@Hueristic. Agreed! However, it does not cover the spread for the people that gambled on the Ravens. The spread was Baltimore -3.5, was it not? I might be wrong.
Now they covered with that safety at the end. Brutal for those who got the browns spread. What a game though.  Cheesy

Perhaps one of the more entertaining games of the year. That last play tho... I put in a small bet at +5 Cleveland minutes before the game started and it turned out to be a nailbiter. I don't blame them for trying to do what they did, but uh, they got a bit silly with it and did one too many laterals. So I went from a win to a draw, whatevs.

Here's the last play for those who want to see it:

Why limit your post title to only mentioning Monero?

I mean I'm happy for Monero because this means they have a use case outside of darkmarkets  Cheesy but they've clearly added a lot more; lets list them:

BCH
DASH
ETH
ETC
LTC
XMR
XEM
USDT
TRX
XVG
WAVES
ZEC

Bottom line: don't give a shit because I'm not paying for porn, but ultimately any time of potential adoption is good, so all the more power to those who do...
3683  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ingenious scammer @vareole (PROOF) on: December 15, 2020, 06:51:32 AM
@nutildah, @TalkStar, and other DT members who defensed this scammer.

So what now?! Smiley You were defensing this scammer hardly, you got a proof and now staying quiet?

That's hardly "proof." Where is the person who was scammed?

So another guy got him

So who is this other guy? What were the details of the order? What is the Telegram account name of the guy he is talking to?

I'm not "defensing the scammer," I'm explaining why this doesn't count as evidence that Vareole is a scammer.
3684  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [BET] Trump or not Trump 2020, eddie13 vs suchmoon on: December 15, 2020, 04:24:29 AM
nutildah, TwitchySeal - here's the TX:

Awesome, thanks suchmoon. And thanks eddie13 as well for upholding his end of the bargain. It was a long journey, fraught with twists and turns, and some would even say its not yet over. But let's face it, its over, and I look forward to reading Trump's tweets every morning up until Jan 20th. Never give up! Lol.
3685  Economy / Reputation / Re: Would you consider wearing signature = shilling? on: December 15, 2020, 03:21:56 AM
I think its on the lower end of the range of what is considered to be "shilling." The scale of shilling goes something like this:

<Least Severe>
 - Somebody telling you to use a product even though they don't get paid to do so.
 - Somebody advertising something (sig campaigns).
 - Somebody telling you to use a product and getting paid for it.
 - Somebody telling you to use a product, getting paid for it, and pretending they're not doing one or the other.
<Most Severe>

3686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: nutildah's NFL late season picks on: December 15, 2020, 01:16:02 AM
To be honest, I did tail your pick on Washington vs Steeler's game, 12/08. Got nervous with Steeler's was ahead on the first half, but that mistake was costly for Steelers.

And I'm glad I did, ML is already juicy as it gets.  Smiley. First time for me to bet on NFL and I will say that I'm happy with the results. Keep it up mate.

To get that game at 3.2x is pretty good, better than I got it I think. Glad it worked out for you! I'd be lucky to get a pick like that again before the end of the season. Probably won't happen, but who knows...

Today's game (Browns vs. Ravens) is a bit too close to call one way or the other. I'm rooting for the Browns, personally. They seem to be on a roll and need this game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Unfortunately for them, the Ravens need this game even more, and they've been playing pretty decent as of late as well.

So its too close to call. Some good games coming up next Sunday tho.
3687  Economy / Gambling discussion / nutildah's NFL late season picks on: December 14, 2020, 02:56:37 AM
I've been betting on NFL games on and off for about 10 years, don't have a great track record to share with anybody, but two years ago I called all 7 post-season games, including the Super Bowl.

Last year I didn't do too hot, but this year I've been doing pretty well, for at least the last couple of weeks. I started off the season cold and had 3 bad picks in a row. I took the middle of the season off, and have come back to 5 wins in a row. I like to think I do a little bit better late in the season but who really knows. This is not financial advice, lol.

Here's the call before the start of each game:

1.
Gonna take Miami at -10.5 this week for 1.98x, which I think is a good deal. I tend to do a little bit better toward the end of the season because teams that are really fighting for wins to get into the playoffs have more of an incentive to get extra points than those who have no chance. Additionally, if they tend to cover in the past, that trend should continue into the playoffs, is my rationale...

I also like Washington Football Team to finally hand Pittsburgh a loss.

2-3.
I put a bet in on Washington to win the ML, and a bigger bet to cover @ +6.5 (in retrospect I should have gone with +7). So if they just cover then I'll still be up a little, we'll see.

4.
I'm taking the Rams at -5 instead of -4.5 so that was the payout will be closer to 2x... Line seems to have shifted just a tiny bit closer to -5.

5.
I narrowed my list of 4 games down to one game that looks a lot better than the rest, and that is:

Tennessee @ -7

Also, not saying these count for anything necessarily but 3 of these 4 games have already won, with the 4th being played tomorrow:

Immediately I like the following for Sunday, but I'm gonna think a bit deeper about it before placing a bet.

Cleveland +2.5 (plays tomorrow)
Washington +3
Miami +7
Tennessee -7

The thing is I don't really have a "Pick of the Week" yet, but I would be most inclined to take a look at the Ravens/Browns game tomorrow and see if there's any good reasons not to take Cleveland at +2.5. For now I'm just setting up this thread for my first pick, which will likely be a Sunday game.

So yeah, since I won 5 games in a row I'm now an expert in everything forever,* and so I opened my own thread about it.

* This is sarcasm and who knows, I'm equally as likely to be a reverse indicator for betting as I am to be good at it, as a disclaimer. I really just wanted to open a thread to harbor my own picks. Feel free to comment and/or add your own NFL picks, for the remaining games, playoffs, super bowl, etc. No spammers or dufuses.

I put in a decent size bet for my standards on this one. Besides the fact that the Titans are 58% more likely to cover the spread than the Jags, this is a must-win game for Tennessee whereas Jags are out completely. They already got their one win so they're not winless for the season, now they're done.

Titans will be ramping it up just a bit to secure the V. Let's hope its by more than 7 points. I don't like Tannehill generally speaking but when you look at what's on the other side of the equation, he's perfect for the situation.

In the past I've jinxed the Rams by betting on them, but I think they're a better team now and have a lot of games where they've covered the spread, unlike the Pats. Also, Pats are all but mathematically out for playoff contention whereas the Rams need this one to keep up with the Seahawks, who will assuredly win against the Jets this week (almost assuredly). I'm taking the Rams at -5 instead of -4.5 so that was the payout will be closer to 2x... Line seems to have shifted just a tiny bit closer to -5.

Who do you guys like for today or this weekend?

The author is the dev of NEO which recently rebranded itself for DeFi (go-to move for flailing shitcoins these days). I hope he had to pay to get that article published.

Bitcoin does not care any more about our cypherpunk ideals or dreams of citadels, than it does Peter Schiff's hatred of it, or Michael Saylor's mainstream coddling.

Every kind of person can use it.  And everyone that stands in it's way will be destroyed.

True, hard to argue with that. I just don't like him, and bitcoin doesn't care about that either.

I'm anticipating him attempting to mold bitcoin into what is best for billionaires and pre-emptively hating on him for that. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

How ironic and funny this situation is. A "MODERATOR" is a plagiarist?

If you're referring to Ratimov, he's not a moderator. He's just in the ChipMixer campaign which means he is receiving extra scrutiny.

I think Ratimov has learned what to do going forward after all this in order to avoid these types of threads being made about him in the future.

@Ratimov: You do a lot of good work but its actually too much! Just be yourself and don't try to impress everyone so hard going forward. Trust me, we're already impressed.

As you note, he also made other deceptive backdated edits.

Thanks... my brain was a bit too scattered at the moment to remember all these tidbits.

I read a few of your posts and am inclined to believe you. Welcome back.
3697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with Gavin Andresen? on: December 10, 2020, 02:17:52 AM
His former blog shows him to speak about Bitcoin by 2009, a few days after Genesis Block:
http://web.archive.org/web/20140602022810/http://gse-compliance.blogspot.com.au/2009_01_04_archive.html

But the only captures from Archive.org date from 2014. Could he put up an entire fake blog to second his story? Idk!

Oh buddy. You have some catching up to do. Start here:

https://twitter.com/MyLegacyKit/status/1220264990810300416

Then here:

https://modernconsensus.com/commentary/the-case-against-craig-wright-part-i-2009-2011/

He (CW) didn't wrote that, Satoshi did. And yes, other than the domain change the text is exactly the same at both former and current Forum.

OK so we're more on the same page than I previously suspected.
3698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with Gavin Andresen? on: December 10, 2020, 02:02:17 AM
@nutildah,

That may actually check out. This forums wasn't originally under "bitcointalk.org" but "bitcoin.org/smf". The change happened by 2011 and Satoshi (the real one) isn't around since December 2010.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3;sa=showPosts;start=0

That's not the part I was referring to -- it was the part where he said that the content of his posts had been dramatically altered (outside of the auto-substitution of bitcoin.org for bitcointalk.org links)... He's basically insinuating that the content of posts had been changed for nefarious purposes when in fact there is no evidence of this.
3699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with Gavin Andresen? on: December 10, 2020, 01:10:10 AM
Not to mention 14 to 17.24 BTC isn't exactly "a lot", especially for 2014.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4hqbux/fun_fact_craig_wright_lost_14_in_mtgox/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4hx3q9/according_to_the_mtgox_leaks_from_early_2014_our/

Trying to not commit the same mistake as Gavin, but he seamed to have a good insight of our early community

Not really. He's droned on and on about how he (supposedly) didn't post half of the stuff that is currently under the satoshi account name, dedicating an entire blog post to it:

https://craigwright.net/blog/bitcoin-blockchain-tech/satoshi-never-posted-on-bitcointalk/

If you don't see how he's a pathological liar by now even after being thoroughly trashed in court (even by judges), you're not really paying attention.

Just plain old scotch brite pads and elbow grease!

How does one procure elbow grease? Do you buy it in bulk or wait for it to appear on one's elbows, presumably the result of some sort of manual labor activity?
