3781  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon musk now the richest man in earth on: October 18, 2021, 10:14:06 AM

My question is can Elon musk sustain this new found financial spot for how long? We have seen bill gate coming back to this spot from time to time and occupying it for a longer time. Now that Elon musk is said being the richest in the world , is he going to keep to this status longer or we are yet going to hear another story of selling off assets because Elon musk is now known as a public stage man Grin Roll Eyes So what do you think?

Well, I think they will be exchanging places in the top 10 Richest People in the World. I mean all of them, those who specialize in modern technologies, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, anyone of them can take first place at one point. Or, they can be replaced by guys like them, technological innovators, but hardly by old-timers like Warren Buffett and Bernard Arnault. And I don't mean their age. I mean their state of mind.
3782  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: *Day Traders* are now calling gambling Addiction helplines!! on: October 18, 2021, 09:33:59 AM
--snip--
(I have wasted more than $10k in commodity market by 2007 to 2009 and if I would have bought bitcoin for some 10% of that money then I would have been a billionaire right now; only a time machine might solve all these frustrations).

Even I was asked to put in the exact amount you're talking about, i.e.; $1k (INR 50k at that time). During 2011, I was asked by a friend who wanted to sell his 10k BTC at just INR 5 per BTC (which is roughly $0.1). But my dad thought that this is a scam, ponzi and whatnot and he denied while I tried my level best to make him believe in this. No matter what we do, we will always have something to regret about, and even in trading, if we would have longed BTC at $3500 in futures at even 10x leverage with just $1k, we would have made a fortune after BTC making an ATH of $65 grand.

Guys, these stories are very similar to something like this: "I rolled 99.99 on a dice site the other day, but I bet with $0.001 only, and won 10 bucks. If I'd bet $30, which were on my balance at the time, I'd win almost $300k!"

See? That's why they say crytpo trading is very similar to gambling, and that's why some day traders are now calling those helplines. Be careful.

They just added this to the site a couple of days ago. You are correct in your statement: for 594 RP you can activate a 24h bonus, where you will get 1 WOF spin per free roll you do in that time period.
I am also planning to try this out!

Here's my two biggest wins within 24 hrs since I purchased 1 WoF per free roll:

Considering that I paid 594 RP for that, it was a good deal.

Even though 1 WOF SPIN / ROLL costs 720 RP currently, I'll buy it and see what happens. From all the possibilities of redeeming your Reward Points, I like this one the most, so far.

I love this!

I was forgetting that there is the option "ENCASH YOUR POINTS"... I went to see and I had more than 400,000 RPs that I have already exchanged for 0.004 BTC  Shocked Grin Cheesy Cheesy

Congrats! 0.004 BTC is pretty good money these days. I'm just too impatient to wait for 100 RPs, so I'll try to win a Rolex or $1.5k iPhone with additional WoF rolls.  Grin

3784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Poker Rooms on: October 18, 2021, 07:33:36 AM
I immadietely thought of a good gambling room when you asked that. there are some good ones but I like SwC poker the most and I think many also like this gambling room. it's the first room I know in doing gambling and I think it's pretty good. some people have suggested you a good gambling room, you can choose it. My advice is to choose one that is safe and reliable and makes it easier for us to do gambling so that we are also calm in doing it.

Yes, it's true. Many people in this thread suggested SwC poker. This site  has been staying in the business for a long  time, and I've never read anything negative about it. Apart from recommending the site for experienced players, I would recommend it for beginners too. There are always some no-rake low stakes cash games going there, as well as free rolls in the Tournaments section.

3785  Economy / Gambling / Re: There isn’t a poker room you could win at ? on: October 16, 2021, 04:53:29 PM
I mean I do win against players, I can do it for a week, a month and even a year but I always lose to the house.

The rake and house wins, it’s like impossible to beat the house...

If you can't beat the house, it only means you are not that good at poker, and probably when saying that you win against other players, you are imagining things. I mean, everyone wins from time to time, even bad players do, but the key is to be winning most of the time, and I suspect this is not what's happening to you.
3786  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do soldiers who fight for money deserve to live? on: October 16, 2021, 11:32:55 AM
I think "soldiers who fight for money" should be the only soldiers in today's world. What can be more hideous than forcing people to fight, to kill others?

Only those who want to fight should join the military, only volunteers.

Do soldiers who fight for money deserve to live? Of course they do! Also, they deserve all the respect and more, because they fight against barbarian regimes of modern times. Many of them would do it even for free. Money is just a bonus for them.

And I disagree with @OgNasty on that we don't need an army in today's society. We do need it, mate. Unfortunately, we still need it badly.
3787  Economy / Economics / Re: Evergrande situation on: October 16, 2021, 09:52:14 AM
Can you say a bit more on this? I'm not that good in economics to know such nuances. I just think that GDP roughly shows the size of an economy. And since China's estimated GDP for this year($16.6 trillion) is huge in comparison to Evergrande's debt, $310 billion, I thought the Chinese government could cope with the situation. But maybe it's not that simple.
Countries cannot trivially borrow their entire GDP.

I might compare China bailing out Evergrande as comparable to someone making $100k/year, with no savings and already in debt to the tune of around $77k, and needing to take out a $2k loan. A lender might approve the loan but might not give this borrower its best terms. This person's other lenders also might react negatively to this person taking on this additional debt and might start offering worse terms when the borrower goes to refinance their debt as it comes due.

If Evergrande were to get bailed out, the Chinese government would be implicitly guaranteeing the entire $310bn in debt that Evergrande has, and China's other creditors would act accordingly.

I think I get it now, thank you for this great explanation! I think now I need only one clarification. In your example saying "already in debt to the tune of around $77k" did you mean that China's debt is expected to reach 69% of GDP by the end of 2021?

As far as I am aware, Evergrande not delivering their homes on time is in part being caused by poor market conditions, and not entirely because of poor management. If this is being caused by poor management, the Chinese government can replace Evergrande's managers, however, there is no guarantee the new managers can improve things enough.

Part of the reason why Evergrande has been struggling is that the Chinese government has taken steps to cool the housing market. The CCP wants to prevent the housing market from turning into a bubble that eventually pops, and having to deal with the associated social unrest to that happening. It is possible the Chinese government's actions have already damaged the housing market too much to prevent major declines in housing prices.

I think this shows that with a centrally planned economy government can harm its country even when having good intentions.

the importance of self control shouldn't be underestimated. Yes, having it is not enough to make money, but it's necessary to have it for not accidentally losing all you have.
Yeah, self-control is highly interlinked with risk management. Being discipline may not help in actual trading but may help to take timely decision. It means those highly skilled traders are still losing money just because of lack of self-control; our high level analytical skills will get voided if we do not have self-control.

Idk, I think there are fields where you can be highly skilled and earn good money with that, like coding, or UI designing, but I don't think that crypto trading is one of them. They say half jokingly: "TA is astrology for men". Well, I wouldn't go so far to say that TA is similar to astrology, because astrology is total BS. BUT there is still too much uncertainty there to think that being highly skilled and with good self control you can earn on a regular basis with trading activity.

Today was a good day for me,I bought the WOF bonus for 24 hours with 3200 RP yesterday night,I won about 30 free WOF plus 5 I have as a Premium Member and I won about 4500 Satoshi in total and 4000 RP in total and also about 1000 lottery tickets with such spins, surely I am going to use it everyday or until I lose every single RP.I convert my winnings to FUN tokens so I don't care if I don't make it to 100.000 RP to get 0.001 BTC,right now I am 69.000 RP in total though.

Is this something new? I didn't know this option existed. I just redeemed one to try it out:

But I'm not sure I understand it correctly. It's said: "Redeem your points to get free no-captcha Wheel of Fortune spins for every free roll!" Does this mean that by paying just 594 RP

I can potentially get 24 WoF spins? I can't believe my eyes, but if it's true, it's definitely worth trying.

I still think I’m confused about something here. @swogerino, you say you won 30 additional free WOF spins. But with what you paid, you could get 5  spins for every free roll. Did you just make 6 free rolls within those 24 hours?

Well, IMHO if you are rich it is stupid to not use your wealth. What is the purpose of it if not use it for whatever reason? Happiness isn't the only one and doing some research for something so individual as happiness is irelevant at all. You can use wealth for example for making life easier, more comfortable or just for aesthetical purpose.

Lets say I am very rich and have comfortable house which is a piece of architectonical art. I would like to go to holiday but I really hate hotels. Because of I can afford the same comfort as at home, I will simply buy a new house at my holiday destination. As years passed, I've collected a few houses all around the world.

You proposed a solution to the problem of corruption, and I'm trying to provide a more realistic one. I agree with that "if you are rich it is stupid to not use your wealth". But the thing is that many politicians are not rich(yet). They go into politics in hopes of becoming rich(mostly through bribes). And they will not stop taking bribes ever with that state of mind. It will never be enough money for them. That's why I think it's important to know the limit after which more money will not make you happier.
3795  Economy / Economics / Re: Evergrande situation on: October 14, 2021, 10:06:38 AM
Maybe I'm missing something, but to me it looks like a government bailout is pretty much possible, considering that China's GDP was around 102 trillion Yuan (16 trillion USD) in 2020, and estimated to be even higher this year.

I think this "Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece", the Global Times

should shut the f*ck up, and the Chinese government should deal with the situation.
It is not trivial for the Chinese government to bail out a company as big as Evergrande. The Chinese government cannot issue massive amounts of debt the same way the US government can, and the interest rate it needs to pay is almost twice that of what the US government pays.

There are also political problems with bailing out Evergrande. If Evergande gets bailed out, the government will start to get blamed when Evergrande cannot deliver homes on time.

Also I think if bailed out, Evergrande has low chances of failing to deliver homes on time. But again, it's an opinion of dilettante in economics. Smiley So, if you have time please explain.

It is obviously not enough, I do not know what he was saying but I can say based on what I have been doing so far I can say that it is definitely not something that would be horrible for people, it is definitely something that you would be able to profit from if you can have emotional control.

However it is definitely not enough, you need to be a good trader in order to make good returns as well, it takes a while to do that but you could do it nevertheless. I personally believe that I have emotional control but even with that I am not suddenly a good trader neither, I am a decent trader at best. So you need to learn how to trade very well on top of being able to control your emotions.

And yet being able to control your emotions is the key here. With that ability you will not lose a lot, at least.

To me it's still questionable whether we can learn how to be a good trader, poker player or sports bettor. I mean so good that we could make our living from those activities on the regular basis. So, the importance of self control shouldn't be underestimated. Yes, having it is not enough to make money, but it's necessary to have it for not accidentally losing all you have.

I just won 3500 lottery tickets on WOF from the daily spins (premium member) and 3500 reward points from the promotional email.

When it rains, it pours they said Grin (seriously, it's been raining the whole day here)

Indeed. Congrats mate! Once, earlier this year, I won 5,000 Reward Points and 5,000 satoshis in one day, but it was quite some time ago. It's always a pleasure to see someone's winning that big.

I can only relate, I don't feel disappointed anymore... In 5 years I didn't get in the top 10 even once! But I am still trying!

I can say the same. We'll never stop trying! Hopefully, one of us regulars of this thread wins big in the lottery one day. Smiley

TLDR: Sometimes FreeBitcoin is way worse, way better or about the same when you compare betting odds for events. It's false to say that most of the time betting favourites on FreeBitcoin is a better deal, especially with a small time multiplier.
~

It's true, but no one is forcing us to place bets when the betting odds are way worse, and it's not forbidden to place bets when the odds are way better.  Wink
