Well I've got over 200 sMerit to award, and I'll be looking for good posts, and good thread starters this weekend. So if you want to earn some merit, then get creative. Remember, I check for plagiarism, so don't steal other people's work. I don't like heavy formatting either, so I just skip over those posts, and I really hate posters who abuse the quote facility. Political, Bitcoin and other crypto, and technical are my favourite topics, so I'll be watching out for those posts. If you are worried about your English, then by now you should know how to improve it. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I'm back to having over 200 sMerits to award. I backed away from posting on Bitcoin Talk following suggestions that I was posting too much, but I still have to award all those sMerits to quality posters. I'll be reviewing posts and threads over the weekend, and I'll try to bring the Fit to Talk project up to date.
The crypto economy ( and that includes Bitcoin), political and technical are of special interest to me. So if you want those merits - get creative. Please note, I check for plagiarism, so don't do it. If you are concerned about the quality of your English, then run your post through the Fit to Talk project, you will still get the credit and the merits when you pst your edited comments in the Bitcoin Talk forum.

Use lemon juice or white vinegar. Squeeze the lemon juice into the flask, or add about an inch of white vinegar, top up with very hot water, and leave for a couple of hours. Warning, this is to remove the taste from the flask. Don't drink boiling water to remove mouth odours. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I've given up on TA. Some are saying that the latest drop was caused by the Bitcoin Cash hash war. It may have contributed, but there are other external factors at work as well. It is difficult to see how TA can help in anything but very short term trading. Fundamentals are far more important in my opinion.

May has done a brilliant job for her puppet masters. You must remember that she is a "remainer", and it is obvious that she has been working from a script. The Brexit result was a surprise to the Eton/Oxford elite, but with control of the UK parliament, the civil service, and the EU, they have managed to turn it into a victory, if nobody has the balls to implement the solution that is best for the UK ( a real Brexit under WTO rules initially). The current proposed solution removes people like Nigel Farage from the EWU parliament, and he was a disruptive influence, and it locks the UK into permanent slavery with no rights of self-determinatuon or departure. They can continue to milk the UK of its national assets, fishing and mineral rights, and its manufacturing base. They will be able to continue to push their unhealthy food and drugs to weaken the population as well.
When you think of the UK - do you think of a collection of countries with an intelligent, creative population, or do you think of the morphed British Empire the Eton/Oxford elite have created to dominate the world by debt and drugs?
ps. I thought that Michael Gove has resigned because of the rubbish deal, but it seems that he is continuing to support May. It's probably not surprising as he was educated at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.

I think you should try to alert the owner if you can track him down.
The more interesting question is - what do you do if you find a wallet on the hard drive of a salvaged computer?

I'm still planning out the structure for the club. I might have one other member, so that will make things easier.
Bitcoin is starting to look attractive again, so I might buy a few Satoshis to underpin the portfolio. That would make payments easier as well. At the speed I work, it wll probably take another month to plan out a structure. I'm still not sure if I should use Thermo Coin, or Diamond Crypto as a name for the share holding tokens. I'm also looking for some open source software for a proof of stake blockchain.

You are allowed to take actions without making a thread about it.
Of course, but by opening them up for discussion, one might be able to influence other members to support the action, and in some cases this can be beneficial for the forum. There are so many threads about the decline of Bitcoin Talk, and I hoped that I might be able to reverse this by gaining support for actions that the more serious members appear to support. I love Bitcoin Talk, and I hope that it won't slip further into the quicksand.

If you want to brush up on the Bitcoin Talk merit system. Here is my guide. It's written from the perspective of a merit source. The Bitcoin Talk merit systemIt's fairly old, so I will reread it to see if it needs to be updated.

One of the meriters has only received two merits, and he gave his sMerit for that post. That looks like the underworld looking after the spambies. It's why I try to keep merit away from them.

When have I ever said that Wales isn't a country. The reverse is true in fact. I state that Britain or the UK are not countries. Wales, Scotland, England, Ireland and others are countries. I have even campaigned for supermarkets to print real countries on products, and not the meaningless general term "British". For example, Wales has been famous for producing quality lamb for centuries, and they should state the real country of origin, and not risk being associated with some sanitised EU import. Here is an alternative avatar suggestion - https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQGtNesgNL5CEkVSGb-23Fb_9D6XBck0VhhsV58sWdmBQa6mnY5jackg, use the EU flag as your avatar then.
A bunch of stars running round in a circle - does he really want to be associated with that? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5025246.msg45456682#msg45456682I don't think that we should be posting spamming tools in the beginners board, even if they may be for other sites. It gives the forum a bad name. The OP is also begging for merit for his post as well. It things like this that discourage me from visiting the spammers training board ( sometimes known as the beginners board). and this is one reason I put Economics on ignore - 17 out of 32 posts quote the opening post. You know when you see that , that the replies won't be worth reading. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5062702

Is there no limit to "minutes" being asked while logging in ?
Total time logged in: 71 days, 6 hours and 54 minutes. I don't seem to have got there yet if there is. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

"one cent coins" has become a broader description than just a literal description. It is similar to "penny shares", and describes low cost assets that may have explosive growth potential. There are not too many of them, and choosing wisely is not an easy task. That is why I thought a private information exchange and discussion could be of mutual benefit.
As most people seem to diss the idea, I might just chuck £100 or so into a pot, and buy a few to see what happens. I'll post after the event with my justifications. If I lose the lot, then I can write it off to "education",

The question is as experience as we are, what should we do to support newbies so as to imbibe them in the knowledge of how to stay alive on the forum?
Most newbies are mules that have come here because plastic carrots have been dangled in front of them. They plod around on the boards wearing signatures without understanding the messages in the signatures, and then they complain when they realise that their carrots are fake, or somebody has cut the string that dangles them in front of their noses. What we want are newbies who are budding race horses, and then we can show them the winning posts and the prizes. We can also help them to become lean and fit, so that they can earn those prizes. No matter how good a trainer you are, you will never be able to train a mule to win the Grand National, however by discouraging a race horse, you can make it believe it is a mule.
|
|
|
Probably because you can display signatures, and you have more chance of gaining merits.

I guess that mostly happens to users using private proxies or vpn.
I suspect that this may be the problem. I have to login every time I switch between alts, and I use a variety of connection methods and computers. These incude an Androd mobile, a netbook running Ubuntu, and a notebook with Windows 10. Most of the time I use public Wifi, or direct or tethered connections through the mobile. Sometimes I use the ethernet connection at a library. I doubt if I have to solve a Captcha once a month. Most of the time it decides I am human, and lets me in.

I went on another awarding spree, and didn't find anybody. I put 2 guys on ignore though. One had bumped a 2015 thread with the single word "bump", and he wasn't a newbie.

I've put you on ignore to make sure that I don't give you any merit by mistake. Here are the reasons for this.
- Imagine the state of this board if every member started a thread about their first merit. Especially as with your post count, one merit is something to be ashamed of, not something to boasr about. - You quoted a long post, and this was not needed, and annoying. Not only that, but you requoted it with a redundant comment. - In my opinion the merited post wasn't worth it, and you drew attention to the awarder. - This thread appears to have been started in an apparent attempt to gain more merit, but it has probably been counter productive.

I've started 16 threads that are on the first page of the Ivory Tower board.
Starting a lot of threads isn’t as helpful as you seem to think it is. There are 40 threads on the first page of the index. The latest reply to the 40th thread is dated 30th July. If nobody started any new threads or replied, then the board would die. The reason I started this thread is because I agree that too many of the threads have been started by me, and I hoped that I could encorage a few more members to support the board. It seems that most people want to create posts to complain about spammers, but not support the spam free boards.
