Great story with a happy ending it seems!
Need more stories coming out like Dob Zombies and his wife, and the Bitcoin Community doing their part to help a brother in need.

Now that Circle has launched, it doesn't get any less painless and hassle free than that: https://www.circle.comProbably the fastest way to get Bitcoins too.

Honestly I selected % of both. You can't go "full retard" on getting paid in all Bitcoin at this juncture, not with the wild price swings of late. Especially if you have mortgage, rent, bills, food, family, living expenses to pay off each month.
Until mass adoption, development, and technology (I know this is slowly happening and is underway) take off and BTC price stabilizes to an acceptable level, then you can't afford to gamble your livelihood while we're still in the "Innovation/early adopter" phase.

If you're in need of space heaters in your home/apartment, then you can run them to produce both heat and some BTC change at the same time.
Otherwise, it's probably not worth the electrical expense of running it 24/7.

Yup, redsn0w, in the beginning of the CPU days, we needed as many people as possible mining to support the network.
After the Asic era launched though, it's safe to say that the Bitcoin network is out of the hands of the home miner.

I thought Russia banned Bitcoin awhile ago. Seems like it's been banned several times already. As long as China doesn't ban it for the thirteenth time! ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

is there anybody purchasing new hardware or cloud hasing contracts?
snip
The people mining not only for gain bitcoin , but most importantly for support the network .It's not really supporting the network though, especially if you only have a few TH/s. There's already over 250 PH/s on the network, most of which are by those huge industrial mining operations. If you pull your miners or shut them off, no one will even notice. So in actuality you're just really losing money for no reason. If you really want to support it, just serve as a node, evangelize Bitcoin to your friends, family, or co-workers, and generally just continue to use it when you can. Mining isn't supporting Bitcoin for the home/hobby user. It's just making your pockets alot lighter.

Any opening for a member?
Unfortunately, you have to be at least a Full Member, and by looks of it on the first post, looks to be Full at the moment. Try checking back once you're Full Member to see if this campaign is still running, and if any slots open up or any posters drop out.

I am very new to mining/pool mining. I have around 20 pcs I could use to run mining all day. I signed up for DigitalGeneration and got the Trial thread and let it run all last night but when I refresh my stats it still says I have not earned anything. I would like to find something reliable and that works thats something like DigitalGeneration that I could run on all of those PCs at once. I heard EoBot was pretty decent. Just want to get it running on all of them and let them hum away. Any suggestions?
Gets you nothing even if you have 100 pcs.. Not even a 1000, 10000, million PC's etc. Electrical costs make sure of that. Not to mention all the motherboards and CPU's you'll end up burning up.

Wow was so tempted to get at least 1 or 2 units of the S4 just for the heck of it, but looks like I dodged a bullet with Batch 1.
I'm sure Bitmain will iron out these QA issues by either next batch or batch 3 or 4.

Wait for it to dip below $350, then go all in! ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) At least that's what I'm doing...but don't follow what I do, everytime I buy, it sinks some more. ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif)

Why do we have to install anything for OpenBazaar if we're on a desktop, Linux or Windows?
I don't have to install anything to launch eBay, I just load up a website and I'm buying and selling.
Unless OpenBazaar follows a similar design, it's doomed to fail. Need to make it more for the masses, not just a niche crowd.

Wow. Looks like I need to start selling my bitcoin on localbitcoins.
Another and more important noob question: I remember reading way back when that I needed about 24 or so posts before I would no longer be considered a newbie. Well, I'm still a newbie. How can I stop being a newbie?

There are many home miners with free electricity, they are unbeatable. If they scale up the operation and have large management and electricity overhead, then they can not hold long in a bear market. The most stable situation for bitcoin mining is millions of users mining at home using mostly free electricity, so that the cost is well under control. Large mining farms will be too risky, they have to either find the private investors to sell their coin or sell the hash power through a competitive pricing
Really? Where in the USA can one get free electricity? I might have to move there to start my mining farm! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) A lot of people seem to confuse "free" with "somebody else is paying for it." ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) True, there's included in rent or maintenance costs, then there's the "Landlord ain't gonna pay shit for this outrageous electrical bill cost you passed on to him". Nothing's completely free, a line gets crossed at some point.

Mining is zero sum game for the average consumer right now. No matter what scale, small or large, is a loss from day one.
Only person that profits, is the one that sells the pickaxes to John Doe(Asic Manufacturers).

Home mining isnt dead. We just need cheaper power to complete with the giants...
How does one go about to get cheaper power? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Faffordablehousinginstitute.org%2Fblogs%2Fus%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fdo_tell.jpg&t=663&c=Fj6tmnqM_xQ0iA) Oooh, I know I know! We get a bunch of giant hamsters and a bunch of giant wheels, and then let them run for hours and hours generating free electricity! Brilliant.

They shipped!!!! .....an email:
Hi xxxxxx,
What are they shipping? SHA or scrypt miners? Fairy dust algorithm: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffc07.deviantart.net%2Ffs70%2Ff%2F2011%2F025%2Ff%2F4%2Ffairy_dust_by_desperadofromhell-d382bh2.jpg&t=663&c=cjgl6U_G6flswQ) After all profitability goes out the window and you start threatening them with lawsuits, then they will magically ship. It's magic!
