3721  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: I am floating an idea here a sidehack usb stick solo pool. on: September 09, 2015, 09:37:46 PM
Phil did you start the creation of the pool ??

no I need help with proxy as I never did one.  I do have many quality pc's in my house   that can do the work.  But my skill at setting up a proxy is basically 0.

So I can provide a pc and run it  I just need help to set the pc up.

or if we have a trusted person willing to do the proxy on their server that works.

you should see if kano will make a special port on his pool to do this sort of prop payout.

it might be worth expanding to not only sidehack sticks but also other outdated miners that wont find a block on their own and doesnt hash enough to clear the dust filters.

Wouldn't it more make sense for ck's solo pool to do it?

cks solo pool is set to mine to payout to the miners address who finds the block..
you need a front end that will take the payout and distribute it to the miners equally..

im not sure how complex it would be to change that.

I see but then we also need some sort of additional code to only allow registered user to mine with 1 stick per, or something. Basically phil could hand over accounts and allow a max of 10gh and there would be no complicated math to do, just split in x part for the x amount of users plugged in. Doesnt matter if someone is at 8 or 9 or 12 gh.

it shouldnt matter how many sticks or ghs people mine with.. it will actually help the pool because the payout phil is suggesting is split equally..

so say you have 1 8ghs stick and i put my s3 on it for 450 ghs. when or if the pool finds a block, we both get the same amount of btc.

Sure i guess you can just put a minimum instead of a maximum, hand over accounts to those with a txid of buying a sidehack stick or a picture with their name. Then if people want to donate hashrate, they might as well.
3722  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: September 09, 2015, 09:36:36 PM
That price is pretty tasty. I'd be inclined to even buy from the US at that price and have it shipped to Canada. But i see S3 kits being sold for 0.3 btc so it's probably worth still 60-80$ at this moment.

3725  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should Bitmain make a Q7? on: September 09, 2015, 09:29:15 PM
Just a matter of time before there is an S7+ I'm sure - they already have the infrastructure in place.
 I wonder if they'll offer "S7 -> S7+" upgrade "kits"?

I think they will sell additions, not exactly an upgrade kit. Basically you would just need to plug a S7+ on a S7's controller board. At the very least, it look like everything is set it place for that.

it looks like we are just a couple of diff increases from the s3s being useless with anyone over .08 cents /KWH power cost.

Good, i guess i can get my hand on some dirt cheap S3's just about now, then. Smiley
3728  Other / Meta / Re: Why do some users have green text in their trust and others (like me) have not? on: September 09, 2015, 09:21:55 PM
If the trust score is <0 it appears read.
For trust score >=0 but <5 it appears to be Black
For trust score >=5 but <15 it is light green.
For trust score >=15 it is Dark Green.

- trust and + trust are separate entity but yes. -1 +4 isint = 3 = green, its "-1 +4" and its orange.
3729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: September 09, 2015, 08:27:26 PM
I have bough one smart phone from some other guy although we met face to face but the payment was done through Bitcoin. This was my first ever physical good I bought few weeks ago.

That's good to hear that you bought smart phone using bitcoins, and that suggest that this the beginning of a new era, today you bought smart phone the day would come where we could buy even the vegetables using bitcoins and that would be the best day for us, as want that bitcoins should be accepted everywhere and especially for buying day to day stuffs.

With Bitcoin credit cards (like the one advertised in your signature), you should be able to spend BTC anywhere. Although it's not the same as using Bitcoins on their own  Sad

Its a debit card and indeed, but there's more shops i'm using atm that accept BTC than debit card, because of the whole "debit account is national bound" thing so it doesn't just "work out of the box".
3730  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 05:31:39 PM
And now looks like the S6 was "not offered"... so they kept it all to themselves? Tongue

Not offered = have chips + could make something S6 shaped + lets just wait. The S*even* has to clear rack space of something earlier to be sold in any volume, but there wasn't enough of an improvement to do that.

They skipped the S6 generation in lue of the S7, the construction / maintenance and shipping costs of the S7 are more economical than the larger rack mountable / form factored units, such as the S4 / S4+ / S2 generation.  The may or may not bring this form factor back in the S8 as it is not nearly as economical for bitmani

Economical isin't much of a importance with them when they just charge the premium to the client anyways. Look at the price/gh of the S7. What more is there to say?
3731  Other / Meta / Re: Why do some users have green text in their trust and others (like me) have not? on: September 09, 2015, 02:07:35 AM
Been wondering this for a while.

I've seen orange negative with black positive at the same time and wondered why it wasn't just red??

Because someone can have trusted trust rating while having received negative trust as well. The color used for that is orange instead of the red text and you won't see the red "Trade with extreme caution!" either.
3732  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 02:03:53 AM
Oh wow i missed it the part where it said it came with a BM1384. What a waste! O.o

Q:Will AntRouter waste energy?
A:Router’s rated power is only 2W, Its consumption is negligible.

3733  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power supply on: September 09, 2015, 02:00:38 AM
Personally i would probably go with something like 2x evga 1000 on one 15a 120v breaker. Flip the power bar switch, both turn on at same time, voltage should be the same (mines are very stable). Plenty of cables.

Great efficiency, the draw put them at optimal load. Meh. A bit expensive but quiet and reliable, 10 years warranty.

I think Bitmain said if they arent powered at the same time, the controller need to be powered last. (Probably because the board don't have any draw until the controller is on).

Only way I would mix is if you are not mixing on hasing boards.   If you power entire hashing board from one then yes... should be ok.

But if you do mix PSU's on same hashing board it will void warranty if bitmain catches you.

I get what you mean, indeed any sort of mixing PSU for a single board is a big nono. Warranty aside, if they have different voltage, i think it can fuck things up.

But that remind me that there's a uneven amount of boards, so you could go with one 1000/1300 and one 750, powering 2 board on the 1000 and 1 board + controller on the 750. At this rate you might as well get a 1600 and do;

3x 6pin + 6+2pin cables, 1 cable (two connector) per board
and 3x 6pin cables , 1 per board
This would fill the 6 of the 9 VGA/PCI-e sockets in the PSU and probably balance the load fine in the cables i think.

One more 6pin for the controller. 7/9 VGA used, you still have some spare room.

The 1600w has a wooping 9 VGA connector and apparently come with 9x 8pin (6+2) and 5x 6pin. Thats a huge amount of cables, i'm impressed.
They should be 16AWG, since the ones on all my G2 are.

Might be worth considering forking over the 300$ for the PSU, maybe. IF you don't already have the 750-1300s on hand anyways.
3734  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 01:16:45 AM
Meh. (Speculating)It seem like its true purpose is going to let you point your miners to your router and it will act as a proxy of sort. Of course forcing the hashpower to antpool. Otherwise i don't see why the device's hash would be obligatory tied to your Ant/Bitmain account.

What better excuse than this to gather more TX fees from mined blocks?
3735  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC MINING - Newest hardware and the future on: September 09, 2015, 12:16:33 AM
In my opinion there is bad news & bad news. The bad news is that things are not good at the moment for home miners. Bitmain is the only game in town and their latest releases, although good, are expensive and very unlikely to ROI with the way difficulty is increasing and with halving coming up fast. The other bad news is that the more time that passes the worse things are going to get.  Sad

Rich

I think home mining will be profitable again only if Bitcoin price will skyrocket, am I wrong? Smiley

If you have very cheap electricity, home mining is fairly profitable. If you have high electricity cost (around 0.1/kWh). It's going to be hard, with the S7 being so expensive.
3736  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 12:11:44 AM
What I want to know is how they plan to cool the chip in the router.  Unless there is a little fan or a big heatsink the BM1384 will have to run pretty low end.

I couldn't say what it would cost but it should be cheaper to add something in a corner of an existing board than to make a completely stand alone board.  Now, what they'll sell it for is another story, given their recent market dominance.

It's a much better idea than the bitfury lightbulb because routers already have internet connections.  The lightbulb is just comical because you're adding complex, low volt DC electronics to a high volt AC connection.  Thus you have to have an integrated PSU which adds a lot to the cost, is probably worse on efficiency, and there's still no reason to have an internet connection in your light socket.  Bitmain's chip in a router makes sense, at least conceptually.

Well the rated power of the router is 2W. So, very little power to the chip. At the very least it would need to be a BM1385 chip. Anyways not much cooling required. It also mean not much hashrate possible.
3737  Other / Meta / Re: Why do some users have green text in their trust and others (like me) have not? on: September 09, 2015, 12:07:33 AM
Because its not high enough to be turned green. It depend on how much trust you have.
3738  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: September 08, 2015, 11:34:19 PM
I have a unit on hand now. What is the latest firmware that allow voltage control? I'd want to try that on Kanopool. See if i can get good hashrate and good efficiency.

7 BTC Garden V2's
4 SP35's
4 S3's
2 KNC November's 5 ports
1 KNC November 4 port

On this pool? You're sure throwing a big lot of hardware and electricity at a lottery. ^_^"

Well when you have someone else paying for the electricity, its not so much of a gamble.  We are bringing up a mining farm Smiley
Lots of hardware left to purchase.. 10 grand alone last week....
And yes, this pool...

Thats still money upfront for the hardware but yeah i guess the ongoing expenses feel like a moot point if someone else pay for it Smiley
3740  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Hardware or Scam on: September 08, 2015, 11:06:51 PM
I will go with the majority on this and say it is a scam.
Https is a secure way to make sure a company is legit because they pay hundreds of dollars($600+ from what I remember) to obtain that status every year.

You can get a SSL certificate for very cheap. It's really not a good filter criteria for actually trusting a website. Of course NOT having it is certainty a criteria for NOT trusting it.
