is weak, I think that even with thousands of problems he will continue to win and be champion.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but chess GMs have one thing different from other normal chess players like us- they are genetically born with it.

Imagine, Magnus Carlsen at a very young age can calculate lines in his head blindfolded. I remember watching a chess video where Magnus was able to defeat more than 10 players simultaneously blindfolded in an exhibition match. Even if we do train for 24-hours a day, which is seemingly impossible, I really doubt that we will be able to reach the height of these super GMs in the chess field.

Like what you also mentioned, Magnus does not have to prove anything to the chess world. He is undoubtedly, the best chess player in history especially in the era of chess engines.

This is true. No matter how hard you train to be a Super GM, or to be somewhat near their skill level, you'll still be inferior on what they can do because it is already wired in their brain and is within their genes. A lot of times, those who only strived to be the best can attain Super GM status and can even compete among the gods, but they can't win world championships and will always come in second. Magnus' chess knowledge and his ability to run lines within his head and come up with an extremely accurate outcome just like what the chess engines are producing is just insane. I know Ding Liren, Nakamura, and Nepo also have this ability, but to be able to do it on almost all your games is just incomprehensible to me.

Also, his decision to not defend his title is something I respect. Dude's been playing for that top spot for over a decade now. The best of the best does not need to prove himself to anyone, especially if a lot of people have tried to prove themselves against him and still not succeed.
3675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency = The mother or father of all scams and bubbles on: August 15, 2022, 12:14:30 PM
That's a stretch. Scams and bubbles existed even before cryptocurrency was a concept. Roubini at this point is just trying to make waves across the space to gain some attention, and sure enough he did. Describing blockchain as "nothing more than a sheet in Excel" is overly simplifying the concept of an cleverly-crafted ledger built through cryptographic means. Either this dude has been burned by crypto and is now on a rampage to tarnish its reputation or he didn't come in early at the space and is looking to bring the price down to buy in Grin
3676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price of BTC ever hit $40k again? on: August 15, 2022, 11:02:59 AM
I remember a lot of threads asking whether bitcoin's price will reach x amount again, only for their questions to be answered with a huge 'YES'. Most of those who asked this question are either those who bought beyond those prices and those who are just trying to trigger some people. But yeah, it's still possible for bitcoin to reach $40k or even surpass it. Just look at the historical price data for 12 years and you'll see that bitcoin keeps on breaking records here and there. It just takes time and some interesting economic movements for bitcoin's price to take off. A lot are still interested and curious on the cryptocurrency, so there's not much to worry about whether bitcoin will cross a certain price point or not.

I'm sold on what Team Spirit can do now after watching the 3rd game of the series. Itemization and correct decision making really is the key to winning the game even if you are behind by a lot and your enemies have seemingly figured you out. I though PSG.LGD is unstoppable, but Team Spirit is just on a whole 'nother level. Collapse really redeemed himself and Yatoro once again proved that he's a better carry than Ame in this tournament.  Cheesy

Lost my bet to a finals with LGD again. Seems like I'm starting to doubt their abilities to win finals matches right now Cheesy
3678  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino can play a role in changing fortune? on: August 14, 2022, 08:05:28 PM
Smith is a lucky man because he was at the right place at the right time, it was his fate that took him there. I must say he never understood his weakness in his FedEx company that was why he got bankrupt.
Going to the casino made him realized his weakness in his business which he turned it into his strength, because he started all over again.

The chance of winning big in casinos are very slim.

And "fate" is what drives people to do absurd things thinking that they can replicate what others did because they feel like they're destined for that same thing. News flash: they're not. Smith is not only a lucky man but also a smart one that recognizes his situation and bailed out after he got something out of his luck. Most people would have continued playing because they believe they can get more. Perhaps Smith's business (FedEx) also helped him have a clear mind when it comes to such decisions. He knows his priorities and he knows what's best for him and his company.

@sujonali1819 No offense mate, but I'd like to ask you something.
Did you check the website first before accepting their offer to hire you to promote this new website?
This is a website with a very well-known cheap script and there is bunch of similar sites with the same script as you can find in this gambling board, the latest is the one that implement lightning network.
What happened to these websites? Most of them are tagged with negative trust because of scam.
I do not mean to say that it will be a scam as well, but I think I should remind others about this fact.
I know you have nothing to do with this site as you are hired to create an ANN thread only, but I think you should be more careful in accepting an offer from a new gambling site.
Just worrying that it may affect your reputation.
Last but not least, how the raffle works? I mean how the site draw the winner? Is it using provably fair system or not?
Raffle game should be completely fair IMO and every result should be verifiable to assure players that there is no cheat in the game.

Now that you mention it, I remember a few platforms that are actually similar to what you're describing. Cheap script, no provably-fair system, and a very basic ANN thread wherein the main handle of the gambling platform here at bitcointalk can't even buy a copper membership to do a proper ANN thread. There are a lot of missing details here on this platform to be up to par with the current standards, most especially the website design and the lack of ways for gamblers to prove if the session is legit or not. Hopefully this site improves, but even if it does, I honestly don't think a lot of people will catch up to the nature of the game they're trying to promote.

Team Spirit really put up a fight but unfortunately for them , they cannot have the team fights they were looking for as PSG were always one step ahead in the battle. Also , PSG gave the draft of 2nd map in favor of Spirit and they beat them again so don't get me wrong but I don't see any team that could stop PSG right now.  We have Spirit vs Aster next game and I think we all want to see Ame vs Monet , right ? I mean this are the best carries in dota 2 right now.

Rooting for Aster this series because I believe that the match will be more hyped if Ame and Monet encounter each other in the grand finals. They have been rivals a few years back for gaining that top carry spot in the Chinese Dota Scene. Both players are mechanically gifted, and their talents are only limited by their teammates. If you have teammates like xinqiu and y` doing a lot of work to make your game a lot easier, you'll stand out as a carry because your farm is not hindered and you can respond to fights well because you have the tools needed to make things work. Boboka is stepping up his 4 position game on a lot of pubs and we're seeing it on Arlington major. If he plays his A-game and be a nuisance to Ame and y`, they'll have a huge chance in gaining the upper hand since Monet likes to have sustainable carries that can be left alone and still get the cs he needs.

Going for a safe over 2.5 Aster vs Team Spirit but I'm liking the chances of Aster in this match up.

I may have lost the Aster ML but I won the over 2.5 maps. Overall I just watched the series and there are a lot of things that Team Spirit did well on this match-up, specially on game 3. Clutch silences on Monet's Troll Warlord is, IMO, what cost the game for Aster. Team Spirit's use of utility is top notch, and Collapse's positioning as Mars is as good as it can get on this game. They literally provided no opening for Aster on the 3rd game whatsoever, and even though I lost my bet, I had fun watching these two teams battling it out.

Up next is PSG.LGD vs Team Spirit. We all have our biases on this finals because of the two team's previous performances. Also, this is the last series before we head on to the Internationals season, so better get your bets lined up!
