No, Terracoin is not dead. Right now it's *crazy* slow which was due to an upgrade where the way the difficulty was calculated was changed so that it didn't fluctuate so rapidly. Some thought this idea was good (I didn't personally- I think fast difficulty adjustments are the way to go) and it was changed.
Well now of course we see the result of that- we're stuck waiting around for an insanely high difficulty to drop. Not so genius after all.
What we need is to fix the difficulty adjustment so we prevent the exploit Sunny King pointed out while also preventing slowing the chain to a standstill because of having to churn through such a high difficulty.
A message has already been sent to the Dev's so we'll see how they sort it out.
In the mean time- pump and dumpers, there are still plenty of other Alt-Coins to try and make a fortune on so have at it.
Try and thing it though a bit more next time or stick to your guns about what you think is right....or its not going to look good also don't release any information about an exploit even existing, only if someone else releases then you can say yeah we knew and fixed that x years ago!!!!

THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE
Edit
I suspect BTCE opened deliberately knowing VRC was down.

Well it's the massive difficulty minus miners. I preferred it the fast difficulty cycle, I think we should go back to the old way of doing it.
EDIT: It will settle soon enough, but I think we should go back to the faster difficulty cycle.
THIS NEEDS TO BE SORTED THIS OUT THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN ONE CRACK AT IT AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE GOTTEN WORSE

LOAD OF CRAP BELLOW If you are thinking of signing up to Vircurex to trade PPC and TRC and someone has given you a URL like this: https://vircurex.com/welcome/index?referral_id=179-4876Please be away that it is their personal referral code from Vircurex. It gives you discounts on trades and gives them a % of each trade you make. Below is my code, Vircurex support have given me permission to post it here, if you us it you will get discounts on your trades for a year and I will get a % of each trade you make for a year. https://vircurex.com/welcome/index?referral_id=179-4876This is what their technical support says: Referrals Recommend Vircurex to others. Have them sign up using your personal referral code and • Allow them to get a discount on all their trading activities • Receive part of the fees that we charge on all trading activities they are participating in, this covers trades as well as loans. Excluded are fees charged for bank transfer’s as the exchange is passing these fees through to the bank, hence not making any earnings on these. So, now you know and if you're happy with this, feel free to click someone's link. Else you can sign up to Vircurex here: https://vircurex.com/welcome/register?locale=en

Most people are voting CPU, in a fair manner it's pretty nice, since everybody would be able to mine a reasonable price, but how to avoid botnets? Any idea?
I guess we could gear mining towards "high end" CPUs, but that just leaves people with older computers out of mining. If we go with what I proposed (coin generation is PoW, but blocks are purely minted through PoS), then botnets will not be able to 51%. I take a different view we should go for low end and specifically mobile platforms and PARTICUALLY ARM PROCESSORS

Also can i just confirm as it been a number of months since i setup my account on TRC and PPC on your exchanges.... I take itthat the emergency withdraw addys were required for both BTC and the altcoin upon registration? I'll probably just wait for automatic withdraws if thatthe case as i'm off for a week as of today and access to wallets not going to be as easy, but don't want funds to get lost in the shutdown.
Yes, there was an address for both registered. For my users that don't have an emergency address I'll leave something up to enable them to withdraw their coins. I just did a run through of the PPC, TRC and LTC exchanges to make sure the hot wallets are topped up. Don't panic if the withdraw doesn't go through, the hot wallet may have dropped low and I'll top it up. The exchanges for PPC and TRC are staying open???

How much premine was in the SpamCoin I mean ByteCoin
anyone know?
EDIT it seems
the premine was kinda "hidden"....
what I heard was that reward for first 1000 blocks was 5000, then 500, then settleing down to 50... no one except the developers got in on the early early coins i believe... but i'm going off memory here and don't have time to find posts atm, but it in the Bytecoin main thread
AND
there was the time to react to premine
