3661  Other / Meta / Re: Create a level above Legendary on: March 01, 2018, 01:51:04 PM
As I have said before I think there should be a new rank as Legendary is becoming far too common now, but I think the ranking system should just follow the current activity pattern that we have that doubles with each one and Legendary should become fixed instead of random:

Sr. Member:   Activity: 240
Hero Member:   Activity: 480
Legendary Member: Activity: 960
Mythical/Lamborghini/Whatever Member: Activity: 1920

Some sort of additional 'Sage' rank or title could be considered for achieving a high level of merit as well which maybe comes with an additional perk or two. You could of course also make the Mythical/Lamborghini/Whatever Member rank require some number of merit to achieve as well.

a new level based on Merits would be an awesome idea, it should be solely based on merits earnt and not what we were given. so say 1K merits earnt is the threshold and any member rank gets the new rank when it hits..

maybe call it a merit legend!

I like Sage.

noun
1.
a profoundly wise person; a person famed for wisdom.
2.
someone venerated for the possession of wisdom, judgment, and experience.
3662  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 01, 2018, 01:43:35 PM

Sure, it is possible that he could receive some merits on the local boards, too, but the way the system is now, seems to be biased in favor of making good English posts, as you recognize.  I doubt that is going to change any time soon, but hey, it is possible that Theymos will attempt to ensure that there are some merit sources who are participating in some of the local boards - to the extent that Theymos may be able recognize members who may be good in that regard or highly recommended by a trusted member to be good to become a merit source.

More sources can and will have to be added over time and this includes local board merit sources as quality posters in those languages will suffer, but the merit system is only a month old and will have some growing pains for a while but is probably nothing that can't be fixed.

-----------------

Someone created a thread about a merit ponzi that made me laugh:

If you feel this merit system is as dumb as it sounds, then you got my merit. Make a comment, +1 merit. Upvote the last comment, and hopefully the next comment will do the same. Maybe then you can rank up in this forum and actually be noticed. Its gonna take double the time and effort, but if your already posting here, then you know that.
3663  Other / Meta / Re: Merits all over the meta on: March 01, 2018, 01:34:13 PM

Removing signature globally will kill this forum from having visitors.

No it wouldn't despite how much you want to believe this...

Nobody knows for sure what would happen in that case, but I think it is very likely that forum traffic would decrease and that it would go somewhere else, like Roger Ver’s forum.

Some traffic would remain here for sure but I’m far away from thinking the overall result would be wonderful, and I also think if Theymos hasn't taken that measure yet it is because he thinks something similar, otherwise he would have taken it a long time ago.

Of course traffic would decrease hugely and people would flock to the next best thing but it wouldn't kill the forum. The forum will still be here and it will quickly turn into a utopia compared to what it is now. There's plenty of posters here who don't have or ever intend to join a signature campaign and in fact many of the best posters don't have a paid signature at all (DannyHamilton etc). I'm sure theymos has taken into consideration the huge effect banning signatures would have on the forum but he has also stated signatures will likely be the next to go in the merit system fails so for those thinking they'll never go I wouldn't get too cocky.
3664  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 01, 2018, 01:28:51 PM
It's still pretty bare bones and hardly a huge perk really. I have suggested and still think we should consider implementing the other membership levels with additional perks. Silver Member gets you everything a Full Member has and Gold everything a Hero does (with possibly additional benefits). Offering these ranks will essentially kill the market for farmed accounts and hackings as nobody will bother buying them when you can just purchase a legit one from the forum instead. At least all those crying that merit is too difficult to achieve can just buy the privileges instead and the money then goes to the forum rather than someone selling accounts or merits etc.
3665  Other / Meta / Re: Recent spam posts on: March 01, 2018, 12:52:57 PM
A newbie jail would work, but it would still allow the beginners section to become cluttered with the potential spammers.

It could be a sub board of Beginners and Help, though them being essentially shadowbanned until whitelisted would also work.

A "newbie jail" could work but only if it wasn't x amount of posts and more a case of meritable posts to get out although with that you would also have to have a dedicated mod and merit source.

This is one of the reasons why it was removed in the first place I believe because people just spammed rubbish for the x amount of posts over x amount of time then moved out. Making them get the merit first would probably be too difficult and time-consuming for them and some people would just get trapped in there indefinitely or quickly give up out of frustration.
3666  Other / Meta / Re: Earning merits/smerit on: March 01, 2018, 12:42:54 PM
- How they can stop them?

 - What sanction for them?

You've got your answers on how to police them from the links you provided. People will keep reporting them once discovered and if it's found out that they're farming or trading merit between themselves then their accounts will be ruined with negative feedback. Most people will figure it's not worth the risk but for those who do try it and get caught all the accounts that are involved will likely be ruined from ever joining a campaign so hopefully most will just accept that and learn to earn merit the natural way rather than take the gamble.
3667  Economy / Reputation / Re: Possible massive alt accounts over SEMUX signature campaign on: March 01, 2018, 12:39:19 PM
Report it to the campaign manager they'll have to use their discretion on this matter on whether these accounts are connected or not. It's very likely that most of these are connected, but without any real hard evidence such as posting the same address etc, there could be a few false positives there.

The campaign managers don't do anything. I messaged semux numerous times about the abuse on their campaign and got zero responses back. Well, that was until I locked their thread and banned their account. Surprise, surprise that immediately got their attention. They kicked a load of users off but it still obviously isn't enough and it's these sorts of campaigns that accept unlimited amounts of users and do nothing about the quality of posts that are always exploited time and time again. They really shouldn't be allowed to operate here like this and until there's repercussions for them nothing will change and farmers will keep easily abusing them because they're no quality checks at any stage.
3668  Other / Meta / Re: Account Ban Appeal !!!Please help on: March 01, 2018, 12:32:46 PM
Probably copy and pasting:

If you’re a fan of cryptocurrency and your country has banned crypto, you should move to Liberland, the land that recently adapted crypto as their official national currency. The Land was founded on April 13, 2015, by a Croatian economist and entrepreneur Vid Jedlicka, It lays on a 7 square kilometers radius and it borders between Serbia and Croatia.

Liberland is right now accepting applications for citizenship and those wishing to end up as citizens have to stand by the rules and directions. Half a million individuals from over the world, including more than 20,000 American citizens and around 7,000 from the United Kingdom have as of now applied for citizenship for this Eastern European nation.

3669  Other / Meta / Re: Recent spam posts on: March 01, 2018, 12:27:47 PM
I notice in the last few days quite a number of Xrumer-type automated spam shits on the forum. Mostly "Brand New" accounts with 1 post making blatant advertisements.

What if "Brand New" were restricted to the Introduction section where their Xrumer spam could be better contained?

Is there an Introduction board? I agree that the first 5 posts of a new member should be made on an introductory board.

No, but there used to be a 'Newbie Jail' which was the Beginners and Help section where all new users were locked into for their first x amount of posts and time spent browsing but it was removed. I don't think it would be a bad idea bringing it back though in some capacity. Having some sort of quarantine to catch all the spambots and same old questions that get asked time and time again (usually in the wrong section) would help clean the rest of the forum up. I also have previously suggested that all new users are essentially shadowbanned until a mod can check their first post or posts and then whitelist them if appropriate. Obviously all spam bots would be caught and shit threads would just get trashed before they could even become a mess.
3670  Other / Meta / Re: Please check why it was banned on: March 01, 2018, 12:21:48 PM
It's nuked. Probably for spamming. What sort of posts were you making?

Is there some log on this forum that displays all accounts?

Can you post the link to your profile please.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1633059

You can search for users at the top via the 'members' tab.

3671  Other / Meta / Re: Merits all over the meta on: March 01, 2018, 12:17:34 PM
Why majority of the post here is about merits??  I know that this category discusses about the forum but ALMOST the topics posted is about merits. Is this now the merit discussion?

Because it's a very new system and people are both confused and annoyed by it. You could say the same thing about ranks/activity and there was plenty of crying from users here when the signature restrictions were first implemented. People will get over it. I really can't wait for the hysterical crying if signature campaigns ever get banned. Can you imagine in?

taxes are making up 45% of my country's income. people are posting here with 5-50 accounts as full time job. they don't care if what they're doing could put them out of their jobs.

I see quite a few people from the Philippines and Indonesia claim bitcoin is good because they don't have to pay taxes on it (lol) and it just goes to show you both the ignorance and naivety of a lot of them but they're in for a shock when the government comes knocking on the door when they find out the level of evasion that is going on via this board and other bitcoin avenues. Good luck when they try go get a house or car or any other substantial purchase and they finally have to explain where all this untaxed money came from.

Removing signature globally will kill this forum from having visitors. We all know that having signature campaign is the one the brings traffic to this forum unlike other crypto relative forum. Without enough traffic advertiser wont waste money to put ads here which is necessary to pay all the bills for maintaining the forum.

No it wouldn't despite how much you want to believe this and theymos has already stated that if the Merit system doesn't work then disabling signatures would likely be the next step. It would kill shitposters for sure as they would disappear en mass like a fart in the wind but this forum was fine before signature campaigns were here as are all the other forums on the net that don't have campaigns which is 99.999999 of them. People would still advertise here and the forum would likely take in even more money because the majority of advertising money is lost to signature campaigns already.
3672  Other / Meta / Re: Is there an accepted way to apply for Mod of a board? on: March 01, 2018, 11:52:09 AM
You have to report an astronomical number of posts and have a ridiculously high accuracy rate.  I don't think it's something you apply for.

That's a bit disheartening to be honest :/

I report crap as I see it, and have 100% accuracy to date. But I don't have 15 hours per day to put into just that activity. The hours that I can give would be (hopefully) useful, but if it's a numbers game....meh :/

Thanks for the reply anyhow, Og, appreciate it. I'll leave this out there. Maybe it'll be considered.

If you don't have time to report a lot of posts you probably don't have time to be a mod here. Moderating is a hundred times more work than just reporting occasional posts whilst you're here browsing. Reporting posts is the best way to become a mod because it shows staff you would be beneficial to the board  but it's not always about being the person who reports the most either nor do you need to be on here '15 hours a day'. Rickbig didn't have anywhere near the current top reporters but he was active in reporting when there were no mods around so it was a logical choice to have him on board.
3673  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 01, 2018, 11:48:02 AM
Copper Membership is just meant to be a bare bones status that is essentially just a way to automatically white-list yourself and give you some of the privileges that have been taken away from Newbies. I would only support avatars being enabled in any additional higher ranks such as Silver or Gold as I have suggested previously.

Lastly, Junior Members and Members aren't required to wear an avatar in SigCampaigs. So, keep those "it will be used for campaigns"

They're not currently because they obviously cannot have them but this would soon change once they are in fact allowed to via purchasing copper membership.

It's easier for anyone to be well known with an avatar.

Post are more likely to be noticed if a user have an avatar.

And this could also be a problem with those trying to impostor older accounts. Create an account with a similar username, change your avatar to theirs and try your luck. With the cheapness of the Copper rank it might be worth a shot and that's why I would only support it for a higher/more expensive rank.
3674  Economy / Reputation / Re: Can you still believe aTriz words? on: February 28, 2018, 02:14:40 PM
I think aTriz was thinking with the wrong head here and blew his beans prematurely. I hope at least he got a free cam show chucked in the deal. Not really worth it if he has to pay the deal in full for the three years though Grin.
3675  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why I think User "alia" is a (potential) scammer? User "aTriz" maybe involved! on: February 28, 2018, 01:06:43 PM
Most of the non-virgins have figured out that I am a girl, mainly because they don't think that having a RL LIFE GRILL talkin to them is that outlandish.

Ah, the classic must be virgins attack. Nice. Next up basement dwellers in their mum's house. And it's pretty outlandish on this forum. It's just a shame that 99% of the people who claim to be women here aren't and are just trying to scam in some capacity.

Like I said... not only to we both use each other's accounts sometimes, we also have similar interests, etc. etc.
As in you both are camgirls / love Game of Thrones / incest?
Just curious.

I mean, it certainly looks that way:

Lol. The hole just keeps getting dug deeper.

I wrote that feedback myself. Roll Eyes

People here aren't stupid,

Yeah, most aren't. Are you really going to keep up with these excuses? Again, you're really just wasting your time now.
3676  Economy / Reputation / Re: What if there’s no brother? (Tell me, who had that idea?) on: February 28, 2018, 12:48:32 PM

Your rep won't be restored even if you did a dance on cam for me that I specifically choreographed for you with your passport and social security card glued to your forehead whilst chanting my username and today's date. You're just wasting your time here now.

As funny as that is... you're dead wrong. Come back in a year, sweetie

Thanks. I had a little chuckle to it myself. I look forward to being proved wrong. I would bet nothing will have changed in a year though, but I really think you're just going be wasting your time. You got caught out in numerous places and even if you could convince someone via cam or other means you are a girl most of the intelligent folks here won't buy it for reasons already stated.

Out of interest, how much would a video be of you dancing to my own choreography with your passport stuck to your head whilst chanting my username be?  Grin

Like I said... not only to we both use each other's accounts sometimes, we also have similar interests, etc. etc.
As in you both are camgirls / love Game of Thrones / incest?

lol. It was a friend/ex would have been more believable. At least that Speaker girl guy above had the wit to blame it on an ex when caught out using some scammer's bitcointalk addresses.

Your rep won't be restored even if you did a dance on cam for me that I specifically choreographed for you with your passport and social security card glued to your forehead whilst chanting my username and today's date. You're just wasting your time here now.

I can hardly believe that this individual actually thinks that “Alia” became the talk of the town in a matter of days without any special—assistance.

Sorry about that, hilarious.  (But actually, it is hilarious.)

Talk of the town? Hardly. You're still suffering under the delusion that your world is everyone else's world, too. It is unfortunate to see how quickly people can turn - I had thought I had found a genuine friend in you. It turns out not only are you a viper like the rest, you also have a lowkey god complex. It's very sad, seriously. I'm sad to have lost you, you made my day so many times throughout the last few weeks

I'm waiting for the nullius/alia sextape to leak.
3677  Economy / Reputation / Re: What if there’s no brother? (Tell me, who had that idea?) on: February 28, 2018, 12:31:38 PM
I repeat: you can't fake a Skype call!

Of course you can. The girls above did. People can just use their wife/girlfriend/sister/slam-piece/girl they met off tinder etc etc. A picture/call/webcam session proves little really. All it proves is there's a woman involved somewhere whether voluntary or involuntary. The Speaker girl above was in on most of it but it was a guy controlling 'her' forum account here orchestrating the scams and as far as I recall the homeless Jackie girl was apparently just sneakily exploited without her knowledge of the scam, and again, the same dude was pulling the strings here without her knowledge.

It just occurred to me - if I am fake and not really a girl, why the fuck would I go through the trouble?

To scam, obviously. You know as much as I do if you can convince people you're a woman beyond all reasonable doubt it will be a lot easier for you to scam. I would bet both my bollocks you are almost certainty a dude in charge of this account just to try scam in any capacity you can (and looking at your threads these methods seem to be quite diverse), but sure, there likely will be real life woman you've managed to convince to do cam sessions or whatnot involved but it proves nothing.

It's easy to dismiss me as a one month account with red trust. But I am a human being, I am someone who wants to offer my services here and make this forum a better place. I want to prove who I really am via Skype, I want to be interviewed, I want to do whatever it takes to redeem myself. I know that to you guys I'm just the day's entertainment, but to me this is a pretty big deal. I don't want a negative tagged account. I want to make business relationships here

Make it a better place by attempting tax evasion and other shenanigans? Forget it. Move on to the next account/scam/girl. The it was my brother/mother/sister/class mate and we were just sharing accounts is the bitcointalk equivalent of the dog ate my homework excuse.

You are calling me a scammer, but I have not scammed anyone.

Not yet. The long con game was obviously in motion though.

I will make it a point to prove everyone wrong. I'll continue attempting deals (using escrow) and I'll win back everyone's trust, through pure time and evidence. Ignore me for now, if you really want. I wouldn't recommend it though. I want you people to fucking Skype me for evidence, lol

Your rep won't be restored or story believed even if you did a dance on cam for me that I specifically choreographed for you with your passport and social security card glued to your forehead whilst chanting my username and today's date. You're just wasting your time here now.
3678  Other / Meta / Re: Moderators needed in Bitcoin Discussion section on: February 28, 2018, 12:05:54 PM
Just report the shit threads. People hardly report them so that's why they stay for ages and I'm often appalled at how long they've been there and how many responses they've got without a single report. Most mods don't patrol their boards looking for things to do and I barely go in most boards except Meta these days but when I do in there I usually trash several threads but reporting them would get them cleaned up a whole lot quicker.
3679  Economy / Reputation / Re: What if there’s no brother? (Tell me, who had that idea?) on: February 28, 2018, 11:44:31 AM
New hypothesis:  There really is a girl actively involved, not only as a hireling or sidekick but perhaps even as the one writing the posts here.  revcback/favours/whatever is the boyfriend or “FWB” who provides penis for on-camera sex acts which require one.  There is no brother-sister relationship.

This sort of scam isn't new but can be very effective in getting thirsty makes to drop their guard and part with their money once they've seen a bit of verified flesh (because a real life woman won't scam you, right?). Anyone can pay $5 or so to get a sign made from a half naked girl with a timestamped username of your choice but getting someone to do cam sessions is a bit trickier but not when cam girls do it for a living and will happily take people's money regardless of where it comes from. It's been done on here a couple of times. If I recall correctly a couple of people 'verified' that the user codishmumu was legit via some cam session and turned out it was a dude, and even further back than that there was a guy who was pimping out his druggy girlfriend in exchange for drugs off Silk Road, and guess what? Turns out to be a dude and went on to scam someone with a gambling site they launched:

Post them!

What he actually looks like:

Just gonna do some diggin' here:

Your address: 1GHocj5NrZLcpdUoX7YQbj34NcrwwTarWu

DaSkipper's address: 1GHocj5NrZLcpdUoX7YQbj34NcrwwTarWu

A picture-thread started by DaSkipper

Is this Ron?

yeah that's the faggot. Ron isn't his real name. I would link his real name but you guys would dox me in a heartbeat if I did.

What caused you to sever ties with "Ron"?

I really don't wanna talk about it but if you guys really want to know I'll give a little details.

And there was his 'homeless Jackie' scam before that which was later found out to be him:

Hey all!
Just found a chick who likes (1)Bitcoins, (2)Chats on the forums about anything, (3) I Dont think is a lesbian!
Check out her site at: http://homelessjackie.com
Her Bitcoin Donation Address is listed here: http://homelessjackie.com/bitcoin-donations/

Come on people this is from what i see a first time real world chick! get those bitcoins going!

Does anyone have the verified pictures of the alleged alia girl? This scam certainly reminds me of the above one and the guy is a long time scammer going back years who I doubt ever went away.
3680  Other / Meta / Re: Yet another "Merit" post....please just hear me out for a minute. on: February 28, 2018, 05:17:37 AM
No - Poor you. Or should I say lucky you. Glad you made it before the merit system so you can just sit back and chill and be negative and act like a fucking know-it-all elitist because you have an older account then most. WOW DUDE - IMPRESSIVE STUFF! And yes, it has to do with rank, it will suck for some of us to spend years here only to be the same rank we were once the merit system was implemented due to the shitty system. I would like to wear an avatar IS THAT OK WITH YOU SIR? Get a clue.

You're the negative one here not to mention very cynical. You'll only stay the same rank if you're a shitposter with nothing worthwhile to contribute and if that's the case I'm glad these people will get nowhere and the system will work as intended. Contribute something and stop whining and being lazy and you'll get your rank over time once you earn it.

More of your douchebag elitist attitude. Dude - just because you created an account here a while ago doesn't make you a forum GOD. You didn't even spell "demoralized" correctly. If you are going to act so snooty at least get your spelling correct! And yes, people should just give up and leave because of people like you. Lol. Sorry but that is not only NEVER going to happen - this forum will grow and grow until people like you decide to leave and go somewhere you think is better. Feel free to make a better forum - one in which you can be the SOLE KING!

I think you should learn to speak English because the proper spelling is actually 'demoralised'. Attacking someone's spelling is always a petty and childish ad hominem usually from people incapable of making a valid argument but incredibly ironic when you get it wrong. Also, I think it should be you who's creating a new forum since you obviously know how to run one best (yet offer no actual solutions).

Maybe because I am still new. I mean for a genius like yourself that one seems obvious right? I didn't know shit about buying and selling accounts, merit, trust, any of it until the merit system was introduced and I saw a ton of threads about all this crap. Again though, you must have known this with your Jedi powers.

What does being new have to do about it? Ignorance on your part isn't an excuse but not sure how you only realiSed account sales took place once merit was introduced. You obviously knew about ranks so why did you not complain about those not being fair and that you're not magically and instantly a Hero member with avatar?

Google ATS - it stands for Above Top Secret. Before that forum got infiltrated by the government it was the the best forum on the planet for that type of content and the largest too. And yes, they found a VERY good way to deal with a similar system to "merit". Nothing is perfect, but it is definitely better than this one, even after all their faults over the years since I left.

Oh, a forum to discuss aliens and 9/11 conspiracies that has been infiltrated by the government lol. That explains a lot about you. You do know the illuminati runs this one, right?

There will always be shitposting in large community forums. Dude are you new to this shit? But the idea is supposed to be to promote better quality posting, not give people with old accounts a new way to abuse them.

Yes, there will always be shitposting on forums but not to the extent there is here because this forum is pretty much the only one where you can get paid to post which exacerbates the issue a hundredfold and hence why people sign up with dozens to hundreds of accounts each just to shitpost. The merit system now heftily curbs that behaviour, but again, you've offered absolutely no suggestions at all other than childish whining. Please let me know when you come up with something that will work better and I'll pass it on to the admins.
