Instead of pming him, why not ask him in public? How many characters are there in the hash? I am thinking that this is a hash of a giveaway and if he cracks it then he wins and gives a btc and keeps the rest.

If it's a passphrase or something like that (you said 64 chars, so maybe) you might want to try downloading some rainbow tables. They are essentially precomputed hashes using a time vs memory tradeoff. You can get them from quite a few sites and torrents now. Chance is low with 64 chars but maybe there's a smaller equivalent- i.e. maybe "bobbo" hashes to the same as "supercalafrajalisticexpialadocious" And according to this a billion per second isn't enough.

uh no
with about 25 video cards its possible
Not even with this many will you be able to crack a 64 letter encryption.
It is going to take forever to crack a 64 letter encryption! This would cost a lot more than a btc

Now this is to prevent scammers. People could easily answer some questions or find a way to skip the tutorial and then scam others out!

If you have free electricity then you would need over $2000 dollars to get a good enough miner to reach roi!
Congratulations! Have you calculated how much your miner can generate? You have a few months to get roi and it seems like you have a lot of ghashs avaliable.

I'v found this online http://glados.cc/myfaucet/I was wondering how do you earn money from your own faucet? This apparently has built in advetisement rotation but how do you earn money from it Has anyone created his faucet with this website before? I have custom coded my own faucet, and I really don't make money from it. I just recycle the advertisement money and if I have any spare change I send it over. I believe that it is better to just give some money away to the community of saving $2 which doesn't get you anything.

They would either be the same price or more expensive. It all depends if the company trusts bitcoin enough to keep it or if they want to sell it instantly.

Hey guys! I've been stuck in the newbie section but finally got out! I'm Fox and the newest employee at http://ice-dice.comI'm here to answer questions, help you with any issues, or really anything else! I do PR, marketing, support, and more for Ice-dice. My user ID on Ice-Dice is 2, and you can always send me an email at icedicefox@gmx.comLooks fishy, here is why: not using https:// in URL. not using a @ice-dice.com e-mail. And obviously, no announcement by icedicedavid, which should come first. Perhaps a time to learn the usefulness of PGP signatures. Yup it's him, he's my PR guy. He has better temper than I do and I get annoyed by trolls so hes going to deal with them from now on. Wow! Congrats on the job!

i'd say 0.0005 BTC is indeed too much especially for smaller payments. have you been charged such fee recently (yes ? -> where)? these fees were once meant as a compensation for miners but since the price per GH has dropped significantly since the start of the asic-age i'd say this should be taken into account on future fee regulations as well as a relative max. limit (e.g. 0.2%) of the amount being transferred.
i noticed that electrum (preferences -> wallet) per default also comes with the transaction fee set to 0.0005 but can individually be overridden on each send.
@nahtnam: i've also heard/read that transactions take longer with low/zero fees but could you give an average based on your experiences on how much 'longer' would typically be? say i'd transfer 1/5 BTC with a fee of 0.0001, 0.00001, 0.000001 and 0.0 , how long should i probably expect each to take?
thanks, pm
It takes anywhere from 1 hour to 1 day. You should use coinbase because you can send any amount to another coinbase account instantly and without any fees. Also any transaction more than 0.001 have no fees to external (non coinbase accoubts).
