How are your returns on that?  Do you do better than hashnest?  The cost is up since bitcoin price went down, but when I bought in at hasnest I was getting ~3% every 10 days or so.  Thanks for the links I will have to check those out.

solo mining is all or nothing.   so far on this nothing

Price slowly going up and still negative looking like a good day.  I will be surprised if we get 2 negatives in a row.

But I hope I'm happily surprised.  Summer has turned out to be better then I thought on difficulty.

Spring has been great for difficulty. Summer is yet to come.

On march 22nd diff =  46.7   price = 273 usd

on June     4th   diff =  47.5   price = 225 usd

still those numbers       are only okay   since price dropped  18%

Now if we copy this  in late aug we will be at  48.5 for diff, but price will be  180-190.

I see the bold line as possible .

37285  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 vs Spondoolies SP20 on: June 04, 2015, 05:39:30 PM
if you underclock sp20s to 900gh they are more efficient then s-5's at 1150gh  about .47 watts vs .51 or .52

you can run 2 easy at under 900 watts.  and 8% fan speed.  sound is meh, but not good.

s-5's can be fan modded to be okay, but never good.

pretty much a push if you can get quality working sp20's
37286  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: June 04, 2015, 04:50:18 PM
Oh, Mr Sidehack, with your usb miner design, you're using the CP2102 yes? do you have esd/power spike protection on the data lines from the USB to the chip? (i think some smd capacitors from each data line to earth should do it i have to double check the data sheet)

just a thought, since I've has nothing but bad luck with things that run from CP2102s (hand full of usb block eruptors, a zues miner, my "new R-box's" all with fried Silabs chips)

I have had a lot of block eruptors in the hundreds very few failed. My 100gh r-boxes all worked well.

Do you have power supply issues?
Do you overclock?
Did you fan cool the usb sticks?

@ bick

I have a suggestion, lock this post and set up a moderated post.

Then you won't have to fight with off posts.

You can also set a thread with all the  deletions in it.

Fact is Dz coop fucked a lot of people.  They were able to do this by being very good in the beginning.

Round 17 they did a lot of refunds. But a lot of people lost money on that round.

I did quite a bit of business with them.  Including buying 3000 worth of U1 Sticks from them. But the Black Arrow round 17 was a true killer. They have never been the same since that round.

37290  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Solo mine with 600 GHs on: June 04, 2015, 08:42:42 AM
According to this: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/14346/what-are-the-odds-of-discovering-a-block-as-a-solo-miner
With a network hashrate of 362,000,000 GH/s:
362000000/600 = 603333 many blocks before you find one.
At average of 144 blocks per day: 4189.81 ~ 4190 days = 11.4718 ~ 11.5 years to find one block at the current difficulty.

I get 10.8 years

600gh is 0.006341 btc a day  according to bitcoinwisdom

I divided  that into 25 coins and get 3942.595  divide by 365 =  about 10.8

and about 3942 to 1 on any given day.  with our current diff rate..

problem with these estimates is  they are base on current diff rate.

the rate dropped more then 2%   last adjustment so you have better odds this adjustment then the last.

our adjustments have been good lately.

so good I run this at a solo pool

http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

my cost is 7 cents a day to run the 117gh at a solo block my odds are 22,222 to hit a block so with 'normal luck'

I will spend 1555.54 usd to hit a block  currently a block is worth 5625 usd.

unfortunately I can't scale up to large hash rates with my location.

May 31------   33 blocks       +3----------------estimate due to partial day
june 1------- 135 blocks       - 9
june 2------- 150 blocks        +6
june 3------- 138 blocks        -6

456   should be 462    so   456/362=    0.9870  -1 = - 0.01298 =   (-1.298%)

as of the end of june 3

     https://blockchain.info/blocks

four june 4

359305    00:17
359353    07:35

so 49 blocks made     we should have done 6 x 7.5 = 45

so plus 4

505   should be 507    505/507 = 0.9960 -1 = -0.00399    =

(- 0.3944%)  as of now

37292  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Hardware whats going on? on: June 04, 2015, 07:57:42 AM
I wanted to start this topic,by asking whats going on with the mining gear with bitcoin or scrypt.

are they dying out? is there no new machines in the works?

does any one have any insight in the big companies about any hardware. 2014 was so big for mining is it now buy bulk old machines and just mine bitcoin.

some companies.

zeusminers.
zoomhash
knc

etc,

gaw-zen-paycoin just about killed off scrypt with their tatics.

and once the s-3 jumped from 2 watt gear to .8 watt gear  the asic world simply stopped efficiency wise.

we are now at .48watt gear. under clock the sp20 and it drops to .48 watts

big farms and builders now find cheap power , as that cost less then making new gear.

I can break the math down if you want it.

but a guy with .8watt s-3's and 3 cent power wins over a guy with .51 watt s-5's and 10 cent power.

this has changed the builders mind set. quite a bit.

Well I built the  dedicated node and it is doing pretty well burns 24 watts and all it runs is the node.

I left the wallet empty.  After it runs a week I am starting a thread on how low powered an effective node can be.

This pulls 24 watts with the display powered off. I need to see if it gets up to 8.5 or more it should do so after 1 week of run time.

right now I am at 6.8

37299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: June 03, 2015, 05:34:03 PM
and yet to see any testing on this by anyone on any gear.

which shows the current state of home mining is pretty much dead at the moment.

Or most folks already are well stocked with HP and/or IBM server supplies to take care of immediate future needs (like me)  Wink

But ja, unless folks have several 'spare' kw to use at home and a way to take care of the heat, home mining could well be kaput. That doesn't mean that only Peta-pharms will be Bitmain and any other mfgrs left as customers, just that it's now past the hobbyist stage and in the hands of folks that can afford & locate larger setups.

yeah for me I have summer rates of 16.9 cents add in 1.1 cents and at 18 cents home mining is done until oct 1  rates drop to 13.3 cents and with the heat made take off 3.3 cents and from oct 1 to june 1

 I am at 10 cents.

I have 1 spot to mine at 3.2  cents in the summer and 2.4 cents in the winter but my max power there is 1kwatt.
I am running 3 s-3's slight under clock.

any other renting is from rentals see sig.

please note my sig is a gift to west-nice hash and ck solopool
