I think the main point is that since you're on DT you have a responsibility to be extremely conservative about who you put in your trust list and who you give positive feedback to, because someone could easily misuse both a position on DT and/or a green trust. 

Jeez, things used to be so much simpler (and better IMO) when it was extremely hard to even get on DT2.  The first time I made the list, I recall hilariousandco or Lauda created a thread just to discuss some potential new DT2 additions. 

Now it's like a free-for-all and it seems like it doesn't mean much to be a DT member anymore.  But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful about maintaining your trust list if you are on DT.

And here we are, with bitcoin at exactly $50k after dropping about $1k in the last couple of hours--not quite the gain that'd I'd predicted, but bitcoin's been on a wild ride these past two weeks.  I'm pretty sure there are a lot of small traders or long-time hodlers who took their profits off the table, which has caused a lot of volatility.

I'm not sure MSTR's price drop has anything to do with their purchase of bitcoin, just like with the Tesla situation.  As I said in another thread, the entire stock market is flying high and is extremely overvalued, so any stock that's been declining in the past month or two would not surprise me in the least.  Better the air comes out slowly IMO than a complete popping of what could be a bubble.

Eh....maybe.  There's no telling how long this "trend" is going to continue--and if you've been into bitcoin long enough, you ought to know that surprises should come as no surprise.  Those companies that bought bitcoin may or may not hold onto it forever, and if any one of them decide to dump their holdings onto the market, watch out.  There'll be plenty of bitcoin available across all the exchanges in no time.

But I'm hoping you're correct, because low supply on exchanges (and assuming a constant or increasing demand) should mean a boost in price.  You just never know, though.  Demand could slump and a lot of individual sellers could drive the price down if they decide to sell all at once.  Somehow I don't see that happening anytime soon, because the vibe I'm getting from the market is extremely bullish.

Damn good year for bitcoin so far, I must say.  Let's hope it continues.

If I remember correctly, people were asking this very same question back when bitcoin was $10k, $20k, and probably at valuations much lower than that before I got into the scene.  So if what's being asked is whether bitcoin is too expensive to buy it now, I'd have to say "NO". 

I'm pretty much of the mind that it's never too late to get into bitcoin--hell, it's only about 11 years old right now, so it's still a relatively new thing.  And with all of these big companies buying up large amounts of it, I'd say the price is likely to go much higher than $50k (which is where it's sitting as I write this). 

That seems a little high but I wouldn't scoff at that number outright.  As time has gone on, I've started to meet more and more people who've gotten into crypto.  We're still a long way away from it being completely mainstream, however.

Well I took a look at the trust he's left (at least the feedbacks written in English), and there's nothing worse in there than anything Lauda had given.  I see Ratimov has tagged a lot of account sellers and didn't seem to be giving out negs for frivolous reasons, though he tagged some members as being alts and I don't know if they're alts of scammers or what.  A lot of his negative feedbacks were worded very strongly, but I don't see that as a big deal. 

And yet the fact remains that Ratimov got removed from the Chipmixer campaign, so something must have happened.  I thought he might have gotten a DT neg, but that isn't the case.  Last I checked there was nothing about it in the Chipmixer thread.

No doubt, and it seems like there's a huge difference between Tesla investors and MicroStrategy investors--the latter seem to like the fact that their company purchased a massive amount of bitcoin.

But just based on that graph (which is a very short timeline), I'm not completely convinced that Tesla's bitcoin purchase is responsible for their stock price dipping.  The entire market is overvalued right now, and I'm kind of surprised that more stocks aren't starting to slide.  Plus, as we all know, correlation doesn't mean causation.

FYI, I haven't been keeping up on all the forum drama, including whatever is going on with Ratimov.  I know he was accused of plagiarism, but from what I read it seems like he did cite his sources and the mods didn't ban him.  If there's feedback abuse going on with him, I must have missed it--but from my perspective it looks like you're hopping mad because of the neutral feedback he left you.

Yeah--eventually.  Most states in the US are still taking all the same precautions they were almost a year ago, although there have been a lot of reopenings of businesses that were closed.

Pretty much all of what OP wrote is false, and not just the part about ETH transaction fees.  In the stock market nowadays if you're using an online broker like TD Ameritrade or Robinhood, there are NO trading fees--and that's a huge change from the way it used to be.  I remember having to pay $8/trade about 16 years ago, and way before that traders had to pay a percentage of the amount they were trading--and that could end up being a ton of money and definitely did not discriminate against the poor.

I don't know what country you live in, but I'm pretty sure that the Chinese value bitcoin in Yuan, not USD (though I could be mistaken about that).  I'd always assumed that bitcoin was priced in whatever local currency you're dealing with.

As to your question, if the US dollar hyperinflates (and man, I'm really hoping it doesn't in the near future) then obviously bitcoin is not going to be valued in USD primarily--though it still could, it would just be a mess to do the daily conversions.  But think about how payment processors like Bitpay operate.  They value bitcoin in terms of whatever fiat currency the item you're buying is priced in, so USD would have to be one of them.

This is making my head spin, because I hate thinking about how much trouble the US dollar is in, and I don't see how the government is going to undo the mess they've put all the US citizens in with all the money printing, stimulus, and everything else.  But at least bitcoin isn't affected by any of that--that's the good news, but only if you own bitcoin.

This sounds like pure speculation if you ask me (and yeah, I get that this is the section for that), and it doesn't seem like TD has any real reason to think that Netflix is going to invest in bitcoin.  But who knows, he might know something the rest of us don't.

For whatever reason I don't see this trend of corporations purchasing bitcoin as an investment/cash alternative as a long-lasting one, especially if bitcoin doesn't maintain its value somewhere around $50k.  It's just too risky an asset for a public company to do that, and frankly I'm surprised that there haven't been concerns voiced by shareholders of MSTR or Tesla stock about those companies buying bitcoin.

But hey, I could be 100% wrong.  If this trend does hold up, I'd expect bitcoin to shoot to the moon--and quickly, too.

Yeah, all of that shit's crazy, isn't it?  But for better or worse I think we're nearing the end of these wild west days of unregulated exchanges that nobody knows anything about (like Yobit for instance).  And as far as people doing detective work, I don't think it happens all that often because crypto users generally don't want to take their cases to law enforcement and thereby draw attention to themselves--with the result that you get shitty exchanges like HitBTC getting away with murder.

By the way, the warning signs were there for HitBTC for quite a while.  I'm pretty sure right now they're recognized as a bona fide scam exchange, and hopefully people are not using them anymore (though I suspect many will continue to).

I was wondering what the CBN was, not being a Nigerian citizen myself.  So I assume that they control all of the little banks, one of which OP was using to deal with crypto?  That does indeed suck--it sounds like OP will get whatever money he had deposited with his bank back, but hopefully this doesn't mean he'll have to go unbanked for long.  I don't know how available banking is in Nigeria.

Governments want to regulate everything, and it's ridiculous, no matter what reasons they give (money laundering is usually top on their list).  Anyway, don't give up OP.  Find another bank if you can and figure out another way to do crypto transactions.  Best of luck, and you've got my sympathy here as well.
