I don't know what happens if you de-rank from Full member to member. Do you keep your avatar without an option to change/remove it or it's automatically removed.
There have been a few cases, and I believe that you keep it, but can't change it. I seem to remember there was a case where somebody deleted his avatar, and couldn't repace or restore it.

Is that referring to my comment?
No - apologies if my post was misunderstood. It refers to a criticism of me that was made by another legendary several days ago. It pissed me off at the time, as I thought I was helping the forum. Anyway, I've moved on from that, and I won't mention it again. I gave you an apology merit - do such things exist? If not, I hope I won't get into trouble for introducing yet another merit concept. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Now for a positive suggestion. How about everybody who has posted in this thread popping over to the beginners board, and adding a good reply to at least one of the threads there. If you can't find a thread that you like, then you can always start a new one.

I missed that dip - I was going to buy a few more Satoshi, but I was on the mobile, so I couldn't.
I'm exprecting it to drop again though before the real bull run.

I tend to visit the board every day if I can.
I might go back to starting threads again, despite being accused of fishing for merits by starting threads. That's a bit of an odd accusation to make about a Legendary merit source, but itdid make me stop and think about starting threads.

I'm managing to find a few posts to merit, but I'm still well under my target.
There are a couple of threads with all caps titles, and I'm ignoring those. In general, I fnd that capitalisation is a tool used by people who don't have much to say, or don't have any original thoughts.

Don't forget that fear is another emotion that can leave people open to scams.
|
|

Exactly my fears considering I myself am at a huge loss at the moment as my purchase price beats the current price hands down
You aren't making a real loss until you sell. I'm buying with a view to holding my coins until after 2020. This means that a price drop represents another chance to buy coins.

Sometimes I feel not to post anymore in that section because after a few minutes there is a high rank member who answers the question immediately. Dont want to spam ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) You aren't spamming if you are making meaningful posts. Also. it's useful if newcomers to the world of crypto reply - they can add a different perspective to the replies. Another problem is that very often people with a good technical knowledge forget that new members may not know the basics. If you don't understand one simple basic concept, it can be difficult to take advantage of the reply.

The only ones who want it to die are the ones who missed out. You aren't a failure if you didn't realise the potential in the early days, but you are if you can't see it now.

Hasn't Bitcoin dropped by 90% or so in the past just before a major bull run. The fundamentals still look good to me though. The movement does look a bit fishy, it seems to be coming down in steps, and that makes it look as if it is orchestrated.

I think the days of ICOs are over. We may see a few good ones start, but I suspect they will be rare. All the scams seem to hace triggered the call for regulation, and hopefully that will reduce the number of scams. I understand that more than 95% of the ones created so far have been rubbish and fraudulent.

I'm not really a fan of rap,but this is a nice catchy video, and one of the good ones.
I've given it a bump, because I thinkit needs a bit more exposure.

The price is still dropping, and I noticed that many earlier posts stated that "now" is the time to buy. The fact that following that advice means that you would have paid more, illustrates the benefit of price averaging. You can't tell when the price hits the bottom, so buy a few bits on the way down, and look at your average price when calculating your exposure.
The important thing is to do your own "due diligence" research, and don't trust "advice" from people like me who aren't professional advisers. If you are buying for a long term holding, then make sure you understand the fundamentals of Bitcoin, and its future role in the world economy.

Beginners is the new blood for the forum, and I agree that we should encourage good new members who post there. I haven't put the whole board on ignore, but I do add some members to my ignore list if they are spambies or a distraction. It looks as if I am going to have to spend today on the computer - Bitcoin has dropped again, and Theresa May - the UK's treasonous unicorn of a prime minister, is trying to give Gibraltar to the Spanish, So what I can do for the beginners board is to allocate 20 sMerits to reward good posters today, and I'll award them in ones and twos, so there should be a few new members who can profit from this. Also, there is no limit to the number of posts that a member can make to pick up sMerits. In fact if today is a really good day, I can double or treble the number of merits I can award. You know my guidelines guys - no spamming, plagiarism or misuse of quoting. I don't reward bounty of announcement threads either. Now lets see what I can find. Here is one post, and this illustrates the sensible use of quotes. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5075218.msg48205462#msg48205462

I see it has taken another dive, and I think it's time I returned to price averaging.
I can buy £100-£200 of Bitcoin right now. I don't want to buy more, because it still seems to have more downside potential.

Don't forget the ignore button as well guys. That is a great help to reduce blood pressure. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

There is more to helping new members than just giving them merit.

Sorry I haven't followed up on this. I'm watching the price at the moment.
I'm not sure which way the price is going to break, and I think it may have a bit further to drop over the next couple of days. so I wouldn't want to buy more than £100-£150 of Bitcoin right now.

I've started a variety of projects in the past, and recently I have been experimenting with a few crypto related ones. What I have found is that you don't really need any initial investment, and that growth is based on the efforts of the founders, and the early members and associates that they are able to attract.
What are you considering doing with any of the funds invested in your project(s).

I'd prefer it if the price didn't go up. I haven't filled my wallet yet.
