I think it can be true.
If you've been involved in Bitcoin since ten years ago, even if you sold some of it, you're probably going to have some non-trivial amount of bitcoin in different wallets that you've been using over the years. I don't think someone who was involved in it, keeping bitcoin in their own wallets, etc, would have sold everything and forgotten about it. Maybe someone that only bought once and kept it on an exchange, but not a true bitcoiner that has been playing around with the technology all these years.

One thing to remember is that some countries, like the US for example, will still tax you even if you're working in Indonesia and they don't tax you.
An example of this is Boris Johnson. He was born in the US(New York) but left to the UK when he was a child. When he sold his home in the UK he had to pay capital gains tax to the US because he was a US citizen, although he didn't have to pay taxes in the UK for it. A couple of years later in 2016 he decided to renounce his US citizenship.

I couldn't verify these signatures with Electrum, it says wrong signature. All the rest verify OK. For the people quoted here, try doing it again, and make sure to double check it yourself by verifying it with the same software you signed it before posting it here. There's a ton of excellent information in this forum, already posted. Since you're just starting out, you should be reading a lot of posts for every post you make. This forum is not like many other places in the internet. Each post here should have a reason to exist. Don't spam, or post low quality stuff. Think before you post. Try to give value in your posts. You seem to be mostly interested in how to earn money in this forum. It can be done, but you need to create value for it. For example you can earn money by selling goods or services in their respective sections. You can also check out the marketplace in general. Another way of making money is to sign up for a signature campaign, which will pay you for posting constructive posts in different sections of the forum. At the end of the day you should be providing value to the forum by posting good quality content here. Just do that, be a good human, and you'll get benefits from it over time. That's kinda how real life works as well. |

I like setting up automatic recurrent buys, so that I will always buy some Bitcoin.
Plus, I just buy any amount manually whenever I feel like.
At the end of the day, I don't think it matters too much when you buy it, specially if you're thinking in the long term (a decade or two).

Honestly, I have never heard of Privnote, but I will bookmark this thread as it can come in handy sometimes in the future. Can't say that I find the service particularly attractive and it could be a great honeypot for various agencies and organizations. Not saying it is, just that someone somewhere could get interested in the content that is being sent over the service. PGP encrypted messages work just fine. Besides PGP, you could just encrypt a message with your Electrum wallet and PM it to the other party. Just click on Tools > Encrypt/decrypt messages. Enter your message, the public key of the receiver, and click on encrypt.  Well, yes. That works great if you have available the public key of the receiver. But if you're sending data to a person that doesn't have a public key (or a newbie), then using a service like privnote is great, as it just works for anyone in the world. |

Are both miners connected to the same USB in the computer?
If that's the case, probably the USB connector is not able to supply enough energy to both miners at the same time.
Try connecting them to different USB connectors (although they might be connected internally).
Best thing you can do is to connect the miners to a powered USB hub, and then connect the USB hub to the computer.

Probably one of the most common advice I've heard when it comes to investing in bitcoin; and I've used it a lot of times too. But honestly, in our current situation where fiat is getting printed like hell, I started to use that statement less and less. It just seems that holding bitcoin is now totally necessary.
Don't get me wrong, we should still be heavily educating people when it comes to proper investing in general with DCA-ing and probably not going all-in on one go and stuff, but I think bitcoin is a lot less risky of an investment now compared to the past few years despite it still being volatile.
Thoughts? Opinions?
As of today I think you would be crazy not to have any bitcoins at all. You just need to read the original sources to realize how important Bitcoin is, and more importantly, how it was not created as a way to make a quick buck, which is the case these days with 99% of altcoins. I had a look at gold, and real estate as investments, and ended up choosing Bitcoin. Not only because of it's amazing ROI, but also because of it's unique self sovereignty. No other asset has that quality. You do need to have some kind of short term money available to you, maybe in a savings account, or index funds, etc. But for the long term I'm definitely looking to get all the sats that I can. |
