What's that platform that has been directed to you? I've read stories bout' these "platforms" being suggested by their friends but they've ended up being scammed by that platform because they're likely a scam platform, a ponzi or so.
By platform he meant bitcointalk.

I need to learn more about crypto and pushing myself has been very tasking with a congested schedule. I am sure there are others with same constraints here and I'm asking, how do you guys go about archiving this.
I can fully understand why you feel swamped and not having enough time on your hands. Thing is, signal to noise ratio in the crypto sphere is very low due high amount of altcoins and new trends (ICO, DeFi, NFT) that constantly keep popping out so newbies often get lost in all this. Add on that all the stories how someone got rich overnight via xyz altcoin and no wonder that people get lost, not knowing how and where to start. What I would suggest you is to ignore all of that and strictly focus on Bitcoin, both time-wise and investment wise and you will see that situation is not as bad as you might have thought.

Your friend definitely did a good thing by sending you here as you probably won't find a better to place to learn about Bitcoin than this forum. Good starting point is fillippone's 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin.
3702  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reaches maximum, target $80K BTC on: March 30, 2022, 09:13:53 AM
And here we go again; BTC goes up a little bit and we get bunch of these  "experts" pulling out numbers out of their asses, who where of course nowhere to be found when it was hovering around 35-40k.

In my personal opinion I see it as a good time to invest a good amount in BTC and leave them a few months to mature, what do you think?
The best time to buy Bitcoin was yesterday, and the 2nd best is today. Unless you  know what you are doing (and judging by the topic you opened I don't think you do) I would suggest you to stop timing the market and instead use DCA method, or simply buy when you can. If you try to time the market and buy Bitcoin with the intention to hold it for only couple of months you may end up buying high and selling low, like many newbies.

Just last year we have one prediction modeling that is being used by a lot of influencers and saying that $100k is going to be touch in December 2021. But the opposite happen, so we should know the drill by now. Never trust anyone specially this so called experts.
I guess you mean PlanB's Stock to flow model? While I still like his work, he was also guilty of being a little bit too cocky. All these models and predictions are fine and dandy, but when you set it up in your head that BTC is here to stay and that short term price (and for me short term is 1-2 years) doesn't mean much, it becomes that much easier. I done that 4-5 years ago and to paraphrase the title of a very well known movie (that is very relevant these days), I stopped worrying and learned how to love Bitcoin.

3704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How secured is fingerprint lock on wallet? on: March 29, 2022, 12:00:16 PM
I don't know why too many people didn't believe the fingerprint technology, it has been widely applied in all aspects and security, If that technology has not safe, no one is developing it anymore. it's the same as a PIN or Password, it also depends on how much care you protect.
I don't think that its the same as a PIN or password protection. While you can make it much harder or almost impossible for thieves to penetrate your phone/wallet by using a proper password, you can't do anything about your fingerprint. Phone scans it and that's about it, there's no way for you to make it more sophisticated and there lies the problem.

In crypto wallets, the fingerprint function is only to provide speed for transactions carried out without having to manually use a PIN
That's not necessarily true. For example, if you enable biometrics in some mobile phone wallets like Blockchain, it automatically offers it as way to log in into wallet meaning you just made it less secure.
3705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: March 29, 2022, 11:09:13 AM
They copy/pasted Batman slapping Robin meme. So this is not a new meme template Cheesy If I wasnt that lazy, I would have added text from Oscar into their speech bubbles Cheesy
Yeah I know about that template but that's not the one I was referring to. This is one the memes using the new one Cheesy

This was stages, because who would slap an opponent, when he talks bad about your wife? Straight punch, 1-2 combo or overhand is an answer in such situation. Not slapping.
Slapping a man is even more disrespectful than a straight punch. Also, real life fight looks nothing like a scene from a Hollywood movie, majority of people don't even know hot to throw a proper punch, let alone combos.

While actors are ready to do just about anything to get extra attention (Jussie Smollet is perfect example) I don't think that this was staged. Physical violence + cursing while we know how prune Hollywood has become? I don't think that Will Smith and Chris Rock were that stupid. Will Smith's erratic behavior after that just confirms that something was off the other night.
3706  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple Calculation on: March 28, 2022, 07:27:31 PM
It's simple really: based on the numbers that you provided, you would profit 5.54% or $5.54 if you invest $100. Whats the number that you are getting?
3707  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 28, 2022, 03:24:14 PM
So, I contacted CriptoDebit.com via Telegram (@criptodebit) and they answered basically immediately so kudos for that, but unfortunately I didn't get clear answers to all of my questions.

First of, they didn't want to explain how come are they offering debit cards without KYC when no other competitors like Wirex, Coinbase, Binance, Crypto.com can offer that, to which they didn't have an answer. Well, they did say that they are able to do it because "they given six figures deposit to the bank" which doesn't make much sense as I am sure that all those crypto debit cards issuers wouldn't have an issue depositing that amount of money if it means no KYC. Regarding the transactions fees when buying something, they said its 0 so at least one positive news.

@CriptoDebit.com people here tend to be more diligent and careful than your average user so you have to be prepared for some tough questions and people doubting your legitimacy. If you want to have any success here I suggest that you keep your cool.

Will smith punch Chris Rock right on Oscars.
When I read the news I thought it was a stunt to increase the ratings, but the more I watch and read about it the more I think that Will hit Chris Rock for real. This has to be probably the most bizarre Oscar thing I ever saw. The thing that really baffles me is how so many actors reacted to the incident by saying "oh he is from Philly, they are emotional ppl" or something along those lines, like wtf. I wonder what would happen if someone else hit Chris, someone like Mel Gibson who already has a  bad rep.

Looking from a bright side, at least we got a new meme template Cheesy

I didn't watch and I didn't place bet in Oscar awards but I heard what happened to Chris Rock and Will Smith, both of them are wrong. Chris Rock shouldn't make jokes about Smith's wife and Smith shouldn't hit him on a live TV and in front of other people he can just talk with him after that like a gentlemen.
This was entirely Will Smith's fault. Its a common practice on these awards to make fun of actors and they should be able to control themselves and if you think that what Chris Rock said was harsh, you might wanna check Ricky Gervais act while hosting Golden Globes.

Personally, don't "like" that Apple, Netflix et cetera are taking over but few people liked video taking over radio. Got to welcome change, right?
I am one of those that don't mind seeing streaming movies getting awards, even though some (like Spielberg) argued that they should really be seen as a TV production, meaning they don't meet Oscar requirements of movie being played in cinema in order to be nominated. But then streaming companies sorted that by having movies being played in LA cinema for at least a week to meet that req.

As much as I love cinema and go at least once or twice per month, I think it's impossible to fight the trends considering billions of dollars that Netlix, Amazon, Apple and others are spending each year on production.

Amen on finding even 2 hours uninterrupted, for me this means very late at night for complete peace and quiet, but it also means my mind's operating at exhausted capacity. Been a real long time since could watch a film properly and into it. I definitely hope people view sci-fi different after Dune's massive performance here (but as much as I liked it, I still thought it was such an incomplete film, I guess star power and effects carried Dune here).
Movies lasting longer and longer has been ongoing trend for some time now. I don't mind character driven movies to last a little bit longer or some epic/history movie, but now we have shallow stuff like superhero movies lasting for two and a half-three hours and consisting  mostly of mindless action with no character development.

Regarding Dune, keep in mind that movie covered  only the first half of the book and sequel is coming next year so that's why you may feel its incomplete as it is. Unless by "incomplete" you mean that you miss something there. High budget (preferably HBO production) mini series would probably be the best format for something as complex as Dune, but its much easier to profit via movies.

Regarding the winners, Dune kicked asses in tehnical categories as expected and I must say that I am kinda disappointed that CODA won Best Picture award, even though I generally liked the movie. Thing is, I don't think that its a good thing for film industry that remake win a Best Picture Oscar as it may only encourage studios to make even more of those, like we are not already swamped with remakes, sequels and prequels.

3709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Long Term Holders - When Do You Plan To Cash Out? on: March 28, 2022, 07:06:12 AM
For those people who are long term holders of btc or any crypto, do you have a plan of when you would sell it?  I am talking about the coins you are holding long term and not trading or selling short term etc.  Such that if you have a set amount of btc or crypto where you are holding long term.
I had target prices several times in the past, but each time BTC reached it I realized that it worths to me much more than the current price was and set up a new one. Eventually I just stopped setting any goals and decided to enjoy the ride which so far proved to be an excellent decision.

While I do consider myself long term hodler as I hold for ~6 years now and would sell it all only in case of some emergency, I do spend part of my BTC at the regular basis because I think that its important to keep using it for what it was initially intended for.

If that person takes 1 million dollars and then go buy a stablecoin like usdt and stake it on nexo or blockfi or gemini and earn at least 8%... they would earn 80k-100k a year in passive income in that stablecoin which they could then immediately turn it to fiat and cash to their bank account.  That is more than enough to live on assuming you do not have crazy expenses.
I don't know about you but I wouldn't trust any centralized services with a few thousands of dollars, let alone one million. What's even worse, you would keep it in stablecoin that can be locked/freezed at the creator's whim. Combination of those things makes this tactic way more riskier than just keeping BTC in your own wallet and letting it do its thing. If someone wants to cash out and invest into something, real estate seems like a much safer choice anyway.

I love the fact that the altcoin I held in my portfolio is having the potential to do wonders this season. Am positive that it's going to give me thousands of dollars in profits in no short time. Am not in a hurry to withdraw, am just being calm trusting their price movement. Probably by next year, I will consider trading them. Bitcoin will then be the last thing to trade when it has reached her ATH of $100k as predicted by many
So many people got rekt by holding altcoins long term so if you don't wanna repeat their mistake you should consider cashing out and going into BTC; if not completely then at least part of it. Thing is, in the long run (and for altcoins 1 years is a very long time) BTC regularly outperforms altcoins, meaning its far more suitable for a long term hold you are talking about.
3710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How secured is fingerprint lock on wallet? on: March 28, 2022, 06:08:39 AM
If I use a fingerprint lock on my crypto wallet will this add more security to my wallet and recovery seed or just security over avoiding someone to see my wallet balance via operating my phone?
If you use it on top of the pin and password, then yes it will add one extra layer of security, but I wouldn't use it as a primary source of protection. I know it's more convenient and faster way to unlock the wallet or phone but the old school ways of protection (if you make a proper password which again is something that many fail) still beats the biometrics.

Beside using proper password, the best way to protect your crypto is by not having your mobile phone wallet as your main one where you keep majority or all of your crypto. It makes more sense to only use it as hot wallet and keeping there only the amounts you plan to spend in the next few days/weeks.
3711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: March 27, 2022, 04:29:04 PM
Was just commenting elsewhere that I thought Dog was a decent movie, but I just didn't feel like it was good enough to win best film (note that I haven't seen any of the other nominees except Dune).
Fair enough. I watched all nominees except Drive my Car which I plan to watch in the next couple if days (not easy to find 3 hours) and so far Dog and Dune are ahead of the others for me. While I liked Dog more, I wouldn't mind Dune getting an Oscar too just to remove that stigma around sci-fi movies never winning the Best Picture award.

Big, big fan of slow burn too -- very few action films make it in my all-time -- but I just thought there wasn't enough other than good acting to make this memorable for me. Probably also as I quickly guessed what the secret was so soon (though the ending I didn't foresee).
Same here, guessed the secret too as you could really "feel it", but my wife guessed the end as well and managed to spoil it for me as I really didn't see it coming.

Anyone else think a foreign film could do another surprise? I feel like predicting Oscars tend to be more about identifying trends.
Since I haven't seen Drive my Car yet its hard for me to say (another slow burner that I think I will like) but that one is not as hyped as Parasite was back in 2020 and even film's subject isn't something very attractive to the Academy which we all know is a very important thing. If I remember the odds correctly, Parasite was right behind 1917 so while it was a big surprise that foreign film won the Best Picture award, it wasn't a complete outsider like Drive my Car is. If it was up to me, non-English movie should have won the Oscar year before too as I still believe that Roma is a far superior movie and that Green Book won only because of it's subject. Regarding your 2nd sentence, I totally agree and it's been going like that for some time now.

3712  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 27, 2022, 12:38:45 PM
If I understand correctly this is only VIRTUAL master cards (not physical plastic cards), and you can't use them on ATM as far as I know. unless they invent some virtual ATM's  Cheesy

Ah yes you are right, that was a total brainfart, we are talking here about virtual cards. Cheesy

We need more explanation and asnwering some questions from CriptoDebit.
Yep, many questions about how this actually works and about potential issues. I see that they have telegram contact so in case he doesn't answer here soon I'll try to contact him that way. In his other thread OP wrote that they are live for only couple of days with several dozens of cards issued so far so I would be very careful with this.
3713  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 27, 2022, 11:47:03 AM
3. Of course, Mastercard knows about this program, otherwise we wouldn't be able to issue these cards. We are licensed issuers. (There are prepaid cards you can buy for cash, we just use crypto)
Can you please point me that program in which Mastercard offers debit cards without KYC requirement? It would be also good if you can provide some proof about licensed issuer. AFAIK, it's possible to get prepaid cards without documents or verification but you explicitly said on the website that your cards are not prepaid but legit debit cards. Or you consider them debit as user has to have account on your website, from which funds are spent?

I don't know how it's possible for this virtual card to work without KYC or sending any personal information, but withdrawing money from card using with Sepa, Wire Transfer and PayPal will still require KYC verification.
They do mention on their website that for PayPal, Sepa and Wire transfers you will have to go through KYC verification so I guess KYC-less withdraw  works only via ATM, if its available as I see no mention of that

This card service sounds very promising until you check the fees but I guess that's the price you have to pay if you want anonymity while using debit card. That is, if what they are claiming is true and this things works as advertised.
3714  Economy / Reputation / Re: Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements - Discussion. on: March 27, 2022, 09:45:03 AM
I just think that celebratory thread are good and so far such thread are allowed because they don't break the rules [if not too much] with free speech considerations in mind.
While these self-congratulatory threads maybe even had honest intentions at the beginning to sort of inspire new members that is not impossible to rank up after merit system introduction, over the years it mutated into merit-fishing ego trip. Everyone is still free to create those, as others are free to ridicule those that create one for every minuscule feat they achieve here.

It didn't take long for a thread to appear.
The senior member gang.
Facepalm.
Monkey see, monkey do. He is only doing this because he saw others showering similar threads with merit, so imho they as equally to blame as that those are actually opening them.

And if we do not respond to those topics, let alone send merits, this tradition will end.
We have an interesting situation that people here are rarely willing to call a spade a spade like OP did and instead just go with the flow and keep repeating what others are saying or doing. I've been on various forums for many years and never saw so many people patting each other on the back, unwilling to say what they really think and eventually creating herd mentality.

Anyway, good initiative, I hope it picks up.
3715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I handle this? on: March 27, 2022, 08:25:22 AM
First of all, I don't go around telling people that they should invest in crypto. My close family and friends know that I am into all this, but I never suggested them to invest if they didn't ask me about it first. And even when they asked me what to do, I told them all pros & cons and explained them that market is highly volatile and that they should be able to forget about that money for at least couple of years. Some of them I even talked out of investing as I knew that they would panic at the first sight of a correction, let alone bear market and they would end up selling with a loss.

One important thing; if they really want to invest tell them to stick to BTC only and explain them how risky is to invest in altcoins, especially for newbie that won't know when to sell and will probably end up as a bagholder.

3717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Portsmouth, Bitcoin City on: March 27, 2022, 07:24:27 AM
 In order for citizens to have more payment options, the city of Portsmouth, located in New Hampshire, allowed residents to cancel services with Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency;
Cancel services? I guess you meant pay services.

That article from Cointelegraph is not entirely correct when they mentioned that people of Portsmouth will be able to pay their bills with any cryptocurrency because it will be only possible via PayPal so if you wanted to pay directly from your own personal BTC wallet, tough luck. AFAIK, you can only buy/sell four cryptocurrencies on PayPal at the moment: BTC, LTC., ETH and BCH so you will be limited to those. Even though it's not a real crypto adoption in the full sense of the word, but it's still a small move forward.

“City customers who have cryptocurrency stored in their PayPal account can now make payments to the city using that cryptocurrency when they choose PayPal as their payment method,” she said in a memo to City Manager Karen Conard. “This new payment method has no impact on the city’s financial practices as the cryptocurrency is converted to U.S. currency by PayPal before it is sent to our payment processor.”

I don't see much point in getting rid of a good currency that appreciates, and keeping the shitty currency that depreciates, although there may be exceptions to this, such as people who get all or most of their income in Bitcoin, or people who own a lot of Bitcoin.
Keep in mind that being usable is what keeps Bitcoin to appreciate. True, Bitcoin shifted more towards being store of value but nevertheless I don't think it's a good idea to completely ignore its original purpose and use it to pay for something when you have a chance.

Rikafip i svi koji pratite serije i filmove, možda ste čuli ili gledali seriju The Cleaning Lady, koju je napravio Fox.
Nisam ni gledao ni cuo, bacit cu oko.

3719  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you share your key to your family? on: March 26, 2022, 08:27:06 AM
It's your family, if you don't trust them, who do you trust, and why would a person have one if that's the case? Your family can hurt you with or without Bitcoin.
I think that it's important to differentiate trusted persons and family members as those two things are not necessarily the same. While you can chose your wife, you can't chose the family you are born into and unfortunately some people are born into shitty ones where you can't trust anyone with your money.

If you think that way, you are in danger of being stabbed, poisoned, robbed and strangled all the time.
While certain level of caution is always good, people here are often too paranoid and not even willing to let their wives know about Bitcoin/seed phrases etc. If I couldn't trust my wife with something like that, I would seriously think about my own judgement and who I married.

With that being said, I shared my keys with two trusted family members that live separately, which is also something to think about as you don't wanna keep all your keys in the same place as bad stuff like fire can always happen.

I will make reputation of exvhanger down and also will hire soneone who will techically will fuck all the exchanger.
Are you even aware what it would cost you to attack something like exchange (that usually have good protection) via ddos or any other type of similar attack? Based on your comments, I seriously doubt.

But dont worry exchangers knows this they will be out of business if they start f around with customers
Some exchanges are screwing their customers for years yet they are still around. Take HitBTC, Yobit, P2PB2B, Coinsbit etc, all exchanges with horrible reputation and the long history of screwing up, yet somehow people still use them and their are in the business. Again, things are not as simple as portrayed them and that's why no one should keep their money on the exchange, even if its one of the biggest ones like Coinbase or Binance. They can take your money based on any bs reason they come up with and there is nothing you can do about it.
