Get some sidewinder deltas and you shouldn't have to worry about the case too much - they push 3-4 cubic feet of air a second! That's probably close to the volume of the case!

382  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Theoretical wait time on BFL 5.0Gh if ordered now? on: May 13, 2013, 11:33:05 AM
When asked this question by a UK user via BFL's official Twitter feed, the response was "two months".  I think someone spiked the water in Kansas City.

They have never been consistent once on any shipping date they have ever given. There is no reason to trust anything they say

Don't know what you're on about, it's been so consistent. 2 months. Always 2 months, in 2 months it'll be 2 months.

I noticed the other day a fan going very slowly and vibrating, bearings had gone and the hub motor smelled of badly burnt plastic. Careful guys!

I meant that anything similar will do the job well for DIY  Smiley

Wink  DIY is an option if you have the nerve and the understanding that you will probably wreck some chips and the beautiful boards that BKKCoins is designing.

Having said that I am seriously going to allow some 13 year olds a shot at doing 2 or 3 K16 these boards... if they can do it well I will be impressed.

That seems a bit too optimistic, most of my classmates in uni struggle to put together through hole circuits without messing up a few boards.

When's someone gonna take them to court then?
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fontas! on: May 12, 2013, 10:08:41 PM
So basically, doing the exact opposite of what fontas announces should make you profit a bit.
Aah, but sometimes I guess he changes his strategy Cheesy

Well the problem is, he's already driven up to price of the coins a little bit, by his buying activity before he even announces the coin.  So he is always guaranteed to win as long as he sells early and people continue to listen to him.

So in theory, yes you could profit a little bit, by doing the opposite of what he says, but at some point even you would lose that, because he's starting to even lose respect among the hurr durrs.

First few were very profitable if you weren't greedy.

I would be tempted to use an old netbook running on an atom processor as it would be easier to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong, but since I don't have an old netbook, I'll be using an RPi.

Dunno the lack of fan on the Rpi makes it seem more reliable to me!
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to calculate most profitable coin? on: May 12, 2013, 08:32:23 PM
how to calculate most profitable coin?

I know there are sites like CoinChoose and Dustcoin to reference. But I'm looking to write my own script to do it myself. These sites take too long between their queries, and I'd like to know how to do it myself in case these sites go away.

I have tried searching, but I haven't found anything helpful. Anyone know the process or know of any posts that explain the process?

Drop the admins of those sites a PM maybe? Ask for the basic algorithm.
389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 12, 2013, 10:38:10 AM
I've got zero chips so far as I'm only interested in buying finished units and from what I read bkk is making the K1 units from his own chip stocks, I'd just like to know how many he's planning to make and an idea how much a finished unit would cost(Chip and all)

You would have to have your own chips for these boards or any boards he makes. He does not supply chips from what I have read through in this thread. His supply is limited and I believe was even considering taking Avalon chips from people in trade for boards. There are number of chip buys right now... or maybe wait for others to use his designs to make singles later might be possible.

And Terrahash is making full retail products out of these boards with case and offering hosting if needed etc.
390  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New BFL update. 25 February 2013. on: May 12, 2013, 09:36:38 AM
Hmmm doesn't seem like they made this date either... are there a lot of these posts where they miss a deadline?

The 'deadlines' have generally been 2 weeks or two months, since June last year, and today they are still 2 months...
391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL: Chips have shipped, on their way to US on: May 12, 2013, 09:29:59 AM
Any news on the chips now?

More waiting, what are you expecting from BFL.

Best thing to do is try and imagine you never ordered, if/when it turns up its a nice surprise!

393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin maker on: May 12, 2013, 07:46:26 AM
My theory is that if anyone can make an altcoin, the market/forum will be totally flooded with garbage, which should hopefully start to make some standards for these altcoins. If it becomes really easy, some community moderation should come into effect.

Also, as proof to people who like investing in new altcoins that they are amazingly easy to make and not something to invest in.

I just wanna make this a quick fix as opposed to this slow monstrosity it is right now. It's getting to the point were a new subsection should be made for markets and ANNounce topics.

I know your feelings, even considered doing one myself but then I thought a. it'll have nothing new b. I'm not that much of a knob!
394  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Dark Shadow Creeping Over Our Forums - limitless on: May 12, 2013, 07:43:26 AM
this is why we need to have different passwords and account names for every pool you join, for everything. some poolop could be legit for months and months and build great rep, and suddenly seize every single account he can from pool logins/pws.

One tip if you really really can't remember multiple passwords - use a base one with the first/second letter of the website you're on added to the end!
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin maker on: May 12, 2013, 07:30:08 AM
even "handmade" altcoins right now are pumping out at like 1-2 a day.  those are failing miserably.  what makes you think that more altcoin is a solution of any kind?

It would turn altcoins into something else.

shmaltcoins

Regardless I dont really think this is a good idea.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: spreadsheet for Frankocoin?? on: May 12, 2013, 07:28:46 AM

I think I understood the post but I also suspect someone may have been smoking a few jazz cigarettes

Rubbieducke I know you feel Him. You saw what happened yesterday morning, he caused hysteria. Even now he stalks the forums with a scammer tag and all.

I agree with you there in so far as he seems to relish having the "scammer tag"

Junior members and newbies really need to more careful about who they trade with and how many coins they send at a time, I always insist on sending in increments unless the other person sends first!

cheers

Heh, he was quoted a few days back as saying something like "But I scammed that coin legit, not by spreading viruses or trojans"
398  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official CedarTec Topic - New ASIC [Scam?] on: May 12, 2013, 07:21:22 AM
Really, you think I care what some of you assholes think.
You represent yourself, no one else. And to you, FU

Evidently you do care. You've posted in this thread over 100 times and painted yourself as the village idiot in the process. We become more stupid every time we read one of your posts. Please just stop posting and go away.

Good luck stopping me from posting if you keep inciting me.
I will report back when I get a refund, still waiting

Maybe their reward for their lead troll and shill will be nothing at all? Ya never know!
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2 ("Netcoin"): A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: May 12, 2013, 07:06:25 AM
The number of coins in existence (money supply) would actually still continue growing when our sun becomes a red giant, billions of years from now

This bit I disagree on, I doubt anyone will still be mining the netcoin blockchain then... but you never know!
