3761  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: March 07, 2021, 10:48:55 PM
exactly - except now I am getting posted about for it - getting pm's as if I have violated a rule. Make it simple - will remove the guy until someone who is someone actually trusts the guy too, then I will readd him.

edit - removed. anyone else I need to remove?
I think the main point is that since you're on DT you have a responsibility to be extremely conservative about who you put in your trust list and who you give positive feedback to, because someone could easily misuse both a position on DT and/or a green trust.

Jeez, things used to be so much simpler (and better IMO) when it was extremely hard to even get on DT2.  The first time I made the list, I recall hilariousandco or Lauda created a thread just to discuss some potential new DT2 additions.

Now it's like a free-for-all and it seems like it doesn't mean much to be a DT member anymore.  But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful about maintaining your trust list if you are on DT.
3762  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MicroStrategy has bought more $1.026 billion worth of Bitcoin. on: March 07, 2021, 08:44:49 PM
I'm expecting bitcoin to be well above $50k again by next week (and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that).
And here we are, with bitcoin at exactly $50k after dropping about $1k in the last couple of hours--not quite the gain that'd I'd predicted, but bitcoin's been on a wild ride these past two weeks.  I'm pretty sure there are a lot of small traders or long-time hodlers who took their profits off the table, which has caused a lot of volatility.

Meanwhile.....

I'm not sure MSTR's price drop has anything to do with their purchase of bitcoin, just like with the Tesla situation.  As I said in another thread, the entire stock market is flying high and is extremely overvalued, so any stock that's been declining in the past month or two would not surprise me in the least.  Better the air comes out slowly IMO than a complete popping of what could be a bubble.

Haven't heard anything negative from the shareholders, though.
3763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin balance on exchanges reached a 2-year low on: March 07, 2021, 06:03:06 PM
the equation is clear: High demand- Low supply.
Therefore, the price has to keep going up.
Eh....maybe.  There's no telling how long this "trend" is going to continue--and if you've been into bitcoin long enough, you ought to know that surprises should come as no surprise.  Those companies that bought bitcoin may or may not hold onto it forever, and if any one of them decide to dump their holdings onto the market, watch out.  There'll be plenty of bitcoin available across all the exchanges in no time.

But I'm hoping you're correct, because low supply on exchanges (and assuming a constant or increasing demand) should mean a boost in price.  You just never know, though.  Demand could slump and a lot of individual sellers could drive the price down if they decide to sell all at once.  Somehow I don't see that happening anytime soon, because the vibe I'm getting from the market is extremely bullish.

Damn good year for bitcoin so far, I must say.  Let's hope it continues.
3764  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I too late to Bitcoin? on: March 07, 2021, 04:57:48 PM
If I remember correctly, people were asking this very same question back when bitcoin was $10k, $20k, and probably at valuations much lower than that before I got into the scene.  So if what's being asked is whether bitcoin is too expensive to buy it now, I'd have to say "NO".

I'm pretty much of the mind that it's never too late to get into bitcoin--hell, it's only about 11 years old right now, so it's still a relatively new thing.  And with all of these big companies buying up large amounts of it, I'd say the price is likely to go much higher than $50k (which is where it's sitting as I write this).

If there is any truth that we now have as much as 2% of the total world population
That seems a little high but I wouldn't scoff at that number outright.  As time has gone on, I've started to meet more and more people who've gotten into crypto.  We're still a long way away from it being completely mainstream, however.
3765  Other / Meta / Re: Shame question - links in signature on: March 07, 2021, 04:18:55 PM
You can pretty much put what you want in your signature as long as it's legal.
There you go.  And I wouldn't see a problem with putting any kind of non-signature campaign advertising in your signature space as long as it didn't break any of the other rules.  That would be kind of strange, wouldn't it?

Plus I've seen plenty of members do the same, i.e., advertise something in their sig space without being in a campaign.  Nobody's created a stink for having done so as far as I know (unless it was something illegal, as hilariousandco pointed out, in which case mods would probably just nuke the sig).

Unfortunately, it's also okay if the service is a scam. But at least malware isn't allowed.
Yeah, it's fine if it's a scam but not fine if it's illegal.  Gotta love this forum sometimes.
3766  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reference topic: Why are these members excluded on trust lists? on: March 07, 2021, 02:01:08 AM
He's not a scammer as far as I know. I disagree with his use of trust system for petty and/or personal stuff so I've had him excluded in my trust list since forever.
Well I took a look at the trust he's left (at least the feedbacks written in English), and there's nothing worse in there than anything Lauda had given.  I see Ratimov has tagged a lot of account sellers and didn't seem to be giving out negs for frivolous reasons, though he tagged some members as being alts and I don't know if they're alts of scammers or what.  A lot of his negative feedbacks were worded very strongly, but I don't see that as a big deal.

And yet the fact remains that Ratimov got removed from the Chipmixer campaign, so something must have happened.  I thought he might have gotten a DT neg, but that isn't the case.  Last I checked there was nothing about it in the Chipmixer thread.
3767  Economy / Economics / Re: Did tesla's $1.5 billion bitcoin purchase negatively affect their stock price on: March 07, 2021, 12:10:21 AM
Apparently, there were criticisms against Tesla for buying more than a billion USD worth of Bitcoin.
No doubt, and it seems like there's a huge difference between Tesla investors and MicroStrategy investors--the latter seem to like the fact that their company purchased a massive amount of bitcoin.

But just based on that graph (which is a very short timeline), I'm not completely convinced that Tesla's bitcoin purchase is responsible for their stock price dipping.  The entire market is overvalued right now, and I'm kind of surprised that more stocks aren't starting to slide.  Plus, as we all know, correlation doesn't mean causation.
3768  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have 0.017 BTC Want $750 PP F&F on: March 06, 2021, 11:58:57 PM
I'd be interested in buying $150 worth of bitcoin from you if you're willing to trade that amount, which would be 0.00306623BTC.  You would have to send first since you're a newbie--I've done lots of PayPal trades in the past.  Let me know if you're interested.

Edit:  I PM'ed OP with the above offer and didn't hear back, so I'm not sure if he's already done the trade or doesn't want to send first or what.  OP, if you're no longer looking to do this deal you ought to lock the thread.
3769  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reference topic: Why are these members excluded on trust lists? on: March 06, 2021, 11:12:03 PM
Why do you constantly mention that I sent you PM?, second time. I showed you the big picture and you were only hooked on the neutral tag.
Better question: Why do you keep sending me PMs about this shit?

FYI, I haven't been keeping up on all the forum drama, including whatever is going on with Ratimov.  I know he was accused of plagiarism, but from what I read it seems like he did cite his sources and the mods didn't ban him.  If there's feedback abuse going on with him, I must have missed it--but from my perspective it looks like you're hopping mad because of the neutral feedback he left you.

What else is there?  Maybe suchmoon can give me a TL;DR for my piss-poor cerebral cortex to process if you're not up to it.

I don't want to judge anyone, but sometimes it seems to me that people are afraid to do the right thing, as Ratimov can do to them as he did to eddie13.
I don't think I've ever been accused of being afraid to do the right thing on this forum, unless it was to get involved with a member-to-member beef that I didn't have complete information about.  So please, educate me on what you think the right thing to do would be for a DT member with respect to Ratimov.
3770  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reference topic: Why are these members excluded on trust lists? on: March 06, 2021, 06:59:53 PM
I'm sure that user ~Ratimov is mistakenly in DT1 because:
The system is for handling trade risk, not for flagging people for good/bad posts/personalities/ideas.
Stupid idiot, troll, son of a bitch, schizophrenic, Idiot with a broken head
He left you a neutral, so it's not as though Ratimov's feedback affects your trust score or your chances to get into a sig campaign (if that's your thing).  I did get your PM after I posted in that other thread about Ratimov being removed from the Chipmixer campaign--you directed me to this thread, but there's nothing new here that I haven't seen before.

DarkStar_ wouldn't have removed Ratimov because of some feedback dispute.  I'll have to check to see if he got a DT neg.  That would be the most obvious explanation.
3771  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov does not understand DT system on: March 06, 2021, 04:57:39 PM
Ah, are you another envious and petty hater Chipmixer? Well, would say right away.
Looks like you got removed from the Chipmixer campaign if I'm looking at the spreadsheet right.  What's up with that?  Did all of these allegations catch up with you or was it something else?

At least you made it 20 weeks in the campaign, but I'm curious as to why you got dropped.

The post above was sponsored by pedofiles and narkobarons. Chipmixer, stop flooding up this topic!
Yeah, your point is taken; you don't need to keep repeating it (and it's just as stupid as blaming bitcoin for being a tool of terrorists, pedos, and drug dealers).
3772  Economy / Economics / Re: The End of Covid Scam? "Governor Abbott Opens Texas 100 Percent" on: March 06, 2021, 04:08:10 PM
Sooner or later, it'll be the case in most States and countries still under any sort of lockdown<snip>
Yeah--eventually.  Most states in the US are still taking all the same precautions they were almost a year ago, although there have been a lot of reopenings of businesses that were closed.

Figures that Texas would lead the way in doing this, though I do hope it doesn't lead to a spike in COVID.  But on the other hand, a lot of people are getting vaccinated now, so that's a damn good thing and something that we didn't have last year.  And yeah, it takes a lot of balls on the part of any politician to do something like this.  Props to Texas!
3773  Economy / Economics / Re: In crypto everybody pay high tx fee, no matter rich or poor people on: March 05, 2021, 03:50:54 PM
This is false.
Pretty much all of what OP wrote is false, and not just the part about ETH transaction fees.  In the stock market nowadays if you're using an online broker like TD Ameritrade or Robinhood, there are NO trading fees--and that's a huge change from the way it used to be.  I remember having to pay $8/trade about 16 years ago, and way before that traders had to pay a percentage of the amount they were trading--and that could end up being a ton of money and definitely did not discriminate against the poor.

Get your facts straight, OP.
3774  Economy / Economics / Re: Pricing in Dollar - Pricing in Bitcoin on: March 05, 2021, 01:04:25 PM
I don't know what country you live in, but I'm pretty sure that the Chinese value bitcoin in Yuan, not USD (though I could be mistaken about that).  I'd always assumed that bitcoin was priced in whatever local currency you're dealing with.

As to your question, if the US dollar hyperinflates (and man, I'm really hoping it doesn't in the near future) then obviously bitcoin is not going to be valued in USD primarily--though it still could, it would just be a mess to do the daily conversions.  But think about how payment processors like Bitpay operate.  They value bitcoin in terms of whatever fiat currency the item you're buying is priced in, so USD would have to be one of them.

This is making my head spin, because I hate thinking about how much trouble the US dollar is in, and I don't see how the government is going to undo the mess they've put all the US citizens in with all the money printing, stimulus, and everything else.  But at least bitcoin isn't affected by any of that--that's the good news, but only if you own bitcoin.
3775  Other / Meta / Re: (I GOT THE ACCOUNT BACK!!!!) Bitcointalk account with the name "Frost" stolen on: March 05, 2021, 12:27:33 PM
Right. Good idea. I did send out a PM. Let's see  Smiley
Looks legit to me, and I'm not going to create a stir by keeping a negative on Frost's profile.  Glad you got your account back, man.  Fuck those hackers.
3776  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tim Draper: Netflix will be the next one to fall on: March 04, 2021, 02:11:43 PM
This sounds like pure speculation if you ask me (and yeah, I get that this is the section for that), and it doesn't seem like TD has any real reason to think that Netflix is going to invest in bitcoin.  But who knows, he might know something the rest of us don't.

For whatever reason I don't see this trend of corporations purchasing bitcoin as an investment/cash alternative as a long-lasting one, especially if bitcoin doesn't maintain its value somewhere around $50k.  It's just too risky an asset for a public company to do that, and frankly I'm surprised that there haven't been concerns voiced by shareholders of MSTR or Tesla stock about those companies buying bitcoin.

But hey, I could be 100% wrong.  If this trend does hold up, I'd expect bitcoin to shoot to the moon--and quickly, too.
3777  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How long does Hitbtc have withdraws offline? on: March 03, 2021, 03:56:55 PM
This is crazy. How can an exchange exist without anybody knowing where it is? Wouldn't credit card payments or bank transfers create a money trail? Has nobody decided to do detective work to figure this out? I never knew this was possible to create a website and be able to anonymously collect money without a trail. I remember somebody recommending Hitbtc has a secure exchange. I don't remember ever hearing anything bad about it, but now it seems everywhere.
Yeah, all of that shit's crazy, isn't it?  But for better or worse I think we're nearing the end of these wild west days of unregulated exchanges that nobody knows anything about (like Yobit for instance).  And as far as people doing detective work, I don't think it happens all that often because crypto users generally don't want to take their cases to law enforcement and thereby draw attention to themselves--with the result that you get shitty exchanges like HitBTC getting away with murder.

By the way, the warning signs were there for HitBTC for quite a while.  I'm pretty sure right now they're recognized as a bona fide scam exchange, and hopefully people are not using them anymore (though I suspect many will continue to).
3778  Other / Meta / Re: Deleting posts. Need help. on: March 03, 2021, 03:35:28 PM
I am not such a great professional as Elon Musk, when most of the cryptocurrency users instantly react to his few words, but I am already 42 years old and I have my own opinion, which was formed in five years of my activity in this field and I can express it.
Um, OK.  But if you're banned you're banned.  And it wouldn't hurt if you took a look at the unofficial rules of the forum or at least got a feel for what's accepted around here before jumping in a la Leroy Jeeeenkins and getting slaughtered.

Your posts are utter shit, even the ones that remain, so I can only imagine how horrible were the ones that got deleted.
I haven't looked, but I'm inclined to take your word for it right off the bat just based on what OP's written here.  This isn't Twitter, where you can fire off 100 little thoughts per day.  It's Bitcointalk, and since a lot of people are getting paid to post on the forum there are some fairly high standards for what constitutes a decent post.  If you get unbanned, OP, good luck to you and just be aware of what this forum is and is not.
3779  Economy / Economics / Re: The bitter reality on: March 02, 2021, 05:37:00 PM
Don't lose hope. From what I've heard, it's only the Central Bank of Nigeria who is against Bitcoin but their SEC is actually willing to adopt cryptocurrency.
I was wondering what the CBN was, not being a Nigerian citizen myself.  So I assume that they control all of the little banks, one of which OP was using to deal with crypto?  That does indeed suck--it sounds like OP will get whatever money he had deposited with his bank back, but hopefully this doesn't mean he'll have to go unbanked for long.  I don't know how available banking is in Nigeria.

Governments want to regulate everything, and it's ridiculous, no matter what reasons they give (money laundering is usually top on their list).  Anyway, don't give up OP.  Find another bank if you can and figure out another way to do crypto transactions.  Best of luck, and you've got my sympathy here as well.
3780  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT network visualization chart on: March 02, 2021, 04:38:22 PM
If there is any DT gang,  it will be easy to visualize here.
I'm pretty sure there's no DT gang now (if there ever was one).  The whole system seems to be as fragmented as it's ever been--and there's not even a Cult of Lauda anymore!

Pretty neat visualization tool, OP.  I don't know if I'll find any use for it personally, but I'm sure it'll keep a lot of curious people busy for long periods of time just playing around with it.

Here's a way to group people by sect in order to stereotype and marginalize them (just joking, jeez):

LOL.
