Holy quote wall batman.

Very very interesting how you guys are talking about washington power hikes. What do you guys think about labrador, CAN? There's already a few datacenters being built there (GND comes to mind, I host some hardware up there), and power is dirt cheap (2.5c/kwh).

I think its very much possible that even with no increase in efficiency of hardware that the hashrate can still skyrocket, if bitmain can "spam" cheap miners and host them in places with ultra-cheap electricity. I think the key reason that they don't do this is because of a huge amount of uncertainty about bitcoin's future--after all, if btc dies for whatever reason then they will have overinvested in paperweights!

Well price under 2.5 cents is a winner.

As for bitmain 'spamming' cheap miners I do not think so  they are pretty smart.
Spamming scrypt miners cheaper and cheaper killed scrypt mining.
I THINK  bitmaintech know better.  I hope they know better.

Does anyone have a rough idea how soon a plug n play miner might be able to hit the market? Sounds like from a month to 3 months... It all sounds great on paper, but I've been burnt big time by KNC and I'm very vary going forward mining from home.

I currently just buy coins and only mine in small amounts now. I do have free power, but the hardware ROI is big concern, I just hope it is well priced. I cannot take another big hit like I did with KNC.

With free power you do not have to be the first one to purchase . Ie wait and see how well they ship.

When they sold gridseed gear they sold a lot of it.  For the most part people got the gear  quickly.

37685  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: May 3rd to May 14th diff thread. not open for picks yet. on: May 05, 2015, 03:25:04 AM
Until next gen hardware comes out, we probably would only expect nominal difficulty increases right?

Pretty soon... https://bitcoinmagazine.com/20247/new-mining-chip-developed-sfards-becomes-efficient-chip-produced/

Hopefully the giant mining farms don't grab them before everyone else.

We will have to wait and see if it does well at the wall. I also suspect if it mines well btc-ltc.

ltc will take a solid price hit. Still they made a nice chip for ltc last year.  It was not good for btc or btc + ltc

maybe it has the same issues as last year.
37686  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: May 3rd to May 14th diff thread. not open for picks yet. on: May 05, 2015, 03:14:50 AM
Early numbers are okay:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty        (-2.18%)

https://www.coinbase.com    240 usd

More trivia

last 12 adjustments :

6 Negative 6 Positive

http://btc.blockr.io/charts

140 blocks made  on 5/3/2015    about   59 in this adjustment.   sooooo we are a bit behind pace  -1 or so.
130 blocks made  on 5/4/2015    this puts us at 15 behind pace

we have made 185 blocks we should be at 200 blocks

this is (-7.25%)

only 185 blocks do not give a pick  until 300 blocks. I will let you know when
Also    no changing your pick.  Just too much work.

 No picks yet.

37688  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 43 blocks solved! on: May 05, 2015, 01:44:56 AM
I had a bitcoin I bought earlier today burning a hole in my pocket, so I rented some hashpower, within a few minutes I had a share over 1G, a few minutes later another share over 3G, a few minutes later my best share was lower meaning someone found a block, surely it wasn't me after only mining with my rentals for 20 minutes. I couldn't believe it when I saw my new address as the payout. I picked it because it had 7's in it and hashesez, I liked to think it was my lucky address because it "hashes easy" lol

Man this is addicting and I'm finally out of the red!

very nice now have some fun with it.

New member  and a low price.  I suggest escrow. I do not want to read a sob story about this.

BTW if they do 9th they are about 8 s-5's  that is 2918  from bitmaintech  and 4 evga 1300 psus or about 3500

So it is a good price just be careful.

@ op request this to be moved and post some photos

At Herbpean   I believe in the  concept of universal money with access to all.

I know but it's not everyone in your situation that would do this same with his time ;-)

You do all of this honestly, it's really cool in my book Tongue

The advantage of being 58 years old is 'been there done that' takes over.

I never worry about a phone call or a knock on the door.  Honesty can be very rewarding thing.

LOL I turn 58 in 12 days  Shocked

50's can be okay if your body is hanging in there pretty well.

I was lucky as I  quit all drugs in 1985 when I met the wife except for cigarettes. I  quit them in 1996.  So my body is okay and my mind is not fried.  I know better so to speak.

Good for you Phil. I can say I never was into the drugs or cigs. So other than hard work that I now pay for with a bad back  I retired last year started pulling my pension but took an inspection job watching the crews to make sure they do the job right and work safely.

Lets pop a fast block! Maybe before jonnyBravo lands...

I fronted his coin  as I did not feel like waiting on him to start.  So he owes me 1 coin.
As I trusted his promise of payment when he gets off the plane. Not much of a problem if we hit he gets paid.

So he could actually  hit the block without paying  Grin   Grin

37694  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do you think mining will be profitable again ? on: May 05, 2015, 12:24:26 AM

With miner's they have to use them before until they sell.   They are a item that loses money if they put it in a box and wait for sale.  And most are made in batches meaning there are more miners then will be sold immediately.

If they don't announce them and run them yes it's a different thing.   But if plugged in until it sales I would consider this normal.

While this may be considered normal behavior for a Bitcoin mining manufacturer in the last year or so, it's not normal behavior for a whole host of other vendors. Think Automobile dealer for example. Their new cars sitting on the lot depreciate, though much less quickly than mining gear. You could argue that they should rent them until somebody actually buys them, but there are a whole host of constraints on that kind of behavior in the US. Would you buy a "new" car that already had 3000 miles on it? What about a GPU manufacturer 2 years ago?

I would argue that this definition of "normal behavior" has been forced on purchasers over the last 12-18 months. I don't know if BFL was the first one to do it or not, but it's certainly not limited to them.

Most cars are not a machine that makes money.
so to use a car is tough to think it is the correct comparable.

This is not an easy industry.  We are now in tough times with tight profits. Not sure what will happen in the long run. It would be nice to see a price runup.

At Herbpean   I believe in the  concept of universal money with access to all.

So  to all  our orders are:

 #372179 at  Westhash--------50th at 0.0097
 #372152 at  Nicehash---------50th at 0.0097

both orders mine to this address:

http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1CqbvmuJcLFDFzFewKmBVAaghXEtByzY9Y

the 50th stays at 50th.  rates will be 0.0091 to 0.0101  I manually adjust them as best I can.

If prices go over 0.0101

I freeze order no coins lost.  I resume order when rates drop back under 0.0101

So if a new paycoin comes around an rates go nuts. we stay frozen.

This order is about 6 days with no freezes.  15 day max for order with tons of freezes if can happen with a hot 'paycoin' event.

in this case funds are auto funded even the 2 percent fee.

I like this type of mining as the 'rush' vanishes for at least 6 days.
