3721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to turn off PoW mining on: April 17, 2017, 12:46:34 PM
There hasn't been a single system that it's worth replacing PoW with since the invention of Bitcoin. All those other alternative such as PoS, and the hybrid ones are just try hard ones. PoW is still the most solid self regulating system, satoshi was a true genius and it shows as time goes by and no one can come up with a better idea to secure a blockchain.

I think that bitcoin needs POS instead of POW so that we can empower bitcoin holders instead of feeding the greedy miners and pools who are always in conflict to control bitcoin.  If we have the access to POS then even holding bitcoins at our bitcoin wallet we are being empowered to do some staking. That way the bitcoin holders are contributing to the bitcoin network instead of the greedy miners.
3722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Satoshi Nakamoto’s land leading asians to Bitcoin mass adoption? on: April 17, 2017, 12:39:39 PM
With the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin in Japan and the subsequent acceptance of the cryptocurrency by several Japanese stores, Bitcoin has responded by its most recent surge in price, rising significantly above the $1,200 mark in the process.

Some even believe that governments are driving demand in Bitcoin whether they know it or not.

For instance, China and India represent a significant portion of the world's population and each has a rapidly growing middle and wealthy classes. Both of these countries are also experiencing turmoil with government imposed capital controls, so the importance of Bitcoin is much more apparent to its citizens as opposed to North America, for example.

On the other hand, India has less trust for banks than many other nations so some are experimenting with Bitcoin instead. In addition to this, Japan has chosen to regulate Bitcoin exchanges which means traditional financial instructions are now able to offer Bitcoin to their clients bringing in more demand. Whereas, China has decided to implant tougher regulations on Chinese exchanges driving a huge spike in the peer to peer Bitcoin market in China and eventually more trust in the exchanges when they allow withdrawals again.

Another important factor identified for the Asian dominance in Bitcoin is the fact that Asian countries, Japan, in particular, have always been ahead of the curve with mainstream adoption of new technology.

Cell phones, mobile gaming and mobile payments all gained popularity in Asia years before Europe and the US. It seems that Bitcoin is following a similar trajectory.

Do you agree that Japan is leading Bitcoin mass adoption?

Japan is moving positively in that direction and it will only needs a few years before bitcoin will be mass adopted by the Japanese People. But the bitcoin adoption will not be as a currency but as a commodity with a value capable of being used as a financial form of payment. But even though bitcoin is not treated as a currency as long as the masses in Japan are using it then that is still a good news to bitcoin and to the community.
3723  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of Pegged Cryptocurrency on: April 17, 2017, 12:12:17 PM
1. How important is the role that cryptocurrencies like Tether.to will play in the blockchain economy.
2. How is it possible to build real business that rely on a stable trading environment to make profit.
3. Is everyone going to create their own pegged token in the future.
3. Would you trade your bitcoin into a pegged token if you were guaranteed 5% every 30 days

I'm very interested in your feed back.

Even at this point of time we are trading our bitcoins into other altcoins and exchange them back to bitcoin when their price is high. The same way if there are tokens that will guarantee 5% interest on our investment then possibly I will place some of my bitcoins into it. But of course we must also be careful so that is why we must not also place all our bitcoin into that one investment alone to reduce the risk.
3724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any bank accept Bitcoin? on: April 17, 2017, 12:09:20 PM
I think it would be very difficult for banks to accept bitcoin, because basically, the bank is a government program that is legal. bitcoin does not include transaction or investment instrument that is legal or illegal. but, I think it would be good if there are banks that accept bitcoin, because it will be easy access for users bitcoin, to turn Fiat into a bitcoin.

In my thinking, we all have no clear answers that banks accept bitcoins or not. Because someday ago, my friend told me that in some countries some banks accept bitcoins. But i am not sure it is true or not, also if it is happening than it is good for bitcoin's users.

It is not yet confirmed nor validated that those claims that the banks accepts bitcoin. In my opinion those things will occur many years from now since  at this point of time the financial banking system is not yet ready for bitcoin. Instead they are now studying blockchain technology and the way to integrate bitcoin into their system rather than focusing on bitcoin.
3725  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Syria has declared about the poisoning of hundreds of people on: April 15, 2017, 01:48:28 PM
The command of the Syrian army of Bashar al-Assad said that the aircraft the U.S.-led coalition attacked the warehouse of the "Islamic state", where he kept poisonous substances, killing hundreds of people. It is reported that the airstrike was inflicted on Wednesday near the city of Deir ez-Zor. It destroyed a large number of terrorists, including foreign mercenaries.
"However, after the bombing of the warehouse went up yellow smoke. This suggests that it held stocks of toxic substances", - said in a statement.
It is also reported that as a result of air strikes a fierce fire broke out and that the result of a blow was the death of hundreds of people, including a large number of civilians caused by the inhalation of toxic fumes".
The statement of the Syrian Agency also spread by Russian media, but no confirmation of this information from other sources yet. It seems to me that someone is trying to conceal the crime. The question is who?

If that is true and correct then the United States of America should give assistance to the family of the victims who died from poisoning. Though America may have made decisions to stop terrorism but the collateral damage was also high since there are many people who are being affected by the poisonous gas leak. The event was uncontrollable but since the US caused it they have a moral and social obligation towards the victims.
3726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you stop someone forcing you to hand over your private key and taking all on: April 15, 2017, 01:44:21 PM
One thing I have thought about is that with bitcoin, someone could force you to hand over your private key. What sort of safeguards are there to prevent this happening, or to prevent them taking everything in that wallet?
One thing one can do is leave Bitcoins on an exchange that will only allow you to withdraw $1000 worth per day, but then you run the risk of the exchange being hacked....what are the other options?

If you are worried by those kind of things the best way to get rid of all of those that are playing with your mind is to convert your bitcoin into fiat currency and deposit it in your banks that way your funds will be much safer. If you will do it you can sleep well in the evening without even thinking of what will happen to your private keys since you already have converted all your bitcoins into cash.
3727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / North Korea, the new age pirate that targets bitcoin on: April 15, 2017, 03:31:05 AM
https://news.bitcoin.com/north-korea-hackers-stole-bitcoin-2013-2015/

North Korea is the new age pirate and they are not after gold but they are after bitcoin. According to this article North Korea has successfully hacked bitcoin into their hands starting 2013 to 2015. It was also estimated that they have harvested 100 million yuan worth of bitcoin every month from hacking. The community must not be silent against it rather there must be some measures to be done so to avoid this unwanted hacking incidents.
3728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Series and films in which Bitcoin appears (Collection Thread) on: April 15, 2017, 03:23:59 AM
It was featured on the series Blindspot quite a few times.

Yeah, in the episode of Blindspot bitcoin is mentioned several times because it is used by the criminals. In the film series MacGayver bitcoin is also mentioned, but which episode I forgot. Thank you

It is nice that bitcoin was mentioned in films and many people will hear it and will be curious as to what bitcoin is. But the problem lies on the negative connotation on bitcoin that film has. If it has been linked to criminal activities then the movie goers who will watch that movie will believe that bitcoin is a money of the criminal and there is nothing good in using it.
3729  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin defeats the Chinese government on: April 15, 2017, 03:21:08 AM
I'm still not familiar with how most investments work but if they're earning less from it then that's a good thing. I'd understand that shorting is an investment strategy some individuals use but if the government does engage in it would really be unfair since they have larger influence in how things are run that it almost seem unethical.
very very unethical! I find out that any time the price of bitcoin  make an attempt to be more than the price of gold the people bank of china will come up with they usual trick of regulations of the big exchangers like okcoin, btcc and others and the arm is to create panic  were people will sell off they position. But they have be cut to their size.
If that is true then that maneuver is not going to work for long there is a reason there are not fixed rates between currency's, you can only throw so much money at something before reality hits and show us reality, if people think bitcoin is more valuable than gold then at some point it is going to show in the price whether you like it or not.

Bitcoin will not increase in value not because it is much more valuable than gold but rather it will increase in value because of its usability. When states are adopting bitcoin they are projecting bitcoin to be used as a form of payment rather than as an investment. In this sense bitcoin having this uses will be attracting more users and the demand from them will contribute to another spike in bitcoins value.
3730  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If you believe we should kill all Muslims... on: April 15, 2017, 03:17:40 AM
What classes as a "Muslim" to some people is unusual as well.

Terrorist groups like ISIS's main victims are Muslims, they carry out most of their attacks in their own countries on Muslims who disagree with them.  Also, it's a very different cult to other Muslims, because people who have never been Muslims often go and join ISIS after supposedly "converting".

Let us put it this way if the world declares a war on all Muslims then there will be a world war since muslims are scattered all around the globe. If you want to execute all muslims then your must be prepared for an all out attack coming from them. Unlike them the Westerners arent all trained for battle or ready to fight but majority of muslims are ready to kill and are not even afraid to die and will volunteer a suicide attack against their enemies.

What we need is world peace and not war since if you wanted it that way all of us will suffer both muslims and non-muslims.
3731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Donald Trump Tank Bitcoin with a simple tweet? on: April 15, 2017, 03:13:26 AM

Just like he spoke yesterday publicly about the dollar, and tanked the index.

Donald Trump can tank bitcoin or influence the flow of bitcoins market with just his words. Investors especially traders are very sensitive to such things as speech coming from Roger Ver, Jihan Wu and how much more if Trump will speak a promising statement on the use of bitcoin then you will see a pump on bitcoins price. It could be a temporary effect but there will be a pump on the price.
3732  Economy / Economics / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon? on: April 15, 2017, 03:10:07 AM
I'm not sure, bitcoin will not be able to replace the dollar as a currency. Moreover, the dollar is used in nearly all countries in the world. While bitcoin, in some countries rejected ..

Yes. You are right, the governments of some countries are very hostile to bitcoins. But I want to believe that they will change their attitude to the cryptocurrency. But the fact that bitcoin will replace the dollar is still too early to say
i think that it is also a good news that the government is now changing their attitude about bitcoin, they have now start thinking about bitcoin how to turn bitcoin as legal currency and hope that very soon we are going to hear the new about the news that government have consider bitcoin as legal currency of the world and now people can use bitcoin as legal currency.

Even with the positive view of other country to bitcoin, it will never replace  dollar anytime soon. Even the etf were not approved by SEC, what more being an official currency of one country.  Bitcoin is always best being an alternative currency to USD.

Well, you are right about that. I mean, people already use dollar currency since long time ago and bitcoin is not popular as dollar. I think it's hard for bitcoin to replace dollar, people need to know what and how is bitcoin works to get accepted by people and bitcoin don't have a physical unit like paper or coin.

It is not just hard but impossible to happen. Within its lifetime bitcoin could not replace dollars or any of the fiat currency. The basic reason is that the government will not allow it since bitcoin is out of their control and the second is that even if they will adopt bitcoins the total number of bitcoins in the circulation cannot cope up with the actual number of fiat currency in the entire world in circulation.
3733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is responsible for less than 1% of Overstock's revenue on: April 15, 2017, 02:57:18 AM
The CEO of Overstock looks back at their decision to add bitcoin as a payment method in their online store in 2014:

http://www.coindesk.com/into-the-war-room-overstock-looks-back-on-bitcoin-embrace/

But despite all the excitement that move generated he had this to say:

Quote
While bitcoin is responsible for less than 1% of our annual revenue, our experience integrating it with our website allowed us to understand the true potential of blockchain technology.

Obviously he is really excited by blockchain tech etc etc etc - but the standout for me was that despite all the publicity and the hype, less than 1% of their revenue is paid for using bitcoin.

At this rate this coin is never going to be used as a currency - the community is too small, and only a fraction of that community is willing to spend bitcoin as opposed to hoarding/saving it.

If you compared bitcoin to US dollars and paypal it is very young at age and has a long way to go until it can fully realized its potential. If we thinkg that bitcoins potential could be realized instantly then we are having a huge mistake since in order for this currency to be accepted by the masses we will need more time and wait for the natural flow of time until such day that bitcoin will finally be a full pledged currency.
3734  Economy / Economics / Re: Chandler Guo : "Bitcoin could reach 1 million dollar" on: April 15, 2017, 02:53:34 AM
This is possible for bitcoin to reach $1,000,000 price because we can just see as of now that a lot of different good things are happening just like adoptions and even getting more popularity for bitcoin and that what will be the fuel for our rocket to get up to the sky. There is no fixed price for bitcoin and it is almost getting always a pump price rather than dump so i believe that bitcoin could reach that very high price.

More and more countries are adopting bitcoin and they are on the starting stage right now. But lets imagine if the country has already spread the use of bitcoin to almost half of its population that would be a crazy increase in bitcoins demand  which will lead into an increased value. We are going to hit a major increase in value by the end of this year.
3735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ASICs and cellphone encryption on: April 15, 2017, 02:49:01 AM
Is there any way to make high speed cellphone encryption that is as strong as the Bitcoin blockchain, using ASICs. The unit would have to be a stand-alone connected to the cellphone.

However, if there was a unit that could be placed between your computer and Skype, we could have practical, private calls, real time, for free.

Is this being worked on?
Any ideas?

Cool

That ideas is very feasible and can be done and somehow some apps have already made it. But there is a major disadvantage on the usage of cellphones since it can be easily attacked and intercepted rendering your transactions vulnerable from attacks. And so even if it is good to make use of such applications but let us also consider the security factor. If in case the security can be increased then that will be the time that your idea will come into reality.
3736  Economy / Economics / Re: FUD article from Bitcoin.com - The sky is falling!!! on: April 15, 2017, 02:45:04 AM
https://news.bitcoin.com/markets-update-bitcoins-battle-bear-market/?utm_source=OneSignal%20Push&utm_medium=notification&utm_campaign=Push%20Notifications

This article from Bitcoin.com is trying to play off the recent drop of the fiat price of bitcoin, stating that the bear market is here!

Such nonsense.

Quote
The fiat value of bitcoin has seen a decline over the past 24-hours as the price per BTC dropped from US$1215 to a low of $1140 across major global exchanges. At press time, the price is on the rebound hovering around the $1170-1180 range, but the market is showing no signs of fending off sellers.

Actually, Bitcoin.com, the fact that price is on the rebound precisely means that the market IS showing signs of fending off sellers.

It is another attack on bitcoin and probably the writer has tons of etherium and he wants the bitcoin holders to shift to his coin so he can get huge profits. That prediction of having to declare that the bear market is here is just a desperate attempt to overthrow bitcoin. But even what kind of news the bitcoin community will not be shaken and cannot be replaced.
3737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you see alts have chances against Bitcoins? on: April 15, 2017, 02:41:31 AM
frankly...yes

the percentage of btc domination has been only one way.

while not the whole story, unless btc can sort out the segwit, then LN, and make block size about 8MB/16 M as Coblee seems to think 400M users can be served with 1MB/segwit/LN, but still to expensive, so we need 8MB to 16 MB blocks at least to make it usable.

ETH shows just how much the market share can be taken.

Btc may have advantages being the settlement layer.

That is very far from happening. Etherium cannot replace and overcome bitcoin. Though there are many problem behind bitcoin network but there are solutions waiting in-line to make bitcoin work better and stronger. If you look at the value of bitcoin you can say that bitcoin is still strong amidst the issues and will continue to strive and will continue to exist as the best crytpcurrency online.
3738  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Kim Jong-Un opens skyscraper complex in Pyongyang on: April 15, 2017, 02:38:44 AM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uea37l9cVCU

Kim Jong-Un unveiled a massive skyscraper complex during a ceremony in Pyongyang on Thursday.
Thousands of cheering North Koreans watched as their leader opened the Ryomyong Street development, which includes more than 5,000 flats.

I observed that you are a keen observer on what is happening on North Korea and I thank you for that. This way we can get a glimpse on how a closed country develops itself and how they are moving as a community. As a leader creating complex structures for the use and good of the public is a positive side that a leader should have and hope North Korea will focus on their development and not on having conflict with other countries.
3739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger, please sell your coins on: April 15, 2017, 02:34:29 AM
Dear Roger,

Please sell your fucking coins and GTFO so the rest of us can get on with our lives.

Sincerely,

The Bitcoin Community    Grin

There is nothing to worry about everything that Roger Ver. If his words have affected many bitcoin holders to sell their coins then let it be since there are many users who are waiting to buy bitcoins at a lower value. Even if a dump will occur bitcoin will easily overcome that and will recover in value. Lets face it, that is the nature of the market and what we need is to accept it.
3740  Economy / Economics / Re: Prediction for 2017 - share your views on: April 15, 2017, 02:30:24 AM
I predict that we can only achieve $1500 tops for this year. The price will remain in constant and will only rise the last quarter of the year. Bitcoin price has corrected itself with $1200 and even if there is Japan who will make a cash flow in the bitcoin market, I don't think it will be enough to push the price more  than $1500 this year.

I think bitcoin will go over your prediction which is 1500$ value per coin. I believe that a surge will happen since Japan, Indonesia and Russia will bring major impact on the value of bitcoin this year. With those countries involved the number of users will increase and it will affect the rapid increase in bitcoin value and it will hit 2k $ by the end of this year.
