7870, should be pretty nice for gaming =)
just dont push its voltage ...

They aren't nice... They're beastly 3dmark11 16k gpu scoring HD 7930's. hehe..

We need to stop calling them 7870xt/le !

Very nice Greaterninja. Wink

I've had one of mine up to 1225/750, stock volts/power limit which gets me 530 mhash/s. I'll need some cooler weather or better cooling on the vrms to know if its 24/7 stable.

1200/750 is. lol
3663  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is the best 7950 card for mining? on: May 23, 2013, 02:57:21 AM
When you're spending that much $$$ the MSI non ref gpus are well worth the little bit extra for the better cooling, components, and 1 extra year on the warranty. Also, removing the heatsink will not void the warranty unless you damage the pcb or hsf.

Every Sapphire gpu I've seen has turned out to be a heatbag even with an aftermarket cooler installed. The DualX coolers on my 7870xt Tahiti LE 7930 cards weigh next to nothing and do not belong on a $250 part.

Gooo.. XFX, Msi, Asus and Gigabyte. Grin

My 7950 Windforce 3GB OCs manage 610-630 kh/s each and I don't overclock or undervolt.
I also use Gigabyte cards.
7870 OC latest rev
7950 WindForce revision 2.  (windforce is the non OC version - same fan as the OC, yet comes at a lower clock)

7950 Windforce Revision 2 from Gigabyte do not come on reference 7950 PCBs though, they come on a 7970PCB.

Mine all happy overclock - but I do underclock the ram to reduce temperature and save around 20watts per card down to 300 or 310mhz.

My 7870s pull up to 550mhash (I mine bitcoins) and my 7950s gather up to around 650mhs.

However as I like to run at around 60*C, I have them auto tune and they run at 400 and 550mhash respectively.

550 mhash/s on a 7870 ?!  Shocked

Settings plzzzz.

How about.. we all agree to delete the image url when posting quotes ?

How about we setup a Btc tech support room with Paltalk ?

Very easy to share files.. thats if they have worked out the glitches lol..

I don't have the time to do it myself but will stop in and do what/when I can..

Do you have a psu tester ?

So a some hot air is probably pushed towards the back. But if you look at my screenshot of a couple GPUs doing 59C and 66C, I believe it'll be fine. I think the other GPUs with higher temps need a TIM replacement. From reading the newegg.com feedbacks, the Twin Frozr 3 have bad TIM from the manufacturer. Once I get around to getting it replaced, I'm sure I could lower the temps quite a bit.

where do you get TIM replacements from? which ones should I buy? I have 1 7950 that no matter what I do is always 6 -7 degrees over the other ones, probably that is the case too (sapphire 7950 oc boost) also have another sapphire 7850 with heat problems but it's because one of the fans are acting up Cheesy

Change the paste. Install the heatsink then remove and check see what pattern the TIM leaves behind.

Also check the thermal pads on the memory and vrm chips and make sure they line up and are not sqeezed on too tight. eg.. one of my R7870s and mobo both needed some work that way..

What on earth is that MASSIVE silver thing in there?!

Thats a lapped Zalman cnps 12x. It was crafted from a Diablo II berzerker axe that will smite ALL who dare impose their hot toxic computer fumes on others ! Tongue

I'll never go w/c because its too risky. Grin When the room is 20c or less.. I'm getting close to w/c temps anyways.. so meh..

3 gpus @1200mhz or better.. 1482 mhash/s .. The 7870's TF III thinks its a triple slot HSF. heh..

I'd like to dedicate this one to Crazyates. Breathe by Pink Floyd -->> http://youtu.be/rOtW2Tnaj_A

Looks super! What kind of PSU is that? Powered risers?

Thanks!
PSU is Enermax Platimax 1500W. 4 non-powered risers, and one powered.

Just curious - how did you figure out that only 1 of the risers needed to be powered? was it not working or is the riser the only 1x etc?

I ran it for a few weeks with 4 cards on non-powered risers. Then I felt like adding a fifth card. But was unsure if the mobo would survive. Look for massnerder's thread about the rig fire he accidentially caused. That's why I went for powered riser for the fifth card.

Those Gigabyte mobos are known for their hot NB. I tried to tame the 990x then gave up and ended up sending it in for RMA/refund after adding the 5850 because I knew the heat would damage stuff and/or eventually catch fire.

Temps ?

I want to change the TIM on every one of those...

The return of the Greenback and/or the gold/silver standard is more vital now than it ever was.

Really? You must be listening to Bill 'the Mason shill' Still and his Money Masters disinfo movie. Do I really need to explain why greenbacks are a total non-solution in THIS forum?

I do not know who this Bill is. At least you do. :p

Is there anything else you would like to assume about me ?

ANYTHING that causes the banksters to lose their grip on the world economy, is a gooood thing.

You'd think there would be a Greenback altcoin by now. lmao

Double speak is the status quo's greatest past time.

What was that I heard.. something about how the clamp down on money laundering put the banks into a cash shortage because nearly all fiat is in the hands of people who are involved in various illegal activities.

The return of the Greenback and/or the gold/silver standard is more vital now than it ever was.

Has anyone thought of creating a universal crypto wallet client that does the exchange rate for you ?.

Yup Chaoskampf. Its time for the dragon to eat it's tail.

When I'm not using D.I.C.E. for fun  Grin I "Mod" the GPU's for better cooling dropping temps 10-12c  Grin

Mind if I borrow a few of those VRMS and phases ?!  It will help to raise the temps, thus keeping your nice gpu from getting the chills. lol

That must OC like maaad.

I'll admit I moved my miners to a backup pool while this is sorted out. Something's all wonky with the site/widget, and I too am getting idle notifications.

I'm seeing some weirdness too at BTCmine. 1,2 or all three miners will show random 10 or 90% drops in performance when using Guiminer.

Other times Guiminer will report connection problems with one or more gpus. eg. miner is idle, longpoll i/o and rpc errors

Are the pools getting DDos'd or is it possible that the recent changes to the Bitcoind code may have messed things up a bit ?

I remember things being very stable up to the time that the fork and/or Bitcoin 8.0 happened.

Btw, when Dad's rig stopped submitting shares today, I was able to restart the miners from my place by changing the password then back again after waiting 20 minutes. F remote desktop ! xD

its a good thread except for one major thing...the dll site tries to install adware on your machine.  that is a really bad thing.

http://www.mediafire.com/?hlulrwjbk72ldly

should allow you to download the zip without installing adware.  no promises though as I will not monitor the link constantly.

update:   dude....GENIUS!!

thank you for the tip!

I've lowered temps on my 7990 malta from 79-86 range to 71-73C....hell yeah!!!!!

gpus 925-1000mhz, ram on all cards is now at 300mhz...this drastically reduced my heat...i am running stock cooling too...will post pics soon.

i put it at www.nogleg.com/archive/bitcoin.misc   as atiocdll.rar

i assume the DLL files are legit, i didn't use them myself (just ran through a couple virus scanners)

What file is that ?

The file that gets placed in the Afterburner folder is called, atipdlxx.dll.

edit..

What temps are you getting ?

If you can keep the vrms below 80c, raise the gpu 5-10 mhz untill it crashes..

The only non heatbag Sapphire gpu Ive seen was a reference hd6870. hmm I wonder why ?!

The Sapphire 5850, 7870 and both 7870xt's have stinky hot VRMS thx to the stinky cheap heatsinks.. :/

I'm so confused about your dislike of DGM on short rounds, because it pays out full to the miners. It's similar to PPLNS like that. If lots of short rounds happen in a row, you make lots of coins.
