<sigh>

The level of arrogance here is repulsive.

Change this:

I just snapped that btw so don't tell me noobs aren't being led to a sh1t client.

yes but you said that the OP doesn't say anything about alternative clients, and there is a link with a full collection of all.

We will obviously not remove the link the core server client?!?
3762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 05, 2014, 06:41:49 PM
Also one of the places newbies start out is the subreddit /r/NXT, the first link directly leads to the nxtclient.org link

I don't really know, what more we can do. (Besides changing the nxtcrypto.org page)
3763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 05, 2014, 06:39:19 PM
Why is it so hard to eliminate? Just changing the OP would take 5 seconds of someone's time. I wouldn't have chosen that download if it wasn't on the first page of this thread.

You don't build the reputation of a new coin by letting poorly crafted software screw newbies out of their new coins.

I will get the OP changed ok?

It's ok with me. Can anyone explain why it wasn't changed months ago? How long has a superior windows client existed?

Just checked, it is right there?

What exactely do you want to have changed?

You mean someone that wants to donate to the millionares that created this thing can't be bothered to enter an account #?!? Color me skeptical. Do we even know who owns that non account?

everyone owns that account, you know how to enter it yourself Wink

If you send NXT there, than the first person to detect that, will send the NXT to his own account.  In your case the NXT went to this account: http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=15403621473314136443

Maybe he runs a program that checks the "easy" account numbers for incoming transfers.

I think this is so really stupid argument. If I want to donate it, I would rather donate it to someone I know, rather to random hacker running a bot by sending them to "null" account.

I doubt anyone sending nxt to "null" account are donating it. They are all new users making the same mistake.

It was done a few times in the beginning, but yes most are just mistakes!

I have sent some <10 NXTs to this account to get rid of them in the beginning of NXT to test things. Now i just donate to specific guys. But you can actually see, that there are nearly NO transactions to easy accounts anymore.

If you really think BTC is going to go up THAT much in short period of time, don't understand why you didn't just buy a BTC. Good luck to you smooth, at this option write up, you'll need it.

If he thinks that BTC will rise 100% (for example), then an option has a much bigger return than buying BTC.
3768  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Options trading thread on: April 05, 2014, 06:13:17 PM
Sending funding. I will review the last bitstamp relative to the timestamp on Twin's reply to confirm but we don't need to actually figure that out until expiration. I don't expect any discrepancy and if there is it will be small.

EDIT: funding sent txid fed93d66abeb5a705c8f130c0127b4ccd3b880e9ea0b901a11d7531d7d08002a

Quoted and GL to you Smiley

Good luck. Too bad it wasn't made clear previously. Perhaps the owner of that null account wouldn't have received so many unintended donations.

Unbelievable that this hasn't been addressed after months.

Why don't you accept some coins and try out some of the cool features, that NO other coin has?

Seriously unimpressed with the arrogant attitude of most of the next supporters here. If this is such a tiny problem then why does the null account have so many transactions?

Because some people send coins there to "donate" them. Sounds strange, but it is very easy to donate coins that way instead of just abandoning your account.

PS: also in the last 30 days there was only your transaction.

Selling 556 bitcoins for WU. if interested send me PM or contact me through email: zantrome@gmail.com

Ok, where should i send the money? Can i send in one chunk? I don't like to split the money up into small pieces. Too much hassle

if i go to a bank to make a deposit. i makes sure i have the correct account number and sort code. enuf sed

More than enough. If I give the banker a deposit slip without an account number, what happens? Does she send the dollars to her own account?

Pretty basic logic check I would think.

People sending their next coins to a null account ARE partly to blame, but this lack of refinement in a crypto client that claims to be btc 2.0 is a huge turn off.
This analogy doesnt work because you entered an account number and it was indeed valid. I Knie this Situation sucks and there would be ways to prevent that, but double checking on the cunsumer end would have also saved you.

Sure would have. I could have looked up block explorer and made sure that the account number on my screen was not active since last november. Yeah, there are lots of things I could have done but didn't.

Now how many people that are new to crypto even know what a block explorer is? This coin will not be taken seriously as a competitor to btc if it can't get it's sh1t together after months.

No, that wasn't what i meant.

When i create a NXT account i use keepass, and I note the Account number. Then i log out and log in again with the password, to check if the password works.

Then when I want to receive NXT I just use the account number i wrote down.

Infiniti poker tried, but it also lacks traffic. (don't think they had HUDs available though)

Anyways, a great looking and fast UI is a must. + traffic + HUD

Half a year back, I made a movement to let stars know that they should accept BTC. They said that they are even trying it out at the moment (That was way back in september 2013) but since then no move has been made. I guess they don't think it will be viable, or that they would become a BTC exchange that way essentially.

Hope they just introduce BTC and some BTC tables, would be awesome for the economy of cryptos.

Next difficulty retarget occurs at block 294335.0 (eta 1.5 hrs): 6132793309.73 / +22.5% [est.]
crazy climb up difficulty  Angry

if miners buy mining rig using BTC, it will be fine because BTC price is cheap now

Ha?

Quite the opposite is the case! If you buy with cheap BTC you pay much more BTC. But you don't earn more BTC because of that. It is good to invest into hardware at HIGH prices.!

Scratch that!

It is BETTER to invest into hardware at HIGH prices COMPARED to low prices. Still not good though !!!

Thanks. If you think I'm the lowest common denominator intellectually, then well, I hope you're financially diversified.

Haha, good post Smiley

It is true that we need to make a failsafe client for really computer-retarded persons. But a client like Offspring is close to that. Can't make much wrong with it!

New users are going to go to http://www.nxtcrypto.org/ and download the default NRS server -- Most won't even know "Offspring" exists.

The build-in client (that was supposed to be temporary) that comes with NRS server needs to be replaced. This will solve most password related user errors.

Totally agree. When introducing friends or fellow pokerplayers to NXT I always send them to nxtclient.org and stell them to now install the main client, because it is too much hassle to set it up. But I am sure we will figure out a solution to that soon.

After 5 years there still isn't a good poker room for coiners. Seals with clubs doesn't cut it. If there was a room on the level of a proven regular poker room, UI wise (Pokerstars, iPoker, or at least 888-Pacific Poker) then I would definitely play there.

Seals is okayish. One of the downsides is the lack of traffic. Other than that, they try hard to ímprove, but they don't have a lot of funding!

Since FPDB added SWC, playing with a HUD is much more preferrable.

I guess nxtcrypto.org  should redirect users to nxtclient.org  from the download link. NRS is the "server".  Something like the main backbone. The clients interact with it. Anyone can write any type of client (like Offspring with wallet.dat as option) that interacts with NRS server. NRS comes with it's own (very basic) client javascript client, but it was always intended to be temporary.

Who manages the site? Might be a good idea to change that, until the new UI comes out.

Correct, because they won't realize the OP is leading them to an inferior client that lacks very basic refinements.

If you download the offspring client on nxtclient.org, I can send you a couple of NXT to play around a bit. Send some messages (even encrypted) , register an alias or send NXT.
Also you could check out the NXT testnet that runs the asset exchange on http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/ . Register an account and post here and we will send you some test nxt.

Nxt is really awesome, if you give it a try!
