I too will offer a large percentage for Mr Shavers.
I purchased bad in a very large amount and would be very generous with any recovery.
+1 to this. I'm sure more people will chip in a generous percentage if you manage to get Shavers to pay up.

I do a cursory review over the first 4 characters after the 1, and the last 4 characters whenever I send or copy addresses. That's enough to prevent my coins from falling in wrong hands, unless the situation DannyHamilton outlined in the past page occurs.(and no coins would be lost in this case anyway, just a delay in receiving/sending the coins)

Some Bitcoiners aren't that old remember. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I've just finished my college applications to US so that gives you a good estimate of my age. I wished I had advertised for college application guidance now.... Yeah that I'm aware of-I didn't know you were that young, I would have been happy to help. Maybe I can tutor bitcoiners. I'm going to add college application assistance to my tutoring description-thanks for the idea! If you don't mind saying, what are some schools you applied to? MIT, Harvard and a few other Ivies. I'm also applying to liberal arts colleges like Claremont McKenna, Bucknell and mid-to-top tiers like Lehigh, Northwestern. Which college are you in now?

If you change your mind about shipping in the US, you could drop me a PM with the ballpark range of a price you deem acceptable. Otherwise I'll have to wait for a friend to pass one for me...

1 in 2^256
Wrong. Since a hash collision is all that's required, the odds are actually 1 in 2^160, or 1 in 1,461,501,637,330,902,918,203,684,832,716,283,019,655,932,542,976 if you prefer. more than the atoms in the universe
Actually, it's less than the best estimate of the number of atoms in the universe by over 30 orders of magnitude, which is about the difference between the width of a human hair and the extent of the observable universe. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Please do your research before claiming that all "really big" numbers are equally "really big". I was under the impression that the bitspace encompasses the entire 2^256 range. Learnt something new today. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Correct me if I am mistaken, but no matter how unlikely it seems, it is possible that someone will randomly generate this key tomorrow. Of course a brute force attack will take a mind blowing amount of time, but I don't think that is focal point of our discrepancy.
It's also possible someone will experience a DNA mutation and bear offspring tomorrow with blue skin, a long tail, and the overall appearance as seen in the movie Avatar. My undergrad knowledge of biology is not enough to dispute this, but it seems you have agreed with me at least. The hyperbole practically screams semantics! It would also be possible that someone would generate MT.Gox's cold storage address or one of those highly endowed addresses too.

Now there is somewhat low resonance.. I believe you started with details too quick. Sure, I enjoy talking about "shall we use ssl- or gpg-encryption?" as much as everyone else around here.. But somehow, in my view, you missed to state what exactly your project does, and in what points it does better than what we have now. That is, in a few, simple, totally non-tech sentences. A "conclusion" for executive level decision. Like, you know, people first decide if a tool seems useful, and then have a second look if it is safe and sane ;-)
Thanks Ente and yes unfortunately I am 100% "no salesman" (too interested in the tech and software). Let me try and describe "in a nutshell" what CIYAM Open is: "It's a way of organising, funding and paying for contributions of tasks for projects (be they open source software projects or even say NGO's) that is 100% open and audit-able by the general public". (yes still too many words - any Marketing gurus want to trim that down for me?) I believe this is actually a first of it's kind (but am not trying to make too "bold a claim" and am happy to be corrected if wrong). The rest (and there is a lot) I will try and communicate in small chunks in the coming weeks and months (it took literally years to create this system and will probably take me at least a whole year to fully describe it unfortunately - but don't worry I will be dedicating all my working days and nights to doing this from now on). You could try comparing it with indiegogo and other crowdfunding site, and state your advantages/focuses as compared to them. I'm no marketing guru, but a simple comparison with another existing service might be the easiest way to introduce it to someone new. PS: I'm still working out on CIYAM Open's details though, so my analogue above might be way off.

I have read that it is possible to buy certain GPUs and get return on investment within several months. I had been hoping to solicit some advice in this department.
Also, as you said, my current rate is pretty bad. Should I expect more from my current graphics card (Specs above) or is it a lost cause?
Thanks!
Almost lost cause, don't bother much to tweak it more. That statement is true some time ago, but as for now with the reward halving and the advent of ASIC's, you'll be lucky to get your investment on GPU's back in 1 year without factoring in wear and tear.
