One of the Bundesliga promotion teams this season, Darmstadt, got a bad start and from the 3 matches they have played so far they have not got any points at all. However, Damstadt lost to 3 teams that dominated the Bundesliga last season, namely Frankfurt, Union Berlin and Leverkusen. So it's no wonder they get bad results when facing these strong teams. I had hoped that at least Damstadt would be able to surprise by defeating one or two of these teams, but it seems that didn't happen, even Damstadt was unable to hold a draw. In their next match they will face Gladbach at home and they must win this match if they want to have any hope of staying in the bundesliga.

The match between Al Ahli vs Al Taawon in the middle of September will have a big impact on the standings, A win for the home team will be enough to help them to stay in the race for the championship but a loss or draw will give the away team an advantage to get stronger in second place in the standings, because Al Taawon currently together with Al Hilal have a one-point advantage over the team below them, like the Al Hilal vs Al Ittihad match some time ago changed the standings so this match will be the same.

LOL.. Al Ahli need some time to recover from the devastating loss that they suffered against Al Fateh. Anyway, they have 10 more days to prepare for their encounter with Al Taawoun. But before their loss to Al Fateh, they had won all 4 of their initial matches. They would have got promoted to the top of the table had they won against Al Fateh, but now they are at 4th place. BTW, their opponents (Al Taawoun) are ahead of them in the points table with 13 points (4 wins and 1 draw). So it is going to be a very tough match for them.
The defeat against Al-Fateh might have surprised everyone but it was quite natural after they had been on a winning streak. I don't think Al-Ahli will need long to recover from their previous defeat and I'm sure they will win again in the match against Al-Taawoun. For a strong team like Al-Ahli who has such a thorough depth of European players, it's impossible for them to lose 2x in a row and I think the previous defeat is a failure they can't stop. If you look at the previous meetings between the two teams, the results were quite dominated by a draw, but I don't see that result happening again later because it's clear that Al-Ahli now has a better squad so that they can get a much better victory.
3763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: September 06, 2023, 12:11:59 PM
I think the matter of Kylian Mbappe's future isn't supposed to be the a case of discussion now that the transfer window is over. Kylian Mbappe is a Paris Saint Germaine player and will continue to be their player till the end of the summer. Luis Enrique has been given all the necessary backings he needs to succeed in his first season as a PSG manager.
Though Mbappe wants to leave the French capital to continue his footballing career, but it's been reported in the media that he's going to sign a one year contract extension with the club so he can be sold for reasonable amount of money when he'll be leaving next summer.

Indeed, but there may be a special agreement issued for PSG and Mbappe. So let's just see. Actually, Mbappe's performance in some matches looks improved because there are other factors. PSG's incoming transfers are quite good as Dembele, Muani, Asensio. So actually PSG did a good game. So they were quite good in their last game. The doubtful thing may be that for Europe, they will probably have a hard time competing in Europe.
Talking about Mbappe, it seems that his relationship with PSG president Al Khelaifi has improved and it seems that the owner also says that Mbappe is an extraordinary player. It is possible that we will see an agreement to extend his contract for another year or more precisely until the summer of 2025. So it is possible that Mbappe will not leave for free and PSG will of course be very willing to let him go to any club, especially Real Madrid, who really want him. But the focus now is that Mbappe is focused and his mind is only on PSG and for European competition it seems that we cannot fully hope if he is still at PSG this season.

Al-Ittihad has again made an offer for Mohamed Salah and this time the amount is so fantastic 251 million euros. Could it be that this time it will be quite difficult for Liverpool to refuse the offer from the Saudi league team? and I think maybe that kind of money could be put to good use to buy new players next winter according to the club's needs. Mohamed Salah is already 31 years old and Liverpool should start thinking about who will be his successor. But the problem is that if Mohamed Salah leaves at the start of this season it will clearly be a loss for Liverpool because they have not prepared a suitable replacement. Now Liverpool will definitely be very confused by this big offer and let's see what steps Liverpool take.
It is surely unbelievable that Al Ittihad wants to pay 251 million euros for Salah. Although he is a top player, he is no longer a young player and he may already pass his golden performance. Although he still contributed well for Liverpool now, we don't know what to happen with him in the next 1-2 years. He can drop his performance because he is getting old, and it is not impossible if he begins to have injured problem.

I assume Liverpool will consider to sell Salah if Al Ittihad wants to wait until the season is over. I doubt if Liverpool wants to sell Salah in this season. He still has a big role for Liverpool, it will be difficult to get his replacement. But for selling him in the end of the season, it is very possible because Liverpool has a lot of time to look for his replacement.

Al-Ittihad wants to do this because they really want to build a team dominated by European players and maybe the Saudi league also needs more exposure so that it can continue to present matches between football stars from this season. Indeed, that is the most worrying thing because everyone or even Salah himself does not know that his prime period will end due to age or actually experiencing an injury during that time.

That could happen considering what Liverpool wants, but the problem is, do Al-Ittihad want to wait for Salah until the end of the season? I think this opportunity is very rare, especially since Liverpool's finances are not at all good. But indeed, if Liverpool want to sell Salah now, then they must be prepared for the consequences for this season's competition.

Even though in their opening game Reims lost against Marseille, so far they have had pretty good results. They almost got 3 consecutive wins if they didn't get a draw last week against Metz. Apart from that, winning 7 points from 4 matches has put them in 4th place in the standings. Reims is not like last season which was famous for its strong defense and so far they have conceded 5 goals. However, I think Reims will still show their usual performance because it is still early in the season and their next opponent is Brest, which they should be able to overcome this time.

I rarely see saudi player got big name. This is also the main reason saudi was prefer in buying the western player instead of developing their own players. We shall also go back to the main aim by saudi club to host 2030 world cup.
This is the only way to increase people's awareness to the saudi pro league. I remember when people considered the Saudi Pro League as a low-level league compared to other leagues like the Chinese League or even MLS..

Saudi is just trying to change that bad image owned by its football league.
Saudi Arabia know if football is the most popular sport and they want to popularize or make more money through football. Obviously they have spend a lot money for buying many European players, but in the long term, they have a chance to make money.

I'm not really sure with the other sports, but if Saudi Arabia is successfully popularize their country through signing European players in football, I believe they will do same to the other sports.
It looks like other sports will follow later and perhaps the only focus of the Saudis at the moment is to provide a place for everyone who wants to watch all the stars in the same place. We know the magical power of football is deeply embedded in the minds of almost everyone in the world and the Saudis succeeded did it without hesitation by spending so much money to get autograph from famous european players. I think Saudi will monitor the development of the results from the start of this season and if it goes well then there will be other things that they have definitely prepared to further retain their audience.

In the third game week, Stuttgart might be one of the teams that is quite surprising. Even though last season they were quite stuck at the bottom of the standings and at the start of this season they got quite good results by winning 2x from 3 matches. But not only that, even last week Stuttgart managed to beat Freiburg with a landslide score of 5-0 and that was an unexpected result. We know that Freiburg was quite consistent last season by finishing in 5th position but they were so easily beaten by Stuttgart. Apart from that, Stuttgart's mainstay striker, Sehrou Guirassy, has scored 5 goals so far and placed his name at the top of the Bundesliga top scorer list this season.

The things that surprised me is stuttgart was winning 5 goals against bochum and freiburg but it was also losing 5 goals against leipzig. The overall performance from stuttgart was good but there must be some improvements especially on the defensive line.

Stuttgart may able to fight for the midtable right now. The consistently during the early season will help the club a lot in getting the chance to stay in the higher position as long as possible.

Stuttgart just need to be even more consistent, but this club has not yet faced the strong club. Im feeling doubt once stuttgart will face the clubs like bayern munchen or bayern leverkusen.

I can just say GG for this club after beating freiburg with huge scores.
Indeed, this is a good and strange result, Stuttgart can score a lot of goals but can also concede a lot of goals. I think their defense line is not completely good and maybe it will be quite difficult for them to be consistent when they face other strong teams later. It seems that mid-table is a realistic target for Stuttgart at the moment considering they have had a good start and it's just a matter of how this team can adapt to the competition to be better. It will be very difficult against Bayern Munich and Liverpool with Stuttgart's current quality and it is clear that they will lose if they meet these two teams, but if they face Union Berlin or Dortmund, it is likely that Stuttgart will still make it quite difficult for both of them.

Newcastle have really disappointed with their games, especially the game against Brighton... I'm not surprised they lost the games against Liverpool and Man City because they were really tough matches... Now they can't lose in the next ones and lose points...
Newcastle start to this season was very bad, their performance was very different from last season. After appearing ferocious in the opening match of the season by beating Aston Villa with a final score of 5-1, Newcastle seemed to have lost their enthusiasm to play in the next match. The defeats of Manchester City and Liverpool might be used as an excuse that the opponents they faced were strong teams, but the defeat to Brighton was truly unexpected, especially since Brighton managed to score their goal three times.

Three consecutive defeats is not a good achievement for Newcastle, they must immediately improve their performance to rise from their slump. A team like Newcastle should be able to provide new challenges in the Premier League, they have sufficient funds to bring in quality players, but their movement in the transfer market looks so relaxed.
Even the big win against Aston villa surprised me a lot and after that I'm pretty sure they'll be back for another surprise in the following weeks. But it couldn't be avoided because after successfully silencing Aston Villa, Newcastle had to play several quite tough matches and it could be said that their chances of winning were very slim. However, we can understand the defeat against Manchester City or Liverpool, but when they played against a team of almost the same level as Brighton and actually lost with a quite convincing score, perhaps we could say that the players did not have more confidence after the two previous defeats. Maybe it is true that Newcastle is not like last season, but this is still the start of the season and we certainly hope that Eddie Howie can solve this problem.

Sergio Ramos is back at Sevilla!  Grin

I must admit that I wasn't waiting for this to happen. Because there were teams after him with much better contract offers. There were Saudi teams and Galatasaray. After turning down the Saudi I wondered if he was going to sign for Galatasaray. Because you know there have been rumours like he would join them on the condition that they qualify for the Champions League groups.

However he is back at home, Sevilla. I won't be surprised even if he decides to retire here but I don't know at what age he would like to retire. Do you think we would watch him in another place before he retires?
Sergio Ramos gave the reason why he chose to return to Sevilla rather than accept an offer from another team because it was a feeling of respect for his father and grandfather who had been fans of Sevilla for a long time. Even though Al-Ittihad offered a salary of 30 million euros, Galatasaray gave a salary of 8 million euros, while Sevilla only gave a salary of 1 million euros and he preferred to return to his old club, which he had left for 18 years. From this we can see why he turned down the big offer and maybe indeed returning home is what he needs most right now rather than making more money elsewhere. I think it's likely that Sevilla will be his retirement place and it's unlikely he'll be interested in trying something at another team.

Talking about Sevilla they are the king of Europa league because Sevilla as the most champion on that competition but in champion league if i am not mistaken last time they were qualified to knockout stage was 2021 and at that time they can able to advances to round of 16 but they were eliminated by Dortmund and actually the competitions between group B is not so hard because the strongest team on that group is only Arsenal but the most problem is Sevilla had facing several issues which make until now they were still struggle to gets their first winning this season and i think this is interesting because i want to know which teams will be able to qualified along with Arsenal whether it PSV, Sevilla or Lens
I think of all the teams in group B, the ones likely to qualify are Arsenal and PSV. It's not meant to belittle Sevilla and Lens because so far both of them have fallen so badly in the domestic league. Because of that it is impossible for both of them to compete more competitively in the champions league competition. Apart from that, instead of targeting the Champions League, and as we know, for many seasons, Sevilla prefers to dominate the European League, which has become a place to collect trophies. So, in my opinion, it is quite clear that Arsenal will win the group, but if Sevilla and Lens can put pressure on PSV, it is possible that we will know the group runners up from these three teams.

Yannick Carrasco has arrived in Saudi Arabia and will soon be introduced as a new Al-Shabab player. It seems that the negotiations between Al-Shabab and Atletico Madrid are going quite smoothly and this is the first European signing for Al-Shabab this season. In the near future Yannick Carrasco will also undergo a medical test before the official announcement and his contract will last 3 years. The costs incurred by Al-Shabab were also not too expensive, around 15 million euros for Atletico Madrid. After previously having an adventure in the Chinese league, now a new adventure awaits Yannick Carrasco in the Saudi league which has become a trend for other European players.

At age 30 I expect him to be playing in one of the top leagues in Europe, he's a very fine player and it was sad to see him move over to Chinese league last season because of money, but atleast he's made a good decision this season by coming out of the deadleague to a better one where we'll be heard on in the news and I believe that with the experience he's got while playing for Athletico Madrid it won't be difficult blending into the Saudi side.
Yannick Carrasco would make a fine upgrade to his new team and I think he might not be the only player that would join Al-Shabab if you noticed they suffered a great lose against Al-Nassr so they'll definitely need more upgrade to strengthen them and that's what's trending in all Saudi clubs currently and since their transfer window is still open till month end they've got lots of time to lure more players into their team.
Apart from that, Yannick Carrasco will be on the same team as Ever Banega, who has previously joined Al-Shabab since 2020. We know that the figure of Ever Banega is certainly familiar to our ears because he played for Inter and also Sevilla in European competitions. Another long-standing achievement is bringing Argentina to win the Olympic medal in 2008 with Lionel Messi.

I don't think Al-Shabab will be satisfied with just signing Yannick Carrasco and as you said the possibility of other signings for Al-Shabab will still be open as long as the summer transfer market has not closed for the saudi league. If you look at the previous defeat against Al-Nassr, it means that this time Al-Shabab must get a strong defender or a good goalkeeper to prevent this from happening again.
3774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 05, 2023, 06:13:41 AM
I think Chelsea's fault this season is because they have sold all their main players in the summer and even they barely spared their players last season. Regeneration is very good for a team, but it would be better if it was done gradually, not immediately by doing it as a whole from all lines. We can see that the Chelsea squad this season is filled with almost 80% of new players and it's not that they can win consistently but actually get almost the same results as last season. If the previous players were retained and with the arrival of Pochettino, of course he would be able to get better results. Even with the purchase of large-scale players this season, it hasn't made Chelsea any better and they just seem to be wasting a lot of money with players whose quality isn't commensurate.

Waking up to discover Eric Bailly's transfer to Besiktas finalised on Fabrizio Romano's Twitter account. Manchester United has released another player this season, this time a defender who has been unreliable and prone to injuries. Erik Ten Hag did not include him in his season initiatives, therefore the Red Devils provided him the green light to leave this summer. It's obviously awesome news for the Ivorian footballer who is leaving Old Trafford for a new team. As a result of the new boss's indifference, he will now get typical regular game time.

At least now Eric Bailly is much freer and his decision is very correct to join Besiktas. Actually, since the beginning of joining Manchester United he was a good defender, but over time he lost his performance due to injury and his name began to fade. Erik ten hag is a perfectionist coach and when a player doesn't meet his criteria of course he leaves that player out of the squad list. So it is not surprising that Erik ten Hag's firm leadership also had a direct impact on Eric Bailly's career. It looks like Eric Bailly will be very comfortable playing in the Turkish league and we will see him smiling again this time.

The goal scored by Jude Bellingham against Getafe last week means that his name is now level with Cristiano Ronaldo as the scorer of 5 goals in 4 matches for Real Madrid. This seemingly impossible feat has now been achieved by this young Englishman and everyone is still amazed by his performances every week for Real Madrid this season. What he has done so far has exceeded everyone's expectations and he will definitely never stop contributing. I'm still curious what other records he will break as a Real Madrid player in the near future and Jude Bellingham is probably the single best signing for this summer.
I'm really worried that in the end you just keep talking about Bellingham but ignore more problems about Real Madrid right now. Real Madrid is not just about Bellingham, even though he has been a phenomenal player, but there are other things you need to pay attention to so that what you want to talk about doesn't get boring.

I know Bellingham is one of the best attacking midfielders, but the main problem Real Madrid is facing is the declining performance of its attack line because it doesn't have a quality striker. Vinicius is injured, Joselu doesn't contribute much, while Rodrygo doesn't always appear consistent.
Didn't we know from the start that it was doubtful that Real Madrid would find it difficult to win because they lost their main goalkeeper who was injured before the competition started? After that, it was even the turn of one of their defenders to suffer an injury and of course I already knew that before you explained all this. It has become a hot topic of discussion because Real Madrid does not have a number 9 striker this season, but in fact who has been the key to Real Madrid's victory from the first match until now? isn't it all because of Bellingham? Well, even though it seems like you are pushing me into a corner, I have always followed Real Madrid's developments and am I wrong to talk about the quality of Jude Bellingham who has always appeared consistently in every match so far?

Anyway, it's true that Vini is injured, but I don't agree with your statement that Joselu didn't contribute much because he wasn't Ancelotti's starting choice for the season and if Vini wasn't injured, how could we have seen Joselu start last week's match? he even scored his first goal for Real Madrid in the match against Getafe and sparked the enthusiasm of his colleagues to make a comeback. For Rodrygo, it's true that he doesn't appear very consistent, he often wastes opportunities that can actually be put to good use if he wants to give assists to his colleagues.

Lyon is still getting very bad results in the fourth week and this time PSG is their nightmare in the home game. From the first minute Lyon was heavily attacked by PSG and they conceded 4 goals in the first half. This advantage is very impossible for Lyon to catch up and PSG is certain to win with this landslide score. Lyon was only able to shorten the defeat with 1 goal which they scored at the end of the match. Very very bad results put Lyon at the bottom of the standings and PSG are so confident at the top and only two points away from Monaco.

I would like to call it worst rather than bad. The current situation is relatively worst when Lyon suffered defeats here and there. I saw that if lyon was just losing its chemistry. Desynchronization has become a major issue within the club and has been happening frequently.
The members of the club played individually, but unfortunately, the team is currently struggling with the worst defensive line. Lyon deserves to lose with huge scores against PSG caused by the quality from the club was just proving if lyon was not worthy enough to win the game against PSG.
I dunno how long needed by lyon regain its good performance but this is unlikely to happen in a short time. It has not even worth to watch the game play showed by lyon.

There must be a big evaluation to happen with the club. I must be honest if lyon played like a medriocre team. It is not even the same with lyon last season.
Everything become even worse for this club. I hope lyon will slowly changed its game play to be even better.
Is it possible that the departure of several players this summer has made Lyon vulnerable on all fronts? If you refer to transfermarkt data, there are indeed several players who have left and actually I don't know whether these players were previously key players or not. For example, Bradley Barcola to PSG, Castello Lukeba to Leipzig, or Romain Faivre to Bournemouth and if you look at each player's position, they are certainly quite influential in the squad.

However, there were other things that also influenced Lyon's failure, such as the absence of Dejan Lovren who was still injured and also the absence of their top scorer last season, Alexandre Lacazette, who received a red card in the previous match against Montpellier. But if you look at the situation this week, it is likely that Alexandre Lacazette has been free from the red card penalty and can strengthen Lyon again in attack.

Unlike last season when Empoli managed to embarrass Juventus at home and now it seems Juventus have succeeded in getting revenge with a 0-2 win away from home last night. Juventus are getting more confident every week and even though last week they only drew against Bologna, at least they can get back to winning ways after beating Empoli. We can see that now Juventus are in 3rd position and of course they have no doubts at all being competitors to win the Scudetto this season. Juventus is only 2 points away from the Milan duo who currently both have 9 points in the standings.

Juventus is slowly but surely building slowly to build a solid team which of course takes quite a long time, overhauling all the management and players is certainly not an easy thing, it definitely requires a process, where Juventus is running well this season it is certainly a good achievement to be able to win important matches even though they don't participate in Europe, of course it will make it easier for Juventus to focus on winning the Scudetto this season.

In fact, Juventus broke into Empoli's goal several times but Dusan Vlahovic's penalty was saved by the Empoli goalkeeper and several goals scored by Paul Pogba were disallowed by the referee. The score was likely that Juventus could have achieved a big victory last night, but the score was 0-2 for Juventus' victory. Seems like that's much more than enough...
That's right, especially within the club there are still a number of things that need to be fixed and while waiting for all of that to be finished, Juventus must stay focused on the main competition. It is true that this season Juventus only works in Serie A and they are not tied to any European competition. But we definitely hope they can get their Champions League zone back for next season.

Regarding the results of the match, I followed suit and apparently Vlahovic was unlucky in executing the penalty. However, thanks to Chiesa who managed to widen Juventus' lead in the 82nd minute, La Vecchia Signora became even more confident in their victory.

~~

The two teams that competed in the quarter-finals last season, namely Benfica and Inter, will be in group D for this season's Champions League. Both will be accompanied by Salzburg and Real Sociedad, who are also newcomers this season. If we look at the competition in Group D, it is very likely that Inter will win the group and for the runners up it will be a battle for the other 3 teams. I'm not underestimating Benfica but Real Sociedad and Salzburg were also quite competent in domestic league competition last season so anything can still happen. It seems that group D will also be quite a surprising group and in my opinion the ones who will qualify for the next round are Inter and Real Sociedad.

Last season, I predicted that Inter would be defeated by Benfica. but the fact is that Inzaghi was able to work around his strategy, which in the end Benfica had to fall over Inter Milan. This season there are several Benfica players who have left, so I don't really know how they are currently performing. However, referring to the domestic league, Benfica remains the team in the top four of the standings. So, it's interesting for us to wait.
while for Real Sociedad, I don't have a picture for the squad for this team from the Spanish league. I don't mean to underestimate them, but it seems difficult for Sociedad to compete to be runners up or group winners. while for Salzburg, it's the same as Real Sociedad. these two teams, have to work hard to compete in the Group D phase.

As for Inter Milan, they should be able to carry out their matches in this competition as they did in domestic competitions. Currently Inter is at the top of the Serie A standings, there is a big possibility that Inter will win the group. But, this is only assumption and temporary speculation. to find out more, we must follow him.
I also thought like you, even though at that time Benfica was unstoppable and always won big, but again, a team like Inter is an opponent that has history in this competition. Goncalo Ramos is leaving this season, which makes me think that it is possible that Benfica will have difficulty gaining a position to qualify for Group D and we can see that Benfica's match results in the domestic league are also less than optimal. I mean, usually Benfica always wins with a landslide score over their opponents, but now they have quite a hard time doing that and often only achieve narrow wins. However, I actually still hope that Benfica can be like last season and as you said, this is only temporary speculation and apart from that, all developments between these teams will continue.
