I think it might be a good idea to start selling small amounts as soon as we cross above the trend line.
If you have faith that this bubble will hit the same max with respect to the exponential trend as the last two bubbles did, then you can wait until Bitcoin is heavily overvalued to sell.  But the idea that we are going to have a carbon copy of the last two bubbles strikes me as a little fishy.  It's lax thinking.

I think that the worst time to sell is actually after just crossing the previous ATH. Historically rapid appreciation has always resulted. If you want to minimize the risk, just sell when it is the most overextended Smiley Otherwise you increase the risk that you are holding depreciating fiat and squander your bitcoins. My minimum sell price is $3. I can sell you CALL options with that or anything above as the strike price Smiley

Thinking that the bubbles repeat the same pattern.. if SlipperySlope would post his chart of the relative valuation - at least last time they did.

We could have a 2011 style bubble this summer.
This is bitcoin.

This is also possible. Therefore only sell 20-30% at your preferred sell point so that you can fire another if it goes up another 10x. Or use the SSS method to rule out human judgement. If you do, I suggest you set the first sell point in $2-$3 range.

I take it you mean $3 per mBTC; sorry I have to get used to thinking in terms of mBTC.  Wink

i have the same problem Wink

maybe $3 pek k Satoshi is better

You mean $3 per kBit

Cmon i want my 50 coin buy order at $584 to fill. Its just $4... it would make such a big difference to meeeee.....

This is what i'm talking about. The kind of behaviour i just don't understand.
You traders are odd people.
You risk getting left behind and having to panic buy 10 maybe 30 bucks higher just because you want to save 5 dollars a coin.
Maybe it's different in this case but i'm seeing this all the time.

true that. I've come to realize: If you want to buy/sell, just do it!

Funny I've come to the exact opposite conclusion.

"If you want to buy/sell, don't do it"?

What difference would it make if the market got away from you to $650?

Well I'd be happy because I own lots of coins. So. But, I wouldn't be leveraged so I wouldn't have any chance to grow my BTC. So.

You have a leveraged buy order at $584? Hmm... doesn't that seem risky? We could easily correct? What's your liquidation point to the downside on that one?

Looks like we are testing 600 tonight. I wonder how far past it we will go.

Testing doesn't mean "going past", does it?

Will we bounce from $600 resistance?

I don't know, this market is incredibly strong as even the most hardcore "bears" waiting for lower prices have to realize the bottom is really in (how many have realized it). I thought $550 would hold us back for a while and result in a sizable correction to around $490. Didn't happen: we just went through it like it was warm butter.

The largest unknown for me is currently the size of the impact of media exposure when we hit higher prices that make good headlines. How many newbs are going to be flushing in. I'm already seeing slight influx of newbs (reddit users reporting their first buys and the like. btw: let's try to be nice to the newbs).

For now the rally seems to be based on "old" market participants (who were holding fiat for lower prices and now are starting to panic). Maybe the odd wall street guy is new, but we're not seeing real fresh blood flowing in yet.

I voted for bits because it makes the most sense to me to have up to 2 decimal points. However, does this mean that we have already decided to stick with the name "bits"?

We are not in a position to decide this. Noone is.

Well, actually: everyone is.

and that name is clearly not bit

"bit" is already in broad use on reddit with that tipbot. Average tip amounts seem to have fallen as a result, btw.

Although tipping frequency seems to have increased.

Maybe there's an influx from /r/dogecoin converts who discovered they can be bit-millionnaires Wink

bumping to bring the party back to everyones mind... it's looking not too unlikely my wish it would be in summer will be fulfilled.
3673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: May 25, 2014, 02:37:31 PM
This Is likely to be a big move.

A number of factors are coming together to encourage The Breakaway. With Ripple and certain alts crumbling, we should see a convergence of sentiment to the safe haven of Bitcoin.
i would not at all be shocked to see btc at 1000 in a week.

When I was looking for a document yesterday, I found my $1000 bitocoin party ticket.

I always hoped it would be in Summer, not in fucking December. Weather sucks in December in Frankfurt.
3674  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: May 25, 2014, 10:39:34 AM
can the trezor be set up in such a way to make it so that if your trezor was stolen by someone sophisticated such as a government that they wouldn't be able to get your bitcoins off of it. perhaps by requiring a very strong password to be entered pc side?

You can set an additional passphrase that will be added to the seed.
You can even use different ones for plausible deniability. You will get a different wallet for reach passphrase.

Choo choo?  Cheesy

I thought maybe we would just stabilize around $525, and then starting to choo choo on sunday. But now it is starting to look like there will be some action before that.

because someone said choo choo? I don't see significant action.

I genuinely find it confusing. Bits to me are an indivisible unit of information storage.
Here, have a choc bit cookie. oops.

edit: if a woman asks you 'do you fancy a bit?', do you reply, 'what, a 1 or a 0?'

And if a girl asks you for a date, do you reply: "it's May 23rd"?
