382  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [MINING] CoiningSolutions.com Cointerra Shares ฿2 = 25GH/s [CLOSED] on: July 21, 2014, 11:31:45 AM
Why dont you just sell the cointerras? Like on ebay or something, then payout the profits to shareholders?
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Millionaire Coin (MIL) - Launched! on: July 17, 2014, 09:15:00 PM
I've been happily staking away since the coin was born Smiley

I think I may be one of only a few nodes literally still holding together this coin...
384  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lowest Difficulty increase in a while! on: July 13, 2014, 11:42:26 PM
Or more simply. If mining ASICs dont improve their GH/Watt quick enough then they become unprofitable.
There are currently no ASICS that come anywhere near close to giving a solid ROI.
385  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lowest Difficulty increase in a while! on: July 12, 2014, 11:02:41 PM
And now the Cointerra's that go at 1.4TH/s are at break even of worse with their massive power consumption.
Maybe a bunch of people switched them off?
386  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lowest Difficulty increase in a while! on: July 12, 2014, 11:00:17 PM
I find the bitcoin wisdom chart more informative.

387  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Lowest Difficulty increase in a while! on: July 12, 2014, 10:51:33 PM
A mere 3.08% increase in difficulty this time round Smiley Smiley
Is this the future of things to come?
Or is the increase going to continue to grow exponentially?

Thoughts...

Ah, right!
And transaction malleability?
392  Bitcoin / Mining / Is Ghash using outdated Bitcoin Version vulnerable to Heartbleed and more..? on: June 28, 2014, 10:51:45 AM
So, I couldn't help but notice that the largest mining pool in the world is using outdated software with vulnerabilities...

Should anybody be worried?

393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blakecoin based Counter-Strike 1.6 Server on: June 15, 2014, 08:49:53 AM
How about making a new coin specifically for this system.. where the players are actually human miners who earn coins by playing on the server?
Would be great to play on such servers where you are actually getting something to play rather than just wasting your time. Tongue I myself would invest some money and buy a server if you can pull something off like this, I can get the coin developed as well.

It's definitely possible to make a coin just for this game, but I looked at that as hurting more than helping. For any of the current or future altcoins to gain traction there would need to be a demand for them. The odds of one game, any game, being popular enough to sustain a coin seem very low to me. To me it seems it would be better to have thousands of games which use the same coin. This would remove the need to make one game which outperforms 99.99% of other games in terms of popularity. It's a fairly difficult situation, since there is no way everyone would agree on one coin and work together, and it is improbable I would create the next WoW.

That said, what if the only way to mine the coin was by playing the game? That could potentially remove the cryptocurrency aspect of all this...I doubt it is any more possible to create a coin which can only be mined in a game than it is possible to create a coin which could *never* be asic mined. You could have a large premine and use that coin to pay the players in the game, but that is not a very popular option. You could have players cpu or gpu mine coins while they play, but I don't think that would work out long term, if the coin were to be popular at all mining farms of gpus, fpgas, and asics would make those players mining almost worthless.

Any thoughts on these issues, Evilish?

I could claim the current players on my server are "mining" coins, and just send them coins acquired via other means. How would one do that in a legitimate way though?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, you should probably check out the Blakecoin thread. The developer of BLC is developing an FPS and an MMO which will use BLC, and be mined by players in the games. I have no idea how he plans to implement that, but I'm definitely long BLC.

It could be possible to make a fully pre-mined GameCoin. The coin itself would obviously not be de-centralised but could be used in game and possibly could be exchanged on a site to and from BTC or LTC ?
Or *** it. Just create a brand new coin called COUNTER-STRIKE COIN and make it Blake based!! sick.. let's do that!!
394  Economy / Economics / Re: Why bitcoin supply will NOT cap at 21M BTC on: June 14, 2014, 11:20:34 PM
Didn't china ban bitcoin like 4 times?

Even if the government tries to regulate it, how effective will it be?
I wouldn't call today's market cap "significant". How many real things have you bought with BTC so far? As long as Bitcoin is pure speculation the government probably can't do a lot about it (and doesn't care too much). But as soon as it is used for daily purchase by many people a ban makes a major difference.

I get takeaways form takeaway.com and pay with bitcoin
I buy and sell stuff for bitcoins on uk.webuy.com
I buy vouchers for high street stores and amazon.com from pock.io Smiley
I'm now gonna book hotels any pay with bitcoin!

Bitcoin for everyday stuff Smiley
