3681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has a forked cryptocurrency ever been more valuable than the original? on: March 11, 2018, 03:39:50 PM
it depends on a lot of things.

first of all a fork does not nessasarily mean that there will be more than 1 coin after it. for example bitcoin had a soft fork a couple of year ago to activate pay to script hash features and nothing happened.
but sometimes when the fork doesn't have enough support (bitcoin cash for example) or when the fork is intentionally creating an altcoin (all the rest of the bitcoin something forks) there will be more than 1 coin afterwards.
as others said the chain with the majority support will always be the original as bitcoin with Segregated Witness is the bitcoin, original or whatever you want to call it and it is worth more be cause of the more demand.

of course there is an exception to this rule and that is when we are talking about centralized altcoins. when such a coin has a fork, the users (the majority) have no say in it, and the centralized entity will define the future of that coin. because of that their fork may have the higher value. and that is what we saw in the roll-back fork of ethereum which created the new thing which effectively killed ethereum's immutability, but because of its centralization and the power of the entity behind it (the ETH foundation) it is worth more, advertised more and gained more popularity.
3682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it useful to invest my bitcoin to ICO sites? on: March 11, 2018, 03:29:53 PM
what is an ICO "site"? if it is some website asking you for investment in the name of ICOs then no it is most probably a big scam trying to steal your money and give you nothing in return.

if it is ICOs themselves, then my suggestion is no because ICOs are highly risky and you should move ahead with extreme caution. and as a beginner who needs to ask others you seem to not know your way around the market so it is best that you stayed away from them for now.
3683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Space on: March 11, 2018, 08:58:54 AM
Will we, the human race, take BTC and other blockchain tech with us in space? I'm sure we will. When we literally go to the moon, and to mars, etc., what role will Bitcoin serve?

the answer to your question is a little futuristic and a bit science fictiony!

we can bring bitcoin as a currency to other planets as soon as we actually went to those planets and also we could colonize these planets! right now an astronaut going to outer space does not need a currency! they are not shopping up there to need it Cheesy
and i am sure by them the form of currency has already changed into crypto.
3684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox trustee sells on: March 11, 2018, 08:37:06 AM
did you just copy paste the list of these coins from other sites similar to yours and created the list? or do you actually know why these addresses belong to MtGox trustee?

if you know, i would very much like to hear your reasons why you think these addresses belong to them. thanks.
3685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trading bot used by majority of people on Binance got hacked; not Binance. on: March 11, 2018, 08:01:24 AM
maybe i missed it but the article had no mention of the name of the bot and just calls it "the trading bot used by majority of people"! so which one is it? and how was it hacked. you can't just write an article and make claims expecting us to take your word for it. let us know the name of this bot so we can avoid it or follow up with a fix for it.
3686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government's corruption using Coins on: March 11, 2018, 07:50:49 AM
and why would they want to do that?
you see it is a matter of comparison between the different options. on one hand we have bitcoin which is a decentralized currency that is still small, with limited supply and they can not control. they may affect it but never control it.
on the other hand we have the centralized fiat system which they fully control, has unlimited supply and they can print it anytime they wanted.

which one of these do you think they will choose for the reasons you have in mind?!!
3687  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading learnings offer on: March 07, 2018, 04:28:59 PM
i want to say that if it is free learning then go for it, but thinking more about that you can see that when it comes to money (trading in this case) there is nothing free and there will always be a catch!
of course unless we know more details about this, there is no way to give a correct opinion but this sounds more like a pump group offer kind of thing to me.
3688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin a year from now on: March 07, 2018, 04:00:18 PM
Since my last post of Feb 02 2018, Bitcoin price went up to $10,500, see [ur l=https://www.coinranker.net/cryptocurrency/bitcoin]chart

Not bad, but we still are not near the highest price of BTC which was $19,400. The chart shows this moment was on [ur l=https://www.coinranker.net/cryptocurrency/bitcoin]Dec 11 2017

you can also look at this the other way! price went up to current levels from $5900 so it is up nearly twice now.
or you can even zoom out more and see the rise in the bigger picture meaning for example last year price was near $2000 around the same time and now it is 5 times more than that!

also there are far better websites to look at bitcoin charts than the links you are posting here!
3689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you view the Crypto space this year 2018? on: March 07, 2018, 03:48:46 PM
There are some good reasons to believe 2018 is going to be an even greater year than its passed years. But sometimes checking the coinmarketcap everyday someone will be discouraged because of the red colors we see. Even Bitcoin going up and down, And has not cross $12k.
So what is you opinion about Crypto Space this year 2018 particularly Bitcoin?

if you want to see what price is and nothing else, you go check coinmarketcap.com or any site like that but when you want to see how the market has changed and whether it is rising or falling or else you go and check the charts instead. looking at the price and the percentage they offer in front of it is very misleading.
looking at the charts you can see that the performance was not that bad actually. price is rising towards $12k and the drops are getting smaller and smaller each time which is a good sign.

what i think of 2018 is that it may not be the same as 2017 because it was really a unique thing but at the same time i think we can expect a nice rise this year too because the big dump already happened and the recovery is strong so unless something bad happens, i don't expect any weird movements.
3690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin behavior during a recession on: March 07, 2018, 03:37:39 PM
bitcoin has always been an additional option for investment, a good investment too for that matter. but it was never seen that way by everyone. in the early years there were fewer people thinking this way but i do believe that ever since 2017 bitcoin is widely considered a legit investment just like gold and other things.

with that said during any kind of economic recession people may turn to bitcoin even more and invest in it and that means a big rise could potentially happen because of injections of a lot of money in the market.
3691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Opportunity to sell for bitcoin on: March 07, 2018, 03:26:21 PM
i have always said that the best way to get bitcoin is to earn it through different ways instead of buying it. it can simply be your job, or like what OP is talking about by selling stuff for bitcoin.
specifically when you are already investing in bitcoin and want to increase your investment it is a good idea to sell something and turn that "thing" into "bitcoin" easily. this can even give you a good opportunity to get new customers where you didn't have otherwise.
3692  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Altcoin/Bitcoin ratio on: March 05, 2018, 05:06:55 PM
Why does volatility/change of bitcoin differ from big altcoins like ethereum?

because you are not looking at the correct picture here and your numbers are also wrong. for example in Feb 10 alone ETH price went down from $914 to $830 (-9%).
also you took some arbitrary dates. for example why not look at prices from January till now? ETH drop from $1430 to $850 (-40%).

you see altcoins are MORE volatile if not the same.

but nevertheless, if we look back to the last 2 weeks , we see ethereum remained almost constant in value (versus $$) ,
but bitcoin is soaring up like crazy (and steadily  Huh ).

not really.
in past two weeks ETH has gone from $976 down to $794 and then up to $850 again. that is a HUGE volatility and remember that percentage of change is important not amount. from $2 down to $1 is 50% drop so is drop from $10000 to $5000

and bitcoin is not soaring either. it is mostly sideways. it is stuck behind the $12k resistance and goes up and down until it breaks it
3693  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Exchange accounts on: March 05, 2018, 04:55:41 PM
as someone who has been bitten by this issue and have some experience in the matter let me tell you that do not trust the exchanges that say they don't need verification. of course what they say is true but there is no guarantee that it remains true forever. they can change their rules over night like what bittrex did and block you out.
3694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bulls push BTC back above $12K in the next few hours? on: March 05, 2018, 04:40:06 PM
well the momentum is always there when testing the resistance and while below it, everything seems to be pointing into breaking it that time but as evidence shows the momentum is changing a lot so it is not possible to say based on that alone.
in fact anything that is said now is a pure guess and that is why most people are always waiting for the price to go over the lines before they invest again.
3695  Economy / Speculation / Re: People more likely to buy if price goes up or if price goes down on: March 05, 2018, 03:05:38 AM
I don't understand why people would buy at this price which is quite high for the last month or so.  Would people not pile in and buy if the price went down to 6k.  Then a huge amount of people would be buying.  Who is buying at this price?  Or could it be faked.

you are making a lot of wrong assumptions here.
first one is assuming that the price people are buying at is "quite high". obviously those who are buying don't share your views. and just because it is higher than a couple of months ago, it doesn't mean it is "high".

second is assuming that price would fall, specially assuming a big fall to $6k again. again just because it is higher now, it doesn't mean it will fall. it just means you missed the time when it was lower.

and actually this way of thinking is the reason why prices shoot up instead of having a nice slow rise like we have been seeing in the past month. people like you are not a small group. you are a lot of people! and thinking it will fall everyone of this group waits around to buy when it falls and when price never falls and instead rises higher and higher they finally give up waiting and rush in FOMO buying bitcoin.
3696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC market in the early morning of the week.5/3 on: March 05, 2018, 02:49:53 AM
a pretty good start this week as its price has risen 2.4%

since you are talking about bitcoin, and not an old asset with a huge market, then 2.4% is really nothing to be excited about. it is small market fluctuations that happen daily.
ans since the price that was reached was not anything major like the $12k, again the 2.4% change is nothing of any significance.
3697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT IF the GOVERNMENT wins over BITCOIN? on: March 05, 2018, 02:27:36 AM
I am into cryptocurrency because of freedom, I can't deny to myself that I have worries regarding this issue.

it is understandable to be worried about what the government is going to do about bitcoin and what kind of regulations they are going to put in place, but at the same time i believe that it doesn't have to be against the "freedom" either. regulations can be good too, they can help the growth, they can prevent a lot of crimes and besides we are living in a world of regulations already. it is not such a bad thing to have it for bitcoin too as long as they are not ridiculous ones.
3698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be AWARE. Mobile payment is coming our way. on: March 05, 2018, 02:13:37 AM
Can you track your daily expenses with the price changing every minute?

as a matter of fact the price doesn't change that much every day. bitcoin is volatile, that is true; but the huge volatility that you are thinking of which is price changing every minute is not happening that often.

as for the mobile payment, you can do that right now. there are lots of mobile wallets out there which are pretty good too. and with Lightning Network we will be able to do it a lot more efficiently in near future.
3699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do more and more people use bitcoin instead of classic bitcoin? on: March 05, 2018, 02:06:09 AM
just because some exchanges added BCH to their platform it doesn't mean there is more usage for it. it just means it is getting pumped and dumped more like a lot of other altcoins.

Why do many users choose Bitcoin cash?

why do YOU think it is chosen by users or used more?
and remember to check their empty blocks which has only a couple of transactions in them!

I think the following reasons:
Better security
Improved scalability
Scarcity of supply
Improved confirmation time
Lower cost

the only thing that BCH changed was the blocksize. and the only thing that increasing blocksize does is that it "improves scaling by a little". the rest of the things you mentioned are either wrong or is the same with bitcoin like the supply.
3700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to Bitcoin if Exchanges pairs every Cryptos directly to Fiat? on: March 03, 2018, 03:16:57 PM
if you take a look at the different markets you can see that has already happened. there are fiat markets such as USD and EUR,... for multiple altcoins. for example there are LTC/USD markets out there on a lot of major exchanges.
if you also check the volume of these markets they usually are lower than their counterparts (eg LTC/USD vol < LTC/BTC vol most of the times).

in short, this is not just "by chance" that there are not fiat markets for all altcoins. so what you are asking will never happen. and when it happens it has no effect on bitcoin. and the reason is simple, people who invest in altcoins are doing it to make more bitcoin. they didn't buy bitcoin to invest in altcoins, instead they bought bitcoin to have bitcoin now they want to invest that bitcoin and make profit on it. in other word the demand for bitcoin is not going anywhere even if exchanges made new pairs with fiat.
Presently, most demands for Bitcoin comes from its use as a link between Fiat and Altcoins. I am advocating that we should envisage a time when fiat can be traded directly with altcoins, we need a platform where Bitcoin will be independent of Altcoins and will still be highly demanded.

and it am saying even if that happens most people would still buy bitcoin and use that to buy (invest in) altcoins so that "link" that you are talking about is not going to be broken because of the reasons i said above.

it is not bitcoin, it is not lack of these markets, it is not the "link",... instead it is the altcoins themselves. the altcoin market is treated as Penny Stocks and it is not taken seriously.
